... it is like the energy is equal to the heat +(it is a minus) work. both of them are in joules, in the case it doesn't receive or give heat(supposing an ideal situation), the physical work will decide if the gas will increase it's temperature or decrease it's temperature, if it diminute the pressure and increase the volume it will be colder the oposite will make it hotter, that equation that I posted is not useful at this situation because you have PV at the same side(one increases and the other decreases) and it doesn't give the energy in joules... the equation used is U = q - t ... U is de difference of energy, basically it is related with the temperature. When you make the gas pass through a bigger place it decrease the temperature, when it pass in a small place it makes the gas hotter, this is what the refrigerator does. You are applying work and taking out work with the walls of the gas. When you use the deodorant, what is happening is even that it is going in a small place, instantly after this it go to a way bigger place ( your room) and it decreases the temperature following First Law of Thermodynamics. Science.

You can even build a refrigerator using a rubber band.
How does your project look now?
Same lol, just that every LED works right now
Nice ✅
Me and my father bought the material to do a project with cube LED's
Did you buy the PCB already made
With all the material? Microcontrollers, etc...
Or you're designing and programming everything?
Did you buy a kit for it?
I think the engineers that makes the libraries for the code of these kind of projects are so hardworkers... I really admire them.
(sorry for not responding I was coding something else XD)
I actually just bought a box of 1000 LEDs (200 for red, yellow, green, blue, and white) and so I just used blue. Then I plan on using a "double sided PCB kit" board (which is a perf board but green and the holes are pre-tinned so soldering is much easier to it) and then I haven't decided on the microcontroller but I'm probably gonna use my Arduino Mega clone after it decides to unbrick itself and actually show up as a serial port. 😦
(so basically "from scratch")
And the libraries?
What library will you use?
What ci will you use to handle the LED matrix?
Is there a MAX... For it?
I didn't think that far ahead yet 🙃
Would like some suggestions 😅
I also may or may not be afraid to ruin it after spending hours on it fixing it so that's why I may or may not be procrastinating 😂
The one I have here I think everything is pre-made includive the code. I think.
(Also before doing it I would highly suggest buying a bunch of solder and make sure your soldering iron is in good condition. Saying I used a meter length of solder on it would not be an exaggeration.)
You just have to make the cube, solder the components in the PCB and put the pre existing code.
We have a lot or solder here. ✅ 👍
Do you have a link to the kit? I would like to see how they designed it compared to my homemade version :p
Here is an electronics house.
Unfortunately my family really dislikes the smell of soldering 😦
Tomorrow I give you, my father is the one with the links.
And I'm more of a software guy then a hardware guy so I constantly keep screwing up which makes it take extra long lol.
Think your matrix has so many pins... You need a special ci to handle this.
And make it easier to the microcontroller to work.
With less pins.
It uses SPI to do it I think.
It makes a conversion.
Is like a code/ci to handle a lot of pins with just a few pins.
I was thinking of using something more powerful like an ESP32 and using a bunch of shift registers but I'm trying to not buy anything for this project so I guess I'm just gonna end up using the mega lol
Shift registers.... These are memories for me.
lol
But they are, they store bits.
Paralell/Serial
Serial/serial
...
My father made a project in the past using shift registers.
It made cool patterns.
But I really so not know how the code looked like.
But it was 10 LEDs.
A shift register and an Arduino.
Windows 11
Bleh
XD
It is a very American name John Smith.
Super generic
ye
i think imma stay with windows 10 cause i'm too lazy to transfer all my data and reinstall all my programs
cause my processor only gen 3 i7 so idk if i even can upgrade
Well, if your system is decided to be allowed to run 11, it'll just be an update, you don't need to reinstall
unless windows 11 installer will keep ALL my files intact across upgrade but now i'm just wishing
It's basically just Windows 10 with a new skin... installs just like all the previous major 10 versions
(as you can tell i didn't study up on windows 11 😂)
lol
(didn't really like the look so wasn't considering on upgrading)
cause i liked the weather app's live tile 😦
There is a graphing calculator.
I dun like it, but I think I can live with it... but not moving for at least a year
in windows 11 calculator app??? 👀
I always run a year off for feature updates
*like in the built-in calculator app?
Yes.
noice
10 already had graphing, lol
They should include more functions.
I tried to find integral, and there was not integrals.
Another problem is when I copied my equation to WolframAlpha
so that windows updater doesn't delete your files like last time *cough* *cough*
Actually it's the same app version for 11 [left] and 10 [right]
I think it is too early for windows 11.
They should have waited until 2026
Or 2025...
I think they should just have dropped the 10 and it should just be Windows
Especially since this is apparently version number 10.somethingsomething....
But I mean, 10 is about a decade old, not like they just released it
6
No it released in 2015
XP was 2003, 7 was 2009
Really?
Wait, yeah, 10 will be 10 years old when support ends in 2025
Oop, no, XP was 2001
Time pass so fast...
wait what when did this happen lol
But 11 is basically just 10 with tweaks
(yea windows 11 was too early imho)
I dunno, I don't use calc for more than simple stuff, lol
They could have just released it as another big 10 update, the name means nothing
i also don't like the new icon 😦
actually i don't like the new look at all i just want the better monitor support and any other improvements that don't change the gui
I liked, it feels good.
Remembers water...
your opinion is wrong 😂
Or something like this.
(as long as you like it that's good)
The blue...
As you can see... still Windows version 10.0
but the new wallpapers are much better then the built-in ones for windows 10 ngl
Ehh
I like the Windows logo desktop, I often use a variant of it on non-themed builds and VMs
Like this one
TIL I can take a screenshot from within a VM/Remote Desktop session and paste it on the host machine, lol
And I finally found the right wallpaper for this system XD
there doesn't seem to be a lot of crud in the air today. there were a lot of VOCs last week when the wood floor got finished (and particulates, from the sanding).
windows 8 was the first iteration iirc lol
I think Hockey is such a violent sport :(
I think it is cool, but it is too much contact.
When the player hits other it looks like is intentionally to make the other fall in the rigid ice!
I like how the game goes, it looks like football but it is violent. I think it should have more strict rules for safety and safer clothes.
it is intentional
football is pretty violent too as evidenced by the brain injuries among other things
In football this is not allowed.
they already have EXTREMELY strong regulations
Yeah, not handegg like they play in the United States.
in football it's full of faking injuries instead of getting real ones
In hockey?
yep
yup
What is handegg?
american football
I see.
This is not a offansive video to any sport or soccer. It just shows how funny the football players became while they are trying to fool the reff. Instead of looking funny be taught, be real sportest, be cool and earn respect...!!!
remember they're heavily padded, have done it a million times, and are absolutely pumped with Adrenalin
they do have heavy padding there
the same could be said about hockey
it's not the intention but it happens
remember also that in hockey they have large knives on their feet, and you never see them get used as weapons
that's a huge part of the regulations
it has happened
without regulations it could definitely happen
Very bad.
