@cinder wind But what happens if you need a virtual fire?
Still amazed at the costume quick-changes during the cabinet of mystery segment.
Yikes!
ahah this is a great demo for this kinda weird part. Now we can computer-control all the random thriftstore radios!

Sorry to keep bothering you guys about the neopixels for the Dark Saber, but I am confused; something isn't adding up for me in the learn guide. It says=Reel of NeoPixel LEDs
This project uses a two strips of NeoPixels. Remove the strip from the plastic reel. Count and measure each strip. Each strip is cut using scissors. The strips should contain 34 NeoPixel LEDs each. This makes each strip measure to 1.13 meters (44.5in) in length. Now the reel of Neopixels connected to the project page has (60) LED's per meter, so it doesn't configure to 34 LED's in (44.5in) it's more. Maybe you guys used different Neopixels other then the Adafruit Mini Skinny NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip - 60 LED/m

#askanengineerQ Would Lady Ada consider sharing business decision things like how Adafruit decides how much of a new board to produce on the first run, how to determine the price of a product based on cost and value, etc? Interested to learn business logic behind production choices.
Q? How do you deal with dithering or jittery sensor data? Like displaying temperature readings. I tried using a moving average but it doesn't filter out larger readings off of the average.
Non Recurring Engineering
Thank you so very much for this! So it's 1.5x the cost for wholesale, then 1.5x the wholesale cost for retail?
@rare mountain also maybe this series worth checking out?
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjF7R1fz_OOWJbMxQ3Pj4EKufAbbfO6RZ
There are two ways to price engineering input, NRE (once and normally up front) and amortized (spread that cost out over time on each individual piece)
I know I usually price for 50% margins on product so thereโs money to reinvest into more product
Thanks! That's where I started ^_^
It doesnโt always work out that way as you adjust pricing to determine price that maximizes demand
Like the Qt Py LiPo backpack sells really well at $5
If you can still answer more follow up. After the first 250 how do you determine how much for a second run? The speed at which the first 250 sold?
Thank you very very much!
Having common parts has been a huge help in the things I make/sell.
Who do makers with a product talk to to see if adafruit is interested in carrying a product?
For when that day comes ^_^
If I wanted to sell boards through Adafruit how would I do that?
I missed earlier discussion, but have been wondering how the RP2040 will displace/add to/ fit into the current environment of microcontrollers at Adafruit? Is it so good that some other boards/chips are no longer "useful" or relevent?
@rare mountain (did they answer already?) generally show and tell is the place to start
Thanks Tan. I'll look at the earlier broadcast.
Sounds good ^_^
@hot frigate I wasn't replying to you. I think time will tell for replacing stuff. likely the SAMD21 I'd say
Love you guys! You're amazing. Thanks again
rp2040's hardware should hopefully light a fire under anyone who wants to keep making microcontrollers ๐
Ah okay cool. Qt Py LiPo back pack has been a selling for a little bit but Iโm really excited about Rev B so Iโll reach out soon ๐
especially if the next rev comes with a fpu... though i'm incredibly impressed with the rp2040's action without a fpu!
https://www.oakdev.tech/store/p6/LiPo-Power-Pack.html#/ I showed this off on show and tell a while ago which actually helped a lot at launch ๐
We love the Adafruit Qt Py. It really is a cutie! And we love it so much we wanted to help you take the board and your projects on the go!
This little backpack not only brings LiPo Battery power to your Qt Py, but also battery charging so you can easily recharge your project.
Like ESP8266 did for WiFi, RP2040 will do for others. Pretty much definition of a "disruptor"
"You can't do that. Can't be done!".. until it can
The PIO's are HUGE. I can't wait to play with them. I wonder if the Pi foundation is going to make it somewhat of an integrated sister/daughter board, seemless.
"Everything's impossible until somebody does it." ~Batman
They're not to hard to get into either. I was showing off my project using them earlier tonight
i think the pio is going to single-handedly change what people expect from a low-cost uC. Seriously, I joke but i really think it is analogous to what pixel sharders were for graphics cards.
