I've been a PolyMC user since it got released in the flatpak format, but now that I will no longer use it I am stuck. The maintainer of MultiMC refuses to distribute MultiMC on flatpak (plus has compared people asking him for it, to [tw] ||rape||) and I consider BetaCraft the only other good launcher.
To be clear, I do not like flathub but I do like the flatpak format for a few reasons, but mainly: Silverblue. I can have a very stable system with flatpak only, and I would like to see BetaCraft distributed in flatpak.
I understand that this might be too much work to be worth maintaining, but I'd at least like it considered. I think plenty of people would get use out of it, and with BetaCraft being a single jar it probably would be much less work to create a flatpak.

it would be much less work to just install java and use the jar
also how do you not like flathub but like flatpak, all of flatpak is centered around flathub no?
Not the point. Using the jar requires an active terminal session (unless you know how to background it and then it’s still a pain). It also doesn’t create a .desktop file (and also requires other stuff besides java that is not realistic to install on an immutable system)
I do not think it’s a good platform, and just have gripes over it. My point was that even if betacraft didn’t want to put their program on flathub they could still distribute the .flatpak which not only is super easy for newbies to install but it also allows people like myself to use betacraft on silverblue
Currently betacraft only provides binaries, and flatpak would give linux users an actual way to install it without much work from betacraft’s side
If any betacraft maintainers showed any interest in this I could even build a flatpak image for betacraft. To my knowledge you can even make an image download the files needed, so it wouldn’t need to be updated.