This is the worst thing I see in Soccer.
just like in football if there were no regulations against contact players would be tackling each other left and right. boom, american football
Nothing really physical.
And just a few selected players do this often.
Like Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo...
I did not see Ronaldinho Gaucho doing this, Ronaldo, Zidane falling for no reason.
It feels so weird, everyone is looking at them at TV and they do it anyway!
It is like they do not care about doing the right thing.
Fair play.
With brazillians clubs I do see some players falling for no reason but it is not everytime!
And sometimes I make mistakes in my judgements...
... It is like comparing liars(soccer) and violents(hockey)...
None of these sides are ok.
I forgot to post it here on 28. Sorry.
This poster is from my university. Orgulho means Pride.
Reverse Polish, or Postfix notation is commonly used in Computer Science, particularly in reference to Stacks - but what are stacks and how does postfix work? Professor David Brailsford takes us through it.

I only have RPN calculators, and have used little else since early undergrad. They're quite efficient.
We will buy a HP-35s used (RPN). I love this calculator because it has a similar name to the HP-35 the first scientific calculator. The HP-35 and the HP-35s looks quite the same. I like it.
...
I reduced my lunch time from 1h to 30m, I am pretty happy with that. Now I have more 30m to study in the day. A very good choice. It's closer to my internet's colleagues standard study time.
My father knows this one.
RPN seems interesting but I don’t really want to relearn math you know
tomorrow is my driver licensing exam.
I'll take one of these with me:
It will be very weird to take a clock like this with me to a test. They do not allow digital clocks ( I only have digital wristwatch, not analogic ones). I tought in going to the shopping to buy one, but I would loose too much study time for the drive licensing exam. I didn't buy before because I asked to my teacher if they had a clock in the test room, and he said: no, it made me completely surprised because that would be very strange, I was asking just to confirm the obvious, and they do not have a clock in the room. But my exam will be in a computer, so I hope it will have a clock in the software.
if I were you I wouldn't worry too hard
usually in those tests they are super easy and give you loads of time
It is 1 hour here. I do not think it is easy, I must learn a bunch of laws... there are a lot of little details.....
I wonder if there is a modern Naphtha engine out there, or make one...?
An internal combustion naphtha engine? I would imagine you could run some small model engines on it. A steam engine however wouldn't really care much about the fuel based on what I know
Guys, question for bachelors, any tips for facing the final thesis defense or whatever it is you call the final test for your final bachelor's project?
Use the office hours as much as you can.
Write a lot of PDF's with 25 questions each and go to your professor's to talk to him.
To not become a weird situation do not ask more than 25 questions per day.
we're talking about a bachelor's degree final project right?
Yes, I think.
Professors have experience with this.
More than anyone who is not a professor here.
They are the perfect ones answering questions about this.
Usually involves a large written paper on the project, my team turned in a 50 page document and made a poster presentation
Some schools have expos once a year in the spring to show case senior projects
what about the final presentation where you present your work in front of lecturers?
any tips?
and what are the precentage of you failing?
As long as you put in the work and document the process how they want you to, and then do your best presenting you should pass
some people told me that if your mentor has already accept you going forward with your work, you can trust in the quality of your work
unless you seriously screw everything up you shouldn't fail
It’s not about being right, it’s about the process
i hope so
They would love for you to have a finished prototype but it isn’t always possible
would my mentor's judgement be somewhat enough to determine how am i doing?
I graduated in December with my Bachelors in Computer Engineering
i've finished a protoype
Your mentors judgment will help you a lot as long as you communicate clearly
but man, im too afraid because i made it based on intuition
But ultimately documentation is your friend here
no concrete theory because it's just basically me freestyling on 3d design and electronics
Usually you would have had milestones to reach for your design project
based on some tutorial i found on youtube, lol
You can always work backwards from your experiements to theory
Turning in gannt charts, bill of materials, black box and white box testing
Problem and needs statements
well, it's kinda too late for re writing my report, tomorrow is the deadline for me to submit my work
and my mentors have already greenlit my work
UML diagrams and whatnot
Basically they want to see that you documented the process from idea to prototype
Just make sure you understand your work
i lowkey kinda worried if i meet a lecturer that would actively pinpoint my mistakes
Lots of visuals help and doing a demonstration
Provide any metrics or results from testing like oscilloscope readings, regression testing if there’s software
You can expect someone to zero in on things and ask questions: however "making no mistakes" is not the goal: understanding what's going on, giving good explanations, and keeping calm is what you want.
And being honest
Most of all don’t fake your way through it
Be upfront about details you are unsure of
If you're unsure of something you might consider offering to follow up and answer that at a later point, if that's an option
Professors likes honest.
I doubt it
Just do your best, be honest, don’t fudge the results and you’ll do great
You must not fight against yourself(and your own work) but you must be honest.
what determines the score exactly?
let's say if i fail my project in some way or didn't get the desired results but can present why it happened and my progress, it still counts right?
It's normally up to the judges, but in general they're looking for evidence that you understand what you're doing, and why things worked/didn't work, and you've covered the field reasonably well.
does anyone think it's possible to hack a discord server or user to change what they receive or send?
i have had user reach out with strange stories that i did things to them
but i dont have a clue why.
people saying i sat online arguing till late in the morning.
you know, working on my final project made me realized that there are tons of formally undocumented engineering feats that are documented in youtube
things that could easily be a masters degree work but it's just there
i mean, you have projects from solar trackers to prototype lightsabers
no formal papers, just youtube videos from passionate engineers
A lot of people are doing some really amazing original research on their own.
yeah
it made me wonder, should there be a change in the academia system regarding this?
I've long thought so, but my views are skewed by bad experiences with academia
i see
hmm, i wonder, any of yall have heard any experiences of someone that failed their thesis not because of their progress or results but because of poor documentation?
My advisor had a lot of pushback with how the senior design course/projects were run. It was all academic with very little incentive to do something new or out of the ordinary.
heh, my advisor allows us to do anything as long as its final results are viable to be presented
I approve of that stance, and would think if your adviser thinks it's viable, then it likely is (I'm guessing your advisor has been through this process many times before)
i think so to
My advisor had issue that we weren’t really following the engineering design process so there really wasn’t any value to teaching it and not doing it the right way. My team worked on visible light communication. Essentially reverse engineering something that hadn’t been made open source yet
i did some research apparently discord is not secure at all
people could gain access to a server and cause a lot of chaos.
configuring channels can be complicated
Yeah but first they would have to get you user token
Even though humans are the weakest link discord does a lot to help protect that token
Red Bull açai flavor.
