is this one better

#

its for the different modes, of the bno085 where in i2c u connect to sda etc, but uvc u connect to the rx

#

wanting both options

ebon dew
#

in that one your gp13-15 are all connected to GND, that's what the red dots show

limpid sedge
#

ooh

#

ok yea thats a probkem

#

here is what i need

#

wiring options for both of these

#

Board 3V to sensor VIN (red wire)
Board GND to sensor GND (black wire)
Board SCL to sensor SCL (yellow wire)
Board SDA to sensor SDA (blue wire)

#

Board 3V to BNO085 Vin (Red Wire).
Device GND to BNO085 GND (Black Wire)
Device RX to BNO085 SDA (Blue Wire)
Board 3V to BNO085 P0 (Purple Wire).

#

ive already done the first one, im trying to have an option for the second one

#

is it best to have 2 headers to short, one for the sda and one for the 3v

ebon dew
#

i don't understand why you want to short SDA, that's your data line

#

if you want to reset the chip that's what RST is generally for.

limpid sedge
#

i2c and RVC

ebon dew
#

why not use a SPST switch instead of a jumper?

limpid sedge
ebon dew
#

a regular switch you flip

limpid sedge
#

cause these are the events that need to happen when switch is flipped

#

SCL is cancelled
SDA rerouted to RX
P0 is shorted

ebon dew
#

let's take this to the hardware design topic instead of general

thick wind

You could also directly solder it down with male header pins for a permanent connection.

I have one at work, it's pretty ok-ish except for the GPIO is brought out to a weird header size, so my male-male pins get a little crowded. The display update speed isn't great (it's a SPI display), but it's nice to have classic Bluetooth unlike a lot of the other similar devices. There is a WT32-SC01+ (plus) and a MakerFabs board both using the ESP32-S3 and a parallel LCD interface instead of SPI. They have much better performance, but much fewer pins to work with. On the MakerFabs screens, all that's available is the I2C and two GPIO pins. I haven't looked closely at the WT32-SC01+ but I assume the situation is similar owing to most of the pins being taken up by the parallel interface.

What's the benefit of a dedicated USB sniffer like the miniSniffer2 as opposed to a more general logic analyzer? The DSLogic Plus is only $30 more and can be used for things other than USB sniffing. Obviously the miniSniffer2 has dedicated USB input/output, whereas the logic analyzer would need bare wires to connect to, but still.

mellow turret
#

Is the adafruit website down?

late fulcrum
#

The main advantages to a sniffer/analyzer like that are a) it decodes the transactions to give a higher level view of what's going on, and b) it can record the data from long intricate transactions and log them for various kinds of downstream analysis.

#

They're both useful tools, there have been times when something was violating the protocol, and the analyzer didn't catch it, because it assumed everyone was obeying the specifications, but a logic analyzer clearly showed what was really going on.

that's… not how AC works, at least probably not at the frequencies that dynamo is working at. it's more likely that current is flowing in both the wire and the frame at the same time, but the direction is reversing on each cycle. for what you propose to work, the AC frequency would have to be so high that the wavelength is on the order of the distance between the two terminals that you attach to the frame

violet parcel
#

why does the wave of AC kinda looks like PWM?

static flare
violet parcel
#

except cut in half horizontally

ebon dew
#

you mean a sine wave?

violet parcel
#

yeah

ebon dew
#

2 phase is opposite sine waves, 3 phase is 3 waves.

whole jacinth
#

what do you mean by cut in half? are you looking at rectified AC?

ebon dew
#

PWM can modulate the peak to peak pulses, hence pulse width. AC expects a specific wave frequency.

#

a lot of things in electricity look similar, it's all electric.

