And that's a good point. We use it. than we don't. then we do. It can't be complicated when that is how it is used.
I love Eagle for the few occasions when I need the depth, but it doesn't scale well to the "one PCB design every 3 months" level that would benefit me the greatest. If I could tailor the interface to just the 10 features I need for 80% of my designs and reveal the other 200 features once a year when doing the tough stuff, I'd be really happy.
it's like going thru learning curve everytime
There is a benefit though going with the 800lb gorilla/the industry leader. Like @split gazelle inferred, if many people are using it, it has the community support. Arduino, RPi, Feathers....versus Intel Gallelio π
A Use-it-or-lose-it attribute is not a good maker community situation for a product to be in.
@waxen thistle thats the value of the maker market. its a community that can document in the open
@waxen thistle which is only reason i'm exploring circuitpy
@waxen thistle you'd think Intel would be a gorilla
Phew, that was close, almost just thought my cat was a pillow
@brazen grove For CPUs, sure. For microcontrollers....doesn't seem so? π
I think Intel's major problem was price point. Its expensive to get into that game with little doc/community/resources
same with Freescale iMX. although admittedly, they're more towards industrial than maker...
and what's the deal with instructables? are they gonna update app for ios
It's a terrifying moment when you go "I need an adult!" followed by "Oh, crap, I AM the adult!"
The innmates are running the asylum.
somebody catch the link?
rossdoell?
ah nice! I missed the e
Thanks.
Any way to chain 5 circuit Playground together?
i want a 3d printer so bad, but i know i'd hate it
I got one the other week. It's awesome.
that's good
Also new to printing & I'm hooked
It makes me want to build a giant one.
@alpine nova Are you kidding. I absolutely LOVE my 3D printer.
i can't afford to open any more cans of worms right now
Delta Go 3d Printer is on sale
I bought a 3d printer in 2015 . I was a new maker...it was frustrating at first because I made some mistakes and I had to do some fixing of the printer but once I got it it was amazing
@split gazelle I'm a little surprised you didn't immediately try to re-do your Menorah with 3D-printed parts.
i suppose i'm waiting for a friend who started on ground level to tell me which printer is worth investing in
@icy glade why do you want chain the circuitplaygrounds? Are they expresses?
=v1 circuit playgrounds for a Santa hat
@split gazelle yea, i was thinking what @river peak said
@icy glade so the neopixels will chain?
Correct neopixels on the boards
@river peak I considered it but I wanted to see the PVC pipe idea thru. Making weird housings work is one of my favorite things
@gray nest cue the leek! π
I still thinking of a trinket and a neopixel strip though instead
@icy glade I think the strip would be easier
Noe and Pedro are tops on snap together 3D parts
the circuitplaygrounds don't expose the data in or data out lines to the neopixels
Ok I still have time to order and get it before Xmas.
@split gazelle Yeah, halfway through a project isn't the best time to compeltely re-do
All engineers mess up. Make mistakes. It's how you learn and move on from them that matters!
@split gazelle you'd love my current project - trying to design a new housing for my side mounted lazy susan servo
5v trinket and Meyer of led strip
to use 5 CPs you'd need each to talk with each other by i2c or something
Put teeth on it and it's a skull.
That's a great case!
Yeah thought that guess Iβm ordering a neopixel strip, will I need capacitors to my order with the strip and 5v trinket?
so cute
awww!
I'd suggest following the neopixel uberguide
The sound sensor capability?
Looks great!
@icy glade cap is recommended. 100uF i believe.
It kinda reminded of a Wraith research base from Stargate: Atlantis: https://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/stargate/images/d/df/WraithLab.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20080806121915
Arduino form factor is LARGE
Iβll Laos try individual playgrounds and see how they diffuse and light Santa hat first tonight.
i'm currently redesigning my project from arduino to circuitpy with feather
Circuit playground gigantic edition
feather environment is amazing. i do dig it immensely.
yes!!
the pins were actually designed, not just randomized like with arduino
video production is the loner art
for example, the gnd is not next to vin
@lethal lagoon !!!!
@lethal lagoon Yay!!!
i saw @lethal lagoon 's project in laughing squid today
so we need to build phil a keyboard for his vidpro? is that what I heard?
πΈπ€π
haha love the sound effects while printing
printing noises!
hopefully it has modem sounds when connecting too!
@alpine nova @lethal lagoon did the sound effects herself
of course she did!!
will eagle get proper vector and bitmap support in the future?
anybody else having streaming lag?
she missed again this week? @lethal lagoon you're even famouser!!
Q: Any chance the board size limit will be changed or a more useful limit
Can you get PCB creation back on 123dcircuits?
oh, and amazing job on that @lethal lagoon
@lethal lagoon usually catches up later after work
when is AAE going to become one hour thirty min?
But board size is a really bad way
@alpine nova it is on demand already
and S&T should be an hour
If I wanted to make suggestions on how to change Fusion 360 to make it more usable for people with disabilities is there someone at Autodesk I could contact with suggestions?
@open girder Mike, can you tell us when Feather designs will be released? (just whisper...ladayada and phil are close, but they won't hear)
i gotta say watching a project like @lethal lagoon 's bot evolve is one of tthe things i'm really liking about show and tell
@rapid hornet meaning what?
@alpine nova this one is already an hour and a half
yes, but official?
nope
i mean officially so i can plan around it
i should just block out wed afternoons to allow for extra dischord time
I doubt it ever will be because phil and limor are buuussssyyyyy
I've seen them rush a few times to go to other things
Yaaaay for the Greater Toronto Area.
As busy as they are, running their own tech business in manhattan, I appreciate them running the show late because they want to help their audience and community π
Congrats Carson!
congrats carson
Serious cred to Carson for not creating horrific echo like most people who call in. π
Thanks for a wonderful show!
when there are guests they often run over to allow plenty of time to talk
Thanks!
thanks for the shows!
@open girder Thanks again for another wonderful evening of shows!
Great show. Make a great day. ><>
Amazing show guys! Have a great night! Thanks to Mike & Matt for coming on. @pearl portal @dim knot