It is a brazillian fruit, from amazon.
Açai is a natural energetic.
I bought orange and ginger tea instead of this because it is too expensive.
Hey, anyone do AutoCAD work with architecture design, need to pick brain on call outs, conflicts with my logic of callous for piping and E&I callouts
And someone send me that red bull, coffee ain't cutting it today
If you live in new Orleans I'll pay delivery fee :)
No, hahaha I live in Sergipe-Brazil. This beverage is double energetic: one for Red Bull and two for Açai.
How's your throwing arm?
Hahaha not very strong.
Arduino powered catapult then.
Couple of steppers and screen door springs, I think it will work.
I really do not understand, I buy 6 very good oranges for 0.33 dollars in local farm fair and the orange and ginger tea beverage costs about 0.70 dollars... This does not makes sense. The Red Bull in the other side costs 1.5 dollars and açai is not so expensive here.
I've heard redbull acai is good, but it's still caffeinated
Like, you're not getting that 200mg worth of caffeine from acai berry flavor that is in the can
And then I would have to recommend against energy drinks entirely
Tea is probably one of the best sources of caffeine
And redbull isnt priced at how much the ingredients cost, they are all priced the same
Hum... That is true, all Red Bull flavors there in the shop had the same price. They had a lot of brazillian special flavors for RedBull.
Brazil nut redbull
Hahaha I would like to taste this one. I love Brazil nut. It is healthy, in the past my nutricionist told me to eat a few grams or it everyday.
Mmm, crunchy drink
We do have nuts juice. It is a crunchy drink.
Not nuts, peanuts.
It is easy to make, just toast the peanuts them misture with milk and sugar in the blender.
Adeus, I'm at work
I'm in the hospital with my father.
I forgot my triple mask.
Actually it is a clinic he is going to the angiologist.
Happy 4th of July by the way! 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ 😻 😻 😻 🥳 🥳 🥳 😍 😍 😍
I am saying in advance because I can be busy in 4th of July.
I still remeber like it was yesterday reading in my history book in 9th grade about the independence of USA.
Go america
Go America
The juice must be made from this type of peanut, it can't be eaten raw because the flavor is not good, so you toast it.
You can even do a juice with Brazil nuts, it is also good , just use milk instead of water.
I passed my theoretical driving license exam ✅ 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳
90% 🥳 ✅ 😃
Now I have to drive in the streets.
My test was the easiest thing to do
The guy never even got into the car, all I had to do was parallel park, reverse straight, and back into a parking space
Looks just a few things. :(
Here we must pay attention to 100 things and make everthing correct: positioning, you cant turn your neck behind, you can't leave your door half closed, etc...
If you make just a few mistakes you are not approved.
Our government is very rigorous to laws related to cars. For safety.
My nutricionist told me to add chia in selected meals of my day. It did not make any difference in the flavor.
Totally honest, I have no knowledge on the nutrition of chia and I never eat/consume it
I just eat roughly 2 lbs of meat a day with some lettuce and salads
Do not eat Chia pets, they have no nutritional value
INTRODUCING CH CH CHIA FRIES!! 🍟 your favorite snack now as a terra cotta seed kit! What will we think of next! 🤣
XD
Brazillians like to eat rice and beans in lunch everyday.
Musical lunch time
I had rice with lunch
Rare situations is when you eat Lasangna or Spagetti. Food like this, but it is rare. 99.5% of the lunch in my whole life had rice and beans. You can not eat meat without rice and beans.
I need more spaghetti in my life
My computer finally turn on and I can finish my studies for the day! I have 20 minutes! Bye.
kbai, good luck
Well, that's clearly something to noodle on.
I notice that Americans eat things like
meat and salad
in a lunch,
like only the two of them, and a beverage.
is that true?
It varies a lot, but yeah, I wouldn't consider that particularly weird, especially for people doing a low-carb diet.
... it feels like it is missing something!
it like... too dry. Maybe if you add potatoes and beans it gets better.
My father is 3D printing a new anti-hacker device for me. In the webcam.
...
I started reading Assassins Creed book 1 , I could read only 51% of the book(Kindle), it is horrible, the history is terrible, it is bad writen, it doesn't gives any emotion or affect to the characters... I hated. It is like random events in a random world. Bad tales...
... I was reading To Kill a Mocking Bird for the first time it is more interesting (and it is a more evolving story)
It kind of gives me a trauma... I am in 50% of the book and it is really bad the way a judger treats an inocent black person accused of a thing he did not do. I have brazillian books writen in the same time it passes To Kill a Mocking Bird, the name is "Menino do Engenho"
It has a very similar situation found in To Kill a Mocking Bird if I am not making a mistake, I read "Menino do Engenho" in the second semester of 2011.
But the judger is not a graduated judger, it is a very influencial farmland owner but he stood in the side of the innocent person that was accused of cheating, because everything told he was innocent and he was not arrested for what he did. Then there was a phrase in the book that said " the influence/leadership of the farmland owner(I forgot his name) in not based on force/violence, but in love". It kind of remembers my father, he was never used force or violence against me and it worked: I never used drugs, I never went to parties with alchool and drugs, I do not like tatoos (or similar), I was the best student (or one of the bests) in different schools, I have a lot of compliments from many professors, directors and school staff...( in all my life, specially in high school) and I help my father in the wheelchair and I will stay helping him forever, and he did not asked me for that. No force or violence from him even when he walked in the past. This must not be perfection for the whole world (or it is, I do not know) or your parents, but for sure it is for my parents :)
My lunch is chaos
I remember that "Unshelved" strip
What is an unshelved strip?
It's a comic strip about some librarians. This is the one I was thinking of. http://www.unshelved.com/2013-6-2
It is very hard to understand jokes to me in english, but I dislike jokes in any languages so that is not a problem really. ( I like to laught a lot, but not of jokes, like jokes created, it is tacky )
I don't understand this one at all!
There is also my father and mother commandments that I wrote (it is very clear that I care about what they say) . I really do not believe someone in the history of earth has writen as many as me and I do not think I writen it too much. 😍 I am very serious about this.
My parents are extremelly(itensely) proud about this, that I was so smart, atentious, Etc... Etc.. Etc... Of writing them.
I'm not sure I'm familiar with this tradition. Could you explain what it is?
So my cat tried to kill my CLUE... Got it with AdaBox015, had it set up watering a plant, strapped to a container of water... Well, he knocked the whole thing over, got it all over the CLUE and the floor. Thankfully my mom found it, CLUE was desperately trying to water the plant (pump tube had disconnected and pump was out of water anyway), so sounds like it survived... But I'll have to test it later
I've writen thousands of commandments from my father and my mother in a list like. (These are not their commandments)
1 - Do not jump 3 times.