#

square waves are just digital sine waves

whole jacinth
#

if you PWM a sine wave, it'll look like a regular sine wave after filtering, but with a DC offset (unless you're doing something that can do bipolar output, or level shifting)

violet parcel
#

i mean like pwm doesn't go under the x axis like a sine wave so no negative voltage* (normally unless you plug the motor wrong)

whole jacinth
#

yeah a PWM peripheral on most MCUs won't produce negative voltages

tardy badger
#

Get an opamp, charge pump inverter to generate your negative voltage to supply to your inverting input and bam bobs your uncle

#

It’s more complicated but I like to oversimplify unfortunately

whole jacinth
#

this is why motor divers have H-bridges: drive both ends of the winding to get the required AC, as long as you don't need to ground one end of the winding

violet parcel
#

but motor can generate back emf with volateg and amp right? so on an oscilloscope the back pwm signal would looks like ac?

ebon dew
#

@static flare if you intend on using extrusion with rollers make sure to get V-slot extrusion and not T-slot extrusion. roller wheels for modern printers all use v-roller wheels.

whole jacinth
#

what kind of motor? brushed DC? brushless? induction?

violet parcel
#

brushed or brushless(when i can afford it)

static flare
whole jacinth
violet parcel
#

ok do dc motor absolutely need pwm or they break or one can connect one to a gpio and a resistor in series before it?

#

when i was a kid i broke several dc cheap motors because i didnt know about amps but it is nice to just test if my motor works without having to code to send a pwm signal to it or will that break it too?

whole jacinth
whole jacinth
violet parcel
#

like back then i didn't know anything and would just plug it directly to a 9v battery and it would blow up in a couple of seconds

#

i assume it was because of a lack of resistor?

whole jacinth
#

yeah lacking a resistor is one possible cause, and/or too much voltage

violet parcel
#

and just because it was a very cheap 10 centa motor in a 5 dollar r/c?

whole jacinth
#

it's hard to say without seeing the motor

but Ive seen similar ones on digi-key etc in the 1$ range, as simple as can be, 2 fragile looking solder and a red and black wire

#

these sort of motor always came with the chepeast possible alkaline battery usually an eveready back then that was marked as "heavy duty" but would be out of juice after the 10 minutes evaluation period

whole jacinth
#

3 or 4 alkaline cells, especially if they're small like AAA or AA, might also have enough internal resistance to limit the current to safe levels for those motors (old Lego Technic motors used 3xC cells with no current limiting, i think)

#

also, running a motor with no mechanical load is a good way to overspeed it if you're not doing current limiting. if it came attached to a gear box, leave that on while testing to provide at least some mechanical load

violet parcel
#

that part is always a bit confusing to me, let me find a specific example. Like having the same battery power both the motor and the arduino so it can send pwm to it to drive it but the motors usually need a different voltage. So I have to use a shield because I have no idea how to do it myself

#

specially sending 2 ground from 2 different circuit is what confuse me

violet parcel
#

Im confused because the arduino and motor are 2 different voltages yet Id have 2 ground to the same powerback with 2 dfferent voltages. Red is power, black is GND and blue is PWM

#

or Im supposed to use 2 powerpacks ?

#

btw I just randomly took the first I could find on google that seemed to be electronics sized, not an actual potential purchase as an example

#

yes but does the voltage of the GND matter ?

#

the motor was says 24V would it be an issue the GND is 5V from the arduino and 24V from the motor ? Could it trickle back in the GND wire of the arduino and destroy it (ie: like negative voltage/AC)?

late fulcrum
#

Generally it's used as a shared reference, so everything agrees, but in cases where there is significant current flow, you may have to pay attention to voltage drops. Also, on your picture it was 9V, not 24V.

violet parcel
#

voltage drop? like leds or as in the difference of voltage between the two GND ?

dusty citrus
#

If you check with an oscilloscope's probe tip (leaving the scope input floating with respect to ground) and probe the points you think are ground, you can get a comparison. If they are not close they are not referenced to the 'same' ground.

#

Risk of smoke when you even try. ;)

#

That applies to mains powered oscilloscopes using 3 prong interconnect to commercial power. idk what happens with battery-operated oscilloscopes (at all).
The recommendation to test grounds that way came out of Tektronix literature. A scope primer.

Hey guys, so i have recorded the power across a load overtime delievered by 3.7V li ion battery, and by recording the power value each second, i have plotted a graph of power vs time. How can i calculate mAh of battery ? (I also have voltage and current for each second logged)
x axis is time in seconds
y axis is power in milliwatts
the jump at 2080 seconds is because I decreased the value of load resistor
End time = 6277 seconds
Summation of all power values = 12699253.07 mW
Is it even possible ?
(to calculate mAh of battery)

#

These are all the values logged
voltage is voltage across load , current is current through load, power is power across load , time is in seconds

late fulcrum
timid wave
#

that figure is just summation of power reading over time , not total power
I WANT to calculate the watt hour and i am asking how do i do that from the values i have

What units are your time?

