Sounds like a lot of work. And why not wash pajamas at the same time?

Put that on the webpage, regarding the UV detector. I saw it earlier, and immeidiately thought about disinfecting. Didn't read enough to say if you DID highlight it or not, though. Be good if it was there, though, if it's not.
Should livestream that selective solder 24/7. Visual ASMR
Hi @open girder, I would like to queue a question. The application Tennis Math is working on a physical "Tennis Score Board Display". The author used a Matrix Display 16x8, I am trying to help by searching for low power alternative. It need to be visible from a distance (in daylight mostly). What "technology" can be used for that. It mostly only require big 7 segments display.
That's seriously soothing.
I was thinking, I'd probably watch a 24/7 livestream channel of factory footage like this. Put it on in the background, so soothing.
Right? Pick & place is cool and all, but selective solder is soooo soothing
Giant Honking LCD segments?
Might something like the Matrix Portal with the 64x32 LED work out?
Giant Honking low-res e-paper?
The Disney Snow Pit...
@autumn turret power requirements.
Oh, right. Hrmmmm
Nice sunset. Did you catch the Great Conjunction of Jupiter & Saturn?
@open girder if they do put the gold in there, and you don't tunnel in and take the gold, I'll be really disappointed in you.
I wonder what the odds are of a time-lapse of the entire Disney build once it's completed
Don't give them any ideas; they'll turn it into an amusement park
@viral sail I saw two things: Diddly and Squat.
Come pretend to be Uncle Scrooge swimming through a vault of coins. Only 20$/minute!
@urban gale You know what would be awesome? Hook up a bungee setup so you can do your Disney Villain Death by falling off a ledge, AT the Disney Tower!
Or a sarlacc pit π
I am looking for something low power. Like gigantic eInc, or Mecanical like old clock or anything that do not consume too much.
@urban gale That should be in the center, and there should be a spiral slide down into it.
I think there are custom eInk like the screen we used to have in "Game and Watch".
That's how they get rid of executives.
So many BlitzCityDIY projects on this recap π
And just like the Sarlacc, you don't die.
They put you on life support and hold all your voting proxies.
@lavish patrol did you have clouds? They're still close this week. Look about 45 minutes after sunset.
Soylent Green is Former Cast Members!
@wind spoke I'm thinking maybe 4 separate displays, so you're only updating 1 most of the time, and 2 occasionally. Like a repurposed Kindle or similar eInk display
Yeah, I looked, but I thin they were too low in the sky, so behind buildings. I could have walked down the street to get a better view but it was too cold.
Yes, I was thinking about multiple eInk, like a farm of MagTag...
A possible cheap and dirty way, if there's a way to remote control it, would be an eInk ebook reader, with a page per possible score, and trigger page changes (next, previous, goto page) remotely
Some of the abandoned Kindle Fire readers.
I found those giant Gas Station screen... they seems to exist in eInk too.
That sounds slick
Hmm. Peanut Butter & Jelly. That's almost as good as donuts filled with cannoli cream. Which are called "Donnoli".
or custard
Texas Instruments' TPS63900 75 nA IQ buck-boost converter is suitable for applications such as smart meters and sensor nodes.
The phone application already exist (since 11 years or so). There is a prototype screen with a 16x8 matrix. I search something that can be aquired, build, not reuse of old Kindle.
From how far should it be legible @wind spoke ?
a Tennis court far?
Can someone share the TI link (if itβs handy)
TI my former employer...they make good power products for sure!
Tennis court far, so probably 1 foot/30cm wide by 2 feet/60cm tall per digit?
This sounds like a great device for v2 of the magtag
Had to look because I use two TI buck converters in two designs
17uA Iq for the 5V buck and 22uA Iq for the 3.3V nice
@lavish patrolyeah they are very low on the horizon. We had to travel a bit to a suitable site. A local bird sanctuary invited us down, it wasn't supposed to be clear, but we got lucky. https://twitter.com/SkyscraperJim/status/1341219909221675013/photo/2

One time being tilted is a good thing π
Totally, and making it happen!
I'm loving the angled headers, that's exactly what I was looking for π
@waxen thistle Are you angling for a freebie? π
This product make you want to have a Pi400 !!!