great show, thanks!
yup yup
one person pointed it out and I suggested emailing support if they really cared
should get google to fix the adafruit pronounciation
Heh yeah
double cap touch is super clever
cool!
@open girder I know this might be a little late, but here's a really awesome, well-priced industrial foot switch (thought about it when you were showing your bag making video). https://temcoindustrial.com/temco-cn0003-foot-switch-1qty.html
mesmerized by soldering
The yellow area is mostly open, so you can stuff a feather or trinket in there.
hmm. does foot switch void liability and/or meet osha? (i'm a slight darwinist, but would hate for any of you to get bit by that thing)
@muted mesa naw, it's an install-able option
with sensors on the device and all that
roger dodger. just checking. (been through too many safety inspections and training) π
yup, same here, we do it right
@open girder can you post a video (or maybe one exists) of just soldering
They should have a drink that makes it so you can't be hurt.
A neighbour lost most of his hand working in a machine shop.

One conversation with him will make anyone take that stuff more seriously.
@river peak You're working hard to retain that Master Punner title today π
haha. @alpine nova 10 hours of solder blobbing on yt?
If I don't, I end up pun-ished!
"if you didn't feel that, we just had another one baby" @river peak
alright...gotta go hang out with the angsty pre-teen.
glwt
Angsty pre-teen? Ooof.
what was the ohm bit for?
@fleet monolith phone number for pay phone used for contest at end of show.
yeah dont know how to use that.lol didnt use discord that much
Yes, Tnx for the shows!
@alpine nova all kinds of soldering in this one:

thx @strange mantle i'm just gonna space out on that for a whileπ€
actually, would have to edit it down to just soldering joint after joint
hey y'all happy wednesday!
hey sophy! ...liked your bot vid π
@kindred ore oh yay thank you!!! i am catching up, watching AAE now
happy wednesday @lethal lagoon that bot is impressive. nicely done!
@kindred ore omg your dubstep bathroom! amazing!
hi @muted mesa thanks so much! glad you like it π
awesome show and tell tonight, so many cool projects
@lethal lagoon Did you make that photo taking box with the printer?
it was a great string of shows tonight.
@heavy siren yep that's me
@lethal lagoon That is amazing. The simple yet expressive faces, the sounds of yesterday, the printout. All packaged like that. Excellent work.
@lethal lagoon tyvm! but honestly it's just phase one ...gonna add a lot in the next year, i just gotta learn how to show off my stuff better, i get off work at 7pm so i barely get home in time to log on
@heavy siren oh thanks! we did a lot of brainstorming and thinking to figure out it would be and it ended up being that π it was a super fun design process for that project
@kindred ore it looks great! showing things is hard, especially online through a camera. the timing is tough for me too, I get off of work in the middle of Ask An Engineer so I need to skip out early to make it to Show and Tell
(which is totally worth it, btw)
but i can't always swing it
know what u mean
@lethal lagoon Well, it looks like a lot of thought went into it. The personality projections are what impresses me. You nailed that.
@kindred ore Ok, think of this. 2:00am, 60 years old, turn on the lights, BAM, heartattack!!! So, if you could tone it down with amber colors, soothing waterfalls sounds, fading transitions, now that would work for me. π
@heavy siren thanks π that's my favorite part, it's fun to see how much expression you can convey with a few movements/changes
@lethal lagoon I'll bet it was fun to do. And it's not just software, it's the graphics and sounds and all properly synced. You did good girl. Very good indeed.
@heavy siren whats really spooky is looking over in the night & seeing the grout lines glowing ...can last like 6 hrs or more ...but ya i'm working on soothing programs too
used blue glow ...so it looks cool ...not that green stuff
@kindred ore Cool! Just thinking about being in it in the 60's on windowpane or microdot. THAT would be a trip.
i love that top secret cpx case... reminds me of a facehugger
Yeah, the edges were open for clips. Neat idea.
took a sec to find a pic ...but, yeah ...trippy
check that out. unreal.
whoa very tron
With my steamy hot bubble baths, lights like that, Led Zepplin, and a vape stick, I'd be in heaven.
yeah this link shows the sequence much better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhT9kUvqsBA
my first sequence in the electric bathroom,. It's a work in progress ...2018 we'll add the mirrors vanity lights & more. Project vids coming for those soon. ...
@kindred ore YESSSSsssss..... That was fantastic.
Wait till I show my wife what I now want for Christmas.
What'll ya think she'll say?
i dunno ..most peeps just ask me "what's your end game?" i think that may be nice way of saying i think you're crazy π
i mean really ...a lil encouragement here goes a long way
End game? Looks finished to me. Some people just don't get it.
Anyway, I remember a friend in college used green lights in his bathroom and not realizing it, when you leave, everything you look at is red. Like looking through a piece of red ceolophane. Have you ever tried something like that?
It's cool. Your brain will adjust for the green saturation over a small period of time. But suddenly when in normal light the red is emphasised. Way cool effect.
@kindred ore I wonder if you're the first person to do Show and Tell from their bathroom
yeah ...i get it ...that'd be a fun experiment
@river peak i'm not a star trek fan ....but i boldly go ...
that's funny
You mentioned earlier that the lighting is pre-scripted and not based on interacting with the audio?
That seems like a good thing. Lighting in reaction to things is cool and all, but you don't really need to have it reacting to bowel movements.
It kind of reminds me of that show cash cab... people would get into the cab thinking it's a normal cab and then BLAM the lights go crazy!
maybe you could host a surprise game show in there
Great show. Whatch it whever I can.
LOL .......however you have no idea how happy i was when i found a jingle bells that sounded like fart noises
your killin me @river peak
Most of the time my jokes are crappy. But toilet humor fits here.
see ...thats what i try to bring to the party
Oh O, @river peak is going to flush the pun buffer. π
get it? flush? yeah, I'm no good at puns either.
golf clap
A lot of responses would get me kicked for having a potty mouth
you mean you would be bot-ed out? yuk yuk....
Download free EAGLE software. Available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

@paper peak thanks
@haughty quiver what are you doing in your workshop
Something Star Wars-ish...
cool