Seconds

kw.h are so weird to me that I don't even want to understand the maths. I just use a converter. considering that 1W is 1 joule per second I don't see why they had to overcomplicate it. Like when they says the US uses X GW.h in a year or my electricity bill says my lights used 6 kw.h in a month I get so confused...

#

if they used like 6 kw.month Id understand that I have to divide it by (365.25/12)2460) to figure out the watt actually used as in j per second

#

also it seem that every power company has a different definition. seems like the goal is really electricty bills obfuscation

#

so that you cant tell if there is a correlation between replacing an old stove with a new one that uses less power and see a lower bill

whole jacinth
#

it's the units that the electric company finds most convenient to use for billing.

along with heating degree days and cooling degree days for seasonal comparisons

the only thing i know for sure is that the led bulb above me is rated for around 22w but pulls 23 or 24w from the socket so it uses 0.024kw*h

#

because no bulb is 100% efficient in real life

#

just like my 80% rated psu is rated at 650w so it pulls like 800w from the socket

#

but i dont know how to actually measure it myself so the power company could be making my bill up and I have no way to test

whole jacinth
#

the LED bulb actually probably pulls 22W at the rated voltage. if your line voltage is a little higher, it'll draw slightly more power

arent led light bulbs about 95 to 97% efficient?

I mean how did gps that are up there since 1970s survive it ?

tardy badger

Not in LEO, and not given the fact that they’re designed to burn up after a certain amount of time anyway

violet parcel

Im sure a satlink in a satellite armored like an m1a2 sep would survive it..

I see

tardy badger
#

LEO satellites rarely ever has shielding to protect from solar storms because the missions are considered short term

violet parcel
#

wait starlink is the name of two types of satellite

crystal ore
#

It's not that the solar storm fries the satellite, it's that it heats up the atmosphere, which puffs up and causes more drag during the critical period where the satellites are trying to raise their orbits to where they should be.

violet parcel
#

was that a musk satellite or an old communication satellite with the old starlink for cars?

#

that fell down ?

#

Btw for the motors earlier I asked because someone asked about 6 servos the other day in #arduino they were powering a helmet with directly from the arduino

and I knew it was an issue of not enough power but I couldn't explain to them if they needed another battery ppack to connect the batteries to the servo directly and only use the arduino to pwm them

tardy badger

Yeah

violet parcel

but it's not a 1 minute thing apparently

They were commenting on the movie where that happens in the opening scene

#

I think chris hadfield was thinking about it ? or the first woman astronaut in the US ? on youtube nasa channel or wired or something similar to this

grizzled raptor
#

They say the closest theatrical representation if space decompression and all that was the scene from 2001: a space odyssey, when Dave has to leave the pod to get back on the ship, and he didn't have his helmet.

That could what they were talking about

violet parcel
#

What surprised me a bit is that they weren't so concerned if someone tether broke off but I don't know why

#

was aslong the line of probably could be reached by the robotic arm or could probably drift back to the ISS with a speed difference like if they throw something behind them

#

But apparently using the jets is a very very last resort

#

I think the movie was gravity (2013) ?

#

And there is a fight/explosion into the ISS

grizzled raptor
#

Yup, that is also a pretty good representation of it the experts have said.

tardy badger

Gravity

violet parcel

Well they gave it 1/10 for realism

tardy badger
#

Interstellar was cool though. Tons of science research went into it

violet parcel

especially the jets thing, dying instantly in space, that there would even be a fight, misrepresentation of how gravity works

Old school movie of course, 1968. Because it came out 55 years ago.

#

about 4:10 in it actually happens

violet parcel
#

I kinda enjoyed contact but always thought it was pseudo-sciency and also really disliked 2001 space odyssey because I didn't understand the story that was being told and asked for a refund after 30 minutes but I wasn't on anything

#

And I was told to fully enjoy the movie "one had to be on mush or a joint" or something

#

but I was never interested in such things so

grizzled raptor
#

The book explains much more.

The monolith was left by aliens. It trained the monkeys, killed ones that failed the mental tests. They created humans. The monoloth on the moon was the test to see if we advance enough. The deep space one was to see who was the chosen one. The star child.

That's it in a nutshell. We are a science experiment.