I was lucky enough to get a 400 early on (nit from Adafruit sadly). It is fun
also that is so cool way and I also show some cool way to use rasberry pi 4 recenly so why not with pi 400
I keep wondering if I can't use all the old IDE cables I have around for RaspPi connectors.
I mean, of course not the ones that have the one pin keyed out.
Does it have the camera header? I need a web cam fir my boring meetings next week
Orchard Skills have put video where they put windows 10 on arm to raspberry pi 4 running the emulated version but could be cool in rasberry pi 400 with all the cyber things in it
Pi 400 dilema for me is the keyboard choice. I can switch between Querty and Azerty. Programming can be Querty, but if I want to share with my kids, then writing in French is important.
Azerty physical for the kids, and use Qwerty layout for programming and use muscle memory?
Or maybe external keyboard (defeats the point of the 400 tho) for the alternate layout

Turing Pi is a 7 node Raspberry Pi cluster in mini ITX form factor. Run and learn Kubernetes, Dockers, Serverless locally or at the edge.
If I get it working, I'll let people know.
Iβve been building a raspberry pi 4 8gb x8 cluster. Since the Turing pi 2 and CM4 wasnβt available in late November.
I also plan to build a ceph cluster once the m.2 carrier boards fir CM4 are available. For my use case I only need eMMC, Ethernet, PoE header, PoE HAT and m.2 pcie connector for an NVME. Not sure what 8x of those with say 8x 1TB m.2 NVME might be capable of. But Jeff Geerling clocked m.2 at 500 Mb/s...
@autumn turret I have access to that builds as well but need to get those pi400 ones

Another long weekend meant we had lots of time to design a bunch of PCBs to kick off the new year. @haughty quiver Thank you!
You bet -- go get some Wiichuck adapters and show us what you make with them!
@haughty quiver It's all part of a growing weird DIY synth thing. I got several of the littlebits guitar kits on sale, a littlebits envelope and filter, and a completely unreasonable pile of Adafruit and Hackerbox components.
Muhuahahaha!
I think it's ultimately going to go into either a https://www.adafruit.com/product/4795 with a Cyberdeck header, or maybe a wearable MIDI controller rig with a couple of nunchucks and a CLUE board.
Though, actually, I think my forearm is long enough to hold a NeoTrellis, so it might just end up being a wearable groovebox.
Like the holographic interface from Final Fantasy Spirits Within: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Wrist_Halo?file=TSWScreenshot4.jpg
With a nunchuck in hand, and a NeoTrellis inner forearm mounted like an astronaut control panel.

3d print if you have chance
Hey all! My first time joining the 3D livechat... Just wanted to say "Hey!" and tell y'all how much I enjoy your videos and projects... π π€
Always a great notion to try and 3D print anything you can first.
next way is 3 way
Have you guys used one of the new infinite-Z printers? (e.g. the Creality CR-30 or Fabbaloo)
nice way to build buttons

You guys have a CR-10 series Printer I believe. you like it? In the market for another printer and looking for suggestions....

Wish I had the space for that...lol
This is the key to a good project...

