bits of the world turn invisible, either randomly while walking or idling, although toggling doors or anything similar usually recreates the problem

@warped spire Yeah, I'll third the opinion to not use Optifine in your case.
You seem to only use OF for the fps boost, while SmoothBetaML caused Optifine to be reduced to only being useful when seeking hi-res textures + fonts coupled with a minor to medium fps boost.
It's not worth using OF over SmoothBetaML considering OF's bugginess when all you really get is a minor fps boost.

BetaTweaks already brings a zoom mod. And if you were using BetaTweaks together with Optifine, you already were using BetaTweaks' zoom mod as opposed to whatever Optifine delivers.

# gentle oxide I bet there soon will be a mod for that and maybe a ml version as well

I mean there is: MCPatcher.
For the most part it does the same as Optifine does, except with less glitches.
It has a large downside over Optifine though: It does not provide any fps boost.
Further, SmoothBetaML can't provide an fps boost either if MCPatcher is used to obtain compatibility with hi-res textures because both overwrite Minecraft.class, making the two incompatible with each other.

(Technically, OF also is incompatible with SmoothBetaML because both overwrite dk.class, as well as nw.class, however multithreaded OF at least provides an fps boost even though lessed and far less consistent than SmoothBetaML)
