#Leaderboard mouse digging mode

Hello,

In the leaderboard information for the season, there is no mention that mouse digging mode would be disabled — but it is. Instead, the digging assist is enabled, but it cannot be deactivated, and mouse digging mode cannot be activated.

Is this intended? If not, when will this be fixed? If it is intended, I would appreciate some clarification, because in that case the season unfortunately isn’t for me. This doesn’t make the game more challenging — it just adds an unnecessarily frustrating game mechanic that I don’t enjoy.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards.

Thank you very much for the quick response.

No worries — mistakes happen. We’re all only human and nobody is perfect 🙂

I’ll wait until it’s fixed.

Could a <@&368320934895026176> or @developer please provide an update? I keep falling further behind, and I find it extremely unfair to everyone affected by this. Catching up is becoming more and more impossible, and now we’re not even getting any further feedback.

We wanted to make sure anything else didn't break

Well, it seems that everyone who plays with mouse and keyboard has virtually no chance of catching up, let alone reaching a top 50 or even top 10 placement.

@here Hi! We just dropped a hotfix for the mouse digging! You might need to restart Steam Steam for it to download.

And the fact that everyone who was affected can probably forget about achieving a good rank now (for example, I dropped from rank 11 to rank 194) seems to be irrelevant, apparently.

What you see on the leaderboard in the first few days (or even the first week) is not really important.
A lot of players burn out after a week or two and stop playing, so with the leaderboard lasting for a month you have plenty of time to catch up.

I’m aware of that — this isn’t my first season either. But when you’re aiming for a high rank, every single day counts. I can’t play 24/7 because, like most people here, I have a job, friends, and family.

I fully understand that mistakes can happen and that nobody is perfect. But not even really addressing the issue and just labeling it as “it’s fixed now, the rest is your problem” feels unfair to the community.

I agree that it feels unfair, especially if you were aiming for top place.

Unfortunately it is also likely that the devs can't (or are unwilling to) just restart the whole leaderboard due to issues that can be hotfixed quickly.

Many players would be angry to lose their current progress and be forced to start again or just skip the leaderboard entirely like some people did in previous leaderboards that had serious issues.

Kind of a no win situation for the devs... they can't make everyone happy.

It’s not about a reset — I understand that’s always a difficult decision. What really bothers me is the communication.

It was said that they would try to fix it the same day (I’m in CET), which to me meant within the next 3,5 hours after that message. Of course, it can take longer — that happens. But there was no update on their own initiative. Only after multiple messages from others, tagging mods and developers, and repeatedly pointing out how unfair the situation was, did a response come saying it would take longer. No apology, nothing.

Even after pointing out again that this situation wasn’t fair to the affected players, there was no reaction. At some point, there was just a message saying the update is out and to restart Steam. And I find that kind of communication with the community extremely unfair.

That’s the part that really bothers me. Acting transparent and community-focused on TikTok and other platforms, but then communicating like this, just doesn’t match up in my opinion.

Hi I want to personally apologize. The fix was ready yesterday, but our team already stopped working so there was no chance to QA the changes and we decided to postpone the update to not break anything else by mistake. We weren't even aware that so many players use that option and it was the first thing we decided to focus this morning, (since the fix from yesterday didn't fully work), so instead of writing posts (we are small and don't have dedicated person for communication with players) we focused on the bug to make sure it actually is fixed today. We will try to put updates at least on the Discord server.

And exactly that kind of response would have been completely sufficient. Simply something like:

“Unfortunately, we can’t rule out that the update might cause additional issues and still needs further testing. We hope to have it fixed sometime tomorrow during the day.”

That way, everyone would have known what’s going on. Sure, some people might still have been annoyed, but at least they would have been properly informed.

We just don't want to ping everyone if they are not affected. We might make some channel for "smaller" dev updates to tell people what's going on in the studio