2 - Only use smartphones in an hexagonal format.
3 - Always put your clock in the table upside down...
...
There are very mature and complex commandments, there are STEM related...
... why not jump 3 times? And I've only seen one hexagonal phone... And what do you mean put your clock in the table?!
It is just an example that I created 😂
Random
I can't say my parents commandments it is too personal!
🤔
you could design hexagonal phone
To kill a mocking bird is pretty good
I played the sheriff in a production of it in college
In Brazil this book is called "The sun is for everyone". Harper Lee's book.
You said the book made you feel uncomfortable
Thats the point by the way
I also got a new pew pew stick dm if you want pics
Why is the server icon a USA flag? Does the server have anything to do directly with the USA?
'Murican company, 'Murican holiday [4th of July, Independence Day]
Adafruit is located in NYC, USA
^
4th of July. Adafruit is in USA, as well as Discord from British companies must celebrate in some way British holidays, or from France, Australia, etc... They do taught me this in kindergarten, we celebrated a lot of brazillian holidays, in a english class here we celebrated Halloween(a holiday that brazillians do not have, but USA has.).
Canada Day was yesterday
Canadia Day is the 5th
That is why I think education from kindergarten and middle school is extremelly important, I use a lot ot the calculations I learnt there in the school or engineering.
Not every school teaches every country's holidays, lol. I don't think they taught British, French, Australian, or other holidays in my kindergarten [at least, I don't remember, everything before 5th grade is lost]
In a spanish class we celebrated spanish holidays...
My kindergarten (nor middle school) didn't include much in the way of actual education.
In a french class we celebrate french holidays.
That is because you do not speak other languages.
Or they did not taught this at your school.
Yeah, kindergarten is usually like... general coordination tasks and maybe alphabet? social stuff largely
I did have a French class where we would occasionally celebrate a French holiday, but that wasn't the norm
Certainly not a kindergarten thing
Here in brazil we have this, most of schools has.
Well, 'murica isn't Brazil, XD
Cinco de mayo and dia de Los Muertos in Spanish class
And flan day
There's a lot of countries that celebrate independence from the British in july
Dia de los Muertos, Cinco de Mayo, and St. Paddy's day are the big non-US holidays I can think of that we celebrate here, lol
St. Paddy's largely just a drinking holiday for most folks...
I remember dressing like a rabbit in easter... my teachers made paintings in my face and I had a big Rabbit ears. My kids in the future will do this too, and it will follow generation after genetarion...
Who gave m5 the idea for this? https://shop.m5stack.com/collections/m5stack-new-arrival/products/lcd-unit-1-14-135-240-pixels-display?mc_cid=8045944a64&mc_eid=8ece97cc7b I didn't... but it was my idea...
Not sure what you're taking about but ideas are not intellectual property.
He stole that from me
Can't steal ideas
good to know nothing is sacred
i hope you find your ideas posted on some other guys wall after making 0$ cuz he has a team of 50 VS you
I don't know the context but if you were chatting on a public forum, then anything you say is fair game for anyone else on the forum.
it was in private
ooh coding drama
not public
Still doesn't matter, unless you have both signed an NDA or other legal agreement of some kind.
I wouldn't trust some random website's definition (or some random person on Discord for that matter).
Yes, hire a lawyer. (They will most likely tell you that what you're experiencing is not IP infringement.)
I mean, you obviously feel like someone did you wrong.
But that doesn't mean it's legally wrong.
They can tell you this for free.
If it is inlegal or not.
And even if it is legally wrong, it doesn't mean you can get anywhere with a case.
if youre not making any money off of it or you do not have any proof of potential money, then no point in hiring a lawyer
lawyers will charge you for advice
information like this is not free
It is in Brazil.
They do not charge you for such a small information
If you can use law or not.
If you can... And start the fight they charge you to be on your side.
My brother is a Lawyer and I know more than 10 lawyers and I convived with them for years...
I saw how it works and everything.
I already participated (as a spectator) of more than one judgement
Lawyers do NOT generally do free advice in the US
Reputable lawyers in the US generally offer a free initial consultation.
this isn't right. i have nothing and now the little bit i had is less
worked my butt off on nothing
So what did they actually steal from you: source code, drawings, ...?
I'm confused, what exactly was stolen?
The idea to use a cpu as a gpu over i2c with a display attached for m5stack products
just leave it.. i give up achieving anything 😦
Unless they signed an NDA with you, an idea is just an idea. (And even if you did have an NDA, you'd need to prove that they didn't already have that idea until you gave it to them.)
Maybe they came up with it themselves? You told that person your idea a little over 2 months ago, but it probably took longer than that to develop, manufacture, and prepare that device for shipping... Shipping of samples can take weeks alone
actually i have seen how fast they go from proto type to store
go visit their twitter page
Law is good and it is a benefit to you, you should fight for it, I do not know a single person that did not fight for their rights among the people that I convived in my life.
You are deeling with a law.
That is made for right people.
So use it.
There's not much to stand on in a court case for this... You'd need proof
I know people that used law with big comoanies and they won.
I know people that used law for small companies and won.
It's hard to prove he took the idea, plus you didn't have a patent or anything... and no NDA or contract
That is it, most of the cases I know were against big companies.
But there was civil cases too.
I mean, yeah, individuals can win cases against big companies, but you need sufficient proof
If they at some point promised to compensate you for the idea or the work you put in, you might have something to go on. But there doesn't seem to be any actual IP infringement here.
Even with a great lawyer, you still need evidence
i think i have enough evidence
You can still make your own, they can't really patent a display on an MCU
And even if they have copyright on their code, they can't sue you for your own implementation of the same concept
I mean, they can patent their exact hardware, but not the idea
And if you DID try to sue them and they came up with the idea themselves, before you said anything, they can prove they were working on it before
So you want to be CERTAIN before you try a lawyer. But if you get a free consultation, they'll tell you if you have a case
i am so sure of it i can set myself on fire with gasoline and not blink
Uhhh.... That's... I don't know if that's a good thing?
i need to talk to a good lawyer
but i cant afford one
so i guess i leave this.. go on with life
Look for one with free consultation. Some will only charge if you lose, otherwise the other party pays
But yeah... I think you should just make the thing
BTW.. m5stacks support it terrible.
atleast with arduino
you have thinkers
like you guys
thanks for the advice guys
Np
If you can show clear ownership of an idea that has substantial economic value, probably a layer will take it on contingency. If not, stop wasting time and come up with a better idea.
well they are selling it
That doesn't mean they are making money.
Write up a clear description of what happened and send it to a lawyer.
Stop complaining and fix the problem. Posting here will not make you any money.