I have very fond memories of Propeller Assembly code. I think it's going to be similar.
@rustic oyster, I agree!
Great show tonight! Thanks @open girder and have a good night. ๐
She is amazing. I really appreciate the business plan incorporating paying people to develop libraries and give so much back to humankind and our future

@haughty quiver I am working a CircutPython community library to support additional wiimote accessories like the guitars hero and DJ hero extension controllers. I could use a tester on the DJ Hero one. https://github.com/jfurcean/CircuitPython_WiiChuck
Nice! @pallid sail I'll be happy to test that out.
For some reason I have three sets of the DJ hero controllers.
Does one really need a reason for having additional sets of DJ hero/Guitar hero controllers?
Excellent, the one I purchased second hand was pretty worse for wear. I had to replace the joystick and the clockwise direction on the table doesn't read properly.
For some reason....

I modified this DJ Hero controller to play the character of Lucio in Overwatch. @rocky reef -- Howdy ๐ During the heart milling video on AAE, y'all mentioned that you used a mini vacuum with a nozzle adapter to clean out the milling enclosure.
I've been looking for such a tool -- the closest I've found is a MetroVac [https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/599906-REG/METRO_DataVac_MDV_1BAC_DataVac_Pro_The_Next.html].
What make/model vacuum do you use for cramped quarters cleaning?
@waxen thistle hey hey, the vacuum is a dyson V8 with a flexible hose attachment and the "tiny tube" attachment. I found a similar one on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Attachment-Cleaner-Flexible-Cleaning-Keyboards/dp/B07C4G7D9M/ref

Hello from Colorafo.
@gusty wedge I think LadyAda is waiting for the mini modules with those chips.
@ornate coyote sweet rotary manual PnP... :-D Thank you !
Can the Pico do DotStar with the PIO?
Pico is fun except for the sd card library that you already know about
@brazen quail you're welcome ๐
@ornate coyote Ah yes, the s2-mini
I'm continue to think of new applications for the RP2040 !

Hello from a brisk South Dakota
That was in Raspberry Pi forum? That and the VS repo on "Raspbian"...
oh that reminds me. Can we get a TinyUF2 channel. I don't think there is a easy way for people to find stuff about it. But maybe nobody wants to know.
+1 for TinyUF2 channel
oh @simple fractal I believe you worked on the Lilygo build ?
I'd like to thank you for that, I learned about it and got one because of that ๐
Did you had a chance to play with Dazzle Gameduino x3?
i have a bunch of TinyUF2 builds for various boards, Olimex, Stetelthings, another lilygo board. Pretty trivial actually.
i have one of the gameduino here. still on the box
too many toys
wow, that was easy.
(and I use it to test my web libraries because the screen helps and the on-off button makes it clean to turn off when I don't need it)
Good afternoon Scott, Spook and everyone!
yes, and i like that the usb can be native or through the serial port
The one that take notes decide on the topic. ๐
I showed it to the free software-fpga people on twitter and they loved it. It's cool that those chips can be used by free software now.
stuck with nvm currently looking into uart
Hi Scott, audioland is a good place to be.
I tried looking at sleep on the nrf, can you explain the esp32s2 code and where the calls would differ? Also, where do the nrf specific libraries live?
(When I realized they where proprietary-software-only, I but them on a box under something...)
There is a game where one try to make a joke and see if Scott react.
i find it interesting that we chat back an forth on discord and youtube. at least we also arent talking on twitch
There is another game where you ask an interesting question and see if Scott jump into it.
HMU if you have any question. Audio is what I do all the time including my job.
how fast to build CPY?
@wind spoke the old make scott go on a tangent game.
i am impressed. Yes, QSTR takes forever
I can't chat in the youtube chat today, the window is too far on my second screen :p
I'm on a laptop, so hard to compare
I do that too, I'll say K instead of G.
crossfire maybe, crosshair is the cat version
hi @digital crescent you can take a look into PR #3850, #3830 & #3767 for that
no idea
I'm building in a VM, I think that doesn't help, and it does take for ever
i try not to look at PC parts as I easily get into upgrade mode
crossfire is how you run multiple AMD GPUs in one system
i do my builds in WSL2, so sort of a lightweight VM
How many GPIO pins does the mobo has? :รพ
All modern computers (since the OLPC laptop) should have GPIO pins, and analog in on the audio port ๐
Don't show us, make us listen to it.