I was inspired to check out the new products on DigiKey this morning thanks to remembering Ask An Engineer was tonight
I got an idea for a project this weekend
Only one? @lilac tusk
Itβll be a little bit to do the board and driver code hehe
I donβt want to spill too much just in case itβs the same one Ladyada picked
I gotta go back and rewatch @dusky bolt and oauth I got distracted.
I hope I picked the correct Brent
Oh I need to watch that search, my crimping skills will ruin 50% of them but so useful to be able to quickly make cables
I just bought a new crimper. Not the official one I used to use at $oldjob. Iβll report back if itβs ok.
I miss being able to go get components at a local Radio Shack. But I can't see that returning.
I'm not at my main workspace currently, and I had a need for a 100 ohm resistor to urgently fix a NAS. It was the first time in a while I felt:
"gosh. I miss Radio Shack. I could've just went in person to get the part. Now I have to wait a week for the postal service."
well it could in different form
RadioShack got annoying when you just wanted to buy some discreets and they wanted to sell you a cell phone. Or worse, spent 30 minutes with the cell phone customer and ignored you.
Never ignore a customer. Never.
I thought it was just my local Radio Shack that got annoying with the cell phone thing. It got really bad. Apparently it was other Radio Shacks as well.
It was all of them
The ham folks that used to work there got pushed out.
Anyway. Good memories and I wish them well.
Once I was accosted with the cellular pitch as soon as I entered --- I was in a hurry, and not having any of that. I held up my phone and said "sorry, already have one. here for circuit board components."
Them: "....you want to buy a second phone?" sigh.
Would you like some toast?
I'll be thrilled to see them back, doing things differently.
Wish the magtag on a maytag worked by flipping it over!
I would love to see them back, with a focus on makers, 3d printers, and other related hobbies such as RC cars
and robotics
Yeeep

Anyone else hear/imagine "Spayed connectors" when someone says "spade connectors"? Or is that just me?
Potter and Brumfield represented the best of high-quality relays BITD. Glad to see TE use the name.
Just you @autumn turret
Figured that was probably the case @tame dew

Just in case Iβll re-ask
@open girder recommended headers for stacking multiple mini latching relay feather wings? The relay is taller than normal stacking headers. But maybe itβs ok?
I would say feather wing doubler/tripler rather than stacking
@open girder: what inspired or rather applications do you envision for that reverse mountable neopixel?
@upper sandal I will be trying it with the max number of gpio pins I can. Aka 10 relays?
I have a mech-keyboard thing with those LEDs - backlighting the keys
ah that's a lot
Yup
@open girder what I wasn't sure of when you wrote about those boards on the blog, is if you will make them with the current mini module or are waiting for a mini module with psram ?
@spiral vale Thanks. That makes sense!
I showed the keyboard in show and tell earlier if you want to see
there's this huge "badgelife" scene doing crazy pcbs and stuff - they use reverse mount leds regularly

Can you tell @proper trench to release more hardware?
More hardware, more inspiration, please.
Can you tell Limor not to make it so easy for me to make electronics stuff? I really like having a hard time and releasing the magic blue smoke from stuff!

That's the one!
Thanks JP!
great show, now I need to check my storage shed to see if I have an old Guitar Hero guitar in there....
I bet you're planning something involving monome ii now @spiral vale ...
Nice job John! This has been on my to do for years!
@spiral vale thanks yes
Are circuit python libs available to do this?
@grand hull from the product page: "The Wii controllers use a standard I2C interface, and there's existing code for both Arduino and CircuitPython/Python for quick integration with an Arduino UNO, Feather, or even a Raspberry Pi. "
@grand hull Yes, CircuitPython libs work with the Nunchuck only at this time, but hoping we may talk someone in the CircuitPython community into adding the other accessories...

