I actually almost like the idea, it kinda solves the problem of flipping the player around by doing it just in a specific place. I am just not certain that it adds enough gameplay value

I don't think it would. it would just flip you in specific places, could just snap into the new position

so you only see particles, they disappear and you are already flipped

but my concern is that it doesn't add enough to the game

or maybe a way to force set a checkpoint

instead of just giving them it

this would stop quite a few people from setting a bunch of checkpoints early then realizing it then restarting