still echo
there is some echo
not yet

now it is better
Kinda miss the auditorium effect now.
yeah. the 58 is workhorse!
If there's a mute switch for each channel, mute anything you don't need.
Hello all you wonderful people!
Wait, I heard "stupid and dangerous"....who said my middle names?
@haughty quiver Good ventilaion is a must and don't lick the phosphor. Most of the mercury vapor settles into the phosphor in used bulbs.
John - lost sound at 27 min after the hour
I nearly heard ya
@haughty quiver no sound
sounds on
Mime workshop
Wooooooooo!!! I made it for the last 30 minutes of John's workshop!!!
@haughty quiver im working on finishing up my lightsaber too!
@haughty quiver they sell plastic tubes that are actually for protecting flourescent tubes. you could get one of those instead of using flourescent tubes hahaha
Just tell your son it's a custom upgrade
Daaad!?
@haughty quiver As soon as i can get this thing done im making you a video hahahaha
@haughty quiver I was told if you turn down the brightness of the leds it'll show better on video
That looks great!
Uploading my video to my google drive right now
@haughty quiver https://photos.app.goo.gl/Vwqjrqj0xZNaLwFe2
πΊ
@haughty quiver Excellent. Dangerous. Musical. Echoriffic.
Nice job John.
Was definitely a cool build!
Sometimes making means breaking.
@heavy siren I agree!! I "broke" my expensive lightsaber to make it cooler
Great stream, thanks!
You could easily add sound and use an accel to detect motion to make it hummmm.
sound would be terrific!
maybe the Audio FX board.
Another thought is to do it w the Feather M0 Express which can play .wav files
via CircuitPython
yup, that's what I was thinking. Size is fine. The speaker could point out the back.
If you find some good lightsaber sound effects let me know John! I need some for when i decide to make my lightsaber completely custom
Can the phone connection send data to the phone app besides take commands and send them to the device?
I think I found some nice ones on Freesound.org
ohhhhhhhhhh
@heavy siren yes, you can send UART and Serial back
check out the Formula E racing car bot I built
Great. Make the saber from opaque plastic tubes that won't break. Make two sabers. Duel and when struck the hits can be detected and scored to the phone.
ohhhh that would be cool. you just gotta differentiate between bodily hits and other saber hits
Right. using location. accel data for swing or not. The skies the limit.
I am apparently a limit now
lol
@haughty quiver Here is what i meant for the bulb covers. you'd just need some white foam inside or something unless you could find an opaque one.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Metalux-White-Bulb-Guard/50061743
here @heavy siren https://learn.adafruit.com/my-mini-race-car/how-your-robot-works-the-basics?view=all#temperature-and-humidity-data
@haughty quiver Right, right. I remember that project now.
@lean grail I built a bunch of light towers using these frosted 1" O.D. acrylic tubes http://www.eplastics.com/EATFRST1-000X0-750X72 they're awesome
I use a processor called Simblee for phone to project comm. Haven't used Adafruit stuff for that yet.
ohhhhhh!!! yeah you could definitely use those then!
if i had to guess id say the blade on my lightsaber is probably the same thing as you posted there John
There's something wonderfully terrifying about these glass ones ;)
Hahahahaha. could be fun if you had 2 of them and did a slowmo video of 2 people smashing them together
That would be super fun.
@haughty quiver When mounted on the wall, take a picture and show us. The fact that it can be changed from your lazyboy during a football game with your phone is perfect.
will do!

Do banana plugs fit and function in the holes of the CPX?
nope, they aren't thick enough, really. use alligator clips
All of these pins are cute π And surprisingly high quality (or not so surprising, since it's Adafruit).
okay, thanks
or you can attach with a machine screw
the pins will outlast most of us
@proper trench Which size of machine screw fits the CPX pad holes?
thanks but I have a esp8226 no ble connected.
@proper trench That mirrors my quick research -- a #4 screw should work.

Super safe with Brass knuckles
everyone say hi to @spring heath author of getting started with trinket, working on a new book with adafruit too
Can't find anything else on digikey that I need/want and am currently willing to pay for...
hi @spring heath π
@spring heath Hello, welcome to our wonderful community.
hi @spring heath , thanks for writing!
I've been using the CPX with MakeCode for a month or so. I've posted some simple code on the Adafrit forms with more to come
Makecode was a bit of a puzzler the first approach, but then, without practicing or thinking about it, I tried it again 3-5 weeks later. No trouble at all creating a quick sketch with it. So, retention of the learning was high.
Hey @spring heath Thank you for the book. It was my first reference when I returned to electronics a few years ago.
hi @spring heath Welcome!
I'm on a train so I missed out on all of the festivities for Adabox:(
I'll have to get caught up later...
its happening right now!
Kudos to Microsoft, their free MakeCode website and code is super powerful but is eeeeasy to learn and share code with friends
I'm trying to use Makecode and the CPX to make a tape measure that will be rolled for distance. I 3D printed a wheel for the CPX to sit inside. Not working yet but....
@heavy siren that sounds awesome!
Is the stream still going? Train WiFi won't let me load YouTube
yah
btw, makecode is OPEN SOURCE
@heavy siren see this project https://learn.adafruit.com/circuit-playground-kaleidoscope/inside?view=all which used the older CP to detect rolling on edge and reacting, it might help.
very cool!
@split gazelle It should be great if it works. Math has me a bit bewildered at the moment. My two genius boys will be home for the holidays and will have them work on it.
@spring heath HEY!, that looks perfect. Thanks eh...
The Z axis mainly tells you if the coin is heads or tails or standing on edge. X and Y alone cannot tell you if the coin (or aircraft) is inverted or not.
we will have snow globes in the store, getting good samples
we hope there is still snow, but if not, snow globes will remind us
Yes, you might need some math - the CP/CPX is 2 " , circumference is 2 inches * 3.1416
that's fantastic news about the snow globes!
are you going to do an adabot snow globe?
yah just trying to get good watertight ones
nice job @clear matrix !

