I tried the ios-switch-control-using-ble learning guide from above, but was not able to add another button and commands like Volume Up/Down etc.
Okay, I found out how to solve the problem: https://github.com/cbmainz/Airfoil_Remote
Oh good, is is working now?
Yes, it works. But only with 3 Buttons.
@haughty quiver is the synth code available for the neotrellis synth. Maybe a guide?
The one using the DSP-G1 chip? @sterile forge
Or this Trellis M4 one? https://learn.adafruit.com/synthesizer-design-tool

@kind thicket Is it concrete?
Oops. Should have read the text. 😉
It's not so much a 3D printed bridge as a bridge built from 3D printed parts.
Good morning all you wonderful people — watching on mobile, hope y’all are doing great.
good morning !
Very cool snaek peek

New new new new...
@haughty quiver Will that bot work on Mars? I believe there's an opening...
@haughty quiver Nice. I was bummed when I had to use C++ when I did my BLE bots.
Would love to share the ATIA stuff (including the Magic Wheelchair) but I'm traveling
Haha good point @lavish patrol
I need to verify that CircuitScheme runs on the nRF52840 Feather.
@lavish patrol You could even say there's an Opportunity
Curiosity made me do it...
I so rarely remember to accessorize my ankles.
Ank-cessorize
@severe vigil yup, someone will drop after they show their project
i just dropped
kk 😅
"last week, or 2 weeks ago"... still in the Eagle fog. 😄
Lol.
hrm...
OH, @open girder - A friend uses this program to add live captions on their streams for hard of hearing folk, and I think it'd be great to add if you can: https://webcaptioner.com/
@clear matrix is so inspirational! She can do anything!
no luck
mmm. Datasheet. so yummy.
How's the speed on that interace?
Yay @clear matrix !
Scott talks, and yet, his lips...they don;t,,,move
@rapid hornet just wants to put Circuit Python in everything. We'll eventually see that Scott got an implant - And it runs CP.
waiting for another drop oops! bad wifi at school, just plugged into ethernet
@river peak totall!
@sage aspen is very driven
Yikes!
call is full
@sage aspen You didn't fully drop. 😕
And @lethal lagoon is a-head of the game.
Yay! The helmet.
Looks so good @lethal lagoon
@sage aspen I'll drop
@sage aspen hmm... yah, says you are still in there, give it a sec, we'll get ya back in
@lethal lagoon Beautiful job!
I'm back
yeah! looks great
@lethal lagoon Does it fog up after you're wearing it for a while?
@lethal lagoon i'm thinking some glow powder into the outside blue-y gray portion with a clear coat would be cool too -- not saying that isn't a super fab helmet already!
@lethal lagoon So we'll be seeing you in The Expanse next season? 😉
+10 points for the 2001 reference @lethal lagoon
@sage aspen So it's port-able?
thanks all! i left the air vent holes open and clear so it doesnt fog too much
great idea @simple goblet !
Yep @river peak , very "Port"-able
thanks @odd stream !
@lethal lagoon are you planning the rest of the space suit now?
@lethal lagoon There are some quiet miniature fans available that could help when humidity levels rise...
@river peak yes i am hoping to get a suit done for ECCC
@inner spade oh yeah love that idea
ECCC?
@lethal lagoon You're going to Emerald City Comic Con? I have a friend that usually vends there!
@eager sapphire Emerald City Comic Con
Thanks @lethal lagoon
@river peak oh sweet! let me know who and how to find them!
@lethal lagoon https://twitter.com/Abby_Starling
@lavish patrol love the expanse, my helmet is totally Expanse inspired 😃
@lethal lagoon I've booked my place in The Belt in case everything goes pear shaped down here...
@severe vigil This is highly relevant to my interests.
@severe vigil 👍
thank you
@river peak I think I know what you’re thinking
glad to help
@split gazelle you know exactly what I'm thinking
@river peak will check out that caption service
@sage aspen that car is looking awesome
My fave is Bohemian Rhapsody.
Thanks John. I saw your rover and that inspired me to jump on Show and Tell
@river peak what are you thinking ?
Thanks @open girder
@severe vigil I've got a digital color communication badge. Currently it runs Arduino, but it'd be SUPER great to be able to make a CP one
thanks for sharing everyone! 👏
Thanks everyone
Great projects everyone!