Honestly it isn’t worth pursuing
Ideas are a dime a dozen, it’s execution that matters. Continue to iterate on your product and release it
If you’re works better then the proof will be in the results.
There are tons of companies doing the same things
I mean, if Adafruit wasn’t open source and maker friendly, they could easily go after companies making similar or copy cat products
But they don’t, they just decided they would put more effort into making their products better, far better supported, and also focus on the community they build their products for.
Those are the differentiating factors on execution.
I have an example of this in my own experience.
A few years ago (like a decade ago) I came up with and started working on an idea for an app to order ahead for coffee shops where you could just pick up your order and go.
I didn’t get very far because of life and all. Another company basically did the same thing as me and they launched at a few universities including the one I was at. I was mad and wanted to sue because they “stole” my idea. I had receipts of the idea and starting to execute. It didn’t matter. There wasn’t a lawyer I could find to support my claims. It’s when I learned there are no original ideas, just execution of ideas that matters.
So moral of the story, someone did your idea? Okay just keep working on your idea and block out the noise.
Yah, I am a bit of a broken record about this particular annoying story, but I was working at a past employer on a bang-up thing that would totally win the marketplace.
They declared that nobody would buy it, laid us all off, and I was totally OK with that because I was done with that particular employer and was already interviewing.
You can now buy a version of this off of Google as part of their cloud offering, plus there's a hot new startup working on a artisinal version thereof, plus IBM has some products in that space....
it's the rule.
this is education.
there's weird people around the world doing weird things and you must defend yourself from them.
it is very cheap.
Like, 🤷 , we're spending a lot of effort on the notion of a protection of ideas and most of the time, if a regular old inventor in their basement cooks something up and patents it, like 99% of the time, they end up getting screwed out of the profits of their investment, so pretty much all the patent system does is provide fodder for patent trolls.
and it is valid internationally.
I have access to a lot of lawyers due to family, but it is as easy for me as to everybody else.
it's law and it is the same to everybody.
And, likewise, a patent isn't about an idea. It's about an invention.
I am not being specific.
Yah, but the problem is, there's a world of difference between "Hey, someone should do a thing that does this and that" and a practical apparatus that uses items A through R to do a useful thing. The patent covers only the second.
And, likewise, the law is a perfectly reasonable abstract idea but the access to justice is very much not equal and the difference between what a person can take on under a contingency and a large corporation's ability to bury you under mountains of legal paperwork and arrange to have the suit occur in front of a judge of their choosing does not make the legal system, especially in the US, fair.
Similarly, there are plenty of countries that simply do not recognize patents from other countries or effectively do not recognize patents from other countries if you are not a local company.
It's like, my uncle invented a bunch of interesting things. I see some of them in the stores. Most of the time, he got screwed out of them, so he'd go on an invent a different version along the same lines and then he'd get screwed out of that.
So, like, if you have a cool idea and don't want someone to steal it, keep it to yourself. If you look at most of the patents in the modern patent regime, you'll discover that they are carefully constructed to separate that-which-you-can-sue-someone-for and that-which-represents-the-real-secret-sauce-of-the-idea separate anyway.
I think it is very hard to defend a very good idea.
actually I think ( I think ) it is impossible.
You can't keep it only to yourself really...
and if I ask my brother or the other lawyers that I know they'll probabily tell me the same.
It is like Windows defending from piracy or anything like this in the worst case.
Why is this a common depiction of a black hole
That curving around it still looks so odd to me
Do black holes even have rings most of the time?
Well, black holes by themselves are just black. The only way you see them is if they're swallowing matter, which forms a disc as it falls in, so that's the convention.
The distortion of the shape is caused by gravitational lensing of the disc, which is why you can see its "back side" to the top and bottom. This has been fairly difficult to visualize until recently, but they put a lot of effort into getting it right for the Interstellar movie, and that's the new standard everyone compares to.
I used to read about black holes in the library of my high school
there was a lot of books, it was an enciclopedia, a modern one.
There was Halking's equation but it did not have any exercice in the book so I could practice it, so I can't really say if I learnt it or not.
"I used to read" = 3-5 pages of a book with a very large area. I did not see a similar photo in the enciclopedia.
page = a front of a page, not a whole page, two sides.
The photo in the enciclopedia was something like this.
extremely similar, if not the exact same photo. Bending light with it's gravity.
Only two things bothers me a lot in this photo... why there are no stars in front of the black hole, between us and the black hole and why there's no light pollution in it's area.
That's cool...
That's just a simulated view rather than a photo. There's no particular reason why there shouldn't be foreground stars too.
Black holes are really cool
That is true.
🙂
I had a friend in high school that was interested in astronomy too!
we started a project to build our own telescope. It was on Instructables the project. We took a Physics 2 book and we started to study lens. He made himself the body of the telescope with PVC.
PVC is a plastic.
... I passed trought a very bad situation now... I was helping a high school student from Canada on discord (using microphone) and I kind of spent some time with him explaining mechanical physics... and he asked me can you help me on 7th of July 13pm-15pm (a few times). It really felt like he wanted help to solve his test from school and when I said I couldn't he didn't want help anymore. There's wrong people all over the world...
It was so nice to help him with questions... but he made me feel really bad in the end.
sigh people trying for shortcuts
people dont realize that merely means person dont know stuff
If he spent 3h with me he would understand everything. I could literally do this now. It is friday and I can start to study 9am tomorrow, no problem
There are concepts that if he learn now in mechanical physics it could help him solve problems for physics 2 and 3, like dealing with units, manipulating the cartesian plane, thinking about particles it would be easier for him.
when i was in college, i always tried to understand structure as much as I can
that way when i learn stuff, its like stacking stuff
not like trying to stack on water or soft sand
If you take a subject from electrical engineering it is like this
there are 3 units in the semester, 3 tests.
if you do good in test 1, you will do good in test 2 and you will do good in test 3.
but if you do bad in test 1, you will do bad in test 2 and you will do bad in test 3.
because they are completely related.
it's like how will you use L'Hopitals without knowing derivatives and limits.
heh i used to know that
and yeah i remember how hard it is to turn around. thankfully in most cases i kept u[
It is harder to learn triple integrals if you do not learn double integrals
as well as it is hard to learn energy conservation
without knowing kinematics
it is harder to learn momentum without knowing kinematics because there are questions involving momentum and kinematics!
indeed
I feel bad about the boy.
i suspect he wanted to change time so he commucates with you during test
you can lead horse to water but cant make it drink
yes.
only so much you can do
I remember doing the same I did today in middle school
I kid asked me to give him aswers to the test.
and I didn't give him!
because it was so hard to me to understand everything, studying the whole day while he was surfing or something like this.