Hello scott
Good afternoon!
Hi all
First one of the new year
USB switch PCB π
π
Hey
@rapid hornet I am now the proud owner of three sets of Silicon Jumper Cables because of your streams lol π
lol
i only wish it was a bit easier/faster to get Adafruit in canada. Digikey usually only has the older stuff and mail from NY seems to take weeks.
Singapore here @simple fractal so its normally DigiKey or Mouser (free shipping) and then Adafruit directly for the latest products (DHL)
DHL slow for you too? I can get a package from Adafruit in 2-3 days usually
Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits : Hacker Spaces/Distributors Map - Tools Gift Certificates Arduino Cables Sensors LEDs Books Breakout Boards Power EL Wire/Tape/Panel Components & Parts LCDs & Displays Wearables Prototyping Raspberry Pi Wireless Young Engineers 3D printing NeoPixels Kits & Projects Robotics & CNC Access...
i usually get it by mail. DHL from adafruit is a bit pricey.
True depends how much I buy... sometimes it is a rounding error to go DHL from USPS by the time I'm done π
unfortunately the distributors seem well behind the curve for new products/
Speaking of PPKII - I have not successfully used it to read the power draw on my nRF52840 express, it doesn't appear to power the board. Is there a trick besides "Enable power output"?
I just got a package from poland via dhl, $15.00 usd, seemed reasonable
@idle parcel DigiKey have been getting stock on new products faster (recently)
i will keep checking. thanks @wispy linden
@simple fractal unfortunate indeed :\
woooo ( toggles to Github sponsorship )
lol, i met some puppies today. in the snow. rather fun
@rapid hornet you have a new Cat sponsor lol π
Good afternoon all you wonderful folks!
"real-time" (depending on how you define it) creates challenging constraints
Language development indeed is hard. Know several mathematicians that work in that field, and I can barely understand them, haha.
More in depth question (feel free to skip it) what is a QSTR? I've got a vague idea and see them everyone in the core code but haven't had a chance to dive into them yet
when i wondered the same i found this https://docs.micropython.org/en/latest/develop/qstr.html
Thanks @simple fractal I thought it was like that but wasn't quite sure how it worked
Thanks for the answer, trying not to leak (or waste) memory as I work in the core too π
Do you compile rust with the "oxidize" command?
rustc?
Shucks, a missed opportunity π
i think i did one program. Would love to have a full embedded ecosystem based on rust. might avoid all my memory allocation errors
jan. 2020 :sigh: ...
I still need to write my '21.. I've enjoyed writing them so far!
I would love to be able to have an embedded ecosystem based on rust similar to what Circuit Python is. Seems like the language tooling isn't quite ready for prime time yet. But I only know a bit about rust and where it is right now in terms of development.
What was the biggest challenge you had being a "digital nomad"?
Once again I missed the beginning... silly me. Hi all, happy 2021.
Happy December 39th, 2020 @wind spoke π
I forget if you had already answered this in past streams. But how does CP versioning workk? At what point does work on 6.x just become 7.0?
hi @wind spoke
the jump to 3.0 adding SAMD51 was great, long live suddenly running into memoryerrors while writing in code.py π
It did, thanks.
just did an adafruit order. including silicone jumper wires. DHL shipping this time π
silicone wires are so nice. As is DHL if you ignore the cost π
well it was not much more than mail.
haha @simple fractal thats awesome π
and i kept adding items to my cart. lol
I think scott should get a commission for all orders during his stream. only needs some sort of tracking code
Not just that, @simple fractal I also bought the Sony ZV-1 because of @rapid hornet 's product showcasing whooooosh focus demonstrations
Would you/Adafruit ever consider making CircuitPython an organization on github rather than an Adafruit subproject? Might make it psychologically easier for other orgs to contribute to CircuitPy
agree, totally deserves all the credit
Folks are complaining about Adafruit's name on everything? Well....maybe it's because they make a lot of good things....
Is neopixel not an Adafruit term? I somehow thought it was, but that library does not have an adafruit prefix.
meta-question: why are some of us showing up as "[object Object]" in your chat window?
we are all derived from Object
Because this is an object-oriented show? π
Its because of the Adafruit name being on Arduino libraries that I first really became aware of them. I have no problem with their name being on things they have supported and given to the community.
the generic name attached to NeoPixel is the WS 28 series of addressable LEDs
