#Blocking Rework

Blocking no longer reduces damage, but nullifies it entirely. The player is now stunned when blocking an attack instead of damaged, with the stun time being proportional to damage nullified. The damage factored in to stun time would be reduced by current block modifiers.

Also add or rework some shields to be more block-focused. The fact that the best way to use every shield besides assault is just to parry without factoring in more complex effects makes them all feel very similar.
Such a shield could be something like this: https://discord.com/channels/329403875117236225/1130333500646625401

very good simple rework yeah

#

surprised nobody's thought of this until now

#

damage negation stats can easily be translated into stun time

#

also synergy with berserker

#

anyway

#

I do think the second part of this is also very important

tonic berserker infinite block builds, hmm

one of the biggest reasons blocking just kinda sucks imo is that parrying can be done so consistently that a lower risk lower reward option is never appealing, because the risk with parrying is already so low. there would need to be actual incentives for blocking specifically rather than parrying, I'd say, although a higher reward to blocking does also help.

Wouldn't this kinda hurt blocking since then you couldn't block consecutive attacks?

you could if there was enough reduction for the stun to be nonexistant or very short

if you could just block everything with no repercussions I feel like that would just be overkill

#

works better as a situational thing imo