@haughty quiver The projects look great!
I just got a CPX during the recent scale and was having fun with MakeCode - looking forward to trying some Circuit Python on it.
There should be a way to put the CPX on a 33 1/3 RPM turntable and synch the 10 NPX LEDs so that they're stable (they turn at the same reverse rate as the turntable does underneath them).
secret agent theme for adabox 007?
spy theme π
From the second season, the opening credits of "The Bloodhound Gang" which were a series of short mysteries that aired as part of "3-2-1 Contact" on PBS.
@fallow fractal, you could detect the x & y rotation and set the LEDs appropriately, I did a project where I kept the LED "at top" even if it was turning
3-2-1 Contact was an awesome show!
It's Fruit. Ada Fruit.
s
I'm presently using MakeCode:micro:bit with 3 bits talking over the radio for a game to play over the holidays while watching football. MakeCode needs to be given more promotion time. I've had a blast with it.
@fallow fractal simple math would solve that one. assuming you don't have pitch control and its at a steady 33 1/3....
Thinking of a song parody: "Secret Ada-box, secret ada-box...."
so much thanks to you @clear matrix and all the wonderful CircuitPython peeps

Please share your AdaBox 006 projects in the AdaBox forum and your CPX projects in the Circuit Playground forum. Love to see cool & innovative and those who are just getting their feet wet
How many times can you say you can directly talk to the owner and the CFO of a tech company in discord....on a routine basis π
I was thinking of #ConstructionTechniques today
Oh Oh, I know, I know,..... ADAFRUIT!... π
Thanks @muted mesa - that's the AdaBox forum π
why spend it all on marketing when we can all just hang out, share, and empower each other
precisly.
@spring heath np! making the dream work, right? π
there's also some great projects people have already tweeted https://twitter.com/i/moments/943146770955161601 you can get inspired!
Moments of ADABOX delight, learning, and sharing with @adafruit http://www.adabox.com

@adafruit Just enough parts in the latest #adabox to make this tree ornament! https://t.co/7AWFgGMHkh
Hello everyone
yeah, dyno is cruel sometimes. he runs a tight ship.
hey @formal peak be chill π
Hey, we all share, we all learn (and it doesn't cost a thing to either share or learn from the forums, tutorials, even Gooogle other projects for ideas
It does cost something -- giving your time to make someone else's project experience better. It's an awesome and noble gift to give.
turns out "time" is the most amazing valueable thing we can give each other
there is nothing more special
For the Trinket book, I took all the hints from the forums on how to best work with Trinket and put it in to help folks. If someone documents something and lets others know, we all win
I am currently doing the same thing for a "Don't Ask" project for 2018
i like the thank you stuff @rapid hornet added to the builds
@open girder agree π―
π
I put stacking headers (cut from 36 pin) on Trinket M0. I liked the result. The nylon screws in that big assortment box of them (m 2.5) just thread, so you don't absolutely have to have a nut on the component side -- can screw in from underneath, to mount. Didn't hold very well, but wasn't loose either.