@severe vigil for sure! it's my Netflix go-to while I'm working in my studio. I rewatched almost all of TOS and first season of TNG while building my helmet
@lethal lagoon What do you think of Discovery?
@river peak that sounds really cool, if you want a gui couch cough i'll have it ported to dispio soon
@lavish patrol i loooooove Michelle Yeoh and like the costumes a lot. Have only gotten a few episodes in so far but I likey

if you want
kk
It'll be cool when you get it done, though!
it's still good to add, i have never used them so totally neglected them
so cool @clear matrix! love seeing this process!
@lethal lagoon 😊 Thanks!!
Hello LadyAda!!! Minty Boost FTW!!!
@lethal lagoon It is kind of surreal still 😄
@clear matrix Nice job leveling up your skillset!
@odd stream Thank you!!
Those beats
Good job @clear matrix, the board does look really good.
Collin's fat beats!
@sage aspen Thanks! 😃
@clear matrix 👍
@lavish patrol 😃
@haughty quiver Those beats really made me want to see that bot bounce along. 😆
Bouncing bot
Lol.
need hydraulics installed and switches to flip
@haughty quiver Exactly.
@haughty quiver awesome to hear you on the Cool Tools podcast! Fun to listen to and thanks for sharing all that great info 😃
thanks @lethal lagoon !
@haughty quiver dude i am trying to pretend you’re doing that LIVE....
@haughty quiver I absolutely want to make something with toggle switches.
Really cool you’re sharing the green screen technique, JP
you bet!
Open source video production
Yep.
Next video should be on how to borrow JP for your next presentation
Lol.
Oh, also, @haughty quiver - Did you see the captioning program I linked to earlier?
I'd like to point out that Mr. Ladyada figured out how to force the MakeCode background green with a javascript hack, and then the MakeCode team liked it so much the made a real feature for it.
@river peak no, I missed that, lemme search.
wow love that!
Would be neat to see live automated captions on streams. Good for hard of hearing folks. @pearl shoal would probably also benefit from it.
Well that's pretty cool. @haughty quiver
Adafruit is on Mythbusters? Awesome! @lethal lagoon did you have a hand in that?
Where's that store????
@river peak Nope! That is just the amazing awesomeness of @open girder!
pal like the programable logic arrays? 😉
bird synth is rad
Bird Synth is awesome
That is a talented bird
A birb of sound mind.
Lol. "Even my budgie is writing code."
@river peak the Web Captioner looks interesting, I'll give it a test run.
TRON!
@haughty quiver Awesome! I'm always trying to see how things can be made more accessible and that seems like an easy one
It would be nice if YouTube had a way to accomodate this realtime caption data as a secondary overlay datastream that could be turned on or off @river peak
@haughty quiver That would be amazing
It would be nice if YouTube could do a lot of things...

Closed captions refer to the visual display of the audio in a program. In order to add captions to your live event, you need to send captions to YouTube either embedded in the video or through support

Q: is that the issue with arduino and processing .wav files? - it's memory - sorry if it's a dumb question.
Q: or like CP Classic V CPX memory
Do any Adafruit products use multilayer PCBs?
I can’t wait for this beastly board screen hybrid Python thing
ding !
Q: I'm confused about BLE. Can a BLE host accept a connection from a Bluetooth 3.0 device? I didn't think so but it seems you did it with your CPY terminal with keyboard.
fingers crossed for PyPortal in the next adabox 🤞
@split gazelle The PyPortal? I have a project ready for it!
@odd stream yar! Sweet!
@odd stream , I do too

