I am trying to connect to a server using the beta 1.8 server jar, i am using betacraft as i am on an m1 mac. my friend is on the same wifi network as me and same version. When i start the server jar on my laptop i can connect but he cant, and vice versa when he opens it on his windows computer.

They are showing two different IP addresses. we are completely stumped. tried using hamachi but not compatiable with M1. why could this be happening?

is your friend connecting using the local ip of your server machine?

#

localhost or 127.0.0.1 is not a local network ip, btw

we both used the ip that appears on the internet settings on our computers

#

but they were different ip’s

#

and we’re using the same wifi network

you might have to disable the firewall on your host machine

done that and its still not working :(

#

anything else you suggest?

sorry im dumb, how do i find that on mac?

system preferences -> wifi -> details -> (scroll down) IP address

thats the one that i myself can connect to with no issue, my friend cannot connect

#

could you send the two IPs? i suspect they may be in different subnets

#

i mean local IPs, not public IPs, btw

#

is it possible i could send them via a dm?

reef fox
#

it doesn't matter if you send them here. they're local.

okay

ok, that's a NAT ip. not local but still ambiguous enough to not get your exact location exposed. that's very weird, given that you're supposedly on the same network

yeah thats just what it says on 'IP Address' on my wifi details

cant find any other one, and it works to connect me to my own server