it's like watching a movie, the credits shows all the people who did something
@rapid hornet has been amazing with the info he's shared
@polar trellis thanks, I based it on this guide by @hard hollow and @rocky reef https://learn.adafruit.com/arcade-button-control-box/overview
@everyone ... you guessed it, hug report it up for @rapid hornet

here's another neat holiday project https://twitter.com/dansapienza/status/942550695806242816
I found a fun use for the Adabox 006 from @adafruit and my @lulzbot3D printer. Didn't have to buy a new tree topper. https://t.co/NhjVVa7js6
@rapid hornet yup, done
@rapid hornet
@rapid hornet is the best! He alone gave me the will to fight the ASF4 beast
You can see the code and idea sharing throughout the Adafruit Learning SYstem - one takes pieces of code and reuses it for other projects - I call it "saving time for creativity on the project" rather than "theft", but hey
ok, @paper peak helped too
@.here is generally better for this kind of situation π
You can also disable server notifications if you're getting annoyed π
Adabox is dope
i forget which is which here/everyone, i'll make a macro

Ollie, did you figure it out? π
yes
maybe we can update more to moar one day
alias moar='more'
@rapid hornet and @paper peak along with the entire CPy team welcomed this neophyte and helped me break through some conceptual barriers. I now have a working autonomous string car racer controller (predictive braking, collision avoidance) running CPy on a Trinket M0!
ok folks, we're out, thank you everyone ..... @here .... see, fixed!

Unfortunately it wasn't his last
Im looking to use my Circuit playground express to make a wearable item that I can wear to my sisters wedding. Any suggestions?
@velvet beacon, I'll email you tomorrow
@spring heath sounds good! Chat then :)
@viral zenith use the sparkle animation and use it like a lapel flower
MakeCode it'd be 1 line ish
maybe put a flower over it with the sparkle animmation behind it
Use a mini servo to make a spinning bow tie.
@spring heath a link to any guides would be nice.
Put it on the garder so it glows from underneath the wedding dress.
ok folks, tomorrow is another day in the diplomacy biz (my current main gig), catch you in the forums and on other Adafruit shows
would like to use the circuit python, but kinda intimidated as well
any suggestions
there is a cpx library which can help
I was at first but I followed a couple of the tutorials and it all made sense fairly quickly and coding definitely isn't my strong suit
Gus, go to the Adafruit forums under Circuit Playground, I'll post a picture
You shouldn't worry about getting your hands dirty... A bug is just a feature you haven't fully developed yet.
@viral zenith how much time do you have?
plenty
(I mean till the wedding)
yeah that should be plenty
Start small. A block or two at a time. You can work on smaller portions of the feature set in different scripts.
Once those work, start combining features in slightly larger scripts.
ok, I put up the MakeCode on the Circuit Playground forum for lapel ideas with sparkle. You all can help Gus by adding to that post.
@viral zenith
Later folks
Thanks to everyone at Adafruit and this awesome community! Nothing else like it, so inspiring and helpful and welcoming and supportive! Hugs and thanks to all!

@shell mason One of our local hockey players was honored recently and will be playing for Finland in the World Junior Championship when they play in Canada on Dec 26. He's one of our favorite players.
He was Finland's captain in a past U-18 championship.
We're in the US, Washington state, so that officially makes it a small world, huh?
@inner spade you saw the lights for Finland100 celebration in Finland Independence day there
@shell mason He was in Helsinki on Dec 6 for the celebration -- watching it for us.
washington had celebration lights
Not in our neck of the woods, unfortunately.
We're on the opposite side of the state from Seattle.

I wonder if JP can MacGuyver up something that works like the TV show prop π
@waxen thistle The CPX in that case has some serious prop potential.
not that I noticed...
If I remember correctly, Discord isn't direct connect to servers like IRC is. Somewhere along the line, there can be an issue that means you have issues with Discord but nobody else on the same server does.
I could be wrong though

My internet was mean and made me drop out of show and tell
If you want blue smoke, find a chip you don't want, then put a "too large a voltage" on it, then you get

It's fine now but it was bad for a second too long
@green pagoda π¦
@green pagoda booooo
what were you gonna show?
Stupid internet.
I've seen stupid Internet already, it was pretty stupid.
Lives up to its name

I've been working on a Christmas gift for my dad and I've almost finished a framed weather display to show the weather for tomorrow

Very nice - cornhole scoring electronically is non-trivial
@green pagoda got any pics?
I can take some
I was looking at a scoring system that detected the bag through the hole
@green pagoda it'd be awesome to see!
@rapid hornet @green pagoda I second that