Another great show, and another great S&T. Thanks @open girder
Thanks for a great duet of streams!
thanks for another awesome Wednesday! super inspired and energized to make stuff!
thanks everyone and @atomic pebble + Co. great shows tonight!
Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed the show.
Thanks everyone.
thanks all, see you tomorrow!
Fun stuff! Later.
I must away. My bed beckons. 💤
What about HT16K33 boards?
HK16K33 is the chipset that drives the Quad numeric displays, the Quad Alphanumeric Displays and the 16x8 matrix featherwings
that was awesome! so much kidmazing.
They were specifically 7-segment LED featherWing boards
yeah techleader at the end that was SUPER fun! 😃
Ah, okay. I'm familiar with the chip (I've designed it into a couple of my own boards), just curious what else it was being used for. Thanks.
Yeah, those 3 featherwings and a few other boards. Check out the Adafruit_CircuitPython_HT16K33 library for more info on the boards it supports.
I also modified the library to use the chip's keypad function
Yeah, good use of it
Hey, I wasn't able to join tonight's shows -- but they sound like they were pretty awesome
Hey there, let's get ready to do a show!
Good afternoon all you wonderful people!
Drain-O!
Draino? I used way too much of that on my shower over the last 2 days fixing a clog
I think someone put a wooden clog shoe down the drain.
Drain-O is peaking at -8db; ave -10db.
Double meaning to the word "clog" there!
It's the name of that groovy jam you're hearin'.
Only one person uses raspberry Drain-o jams. John Lonestar Park!
Causticly funky.
Hello !
Grooving to the phat beats you are laying down, John!
Where can we hear more of your jams, @haughty quiver ?

Nice '57 Chevy fins on the back.

🤦
😁
Hello @shell mason , good to see you again
Hey, I made it....been awhile
MakeCode Arcade....this is looking pretty awesome. Now I need to build an Adafruit Gaming Console System -- "Now you're playing with CircuitPython Power!"
Looks good, ship it
"Bouncing off of walls." Yup, that's my life in a nutshell.
Change the battery to a beer mug and you have real life
yay the rain stopped!
@waxen thistle In which case it should be "Bouncing off shell" 😉
Caffeine = engineering fuel
Purple chassis + Green Crickit = Hulk-mobile.
@lavish patrol That joke really "BASH"ed me.
It was full of holes... once.
My OCD thanks you for putting all resistors in the same way
@waxen thistle Was it CORNy?
It had a lot of POWER(shell) to it.
If I was OCD, I'd insist on calling it CDO.
Battery bumpers -- the NEW tesla.
SuDo you think it was funny?
hahah purple robot with ground effect lighting
you're killing -9 the mood, guys..
John really "CAT" the Crickit + BLE into awesome output!
Apt get another coffee.
Panasonic now makes Eneloop under their name, but still based on the same Sanyo principles.
When you read the code for this robot, you always want "MORE".
....
Lol.
Forwards, not backwards. Upwards, not forwards. And always twirling. Twirling towards freedom!
Then the battery goes flat, and it's getting dark...
Eneloop’s nominal battery voltage is 1.2v. I type that mostly to remind myself.
Quiz later.
Put a claw on it!
And a chainsaw. 😉
can it run after my daughter for hours on so I don't have to ? 😃
Ooooooo
Or follow the cat around.
Chainsaw attachment: trouble
^^
The parenting package is like 10GB
Thanks @haughty quiver for another awesome show!
I have a cat entertainment robot planned.
great show
thansk @haughty quiver !
right on, thanks all!
Fat beats.
Need a couple of laser pointers for the cat entertainment system, on servos
Later, @haughty quiver
PHAT beats yo
Nicely done @haughty quiver
Like I’m that hip
Thanks JP! Inspired to add some motor speed inertia control and boundary sensors. CPy would make that pretty easy.
Adafruit needs to have some mini flamethrowers in the store.
Good show @haughty quiver
ooh, that's a great idea @inner spade
that'd be fun to have on the rove 😃
Elon did it, Adafruit should
With a flame thrower on it, I could finally have my RC snow removal system
tiny, tiny flamethrower.
One snowflake at a time
persistence is key
It's called a lighter.
Yes.
Proportional steering, where the speed of the slower motor decays gradually to sharpen the turn over time.
Should have the driveway 1/2 clear by the next snowfall.
@haughty quiver I asked this earlier, so apologies for repeating it -- but where can we hear more of your jams like the one we just heard?
Thanks @waxen thistle I've put a few up on bandcamp. https://johnpark.bandcamp.com/
@haughty quiver , was that a really old iPhone you were using?
Cool beans, thanks @haughty quiver
iPhone X, so not too old :)
But this should work with old phones pretty well!
Android or iOS
I thought I saw a silver band around it.
Ah, right! Nostalgic look for sure. It's my clear case making it look that way.
I still have my original iPhone and it's by far the best feeling one in your hand IMHO
Thanks. Where can I get info on the app you were using?
I have my original iPhone as well. Many years ago.
Here you go @outer obsidian https://learn.adafruit.com/bluefruit-le-connect/ios-setup
Thank you sir!
the app actually detected my BLE light bulb which is not at all an Adafruit thing
You can also use it to send data from the Feather back to the UART display on the phone, which is super cool for some applications.
it gave me a lot of info about it, but could not drive it.
Haha, yes, I turn on the filter that only shows devices with UART to keep the list small.
would the app be able to "talk" to a Raspberry Pi or some other intelligent, non adafruit devices ?
I just used the ROVER discount code and message came up as coupon has expired. What am missing?
hang on, let me check. sorry! @next compass
OK, I fixed it, I had the wrong date in for the expiration. Sorry about that, @next compass
Thank you, I always enjoy your show.
^^ my sentiments also @next compass
I've been thinking about building twitch-enabled Crickits, and I'm thinking @haughty quiver upcoming BLE guide will have a big part to play in that.
Sounds eeeenteresting, @waxen thistle !
@rocky reef and @hard hollow is live