I explained exactly this.
and I did not give him the answers
I told him this after the test.
There was a movie that I watched in the past Les Choristes (it is a french movie), that kid from high school made me remember a very bad kid in the movie really (the high school kid from Canada), that did a bunch of wrong things...
I told the middle school kid that years ago in this green area.
it feels like yesterday really.
This is how my father told me to register my ideas ,projects and circuit designs.
It is called "Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Intelectual".
It means "National Institute of Intelectual Property"
basically I must register everything that I do that is valuable, this is the rule, before saying to anyone.
I don't know how straithfoward it is to do it in your country.
I am registered in the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Intelectual.
To heck with macropads, gonna build a whole keyboard :O
In your country there must be something like this.
there are multiple actions you can do about your patent, like if someone is copying your idea, you just choose the option for them to analyse and they will protect your idea/project, them it must start the fight.
It must be exactly the same in your country because it is an international law.
Patents are issued for specific designs tho, not a general concept
Plus I don't think you can get the patent (or retain it if you do) if someone else proves prior art
They didn't until recently, I lucked out :D last of those switches and keycaps!
how much were they
I actually got 120 for $25!
idk why glorious is doing stuff with gateron
glorious already makes their own switches
shrug
so is that just the case pcb and plate
i had no idea glorious was selling a full size kit
oh they are
i have not been following them for a while
oh, youre not into keyboard building i take it?
Not really, this is my first real foray
so lubing, you take each switch apart and brush on certain key switch lube and there are gasket like films you put in between the housings
its a process
Ahh... I assume the lube gives you smoother travel? What does the film do?
it dampens and deepens the sound
also reduces keycap wobble
both lube and films make your switches sound so much better
Hmmmm.... Well, I like the clickity-clackity, so I probably wouldn't lube
but youre using blues so it wont do anything
Probs gonna skip XD
the click is caused by a jacket i believe so it would be impossible to remove that sound
It's amazing how different the Gateron blues sound compared to.... whatever is in the Redragon I'm typing on
Oh, they say Redragon on them
Low profile MX compatible
Guess they're rebranded from whoever they use
and most people prefer gats over cherries although they are the same design
just manufactured differently
I do like the Gateron sound over whatever the Redragon is -- the Redragon has a metallic reverb/vibration to it, the Gaterons don't
yep, the red dragon switch uses a super cheap click jacket that goes down then up
and since its suspended by a spring, there is reverb and ring
Kailh whites have a louder click, but it feels like it's the same actuation force? Or at least close?
here is a cheap film i put on my gat browns a while back
i think the kailh whites are definitely heavier and they use a click bar
Ah
so its actuation point feels different too
I can't really feel a difference, but it's also almost midnight XD
I like both tho, sound good, feel good
Need to get some sleep... night night
i may be wrong about the whites click process
the gateron ink blacks are top tier sounding switch though, especially when filmed and lubed
check it out sometime
I'mma design my own switch that's rainbow, and when you click it, it sounds like a thousand keys clicking at once
Keeboar! :D
Ohhh, the caps come in the order you'd install them... Very nice
Challenge is getting them out XD
@delicate stream you know what the funniest part? the version of m5 did of my work is incomplete.
Incomplete how?
I mean... still could be they were doing a similar thing anyway, no real way of knowing unless you sue and they can't produce proof they were working on it before you said something
shrug
cp needs to be translated to latin

It is huge. Next time I go there I'll hear Frank Sinatra's New York. It is a pretty cool statue. :)
It should be more people here working on Google Maps in my city ( I know there are volunteers that do this...). I use Uber often and sometimes it shows the wrong tragectory. Does it happen in your country too? Actually before the ride begin they should allow the user to decide the tragectory. When this happen I tell the Uber driver to go in a better tragectory.
"wrong" meaning not an optimal path?
map programs no longer are just trying to find the smallest distance along the roads from A to B
they are now a way to influence traffic patterns to make it overall faster for everyone
if they can tell some people to divert to another road, they can reduce the traffic flow on the fastest road and prevent a traffic jam, for example
so it may be 1 minute out of the way for you, but that might make everyone else's commute 1 minute faster
Hmmm the commodore 64 keyboard was an 8x8 matrix plus two special keys (Restore and Caps Lock) that were outside the matrix; so it used 8+8+2=18 pins altogether. An inconvenient 6x11 matrix could have done it in 17. Just contemplating making a keyboard that matches the layout but for use on a modern PC directly. A foolish project, I would never use it much.
I think the RESTORE key was directly connected to a non-maskable interrupt input, so they wouldn't have wanted it in the matrix anyway.
Didn't realize that Caps Lock was special, though... interesting quirk.
errr and I think it was shift-lock, not caps-lock. easier to implement.
I'm a little surprised shift-lock didn't just close the same switch as left-shift, or that the left and right shifts were ganged together. but they must not have needed to save another I/O.
huh I wonder what's good about "semi-box". full box are said to prevent debris ingress when the switch is pressed. https://www.banggood.com/10-or-70-or-110-Pcs-TTC-Gold-Pink-Switches-3PinLinear-Mechanical-Keyboard-Switch-for-DIY-CHERRY-MX-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboards-p-1831092.html?cur_warehouse=CN&ID=511073&rmmds=buy
too bad there are no new locking cherry-style keyswitches. If only I'd known to stock up 7 years ago before Cherry stopped making 'em
I found a fatal flaw with my macro pad design thing
Cherry switches don’t align perfectly in the kicad footprint I used
They can rotate like 30 degrees
So all of the keycaps are at different angles
Yeah I saw something similar with my design. It's surprising how far the keyswitch can twist. If I assemble the 2nd one I'll do it with a 3D printed plate, which will restrict the key rotation. I have a feeling a soldering jig could do the same thing, if you didn't want to add a plate @ancient kindle
the "7" on the left I think is the worst and that's after tried correcting it; the right is fitted BUT NOT SOLDERED with the keys snapped into a 3d printed plate.
I think this is also why there are the "fixation pins" on some cherry compatible keyswitches.
Yeah
fwiw I used kicad's standard footprint and yeah it's pretty loose
vs what I think are kailh switches
that may be what I mean when I say "plate". The piece that the keys can all be snapped into before soldering.
the pcb with the cutouts, in adafruit's design. https://www.adafruit.com/product/5103
though the macropad also uses the sockets and those don't allow the keyswitch to rotate as much
How important is it to the keyswitch to rotate?
It's undesirable
solutions like plates & fixation pins are all about reducing/eliminating it
These fixation pins? Yes. I think it is.
the larger one seems to be present on all cherry mx style keys, but the two smaller ones are not.
when they go into a matching PCB non-plated hole, it will greatly reduce the ability to rotate, compared to the metal pins alone.