Is there a place on that mother board that can run CP?
UDOO have a PC compatible x86 board w/Arduino lol
is the OLPC still doing stuff these days ? I developed software for researchers using a fleet of OLPCs ummmm 8 years ago
I basically got as far as copying the code from the esp32s2
then found an nrf_power lib
but didn't know how to use
nordic is great for low power stuff
I got to that sheet surprisingly, but didn't know how to implement. I have an nrf with an airlift connected to an eink featherwing.
ESP32 is Espressif ... NRF is impressif
Hi everyone, vacation starts now (which means i'll probably just be on here more cause where else can i go)
all good. I think I'm on the right track
Is eye tracking enabled?
Yes, I have a couple of stations listening in. (could not make it to s&t ๐ฆ )
Cosmic ray is my second name.
What're you using to listen? I've done some before via RTLSDR
They use LoRa, so it works with the smallest antenna possible (sometimes)
Yes, the 3 of them are in sleep mode right now because of low battery. At least they are not dead (yet)
@nova totem We are using this project called tiny-gs (ground station)
It works a cheap esp32+lora out of the box, and of course with adafruit hardware as well.
it's a little bit finicky
cool, did you use any special antenna?
wow. that is as super usefull app!
@nova totem Stock antenna, but I plan to build a couple of custom antennas for ~915 and ~433 to get more packets/day.
how does it add boards? does it work with kicad files as an input?
put the phone on an articulated arm and output the image to a big screen
Yeah, I would like to use some AR application, hopefully AR to show some archaeological petroglyphs that I want to show in real size.
Ah neat! Thank you!
Adafruit AR did identify mine with soldered pins and a reset button solder on top on the right
that's neat as heck
oh yeah, add new boards with PRs and stuff
Is that a 10pin swd connector?

wait do you mean the timer you're using to output PWM?
or a counter that's generating the duty cycles?
You could put a capacitor+resistor on the signal to smooth the PWM for the scope.
unless you're syncing to something else on that same timer, it won't affect DC offset or anything. the output PWM will be the same
ooh UPS ๐ just delivered
order ๐ #multitasking
Hi mystery guest.
typical boss... is it done?!?
uh oh you need a boss coming button ๐
don't cross the streams!
Good evening @proper trench
i have a pile (generic term for lots) of picos
great to see @proper trench ! welcome
Somebody needs a ryzen 9.
Why do you think they went with ARM and not RISCV? Lack of software? UK thing?
Hi Limor, @foggy shadow has the same RP2040 Zero sized so you both have one and wait for the chip?
the naming convention in the datasheet makes me think other cores are in the works
Will this end with the problem that some chips are not available for normal users? (e.g. we can't buy the raspberry pi 64 bit to build my own)
That is my hope, that the RasPi 5 will include the microcontroller as well, an all-in-one SBC/Microcontroller setup
by default I always blame Firefox, yet I always return to it sigh
It's going to do 2 things (at least). It's going to be a great teaching tool because of what the Raspberry Pi Foundation does and there will be a boat ton of boards for that form factor.
Also they started it 4 years ago!
Also the Cortex M0+ IP license is free from Arm.
Is everyone onboard with laser-etched chip coasters? ๐
That was a great video. (AU Linux)
wouldn't be surprised if the chip fab is the bottleneck
covid is doing a number on fabs
So RP2040 has enough pin to do two Feather. Feather seems to have so few pin nowdays. Would you do "dual Feather"?
@fervent iron We LOVE how you showcased Trinamic having Altium files for their multi axis closed loop motion control chip.