#

They created humans through intelligent selection .

violet parcel
#

I don't know if it counts as a remake but I saw the one where there is a monolith on mars

#

and it teleports to the artic etc

grizzled raptor
#

The second movie. There were a coulme books.

violet parcel
#

(and I don't want to see more and spoil the ending since it's under the 5yr old movie exemption for spoilers)

#

Didn't even know that.

#

Mars Attack

violet parcel
#

It felt like a remake of space odyssey except with a mix of total recall

#

Yeah when we went on mars that really shattered my illusions and sprituality

#

Since then I don't feel that mankind is any special and I don't feel like it's worth spending much money on space anymore

#

Since our solar system feels empty and boring and not special at all 😦

tardy badger
#

I mean, it’s pretty wild that we even exist

violet parcel
#

Yeah but I find it hard to believe in afterlife even though it's special that we exists. But so do cats, or intelligent things like whales and dolphins

tardy badger

violet parcel

For the afterlife it's because no one ever came back so who's to say my theory is any more valid than anyone else?

tardy badger

hushed cave

this sounds like it carries more weight than "hey I took this test and passed" lol

tardy badger
#

Like implementing a light controller with FreeRTOS on a Arm based WiFi or Bluetooth microcontroller

#

This being if you’re looking at embedded work

#

Projects also help demonstrate the ability to be adaptive and to be able to learn new skills

tardy badger
#

Exactly

#

Plus projects give you the opportunity to share difficulties and how you overcame them which highlights the problem solving skills EdKeyes mentioned

hushed cave

they could also sub for the certs as experience

well there goes 200 dollars in test fees but maybe they'll be useful for something later

tardy badger
#

Certificates are kind of useless if you can’t apply it

#

Which is why demonstrable projects will always carry more weight for hiring managers

#

There will be a few places that care more about credentials than they do ability to apply knowledge but that’s changing pretty quickly

#

I’d only consider certificates as supplemental to actual experience doing things either on personal projects or in your current role.

#

And this is also feedback I’ve got from recruiters too

You definitely want to be familiar with the Office suite, but the certifications are a waste of time and money unless you're specifically applying for a secretarial position, as that tends to be their bread and butter. A lot of organizations are even moving away from Office anyway, using things like Google Docs [some places are totally no Microsoft and use Docs, Workspaces, don't even have Windows machines...]

tardy badger
delicate stream

I'd say in general, only get certs if you're looking at a job that wants those certs... otherwise you may never need the certs. For example, I'm in IT, and while the A+ is a standard, I've yet to work in a position that required it

#

[also some certs, like the A+, lag pretty well behind industry standards, so they're not really helpful anyway]

#

I almost got my A+ in like 2002, but they still covered Windows 98 as the newest if I recall... when 2000 and NT were pretty common

tardy badger
#

A+ is actually a lot better now

delicate stream
#

O ya? Well, still, it's time and money to get it [maybe just time and effort if your company will pay for it], but it's not generally necessary

#

Especially since now A+ needs to be renewed, if you get that and don't use it, you really did waste the money

#

[assuming you actually know the contents of the A+ anyway, when I was thinking about getting mine, I knew some stuff better than the training materials, lol]

i tested the battery pack with a multimeter, i get 11.85v .. (3 batteries in the pack, im guessing 18650) so looks good?

the dimension of the microcontroller? board? is 30mm by 34mm.

the switch is normally opened.. but the third leg for NC config is still present.. i did feel some warmth when the battery was full, and im wondering if this was causing some overheating/drainage..

the third leg is not soldered in the board like the 2 other legs

#

sorry this is a big wall of text. i can provide pictures if needed?

#

is there a microcontroller i can use to replace it? or an easy way to fix this?

#

or can someone redirect me to the appropriate channel?

ebon dew
#

picture of the area of the pcb could help

#

yes pictures, as many as you can of both sides of the pcb as close as you can, clear images please.

ebon dew
#

the third leg is optional that's fine

#

if you look close it'll say NC, NO, C

hidden kayak
#

yup

ebon dew
#

Normally closed, normally open, common

#

it's a configurable switch, with options.

#

depending on how it's used

#

that's not the issue and i don't see anything obvious jumping out. maybe some kind of mosfet overheating. look for signs of tiny burn spots on the mosfet.