Looking forward to the Show & Tell tonight! I've been on the road and can finally show what we've been up to
Hello not sure if this is the right spot for this or not but my daughter Josie would like to show two CPX projects on Show and Tell. Thank you, Elizabeth
hi hi @radiant linden the link will be post here to join at 7:30pm ET
Can I ask how Show and tell will work after Google+ shuts down in the spring? Will a link just be posted here?
I wonder whether Hangouts will still exist?
Google did not say anything about hangouts so I think that it is a safe bet that it will stick around
I have no specific knowledge, but knowing how Ladyada & PT work -- they probably have half a dozen ideas they're testing as we speak.
Morning all.
I wouldn't worry, and I don't expect to see S&T going anywhere other than in a good direction 😃
@lavish patrol good evening 😉

Hey everyone!
Hi @clear matrix
ooooooooooooo
MUSIC!
Very nice @rapid hornet
CircuitBoy: Now you're playing with power!
thanks!
Oh my goodness
.....but it's so yummy.
Fully edible?
@earnest cipher I heard that too.
Editable 😄
Fully edible!
From the Kings of Foamcore.
Theoretically, you can make a 3D printer with chocolate and probably a few types of candy, too
We recommend you don't eat foamcore, folks 😛
(Problem is keeping it clean and uncontaminated.... ewwww)
A rapper? Does it do music?
Foam board messes up the lenses in my laser. Cuts great but needs hours of cleaning after
Probably stinks as well while it's being cut.
Not as bad as you would think. Smells like burning paper and caulk
@earnest cipher Oooof, I can imagine the sort of issues that might arise from foam lasering
@haughty quiver is a jack of all trades.
Once you get the focus correct it works like a charm but my first few cuts it just lit on fire inside the Glowforge
Super cool
@waxen thistle You joker.
His projects go all-in, and the audience draws a full house.
Wait we can submit quotes
he has a full deck.
Mike has a real pulse on the state of CircuitPython.
I've heard of putting your heart into your work...
Mike's on the beat.
Lights up my room as I work on circuitPython libraries, heartbeat correlated with when code breaks 😃
Is that Morse code, Mike?
@trim mountain I'm so sorry to hear that. Sounds like an amazing life lived.
@inner spade Might be a samba? 🕺
Wow look at that
@trim mountain Sorry for your loss.
That's an amazing cabin
all of that is incredible!
that sculpture is amazing, looks like large leaves blowing in the wind
Fantastic and inventive!
A wonderful tribute @trim mountain
Such an amazing tribute, @trim mountain.. Thank you for sharing.
that was a lovely tribute @trim mountain ❤

Hi, I'm building the Qi wirleless portablecharger using the directions provided by Adafruit and I have successfully been able to charge my devices with the micro usb cable plugged in. However, when I have the battery plugged in to the JST port on the Powerboost 1000C and the micro usb power source is removed, the entire board shuts down. The battery does not appear to be charging or providing power in anyway. I appreciate any help in advance.
YAY! Digi-Key and Adafruit!
Thanks Digi-key!