Trade Secrets really protect the how π
17?
18 in march
hahaha nostalgia for 2 years ago
Lots of the code in learn comes from the examples folders in the library repos as well.
?serverinfo
ETA for 27k is roughly March 1st π
rounds up for the preview
One year ago, I went over all the release blog post to prepare my Fosdem 2020 presentation. Some of those slide are just v1.0. v2.0 v3.0 v4.0 and upcoming v5.0: https://archive.fosdem.org/2020/schedule/event/iotcircuitpython/attachments/slides/4106/export/events/attachments/iotcircuitpython/slides/4106/Slides.pdf
A lot of my wish are hardware, like USB Host and Video output. So what should I write... explain project that use that?
@rapid hornet dumb question, but is there a pip equivalent for Cpy? or, can the Mu editor auto-load required packages into lib ?
Copy/pasting from the downloaded bundle seems awkward
circup is similar to pip
circup looks good π
I wrote this tool because I couldn't find something to solve the getting libraries on CircuitPy boards https://github.com/todbot/cirpycp
Shoutout hug to askpatrickw for doing lots of work on circup lately!
I made a little update.py that does a very small circup to update library based on a new bundle (so only update): https://gist.github.com/dglaude/f5f3423288861bc44fe758212dbaac61#file-update-py
@rapid hornet Puck.js (also in the adafruit store) has a really good BLE workflow and web-based editor
@rapid hornet BLE workflow would be great for beacons and sensors
Did the Twitch stream go down for anyone else?
Example the cheap Xiaomi sensors are programmable/hackable over BLE https://github.com/atc1441/ATC_MiThermometer
Might be me. Apologies.
Twitch is up for me
It was for me, I switched to YouTube.
Yeah, it all came back quickly. I think it was a rural PA internet hiccup.
Internet is unstable, I think I'll drop off. I'll catch up with the VoD.
Thanks again Scott for doing this, it's extremely valuable to look back on the past to see where to go in the future.
Can I SSH into my FeatherS2?
Sparkfun Artemis looked so promising but the software (Arduino) never fully materialised. Really makes you appreciate the work which goes into @open girder products.
where is Micropython at with the S2 ?
i'm guessing the s3 will be easier. being dual core?
CircuitPython on your TV! Yeah I want CircuitPython Roku app
You can with my PyGame displayio driver! π
Would be great to see Cpy for Google coral
i just got a feather board with that chip i think
This is my test code for all the Alarm: https://gist.github.com/dglaude/3659888feb34321162939bb62ecbf0c3
But if failed on Pin.
Failed on beta3.
This one https://www.reclaimerlabs.com/stm32wb-feather has the STM32WBCGU6
Maybe you want the buyer guide to be more easy to find...
i got it in the mail yesterday. Still in the package
Learn Guides should be dispayed as hyberbolic tree based on your personal tag cloud. hahhaah
So many boards and so little time
i also received the olimex esp32-s2 lipo board. same as the saola except some interesting usb-otg circuitry and lipo support
yes i just started to do some stuff i left off in early december. no idea how i did anything. maybe i should document stuff
the board will actually supply 5v to the usb device (allowing host mode) conditionally.
when I google modules and function names on circuitpython I land on the v2.0 readthedocs and the version menu to jump to latest does not work (I know how to manually change but) π
olimex even has a USB vendor id!! , maybe an easy circuitpython port.
so far all we get are cat guests. And they are rather indifferent to our comments
+1 for double-deep-dive haha
so strange when overlay say all as object Object
another vote for "standard locations"r π
I object object !
speaking of home automation - CP examples that interact with "smart speakers"
now i am frantically googling ble boot lol
That Adabox beeing too easy to guess is a problem!
How to make it a surprise?
Hopefully, I cannot get the Adabox because I am in Belgium.
the not shipping to europe is a bigger one for me π
( or Singapore ) lol
Not is about TAX estimation.
ADABOX 16 had ~30 in stock last week, but they were gone within hours
This was a great stream. Thanks for taking us through all of these yearly posts!
Thanks @rapid hornet π
Thanks for the stream, very informative
it was fun! thanks @rapid hornet
Oh I thought Adabox was about a stellar performance from John Park, and you get a free box at the side π
Thanks @rapid hornet and Adafruit for all the CircuitPython. It's amazing to see how far it's come in such a short time
thank you @rapid hornet - I'll catch up on what I missed via the youtube recording!
thanks, good catchup scott.
Thanks Scott. Have a good weekend.
thanks!
thanks all!
haha thanks!