It does not run Linux. ๐
i just got that board in. and realized i dont know what parts go on it ๐
for some reason i assumed that the shcematic was on github
@rapid hornet - were discussing about two different RP2040's communicating via PIO?
woo @rapid hornet and @proper trench talking RP2040 .. what a treat for Saturday morning ๐
There is "fifo memory"...
ESP32 is great for audio since it has floating-point and the ESP_IDF supports Bluetooth audio.
Also faust is directly supported on the ESP32.
I'm going to try the neopixel thing if i get a chance this weekend
Oh man, I just got my home assistant hook up to adafruit.io
The boss is calling while you are streaming... what do you do?
@rapid hornet - were discussing about two different RP2040's communicating via PIO?
oh - same chip, thanks
The RP2040 has fifos for coms between it's internal cores
Hi all. Showing up very late. Were you showing your latest puzzle on the screen?
Hola Juan. We are looking at a decaps of the new pi chip.
And, if you live in Costa Rica, around June we might be doing a decapping workshop, probably with pi and esp chips.
You did not talk about it
Hola @gusty wedge, thanks!
Thanks for catching me up Scott, I'll need to scroll up and read the discussion.
Its under SIOfrommemory
That sounds like the Total Perspective Vortex from h2g2. ๐
Is that one cycle pre pipeline stage or one cycle for the whole pipeline?
that's pretty specific. is this a common peripheral in other microcontrollers?
3 is the magic number...
will there be anything new on the adafruit/CP pioasm front to support the all the features?
What plans do you have for the second core, other than the cool debug you talked about?
So is this version of your code up on GitHub?
I know that the electronic cats people tried programming it with a jtag and several other things, but ended up using the second core for that.
Would you say the docs are your favorite feature so far?
@gusty wedge I'm working on FreeRTOS for the pico and that will take advantage of both cores. I don't have a Pico yet but I'm working on the code now.
Thanks maybe Iโll take a look. Just put the headers on my pico too so I might try out the pwm and stuff!
biggest surprise i ran into from a hw-less dev cycle, is that my toolchain was leaking arm32 opcodes into the binary
only assembly - what about relocatable C code?
So user PIO code, or you mean something hard coded in circuitpython?
Ahh yes, that's what I was asking. Thanks.
someone has some rust stuff https://twitter.com/therealjpster/status/1353026324198285312
Thanks Scott. Have a great weekend.
Very cool stream, thanks Scott.
Thank you! That really really enjoyable!
BTW re PIO I am thinking 'opt' option on the sideset and pindirs
Thank much Scott. Where is that code you said you need some help with. I can take a look.
How are your YouTube stat doing? (and don't forget thumb up NOW)
Thanks!
waiting for a pico feather ๐
I did buy some silicone jumpers
Thanks Scott and all.
I'll need to rewind and watch what I missed.
Thanks.
๐
Great show, good listening while I work on review comments!
lol

kitty! ๐
i managed to get some esp32s2 arduino code to build under platformio
Thanks @rapid hornet have a great weekend ๐
thanks all!
so a fine stream
Thanks scott
hey folks, I'm streaming right now if anyone want to come hang out ๐
I'm building up some boards
fielding questions and whatnot
Oak Dev Tech or ODT is an electronics manufacturing and development company thank specializes in tiny form factor boards. We stream board development, testing, and assembly.
I will be streaming this morning working on some CircuitPython library PR reviews and development. If anyone is interested to watch along or hang out I'll be live on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/foamyguy_twitch and Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLYdzeOxG1U
Good Morning
Good morning foamyguy
Morning, looking forward to listening in and learning a thing or two
Quick FYI, your chat window is either a bit low (not seeing latest messages) or frozen
Yep, radial progress bar is a "down the road" thought
Thank you for the heads up on chat
@hugo are you changing the text direction also, or this progress bar does not include text?
