You can't mass select materials for your designated buildings. If you are building 200 walls, you will have to click 200 times on the materials. In classic, you could Shift + Click and it would assign material for all designated builds.

Also! You can't see number of materials you can use, if your UI is too big
trying increasing "max interface width" in settings as a workaround for this

As a further recommendation, it may be good to prioritize the count of materials you have over the distance when displaying the list (not the order, but rather just what text is shown).
Distance is important, but if I'm going to cut anything off I'd rather it be that.