Ready for your show @haughty quiver ? Here are two comments I have written on the YouTube chat.
- The MCP2221A is a great board to access StemmaQT sensor from your PC/MAC/Linux and give GPIO that you can directly control from Python with Blinka. Your code will run on your computer.
- It would be very interesting to compare that with QT-Py. It is similar size, same StemmaQT connector, but the QT-Py has a brain (SAMD21), work on it's own. Your code run on the QT-Py not your PC/Mac.
It's a topic I find very interesting as to where your Python code is running, on your host computer or on the little board attached.
@wind spoke #2 is interesting.
hello!
let's try to keep it that way!
Voice audio is low; peaking at -20db -ish.
Out of sync on YT
bad audio...
Hey JP!
Is Youtube unhappy for anyone else today? Locking up, looping the same 10-15 seconds on refresh?
uhoh stream died on twitch & youtube
Yes. YT is acting up today.
yes, I thought it was just me because of other programs running on my computer
I am on twitch now...
Its streaming for me on YT again, but audio is. But that is better than no feed
audio is off I meant
YT is working now except audio is out of sync.
Displayio ? Why PIL and not Displayio ? (serious question)
The battery is a lie?
Thanks @haughty quiver
Good info, thanks for covering the product
Thanks! Have a good one!
Thanks @haughty quiver. The show goes on, despite YouTube's best (worst?) efforts
Thanks! Thinking of a couple of projects for that breakout board...
I think I need to stock up on a few of those
Yes, so sorry about the sync only on Tuesdays -- I made some changes to Wirecast that weren't effective, will try from scratch for next week! -JP
Even at full price it's a crazy good deal for what can be done
it had that sync issues
One use of such board is for "Adventures in Minecraft" kind of book from David Whale, Martin O'Hanlon. It explain how to control electronics from within Minecraft. That works for Raspberry Pi build/in limited version of Minecraft, but if you want to play the big "normal" java Minecraft on PC, you need GPIO and the same API as on the Pi. This is where a neat trick come in. (1) You cannot really modify the client to have that hardware API, but it is easy to modify the server code so they hock in into the server code to add the same API as on the Raspberry Pi (2) You need GPIO, and this is where they use a trick, and I believe it is a serial protocol over USB and an add-on to your PC/MAC that talk that protocol where you can say UP/DOWN for a GPIO.
So you write Python code, connecting to a hock in the server (that is a TCP connection) and connecting in serial over USB to control the hardware (all of that is transparent.
Here, with Blinka, you could do normal Circuit Python call for that second part.

