The black rabbit is Ninja, white rabbit is Cozy. My kids named them and are luckily cleaning up after them. Supposedly the manure from their droppings is one of the best as they can be used as cold manure so don't need to compost it to use it. They have so many droppings I'm glad there's a use at least.

After struggling with not eating, being in pain getting up and laying down, among other issues… My wife and I made the difficult decision to bring my pupper Mumford to the rainbow bridge. He passed peacefully after tasting chocolate one last time. RIP mums July 2014 to July 2025. I share this photo in tribute of the joy and love he brought to me and my family.

(update 12.13.25 Jerry’s health "||" has worsened, he’s a level 6 heart murmur along with a tumor on his spine. He’s lost the ability to use his legs and is in severe pain. His heart murmur alone keeps him from having surgery for the tumor. He’s scheduled to be put to sleep on Monday12.15.25 I’m saddened I wasn’t able to sort any type of motor assist for him before his health drastically diminished. I miss him already. He is such an amazing little friend 😭"||")

yeah they have lots of energy alright! he's actually not the worst in that regard. Him and our other dog tire each other out. They have a lovely manner about them though. He is so good with our daugther , he'll purposely go lie down beside her and if shes goes messing with him he doesn't care at all (we'd always be keeping an watch on them though and would never leave them alone or anything)

@next notch We are down the road a way into Multiple Tank Syndrome. A 1 gallon cube that is currently not supporting fish but we're pumping water around it anyway, a 5 gallon planted that has a betta, two snails (for now) but seems to mostly be a hair algae farm, and a 20 gallon planted with a soda-bottle CO2 system, a 24 hour cycle lightbar, and probably too much bioload.
4 otos seem to still survive out of the 9 we put in there.
There were 10 amano shrimp, they are currently either in hiding or have escaped.
We stocked a total of 6 guppies, 1 male and 5 females.
We have given away 30 guppies, and it looks like in a month or so another 20 will be old enough to transport.
We stocked an assassin snail, because the plants came with free snails and scuds.
Don't know how to get rid of the scuds.
If we get another tank, I think I want a wide shallow one, get otos and corys and maybe rasbora
Guppies, though.
And I thought rabbits bred quickly.

Otocinclus are really very effective at consuming algae - something of a delicate fish, yes, but when well fed they can be quite robust!

@next notch Trivia time. I grew up on a tributary of the Amazon River in the Peruvian jungle. We used to swim in the lake and catch plecos by hand as they sucked on the barrels on which the docks floated. We'd throw them in a bucket to take home to our tanks. We'd also catch angel fish using plastic screens. Note: don't put a bunch of angel fish in the same tank just because you can catch them and they're free.
Oh, the trivia was that in the Peruvian Amazon plecos are called "carachamas."

Color me envious, @valid torrent, would love to be able to go catch tropical fish in the Amazon for the tanks at home. A whole lot cheaper, and I understand there are a great many species as yet to make it outside South America. Since there is little or no knowledge of them, there’s no call for them.

@hollow quiver Plecos and angel fish were pretty easy to catch and also something we called a "redtail,' which was like a large-ish tetra but just silver with a redish tail. Aside from that I caught a cichlid once (and they're mean to the other fish!), but that's about it as far as stuff suitable for an aquarium. Course our lake was fairly fished out and we just had a plastic net. Our fish didn't usually last long, but they were easily replenished, for better or worse!

I've kept and bred angels, discus for a bit. The rest were various tankmates. Always had a live plant setup. The lighting rigs on those used to chew through energy like crazy... single highest consumption in the house. I have LED bulbs on the 18 gallon I have now. It's pretty self sufficient with live plants, 75 gallons of filtration and one fish.

He's got a very narrow temperature range, too low and he'll hibernate and pygmy hedgehogs can't come out of that , too hot and he'll get heatstroke. Food is still not 100% understood, but high protein low fat is best from what people have seen, and they're nocturnal so they need 12-14 hours of light year round or they try to hibernate

@fiery spire Absolutely. That's actually what I am trying to get those LED lights working for. I am going to automate his lighting (with softer lights simulating the lunar cycle because why not) and temperature sensing and controlling the heat lamp, as well as a sensor on his wheel to track his activity levels and probably some cameras with different triggers.

@brave robin If I am not mistaken, that is not just the average stray. If it does turn out to just be a cat that took up there, I would have it tested for infections if you plan to keep it. My mom had a ragdoll that took up at her place a while back, and it turned out to be ill.
People don't often pay money for a specific breed of cat just to toss it out.

I have MIPS who is super smart, and at 13 years old, still runs around like crazy. We had another cat ages ago who we almost named RISC as a kitten when we didn't know him very well yet, and he turned out to be pretty dense. So that became his nickname in the end anyway.

Cats find the oddest things comfortable. I used to live with a cat that liked to sleep on the synthesizer control panel. Just a bunch of pointy knobs, but she would lounge there happily.

@formal notch cats pushing their heads against things can be a sign of poor nutrition - my old cat used to get fed cat mince and would do this a lot, but now that hes on biscuits hes gotten less lean and doesnt do the head press any more.