#

You can use a multimeter with continuty to test some traces

#

what does the little black wire go to the battery pack?

hidden kayak
#

mosfet is the dp3080, c1l0208 square one in the back right?

ebon dew
#

because on the back one of the silkscreens say NTC which is a thermistor

hidden kayak
#

yeah the thermal probe was touching the battery pack, makes sense

ebon dew
#

yes the dp in the back

#

LDO near R16 should be looked at closely, power regulator

#

actually looks like there's two of them the other near R14 too

#

the 3rd leg of that switch is probably not connected to anything, can't be 100% sure without a schematic because that traces is running pretty close to it as well.

#

the switch leg should work, the question is if the PCB actually uses it in any way.

#

also ii don't see an LED

hidden kayak
#

hmm im no pro, but even with my macro lens on the phone, there isnt anything obvious that looks bad.. like lets say a capacitor that blew

#

the LED is to the right of r12 i think, just below the connector. thats where the hole in the plastic casing is for the charging LED

#

i get a beep between C and NC

ebon dew
#

when the switch is still open?

hidden kayak
#

yeah

ebon dew
#

i'll assume the LED is to let you know of charging status so that should still be working even if the on/off switch isn't.

#

can it only be charged while off would be a good question

hidden kayak
#

hmm, let me try 3 or 4 usb cables

ebon dew
#

do you get a beep between c and nc while the switch is pressed?

grizzled raptor
#

The NC leg isn't even soldered into the board, so it's unlikely it's part of the circuit at all. Not sure if you noticed that.

ebon dew
#

do you get a beep between c and no while the switch is pressed too

#

yes i'm aware but if the switch is malfunctioning it doesn't matter if it's hooked up or not because i don't see any separation from the NC via meaning it could be shorted to gnd

hidden kayak
#

C and NO, pressed switch, yes

ebon dew
#

now c and nc while pressed

hidden kayak
#

also, tried 5 different usb cables, i get no LED to light up. but idk if i need the battery to be plugged in

ebon dew
#

checking for a switch failure

hidden kayak
#

C and NC, while pressed no

ebon dew
#

led is sitting next to the battery JST so stands to reason it's for battery power? i don't know. i've never seen that board before so no clue how it's supposed to work and without a schematic it's all guessing from this end.

#

ok that's a good thing switch looks ok

#

the more info you can provide about what happens when it operates normally is most beneficial for helping you to troubleshoot.

hidden kayak
#

i tried the usb cables, with battery plugged, nothing

ebon dew
#

there doesn't appear to be anything obviously physically wrong visually

hidden kayak
#

so pressing the switch for 3 seconds, turns on the blower, then you can press the button, to have more power, 3 power settings total. then hold for 3 more seconds to turn off

ebon dew
#

possible i'm missing something, having more sets of eyes to look it over is helpful. maybe others here will take a look and spot something.

#

the logic has to be coming from the b2oc chip on the back

hidden kayak
#

the FMD chip right? fremont micro devices

#

is there a way to connect to it and check the code?

#

im guessing usb would be too easy for these things.. probably some weird connection that has to do with 3 or 4 pins on the chip itself

ebon dew
#

i see no information on the b2qchfh or the other small one below it l2f2301

#

depends on the IC's usually it's hardcoded and you'd need a debugger or logic analyzer.

#

this is as much as I can help, hopefully someone else comes along and takes a stab at it, i'm out of ideas.

hidden kayak
#

are you aware of any microcontroller that could do the same kind of job as this one? id like to Frankenstein that thing. i like tinkering and this is a simple enough project lol

#

found some ali express reviews with pictures of the board.. its in russian tho

wanton thistle
#

so I had an MRI done and I really have to wonder what kind of electronics went into that thing because it seems like black magic almost

#

MRI's seem like magic anyway. "Oh hey we can take pics of your brain if we just align these protons for a nano second"

tardy badger
#

That’s the very un-nuanced version of what happens

wanton thistle
#

yea but I mean, Im trying to think of the circuitry and electrical design to power such magnets

#

It seems very very complex

tardy badger
#

It is

wanton thistle
#

and I doubt I can find even an inkling of whats involved out of curiosity lol

tardy badger
#

It’s probably one of the most complex medical machines used today

wanton thistle
#

Yes. Probably slightly less complex than LHC

#

but very very cool tech

#

I asked the tech and she said "It uses very advanced physics" lmaoo

#

Shes not wrong

tardy badger
#

John’s Hopkins University says that it realigns the atoms in your body and reads the radio waves emitted