thanks so much for hanging out folks!
thanks guys!
Good evening all you wonderful folks, androids, and non-corporeal technological consciousnesses!
hello friends

Howdie do kids!
Hmm. Peaches. π
ngl - there are a lack of resources regarding freeRTOS ports which show it being used with arduino IDE
excited to see more resources like this!
Ah, temporal waves. Happens when the Tardis materialized within this gravity well. No worries everyone, carry on.
Heavy cream or 1%. Nothing in the middle.
RTOS always seems scary but it isn't that difficult to get into (though been a while for me, gotta check this out)
RTOS is great
What is superloop?
Everything contained in a single loop()
Azure RTOS is one option
Superloop is what you normally do in Arduino or Circuit Python: setup() and loop() or main () { while(true) { //do stuff}} is the basic "superloop" architecture
JP in the house, cool project!
Super Loop when you get 8 chaos emeralds with Musk -- Hyper Loop is what happens when you get 8 more. Can't forget to get 50 rings and double jump. π
Hello
Hmm, Azure Architect just saw an Azure thing he didnβt know about, hehe.
@lofty mist Are you going to show using FreeRTOS with existing libraries (arduino)?
@gaunt plume totally agree! There are some videos and classes out there, but I wasn't super happy with the resources out there to "learn RTOS"
not sure if this is "Arduino_FreeRTOS"
@gaunt plume Yes, I'm working on using the built-in FreeRTOS with the ESP32. It's a modified version unique to the ESP32 called "ESP-IF." I try to show where it differs from vanilla FreeRTOS
ESD justice!
I'm using Arduino because it 1) works out of the box with FreeRTOS and 2) many people are familiar with it (and I don't have to teach a vendor tool or something else on top of RTOS concepts)
Yes, it's great. Keep at it π
CircuitPython? This is the way.
This is the way.
Iβm too busy with my day job for c++ so I agree.
Hello all π
This is the way.
yay e-ink!
that's really neat @gaunt plume
IFTTT has gone to a premium model -- costs $ after (I think) three routines.
Great job wrangling in the Google APIs with CP @gaunt plume
So, the more we can move away from it, the better.
Yeah, I was sad to see IFTTT go to nearly all premium π¦
thanks!
@mellow thunder I suggest magtag, it's less distracting and I kept it on my desk all day to glance at it
That's where the moo sound came from! Fantastic π
Yes please on more DMA! It helps a ton with audio stuff
thanks @split gazelle and @autumn turret
@ brentru I agree... don't wait to give up my bitcoin ticker on my portal..lol
this week? absolutely not π
holy moley @steep pilot that is amazing
wowowowow so pretty
this is so beautiful
Noe & Pedro are building a lightsaber. Erin is growing kyber crystals. The force is with everyone this week.
That's a really cool fixture
Oh come on Erin, unreal so very Awesome!!!
So pretty @steep pilot !
That's nice.
I love how that keyboard looks
let's bring back SeaQuest
some code to get you started with i2sout on esp32s2: https://gist.github.com/jepler/7cff5b1ec6e6b1ccf9548282d7979ec8
thanks you guys!
yeah oskitone! Nice work @split gazelle I can't wait until mine is done!
Bring back SeaQuest DSV? Aye, Captain Bridger.
thanks @deep scarab ! can't wait to see your build
Ah SeaQuest! love that show..lol
and this is oskitone's (tommy's) blog post about the project if folks are interested: https://blog.tommy.sh/posts/poly555-synth/
@split gazelle are all the case parts 3d printed?
yes with the exception of the plexiglass window
Keys also?
yes indeed
A lot of people don't know that real acoustic pianos actually also have a 555 oscillator on every key.
Sweet!
He's selling kits both with and without the 3D printed parts - I had to buy them because they were a little too big for my printer bed. π¦
I thought those accoustic pianos had 440 oscilators?
@split gazelle We all want to be..... part of that world... π΅
Congrats @nova totem !!!
Concrats!
awesome, congrats @nova totem !
Congratulations @nova totem !
yay congrats Mark!
it's a really magical feeling
Print means someone spent money to share it with the world, it's a pretty big deal!
link to watchy dev kit if anyone's interested π (no affiliation) https://www.tindie.com/products/sqfmi/watchy/
Yay cat and doggo!
Thanks @split gazelle @autumn turret @deep scarab @lofty mist @hasty chasm Everyone here encouraged me
super sweet @hasty chasm
Great work everyone. Thanks for sharing.
great projects everyone!
Thanks everyone for sharing -- you're such a welcome distraction from all the issues we're facing in the world.
Thanks all! Great work everyone!

just realized that the crystal light fixture somehow fits both "seapunk" and "spelunkpunk" aesthetics. blitzcitydiy @steep pilot is a trendsetter
that was @steep pilot actually π§ββοΈ
oh whoops - thanks π€¦ββοΈ
Who also happens to be a 2021 princess with power tools!
@split gazelle is also a trendsetter. π
@steep pilot That was beautiful! Do you have a link to a writeup?