IT RUNS, which is amazing
Evening Mr. @odd stream
is Scott running Circuit Python on a keyboard AND a game boy ?
That Rhode Island event is right down the street from me. I'm already busy that day though.
@upper sandal I do believe @rapid hornet intends on running CP on everything
The dark side of the penguin
That's what you see from the back of the screen.
@upper sandal more like in them 😃
If someone gave Scott a replica Lunar Descent Module, he'd have CP running on the landing computer in about three weeks.
Scott is putting CircuitPython in everything! Wonder when he'll be running it CircuitPyTron-style?
So looking forward to digging into the PyPortal. Soon.. One project/guide to finish up and then it's time for it.

@proper trench You took SICP at MIT? With Sussman?
I've been working on a "standard library" for CircuitScheme, written in scheme & loadable as desired.
@haughty quiver Nice rover. I wished I could have used CP when I did mine a while back.
We want to see it. 😃
Nice. Sussman is so awesome. He taught a "what came after SICP" at google for a week.
i'd be super into a text adventure on pyportal
That'd make for an awesome live-stream "Let's Play". I'd totally do that.

If it hasn't been suggested yet, "Adafruit Maglev" for the new wifi board in Top Secret.
#top-secret name for the new board - Rocket. Rail transport theme and pioneering innovation.
If it wouldn't run afoul of Disney, I'd be tempted to call it the "Webway Packetmover", which is a reference to Disney's WEDWay Peoplemover, a magnetic linear induction railroad.

Love this project. Can’t wait to get my hands on one. Thanks for the video.
[ok, time to do a data-in-place upgrade from MacOS 10.12 Sierra to 10.14 Mojave, then a fresh install on the disk for a factory-fresh experience]
yikes
@waxen thistle I upgraded to Mojave 2 days ago. So far I'm happy with it.
I haven't done a full refresh on this machine since I got it in late 2013. I've done a few data-in-place OS upgrades too -- I'm starting to see small glitches and random issues.
@quick veldt Yes, I was coding the MakeCode Arcade game to play in browser and on the RPi. https://learn.adafruit.com/how-to-make-games-on-makecode-arcade
Ah. This is a relatively new machine, so I did not refresh it this time. I blasted my previous one a bit ago and it was sooooo nice.
@clear matrix Nice -- the whole reason that prompted this was a bunch of random glitches with homebrew trying to get the source for CP. After some homework, all signs pointed to "refresh the machine".
Moving back in is like moving into a new apartment, it seems rather empty for a while, but it's so much cleaner than your previous place, and you promise you'll keep it that clean moving forward since it's already so clean, but you never do 😉
Hahaha....how true 😃
Another thing that convinced me to do this -- Scott's mission control transitions during his circuitpython twitch stream were so jaw-droppingly smooth. I realized....maybe....maybe I do have a problem.
I think Wirecast is the main reason I can't upgrade to Mojave yet.
I hit the brakes on High Sierra because my version of VMWare fusion wasn't compatible. Then again for Mojave because it didn't support Win7 in bootcamp. Now that I've upgraded both over the last few months -- the pieces are falling into place.
Macs have lost their luster
Let’s not turn this into an OS war —- each have their pros and cons. As an IT person, I use everything. It’s just the right tool for the job.
😃
Oh I don't mean the OS
I mean the direction of the company and MacOS hardware
If I could have MacOS without buying Apple hardware I would
It's a nice compromise between Linux and Windows
@quick veldt Too many seatbelts and airbags for me. Too much stuff getting in my way.
With MacOS?
Windows and MacOS are increasingly designed for the non tech-savvy.
To be fair, that was always the vision of Macintosh
I, personally, prefer a wickedly sharp powertool.
To me, MacOS is Linux with software support
Linux with rounded rects 😃
Windows is the king of software with the worst possible way to manage packages
MacOS has a delightful and great to use appstore
Linux has a great package manager without all the of same software
I've been a big fan of BSD for a long time.
Good morning all you wonderful people!