I did not understand the mathematics. It has 64 keys (8x8), then why 8+8+2?
8+8 for the matrix, 2 for 2 special keys
Matrixes only need 1 connection per “row” and “column”
Where is the special pins?
an example without the extra 2 plastic posts/pins https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1874/9417/products/Cherry_MX_Switch_Bottom_grande.jpg?v=1541502175
That that’s what cherry does
They don’t give us the fancy helper posts
Luckily these pcbs have the little holes for those things, so I guess I’m gonna go buy some new switches
'night all!
Good night. Nice New York has one hour difference to Sergipe ✅
The fireworks out here are insane
And the police are actually pursuing illegal ones
This is very bad!
It very interesting how fireworks work. Each one has a different chemical element that burns with a different color. My chemistry book had a very small list of some chemical components used and it's colors. The different colors are due to Bohr's chemical model of elements. It is like different molecules has different levels of energy to the electrons jump one to another and depending on this jump they emit a different frequency of light. The packages of energy received (it is like a button, you can give it different forces, but until you reach the right force you can't press it) are discret so are the emission of energy in the jump.
Same general phenomenon that causes different semiconductors to make different colors in LEDs if i remember correctly
I just got burned by fireworks...
They were exploding above where we were sitting, and I felt a prickly feeling on my skin
I just got burned everywhere by micro shrapnel
Did not even know this could happen
I smell of gunpowder
Unfortunately what goes up must come down. Were you able to rinse your arm off some?
That's no good. Hopefully it resolves itself though
Yes, different semiconductors has different tesions to allow the electron to pass, this is the discrete energy to make it go out of it's orbits.
V = J/Q , I think I just answered an old question that I had here, the Joules in V are the Joules in the orbitals of the atoms... Got it ✅ 🥳 .
Yeah it’s fine. Skin is always renewing
Don’t you mean J/C
Joules per Coulomb
What is wrong really is using J in the numerator.
F = kg*a
Like this.
Happy 4th of July!
not for another hour and 10 min for me
🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ ✅ be happy people, there are fireworks and special food, and a lot of great things for you today!
Hopefully not fireworks because so many areas are in severe drought
Yeah, people were shooting fireworks all around where I live in Utah. Yay for people not caring that they could spark fires that could burn the whole town down since things are so dry
When people use fireworks here they are very small. Always. A long time ago a little fire of them felt in my body but I did not feel anything.
4th of July! 🥳 🥳 🥳 🥳 ✅
I was just reading an interesting article about LIGO and VIRGO detecting two collisions between a neutron star and a black hole. It got me thinking about how a planet might orbit a binary star system.
https://astronomy.com/magazine/ask-astro/2020/01/can-solar-systems-exist-in-a-binary-star-system
The reason I got thinking about this is because they posited that for a neutron star and a black hole to collide, they would need to start as a super massive binary star system
For an HVAC condenser unit?
Apparently they found a planet orbiting in a trinary star system. https://manyworlds.space/2016/07/07/three-star-ballet-with-exoplanet/
You can make your own transformers
You can make high voltage supplies too. But the caveat is it is very dangerous
I know, a friend taught me recently and I took couses on university teaching me this experimentaly.
The reality is if you have the knowledge you can do it
It’s usually a matter of if you should.
The history of hot water tanks is a good example of how much effort has gone into taking something mundane and making it work very well. But the caveats of the history of them is how dangerous the process was and how many ordinary people died before they became mostly safe
I want to order like I order PCBA, there are companies that do this?
Contract manufacturers usually offer varying levels of product support
Some will even do standards and conformity testing for national certification processes
But you can do a lot with a 3D printer
Ok. How can I use a 3D printer to make a transformer.
A plastic transformer?!
I want them to put all the components in the electrical project, like PCBA, in the case of an air condictioner: the cooler, the motor... Etc
But, my project, everything in the place that I want and all the parts that I want, just like PCBA.

For the enclosure of an AC unit you’d need some place that makes sheet metal enclosures
You would send that enclosure to a contract manufacturer
The contract manufacturer would probably assemble your PCB and then end product
But that’s usually very expensive
They only make a lot of units? They accept creating just one?
For instance plenty of contract manufacturers in the US cost $100/hr + the cost of the components and other materials
A project like making an AC unit could easily cost $2500+ in man hours alone
It’s not impossible, it’s just really expensive
You should only ever consider a contract manufacturer to make a complete product when you plan to sell a commercial product
Using one for PCBA is fine
But typically there is minimum quantity and some parts they likely won’t have that you would have to add yourself
Most people just learn how to do most of it themselves and source as much fully assembled components as they can.
3D printers, basic wood working and metal working tools, a soldering iron or hot air reflow station
How do I find companies to buy my electrical products, like transformers from these contract manufacturers?
(Is it better to ask to my professors?)
Basically you just have to market your products. Sometimes it’s just finding the first person to buy it. If that’s what you’re asking
How do I find the first person(company) to buy it?
You talk to people
Talk about it all the time
Eventually someone will be interested enough to buy it
And sometimes you’ll find people who will share their experience with your product
Aaggrhh... I do not want to worry about sales. I want to worry about engineering... math!
This looks better.
For instance I made this RGB matrix
And someone is sharing them using it
If you want to do this, make a friend with a business major or work for someone else
Nice twitter.
There are only posts related to engineering. You must be very commited.
Oh.. I got it now, it is not your twitter.
It’s a customer’s Twitter, someone who bought a board my company made
All you have to do is find someone who will be your first buyer. It varies by what you make
Making stuff to sell is the easy part that ultimately everyone wants to do, which is great because people should make things. The hard part is selling it. Some things just sell with little effort at all, it’s rare that this happens. Most products never are successful. Most fall time obscurity because they didn’t do enough, did too much, there just wasn’t a need, or a variety of other factors. Sometimes poor planning, lack of reinvestment, etc…
Engineering is fun and important, but learning how to sell is just as important as an engineer.
I hate risks. Actually I go to school to not take risks really, to be solid and stable. I see a lot of books about Steve Jobs, and other sucessful CEO's and these books tell: risk taking is important, but for me is a thing I should not really do at all, never, if feels like skydiving with not a very reliable material, actually you go to school to have the best skydiving material, this is not a risk at all.
Learning itself is a risk. You risk being wrong and wasting time
I learnt english making a bunch of mistakes, but you can't make mistakes often with money.
But the reward of learning is that you understand that living is always a risk. Walking, breathing. Risk exists, but the things that are normal are just risks we’ve learned to mitigate
So long as you don’t break the law, money risks are minor
More money is printed every day
I do not see like this at all.
You are an engineer and probabily you have a great financial life, but even with this I am not educated to risk money with a lot of money or with just a few money.