#

Kind of wild

whole jacinth
#

it knocks on all the protons in your body (with superconducting magnets and RF) and listens to the sound

violet parcel
wanton thistle
#

The sounds you hear are nuts too

dusty citrus
#

Those machines are usually docless and crazy expensive to repair
So you find often health facilities desperately looking for repairs men

wanton thistle
violet parcel
#

After that it measures the property of hydrogen for the base images

#

But I assume to make magnets go N-N which they dont do naturally it takes a lot of energy

wanton thistle
#

Yea, I tried looking around the room for any big cords and didnt see any. Id imagine the thing just takes crazy amounts of energy

violet parcel
#

apparently it takes a lot of magnetic measurements, measuring time between signals from an initial excited state of matter etc it filter it out to lessen the noise value that's why MRI takes a couple of minutes according to the book

whole jacinth
#

my understanding is that the superconducting magnet takes a large amount of energy to charge up, but it happily stays that way as long as you keep it (very) cold

violet parcel
#

The book is from 2010, but still the basic concept should still be the same

#

To image a cross-image of a tissue they varies the exciting frequency of a gradient field

#

That math is way about my level, just trying to summarize it

#

it mention superconducting coils and about 2T of magnetic fields

#

There is two types of MRI apparently, one that uses a magnetic field under 1T but doesn't need superconducting coils but has less resolution but is lower power and still fine for a lot of imaging needs

#

Hopefully that help a bit @wanton thistle 🙂 I don't understand most of it

#

It's just 5 pages so doesn't have instructions on how to make one with arduino 🤣

wanton thistle
#

yea, I heard the Cryopump, so it must be the bigger one

#

at one point the whole thing was shaking and I felt like I was on a rocket ship lol

#

"It would be cool if this thing could open a black hole, kind of like Half Life"

violet parcel
#

Honestly Id just try to find a patent for one, probably would be easier to understand

#

Because the claims in a patent have to be understood by the patent examiner to have legal weight.

wanton thistle
#

😅 thats a 10PM rabbit hole to go down. I already looked up what the various sounds were and what they were imaging

violet parcel
#

My hospital almost exclusively uses siemens stuff

wanton thistle
#

I didnt catch which ones they use. Ive used Siemens PLCs though, and they are "OK"

violet parcel
#

this would be one for instance when you are rested: https://patents.google.com/patent/US10789740B2/en

tardy badger
#

Lol… just had a pair of door knockers stop by my house

#

(I live in Utah so this means I had LDS missionaries at my door)

#

I very quickly say “we’re not interested, thank you bye!”

violet parcel
#

Did you wish you had star trek style forcefields ?

tardy badger
#

Yea

#

My corgi was trying to escape too

violet parcel
#

Best way to avoid door knockers would be to make the door unreachable so you can't hear it and have the shield that prevent this from conducting sounds

wanton thistle
#

Oh Idk why that has someones name

#

That MRI data processor though...wonder if its a mini super computer

violet parcel
#

I just find that looking at patents and linked patents generally explain things better than dry academic books in a language that non-academic can understand 🙂

wanton thistle
#

So many interesting things going on lol

violet parcel
#

Also it's real-world devices that peoples buy not "theorical" machines in a course

wanton thistle
#

lol also they labeled the patient as "Victim"

violet parcel
#

nah I added that cuz I like adding jokes 😄

wanton thistle
#

lmao

violet parcel
#

that's just a 10 sec paint thing

wanton thistle
#

"This side up"

#

Watching videos of people throw stuff in MRI machines was fun.

#

I wonder what happens if you throw a copper bar inside of one

#

because a magnet in a copper bar slows down.

violet parcel
#

actually you know the other fun thing about patents ?

wanton thistle
#

you can build one yourself?

