And the guidance I got just confirmed what I thought I knew

But I also learned some stuff that was an older standard and got corrected on more modern standards by some online friends so I'm keeping that in mind for future electrical work

Namely it is apparently incorrect to have the ground pin facing down because it increases the risk of shorting things I guess but it's so common that I'm not worried about leaving my lab wired with ground down but I'll put it upward on future installs

So when you press your boot button and pull the signal low, you go into the dfu mode

I learned more teaching myself as a homeschooler (parents weren't qualified to teach me at the level I was at, so I did a combination of self teaching and online classes) than I ever would have in public school

now, does that mean this is a better option for everyone? no. if you're the kind of person the system was built for and you don't have an excessive drive to learn anything and everything you can then public school is probably your best option.