The [object Object] is DEEEP in the Discord server bowels
I have a thought, we can chat later
It does not include text
I saw some issue on that so I was wondering
Sounds good. And it's still a WIP, so plenty of room to put in improvements
I'm taking notes too, so they can possibly be added to the library guide
thanks that is helpful to know
The "Moving from module to package" part
pip install certainly is the outlier, but with "blinka" getting more use, it will become less of an outlier
Yeah, I am working on a community library and there was a bunch of stuff in the setup.py that needed updating, including switching from a module to a package. I know there is a PR in the works to fix the cookie cutter for working with community libraries vs adafruit supported ones, but I am not sure where it is
Are you in your system environment or local virtual env?
pip seems to bypass apt-get and dpkg.
Github notifications might be a good place to see where you're tagged
Top-right of the screen, then the bell
I started a venv just for CP
sudo apt install python3-pip
This is acceptable. I'll do that much with sudo ;)
This suggested that:
https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-install-pip-on-debian-10/
Was that to avoid installing pip with python itself @fallow fractal?
@autumn turret It's simply to 'only install globally available packages using Debian tools'.
I am fine with compiling code as a single user and using it 'privately'.
Last time I ran into this was when Makecode first came out.
The online webbed version had an alternate you could install on your machine, to avoid using the webbed one.
Was too difficult to install without root password - leveraged pip3 iirc. (long time now).
So when I built my next system, I banned all use of pip out of superstition.
I'll use anything from an official Debian repository, no problem. ;)
should the individual files drop the 'adafruit_'?
so it just becomes progressbar.py and progressbar_base.py
did you do super.init()?
I saw something about that, and I also found that that's a Python2-ism
Sure thing! ๐
$ ls -la /usr/bin/pip3
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 303 Jan 20 201x /usr/bin/pip3
No sticky bit. ;)
Interesting, I will take a look, but I normally tend to initiate first the parent and then do the init for the class
Saw most of that. Kids had a few things, but much appreciated
Like do super.__init(...) then the local stuff?
meaning I will start with super()..
I have done the same
It might fail as-is, since some of the params to super have self. in them
Being an int is a separate issue. I didn't want to put TOO much in this one. When I started, the update was going to be "ALL THE THINGS!"
So it will be int, 0-100 by default. But can also customize the min & max. For example, a thermometer could go from -40 to +40 (or 130 for F)
Exactly!
or 0-9000 for RPM, etc
very good idea
Because the user/caller only cares about its value, not the percentage of its value within its range
Thanks @pallid sail ๐
Will do thanks for the library
you will need to change the font ๐
this is a bug
Was for analysis purposes
NEw
I will take a look, later
YEs
I added
I put it on friday i think
Yes it is new
I wanted also to try the background alignement also
Looks liek that was the paste history - Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+V
It is Hugo, thanks
Yes, in the original issue, there was also the comment to align the background box
That's the majority of JetBrains' IDE & IDE Tools business - quality of life and efficiency increases. Those things that people figure "It's be nice to be able to do x"
I like the Alt/Option+Enter for their quick-fixes
And their "Find usage"
it should be 120
I tried that, and you cannot use floats
for the scale
yes right
No, it does not, the names comes from the original test code in the issue, so kind of copy paste their code.
Dygliph is for the letters
Each letter is align with the (alignement line)
So for example if you try with the letter Pp they will be in the same line and there will be not descent
no, it is not intthe middle, tht is why dyplyh is used in the calculation, you can look at the proposed new Documentation to see the formula calculation
in github
Exactly
try dyglyph to False
yes it changed
take a closer look to the P and P
when you put dyglyph to false, all the glyphs will not take into account the descent value for calculation so p and P will be aligng to the (box alignment box)
put some pad into the background
or try background_tight= False
@smoky island the descend indeed comes down. but not with this font
@smoky island thanks for the stream.
Oh darn, I forgot about this until now. I need to test to see if your ascender/descender code fixed text aligning issues in my issue 103 in Adafruit_CircuitPython_Display_Text. Hopefully the stream will still be around on youtube afterwards. Glad to see that you're talking about baselines. good stuff!
It's co-educational! ๐
Hello endico, we are testing with your code ๐
Twitch only keeps VODs on demand for so long. I think affiliates get up to 60 days?
is there going to be a baseline property to do i need to compute it myself?