#

lol

violet parcel
#

You wonder what the mri data processor is

wanton thistle
#

Ive found patients with the actual circuits for home appliances. That stuff is awesome

violet parcel
#

but there is 42 written next to it, which mean they also describe it sufficiently to protect it as part of the patent

wanton thistle
#

hmmm "42"

#

Run by Towels and a falling Whale?

violet parcel
#

no 42 refers to paragraphs in the patent

#

ie: 0042. The MRI system starts Parallel imaging subroutine A (step S300). The object to be scanned is placed in the MRI system (step S302). This step includes, in addition to placing the object in the MRI gantry in a manner suitable for scan
ning, configuring the MRI system for executing the scanning sequences appropriate for acquiring the desired type of diagnostic images. Configurations may include selection of prescan and main scan sequences, reduction factor associated
with parallel imaging, gradient configurations, and the like.

#

but in this case they dont describe the MRI data processor so they probably have another patent for it that describe it and the algorithms

wanton thistle
wanton thistle
violet parcel
#

I prefer victim to object personally

#

I mean they are being bombarded by a magnetic field

#

well they have to be verbose and specific when they describe what they protect. Writing these is the sole career of some peoples. The one registering it want to be as general as possible while the patent office want it to be as specific as possible

violet parcel
#

After that they can see eh that other MRI system does the same thing as us so they violated our patent so they own us money

#

Basically you claim something and you use the numbered paragraphs section as a dictionnary/specification to explain what the claim mean as specific as possible

#

In this case they dont claim this MRI figure as an invention so they don't describe it in details, they just use it as a example of a typical MRI

wanton thistle
#

I wonder if I can find schematics for an air fryer

#

(Ive already taken one apart-so its a curiosity thing)

violet parcel
#

probably but for larger devices that is usually not in a patent but in trade secrets

#

oh btw, I wouldnt use the schematic straight if the patent is still active

#

because even if it's for non-profit/hobbyist the fine is pretty steep

fierce prawn
#

Does the chrome browser ble security key with phone actually works reliability
I tryed and it works with edge too

#

There is this patent I really want to infringe on

#

Since it won't expire for another decade

You can run an MRI machine with an XBox. If it’s one of the old ones, lol. I have field manuals for some old GE models

violet parcel
#

I like to imagine one day we will have a colony on an ice moon or asteroid

#

and computers will have the reverse problem

#

like you will try to make it hot enough to run

delicate stream
#

Most processors don't have cold bugs anymore

olive dome
#

I think you can move to Canada

delicate stream
#

Anything over 20K is fine

violet parcel
#

Pretty sure they have cold bugs at 50 kelvins

delicate stream
#

Not most modern Intel and AMD desktop chips. At least not as far as I know -- but it's kinda hard to get things that cold

#

And keep them cold

violet parcel
#

Doesn't electrons slow down as temperature get very cold right ? It's not a cpu thing it's a physics thing no?

#

And europa can be that cold depending on where you are same with the shadow side of asteroids

olive dome
#

So moving to Canada might be better option: you get cold enough and you also got free health care as a bonus.

violet parcel
#

Im already in Canada

#

and the free healthcare imply someone pick the speed for you

delicate stream
#

I mean, everything slows down when you get cold enough, lol. But once the processor starts up it can get pretty hot pretty fast, so unless you’re in a totally uninsulated environment…

violet parcel
#

sometimes that result in healthcare facility deciding your issue deserves to wait 6 hours and you just die while waiting

#

ie: free healthcare has issues too like the lack of choice

delicate stream
#

As much as people rag on the US healthcare system, a lot of that money goes into equipment. US has far more and far newer MRI machines than Canada, for example, so it’s a lot faster to get into a machine for a scan here

#

Might cost two legs and a kidney, but it’s fast and high resolution

violet parcel
#

It's the same thing with student loans in canada (I mean guaranted here)

#

they will restrict how much you can borrow

#

in the US it's far less restricted because it will be your problem eventually anyway

#

Also if you are the best student in Canada you only get 10000$ from the governor of canada

olive dome
#

I see, but comparing costing legs and arms I might pick 6 hours wait....

delicate stream
#

I’ve got like $32k in student loans and I dunno if I’ll ever shake that

violet parcel
#

whereas in the US you might get a full scholarship for all of university at a big university like harvard or the MIT and 500000$ in research funds/living expenses

#

I can name the person this happened to in Canada if you insist 🤣

delicate stream
olive dome
#

If I got a bill of 100K then I might just be

violet parcel
#

this happened to me before, if they had triaged me wrong I would have died

delicate stream
#

The thing with US healthcare partly comes down to insurance and how sick you are. If you don’t have a lot of problems, and have good insurance, the actual healthcare can be inexpensive