I almost lost everything due to trusting the wrong people. It was a risk I took. And going to school for engineering was a risk
But money is a risk you learn to manage
Just like driving
And engineering
This is a rule.
Plenty of engineers have ruined their life
My university pay projects, companies give money to research and projects. You see? No risks.
No money going out of my pocket.
Everything you do has consequences whether positive or negative
You have to accept that it is an undeniable fact of life. Everything has risks.
Doing nothing has risks
For the companies and my university.
Literally everything has risks associated
For you too, you may not perceive the risks because they are minimized but risk still exists for you
There is no such thing as having no risk
No risk would imply there being zero repercussions
Which defies the laws of nature
There's no risk
But there's stakes
If he royally hecks up, they may stop giving him monies
But no risk
It is like working for a company.
They invest in your work, it is a risk for them, for you, you just have to do your job.
It's also a risk to depend on there always being a company to give you work.
You may get fired and no one else will hire you.
By working for a company you may also risk losing out on lucrative ventures.
So if he messes up, he risks not getting money for projects
Or risks getting kicked out of university with nothing to show for it if he really messes up
And if you are somewhere where university costs money, there's another risk
No matter how you slice it, risk exists. Those risks are the consequences of actions.
Or the absence of actions
I don't think a universe will kick you out if you mess up a project
Its just stakes
Anyways, idk why you are arguing so hard for this silly ideal, how many discord arguments have you won?
What’s at stake is a risk. I’m just arguing semantics. If you just assume nothing has risks you will have a very sore realization when risks do compound.
And it’s not a silly idea
Not understanding risks and risk mitigation can lead to serious injury over time.
Massive engineering failures happened because risk or stakes as you would put it we’re not properly understood or just ignored
Is this another line you put on the discord argument score board?
Why do you assume there’s a score to hold?
Why are you trying so hard to argue on discord?
I’m having a discussion on risk which is important in engineering. There is no harm in that
Sure, have a great day
Happy fourth
This is why you need education.
That is true.
Wow guys calm down...
Skerr is great so are the others (I think) do not argue for silly reasons.
This "no one else will hire you " probabily happen if you are a wrong person
No one wants wrong engineers. Everybody values right people.
Like: no plotting against someone, making another employee be harmed...
This is a very bad situation.
I remember reading about that person who made NASDAK fall, his son participated in the wrong actions, he was gratuated from the University of Michigan and nobody wanted to hire him anymore, because he was wrong.
I should try a pizza-from-scratch one of these days
This dough is good enough for 4x 35cm pizzas
Pizza has been my july 4th dinner since like forever lol
If you do thin crust, 4x 40cm
It’s never been consistent for me. Sometimes hamburgers, sometimes chicken wings, pizza sometimes
Ribs on occasion but I do try to avoid heavy pork meals
@scenic oakto make pizza from scratch, you first need to create earth, sun and the rest of universe...
...
I was remembering studying for the entrance exam for my university.
I started studying very early, like in my 9th grade.
It was a very deep and hard studying.
I loved it. Good times :)
10th grade was the best time of my life , I was at a high school + technical school.
I studied about 14h a day everyday.
It was a school that was a high school + technical school it is called Instituto Federal, they are very famous here in the country.
good lord
Of land? Or from a-leaping? :D
just the meme you shared
A good risk to take is the risk of doing what is right. I will not lie, sometimes is scary, but in my whole life I only got rewarded for doing it (multiple times in completely different situations) and sometimes I even refused the reward :) .
A bunch of my friends absolutely love Halloween and they basically celebrate it from July 5th through Halloween itself.
This is basically them tomorrow
There is extra time to make Halloween's electronics projects
People should do the same with Christimans...
Eating turkeys every week, in the christimans, me, my father and my brother ate a whole chicken instead of a turkey, it was more simple but it was better. 💯 ✅ then a whole chicken in the oven every week.
i love Halloween
Christmas and Thanks Giving are two in the same in terms of expected mindsets and whatnot. So I celebrate the Christmas season from November 1 -> December 31st
Halloween from September 1st -> October 31st
halloween is a pretty nice holiday
catholics should adopt it as their own holiday like they have done with almost every other pagan holiday
and toyotathon too
I wish it was acceptable to keep your Christmas lights up longer
because it's so much work to set them upppppp
I've seen some people who leave them up year round, I feel like it kinda depends on the style of light you like to hang up. The "icicle" style ones seem to rarely be left up but I do see the normal strand lights left up from time to time
I kinda wanna get/make some neopixel strands
I could probably be able to get away with leaving subtle light strands, but I also typically set up a bunch of things in my yard and I really can't get away with that all year round 😛
So... folks from this server? From July 5th through Thanksgiving eve (at the earliest) is Halloween season!
That’s a weee but too long. One month is too short but more than 2 months is just overkill.
"Overkill" is one of my 274 middle names!
You and Sonic The Hedgehog
I mean, if you want to do an epic costume, lots of ahead-of-the-time work really helps.
getting a 10A 250V micro switch.. only in batches of 200.
🤔
fixing a sewing machine.. they over oiled it.
oil went in the micro switch and guess what happened next.
🔥
That sounds like a common enough switch: you should be able to get a suitable one in individual quantities.
:)
Guys, my mother told me to take care with COVID, she said people think it is alread over because of vacines or what else, but it is not. A lot of good friends from my family are not with us anymore because of this virus. Use mask all the time, including inside your house and when you sleep.
The #!%# is that even products from industry can have COVID inside, this is so scary, I am afraid to order food from restaurants, the nurses that come in to our house everyday, the physiotherapist that come in every week... It is all scary.
Sometimes i think it wasn't a mistake.
They knew what this would do to the world and took the money.
Companies here are so in debt their pushing their debt on customers.

... this is really quite something
[the engineering decisions in that blog post is really taking one mistake and running with it to its logical conclusion]
interesting.
One of the best books I've ever read. It is free, you name the price that you pay for it.
I know Daniel Shiffman's work since 2013-2014 , when they started code.org
This is so great, this book is worth gold and you decide the price you pay for it.
Guys, quick question for powerlogging, if i were to calculate the total of the power that's used by an electrical component, for example, i have a power logger that logs the power used by a device in every second, can i just add them up or do i have to divide it by 3600 to get its mWh?
If you are getting one second of a milliwatt measurement of power, that's one milliwatt-second of energy. To convert to milliwatt-hours, you indeed need to divide by 3600.
(To help your intuition, think of milliwatts as like the miles-per-hour number on your speedometer. To get the total distance your car travels, you don't do "65 + 64 + 65 + 66" and conclude you traveled 260 miles in four seconds, but you have to divide by the appropriate ratio of time too.)