PocketPortal -- hey. That explains why money keeps disappearing from my pockets.... "Now you're thinking with portals!"

Do you ship the board as black or purple?

That sounds like a code: "The Purple is the Prototype"

Thank you @hard hollow and @rocky reef
See you next week guys... 👋
See y'all later this evening. 😃
thanks so much for hanging out folks!
@lavish patrol ?
Has anyone looked at creating dynamic bitmaps for PyPortal within the CircuitPython code running on the PyPortal? I have one arriving this week and am thinking of using it to show status of forecast/actuals by creating squares to represent 12 months, 4 quarters, year end and based on JSON data downloaded daily, I would rebuild the bitmap to show squares as green/yellow/red as data changes daily/weekly/monthly. I know there appears to be APIs for text and graphics besides pulling down a bmp file from site. I am guessing I would have to rebuild the pixels for each square as color changes based on data. It would be similar to updating counts but those are text fields instead of graphics. I guess I could also have a serverless function in the cloud somewhere that builds the bitmap and then I would just refresh the bmp at intervals rather than do the processing on PyPortal.
@rocky reef is the STL for that pyportal stand available ? Missed the show but will catch it when I get home. So disregard if you mention it.

Heh. Just checked thingiverse and there it was. Will print a couple this afternoon!
@hard hollow The two orientations are a nice touch. Any reason the base is open on one?
@odd stream oh yea it was mainly to save on print time (cuts about half hour)
I only used to get excited about Friday's.. obvious reason, end of the week. Now since I got hooked on adafruit and fell down it's rabbit hole.. I love Wednesday's too 😃
So thanks adafruit for helping us get thru our work weeks 😃
@paper schooner I totally agree. And now that I design, build, and write about projects Fridays have no special meaning.
Purple PyPortal is so good looking
The PyPortal is a kliller piece of hardware. All that might be missing is some I/O brought out to a header.
But it's easy enough to hook up a 23017 to add digital I/O
@hard hollow FWIW I just did some printing with translucent filament (for lighting effects). Cool stuff.
for sure, back lit diffusers = always a delight 😃
Just picked up a kid's toy, partly for the diffuser.
Catching up on the show now.
I'm definitely going to have to put together some CircuitScheme support for PyPortal.
@odd stream I haven't tried it yet, but there are a couple pins of IO brought out to the 3 conductor JST connectors on PyPortal.
@haughty quiver Yes, 2 digital/analog connections.
Hey @haughty quiver - great news! Bryce got them to share the design doc to the Maker community... thought I'd talk about it on S&T (unless you want to) https://twitter.com/brycej/status/1100869437710725121
We published some notes on how to create input devices for the #XboxAdaptiveController. As alwyas we'd love to hear how these are, and how they can be better. https://t.co/3fsz3IPErz
Hey @odd stream I had that thought about the 23017 too... but the truth is the SeeSaw breakout board will be more effective & adds analog!
And I think the 12c connection can be converted to two digital (maybe analog too) pins (not sure)
Looking forward to "the best 1/2 hour of the week" 😃
Yikes - everyone got quiet!
Evenin' @clear matrix -- doing well?
Quite, @waxen thistle. Yourself?
@pearl shoal That's true.. had totally forgot about the seesaw. My experience with the 23017 goes way back in comparison.
I consider it the best hour and a half. 😃
I'm doing pretty decently. 😃
Though I do enjoy the CircuitPython weekly meetings as well.
And I can't forget about Noe and Pedro in the AM too
Yeah, I try to catch them when I can.
And also Mr. Park's Chiptune-palooza tomorrow
I'm always working for the CP meetings. And 3D printing one. And my Thursday afternoons are already taken.
Hi, folks. I've eaten my pizza, and I'm back.