#

Even emergency stuff. I had to go to the hospital after a car accident, and paid nothing for the ambulance and care

#

Well, nothing on top of my regular insurance

olive dome
#

Yeah I agree, I'm half joking about the healthcare

violet parcel
#

also in Canada hospitals find a lot of way to make it not free

delicate stream
#

Healthcare is complicated. If you’re uninsured in the US… oops that broken leg cost $80k

violet parcel
#

like they charge 50$ to 100$ a day for a room when you are hospitalized

#

internet and cable costs 25$ a day

#

etc

olive dome
#

I have free healthcare in Taiwan also, which isn't that bad as it sounds like in Canada

#

There are trade offs

delicate stream
#

Mhmm

violet parcel
#

thankfully not all province are the same and I once flew to another province because I had a medical problem and it had waited for too long

tardy badger
#

Idk, I’d take Canada health care over paying $400 a month in order to have the option to have my healthcare costs covered after I spend an additional $4k for myself, and $4k at a 30% co-pay for my family until I hit my $8000 out of pocket maximum at an in network provider

violet parcel
#

I pay 200$ a month for healthcare insurance too, because anything that isn't direct healtcare isn't covered

delicate stream
#

US has some of the best medical technology, but countries like Canada are accessible to everyone. Homeless folks can get help far more easily when they aren’t turned away for being uninsured, or have to worry about having a massive bill they could never pay

violet parcel
#

Like if I break my wrist xray seeing the doctor etc is covered

#

but not the work after I see the doctor which cost 100$ per hour

tardy badger
#

The X-ray is like $1000

violet parcel
#

Like the professional when you using something to stretch your wrist etc so it heal over time nbetter and so you can use it again one day

#

not sure what is the US word but some kind of physio?

#

that's not covered, only my 200$ a month insurance cover such things and even then it stops at like 1000$ at 70% refund with 200$ I pay myself a year. So if it's a major injury it's going to cost me a lot

#

dental care is typically not covered in canada either and can run about 4000$

#

routine work is about 200$ an hour, most health insurance plan don't even cover it even if you pay

#

so yeah, I'm just saying when you say Canada healthcare is free there is a lot of ifs and but

#

Like I just checked similar services in new york and they are about the same prices

delicate stream
#

Oof… I have like a $10 copay for dental, and some procedures cost me like $100 (like a full root canal and capping)

#

But I have basic dental

tardy badger
#

My dental has a $50 deductible and covers 50% up to $2000

violet parcel
#

Im just trying to says that healthcare cost is not just the cost of seeing a doctor in an emergency room which is clearly much cheaper in Canada even taking into account the 100$ a day rent when you are hospitalized. Healthcare is also when you break your wrist playing a sport of your leg and you have to see a physio, if you break your teeth etc....

tardy badger
#

So I still end up paying $2000+ for dental work but that doesn’t cover orthotics

violet parcel
#

typically ambulance transport can cost up to 500$ as well, except for specific cases depending on the province

#

and typically they are not covered by private health insurance to prevent abuse

wanton thistle
violet parcel
#

For me it's a bit mind-boggling though

wanton thistle
violet parcel
#

Like states did covid measures, but if you show up in ER with heart problems and you can't afford it they just let you die ?

#

That is so weird for me

wanton thistle
#

theres rules, they have to treat you

#

weither you can afford it, is a different matter

tardy badger
#

But they can be more judicious on the treatment if you’re uninsured

violet parcel
#

yeah but is it worth it when you end up homeless when they seize all your stuff for the 50000$ medical bill ?

wanton thistle
#

if you played Cyberpunk 2077, or watched the Anime they hit it on the mark

tardy badger
#

Like making sure to charge you for the most expensive operation when you’re uninsured

violet parcel
#

Oh also, if you aren't a canadian citizen in Canada you pay a cost like the US btw 😄

wanton thistle
#

But like...when your credit score is in the 700s and dont need any loans, then...you know, it didnt matter

violet parcel
#

Like my girlfriend from france back then had to pay 1000 euros once just to see a doctor and get 1 xray while it's free for me (but her health insurance in France later repaid almost all of it)

#

If it's not an emergency they will actually refuse to see you without examining your health insurance from country with health treaties