Otherwise, I want to say it was 21 or 30 days
Calculated automativcally
no need for calculations
@smoky island did you use the last code from the repo? I changed that for the background
indeed @smoky island
@ancient grotto I have two labels using different fonts and I want them to line up along the baseline. I want to place one label and set the baseline of the second label to be at the same height as the first label. Right? I think that's be best way to do it.
@upbeat matrix yes indeed
no need for calculations, just to set up a parameter, and it will be background compatible
Good I feel "tested" ๐
Maybe Endico could help with the name, they originated the issue
only for testing
No, not for using, it will be a rabbit hole to go there
no i'm not
ok will do and submit my PR
i missed the beginning of this but align_baseline seems to make sense
@upbeat matrix if you are interested the proposal is here https://github.com/jposada202020/Adafruit_CircuitPython_Display_Text
Yes I looked at that I put some examples in the PR for the background, I fix that behaviour
@smoky island one last thing, could you show the doc for people in the stream to comment?
Quick question before you segue to the next topic - should the blinka_displayio_pygamedisplay library work on macOS?
But after this dive
You are right
however, we have PCF and other font formats
Hugo I installed the blinka_displayio_pygamedisplay with the pygame thing python3 in linux, so I thing it would work
Optimize Font File Size was from a guide by noe and pedro
@smoky island there is I took the info from there
I can't find the font guide was thinking of, which is my main problem with adafruit docs. There are lots of great docs but sometimes re-finding them can be hard.
That would be helpful, I try to look for all the info already present in the guides, read the docs, sometimes it is difficult to know where the info is. if you have any suggestions please comment in the issue and I would added for sure.
Here's the guide I was thinking of. https://learn.adafruit.com/custom-fonts-for-pyportal-circuitpython-display/overview
Just had to go back to catch your answer on PyGameDisplay (had to step away). Thanks for that. I'm getting a hard crash when I try the demo, so I'll go along with the PyGame directions and see if that works
ZOMG YOU CALLED ME OUT ON THE INTERWEBZZZZ!!
Code shamed me and all ๐ญ
(kidding btw)
In seriousness, I appreciate the feedback and insight a tonne
Yep, Discord link is on screen
that is a dict object it seems
You could make a git alias for that
But git remote rename origin foamygui would work for rename
Delete and add? YIKES!
My pleasure! ๐
It doesn't help that git sub-commands and flags get mixed around all the time. This was git remote rename old new. Rename a branch? git branch -m old-branch new-branch
Another option is, when you clone a repo, using the GitHub CLI: gh repo fork [account]/[reponame] That will setup your fork as origin and the original (source) as upstream.
yes
is verifying that we have the right data types, we could check the other ones
yes in there
@smoky island could you post the code example to use the mouse for Touch responses for PygameDisplay? I would like to try it.
Also could you post the font that you use to break the code get_ascend_descend? I would like to make the issue and try it
Oh, try this @smoky island: git config --global --add clone.defaultRemoteName foamyguy
That way, "origin" is no more, and default is "foamyguy"
@smoky island I will thanks...
I'm writing up these git things we've found or set today in case anyone else needs it. Will share the link here for you when done
that will work too
Scripty typefce
Thank you very much for the stream!!!! i learn a lot as always
Thanks @smoky island, and have a good weekend!
Good stream, I learned quite a bit. Also kept me company while working.
You're welcome. Hope all of you have a good weekend as well!
Just popped back to catch the end. @smoky island I had fixed that git rename command last week in the chat. @autumn turret good catch.
Ah nice! Thank you both for teaching that to me.
Cool @pallid sail. I missed all but the last 15 minutes last week, but glad you had @smoky island's back covered! ๐
@smoky island btw I forgot thanks for the Hug Report. a Hug Report back to you, for your streams (y)
You're welcome. It's well deserved for sure! I really appreciate the PR reviews and all the other contributions you've made
Well.. I was the one that messed it up first ๐ง
Wrote some of what I'd mentioned on stream up, in case anyone else might find some value in it.
