#untamable, powerful Nexomon you have to steal the eggs and hatch to have your own

There's a game called Ark, and some of the most powerful creatures require you to prepare carefully and steal their eggs to have that power. Things like Wyverns. They fly fast, hit hard, and you have to prepare and plan carefully to steal their eggs so you can have your own Wyvern. It would be incredibly cool to see powerful nexomon who you have to steal their eggs to tame them, something you cannot impulsively do but rather must prepare for.

Seems like it would to difficult game mechanic to add and doesn’t fit well in this game

One way I figured, is that you can only reach it on a mount. They attack you and can knock you out so you have to plan accordingly

#

It would be hyped up in game as some sort of side quest

🤔 I actually like this idea, the same system is present in Monster hunter stories 1 and 2. Should those eggs have like a chance to drop of a certain type? As for example from 1 nest you can find 3 different types of nexomon, maybe based on rarity.

The nests would be guarded by high level variants of the specific nexomon, and the higher their level the more easily they knock you out. But the reward would be a more powerful or perhaps rare variant of the nexomon. There's many ways it could be done where it still fits I believe. Having a higher level mount could increase speed and health, which would help. Just brainstorming

Imagine this: post-game quest where you try to steal tyrant eggs, one for each element, and raise them as your own. It would be a nice reference to N2.

No thanks.

I have to say there was some dissapointment for me when I realized I wouldn't get to hatch my own tyrant. But maybe it could become a reality. Who knows?

#

It would definetly be even funner if raising them had some interesting challenges along the way.

Oh god, imagine waking up to find your newly hatched nexomon has trashed the room you slept in. or set fire to the curtains instead of just shredding them

twin mica

That would be awesome.

nova spindle

Nope, still not interested. Having to clean up after babies is NOT fun. No matter the species.

Basically the idea is this : a powerful mon (+30 level or something compared to the Others in the area), that would be catchable, but extemely low rates, has a nest.
In this nest there are several eggs that the player can carry. To be able to acquire the egg, the player must leave the mons home (cave for example). Several possibilities to acheive this :

  • Wait for night time so that the mon is sleeping and try taking an egg without waking the parent
  • Use bait and traps to slow down the parent and make it impossible for it to reach you with careful planning
  • Use your nexomon to draw out the parent (basically serving as bait) and give it directions so that it lures the parent away from you

Nope, if I want to play Monster Hunter Stories I'll play that. Leave it out of Nexomon.

Why are you guys so obssessed with eggs?

I was obsessed with eggs during the lockdown

#

Now I can't eat eggs

How 'bout we hide 1,000 eggs around the overworld? Then you get a special egg in return.

nova spindle
#

If I'm not willing to hunt down every Korok for a golden poop I'm not willing to hunt down that many eggs.

What if the more eggs you collect, the higher the cosmic odds...

#

Or the eggs are used as offering for reviving Metta.

nova spindle
#

... A bit tempting but no. Surprisingly for the amount I have in Pokemon I'm not really that dedicated a shiny hunter. Cosmics are nice, but I prefer them on the rare 'OMG I actually found one' side.

#

Depends. Do I get to kill him right after?

Then the 1000 eggs will respawn again.

nova spindle

Eh, again tempting but not really my thing.

Reading that with hiding 1000 eggs is like an easter egg hunt, and I kinda like that cuz for me i love exploring places, idk if its a half joke but it gave me quite the chuckle cocolaugh

It would be more interesting if Nexomon from that egg was somehow unique. Like it could learn all possible attacks, or you could make it stronger by feeding it useless cores or other objects, or you could set its own types to make its attacks stronger and so on.

If the only thing that would differentiate it from the other Nexomon would be that it came from an egg that was stolen from somewhere, but otherwise it would be exactly the same Nexomon like 300+ other already existing Nexomon, then it would be a waste of time adding it.

Just thought it was a fun suggestion, something a bit different not seen in a more traditional style monster catching game, using the mechanics allowed by the 3D environment

Look, Nexomon doesn't need eggs, it doesn't need special monsters you only get from eggs. There's plenty of monster taming games that have that mechanic, it's stale and overused. Making Nexomon more like the rest isn't going to help it, it's going to hurt it. Nexomon is just fine without them, it's not necessary to go with the monster taming metta for it to be a good game.

It hasnt been confirmed if the Monster Tamer Metta Aka nexolord will make an appearance or not 😜

still yoke

maybe I could've worded the suggestion better because eggs aren't necessary at all to have a challenging boss monster that has to be strategically obtained

#

One that you can't just toss a golden nexotrap at and be done with

nova spindle
# still yoke I mean it doesn't need to be eggs, we could kidnap babies from nests too. The po...

I still have to disagree. 99% of the time my '100% catch rate' items never get used anyway, if you add in something like this you're just making it harder for the sake of making it harder. There's little to no point in adding a creature that's 'extra challenging' to get because it'll either have legendary grade stats so everyone is using it or complaining how hard it is to get it, have average stats that everyone's complaining they went through all that for this, or have lousy stats that everyone'll be screaming about being trolled for.

#

Trying to complicate a simple system is never a good idea. So let's leave it as 'we catch monsters, sometimes with rare, hard to get traps that guarantee we get it but there's not many or only one of' and be done.

foggy narwhal
#

So your solution is to make everything the same ?

nova spindle
#

No, my solution is 'if it ain't broke don't mess with it'. There's no need to add the equivalent of Arceus in PLA to Nexomon.

#

Because I did NOT have fun getting my butt kicked all over creation by it, nor did a lot of other PLA players.

chilly zodiac
#

I hated the Arecus fight too (though it was easy if you played blindly and just counting numbers in your mind and performed certain action at a given number), but I quite enjoyed the Legend Plate that was available with Arceus.

nova spindle
#

Also, I'm not saying the mechanics wouldn't be fun/interesting (I did enjoy PLA and sneaking up on 'mons to crack a Pokeball against the back of their skulls), but more that the idea doesn't need an 'uber hard special' catch to work. Imagine carefully sneaking up on Fona/Vetra to hit them in grasslands or chucking a trap from atop a cliff onto Arqua,

#

That would be fun, but could as easily be done with everything rather than just legendaries/specials.
