Got a 3-pack, and got one to work with the RPi Pico. Any idea who actually makes those modules? Would be nice to have something similar with castellated holes that I could solder on to a board as a component.

They are made by everyone and no one. It's yet another example output from the many many anonymous board makers selling from Alibaba

I have not been able to track down the author of the original PCB

Ha, well that is interesting. So I guess if I were to design a board around that schematic it's basically public domain for all intents and purposes?

#

Thx for your input, btw.

It seems like who ever did design it did at least attempt to separate digital from analog, having instead of just one 3.3V regulator, having a vreg for the analog section and one for the digital section of the PCM5100 chip

Working on an article involving this chip/board. OK if I quote and/or reference you? @vivid iron

In a previous article, I went over how you to use a MAX98357 amplifier breakout to power a speaker via digital I2S (Inter-IC Sound) signals. While this opens up audio output possibilities, it’s not meant to work with an external amplifier. For that you’ll need a simple DAC, or digital-to-analog converter.

@dusk oxide I was very confused earlier today when I got a bunch of blog pingbacks that was clearly your post but from "Jeremy S Prepare dinner" 😬

Oh, Prepare dinner. Wow, I didn't get that was an interpretation of my name.