Moved link here: #help-with-git message
Thanks @fallow fractal. Was so one-track-minded to mention it from Foamy's stream, I completely spaced on the git channel!
;)
DESK OF LADYADA - Another Snowy Sunday - A revision-full weekend! https://youtu.be/78x0Tvbjfgc
This week we took a break from new designs and instead started working on some revisions: the Ultimate GPS module will be discontinued but we have found an alternative that is drop-in compatible so we had to do a lot of testing to verify the same software works. We also got some really odd NeoPixel dots that we spotted on social media, these are...
Good evening Mrs. and Mr Ladyada
Big shoutout for the great search! The LED search from a few weeks ago was super helpful! Seeing an led run beautifully with a 10k resistor was pretty sweet
Also curious how Adafruit handles FCC/CE regulations for all the various boards that would potentially fall under?
Oh, @lilac tusk , I forget - did you get a notification for your ESP32-C3?
Cool. Got an email from Espressif and text from DHL yesterday. Should be here Wednesday too!

I thought of using this for testing a UV lamp for resin printing. But, it won't go up to the UV range needed to test a UV lamp used in resin printing. That would be above 400nm wavelength.

hello
Where do we find those models?
That's neat.
Thank you for answering my question during the broadcast!
good morning all
It's a Pico Pico world...
Awesome Pandora Mug ๐! Thatโs the best land ever!
Lol. Cruelty printer. ๐
I think every 3d printer has a cruelty mode. But I think the firmware only enables cruelty mode when you really don't have time to figure out what is going wrong.
Within Cura, you can have a filament change not only based on layer but also overall height!
Under pause at height
Same principle as the Hurry Detector. All systems have a Hurry Detector; the more of a hurry you are in, the slower the system runs.
It's hip to be square. Keeps you grounded.
the square shape has helped me a few times
Round wire through a square hole.
Is that your angle, @waxen thistle ?
Ok, that's a really slick midi controller
So many awesome arcade buttons, you'll want to insert a coin before playing.
3D print your own lunchbox ๐
Hmm, 3d print actual spaghetti.
I've seen 3D printed Oreos that look eerily similar to the real deal.
Edible?
Well, that depends on one's determination.
I'm sure anyone with MD after their name would disagree.
Lol.
made 3d printed edible candy that is cool for sure
I'm sure I've seen 3D printed pancakes...
Any recommendations on painting PLA? Airbrush? Water-soluble paints? Oil-based paints?
or 3d printed hearts? @lavish patrol
You'd suggest sanding it first before painting to avoid layer line issues?
That is a pretty majestic blue.
@shell mason Heart shaped pancakes, perhaps?
Awesome, thanks ๐ ๐๏ธ
like a real heart
Yeah, Macs have True tone ๐
Be careful on Windows laptops - some of them use a lux sensor for auto-brightness and auto-contrast.
Auto-brightness can be disabled via Settings.
Auto-contrast needs a registry tweak to disable.
@lavish patrol I think back to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom -- the heart, being a 3D printed pancake instead of a "real" one ๐ซ
Thanks @rocky reef & @hard hollow see you tonight.
Thanks @hard hollow and @rocky reef for another awesome morning show! Always a treat ๐

Hi @paper peak any particular reason why there is no release of https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_BLE_LYWSD03MMC ? Something you are not happy about yet, or you are working on? I have 8 good reason to start using it. ๐
we didn't start selling them yet, but happy to make a release. Did you test it and you're happy with it?
I can connect to it, I sometime get a "None" but most of the time I get the temperature.
I will also eventually work on a library for the ATC opensource firmware that you can load on them.
Now I need to figure out how to connect to multiple.
But I believe the connection mode will be battery consuming, it would be best to decrypt the advertised message. I'll try the various option, but maybe I will use an ESP32 as gateway to Home Assistant.
I was not really planning to use CP to directly talk to it, I was surprise to see a library. ๐
getting the encryption key is a nuisance, but possible. The alternate firmware is nicer
I have 8 so I can fail a few time. ๐