π
New new new new
is there somewhere I can download the new new new intro song?
@split gazelle It's a 50" plasma I got for $20. Needs fixes to the power board, but the kit only cost $25. Less than $1 per inch!
Is it live yet?
There we go, nevermind
@polar tulip the place to look would be adafruit's soundcloud account
Love the Doctor Jacoby glasses on pt.
@rapid hornet Thank you!
What? No new?
oh right, it's in there
lol just kidding...

is hoping for the trinket m0 express or the itsy bitsy...
@brazen grove check the website...
oh, right, you have a website
I'm putting in another big order tonight (leveling up some tools) ... I have so many trinketM0s now π
Are you ever going to make a cdma fona?
but that's not m0
πΊπΈ
@odd stream MORE TRINKETS! MOAR!
@versed mountain there aren't many modules available, and they're EXPENSIVE!
π΅ All I want for Christmas is two Gift Certificates π΅
@brazen grove those were news to me too
THE MORE TRINKETS, THE BETTER!
All I want for Christmas, is pretty much everything in the Adafruit store...
@paper peak yes, they are useful too -- finally a 32u4 board that is small but breaks out all the ports
@paper peak last time I made a keyboard I had to desolder the LEDs to get extra gpios...
I think our dog needs something blinky . . .
Assemble the Assembler?
I really loved Chris's ornaments. Not sure if he's in discord, but if he is and someone knows his username please tag him!
wait, did the CEO of Nintendo just ask for the easiest PI3 emulator in YT chat? π
That's the name yes
I'm sure that was totally him
chris is @trim mountain @split gazelle
I know I know. it was just funny to see...
@rapid hornet thanks!
np
AdaBox006 has so many things so you can make many different projects
The CPX is such a great board.

I agree about 006! I have several games in mind as well as some music related apps. Just need more time!
Cat
This is a really touching video.
Yes?
#dadjokes
I saw a cat on the video π
Oh, you mean the cat in the video
π±
they doubled the standard deduction right? reduces the incentive to itemize deductions (which is what charity deductions go)
got module playground boards today
Thank you
I hadn't even thought about this aspect of the bill. Thanks @pearl shoal for the explanation!
when does it actually apply?
arrgh.
How is a stark command from a robot a good thing here?
β€ companies who pay employees their wage to help a charity
That's totally wrong.
So, don't talk about T Rump.
Thanks for the tax planning info, Adafruit
love those new stamp designs
So, as i was typing. I read that prez won't sign until January, bc of the pay as you go rules. the bill will need a waiver since it doesn't pay for itself. if he signed now, there's no time to get the waiver worked out. so, wait...then they have all year to "work" on it...
Not until 2018 taxes (i.e. filing deadline April 15th 2019). Charity contributions for 2017 taxes is December 31st. Doubling the standard deduction sounds great but they removed the personal exemption which offsets that quite a bit.
Hmm
Everyone has their own story - good to listen, share, be kind
Everyone has a story to tell and I have a lot to learn...
whoa they dropped the exemptions for kids (aka dependents)
nvm there is a separate child tax credit
yeah, they also doubled the child credit
That is the coolest wrapping paper
That's awesome wrapping paper
Whatβs happening in that photo
Wow, they are rappers now
When will the adafruit wrapping paper be available on the store?
Will there be a giftwrapping option?
You should rap that story.
i used to have a HP6100 at work. so awesome (and infuriating) to work with.
"Just be kind."
It sounds so simple, but it's so profound. Be "just" kind. That's the bare minimum. By all means, be awesome, amazing, and caring of each other. Go above and beyond. But if not...just be kind. π
Magic Leap is vaporware until they actually ship.
that's definition of vaporware, isn't it?
I'd call a humidifier vaporware...
@brazen grove , yes, I guess I should say it's nothing to get excited about until it ships.
excitement is kinda fun
@river peak You're working to keep your title π
It's always work.
er
I'm always working
That... didn't work out.
I'll have to work on it
It looks like a blob
But not THE blob.
It looks like a lost sock from my dryer.
your left sock?
....so that's where it went.
π½
There used to be a TV program that would look at UFO/unknown footage and see if it could be recreated (or not)
Itβs a pigasus!
IWhat happened to discussions about enginnering...last few weeks seem to be drifting off course.
The blob is actually a pigasus
Aliens come here looking for intelligent life. ...@river peak, want to take it from here?
Both Puthoff and Bigelow are staples of Art Bell's radio show from a decade ago.
It's all bees.
Intelligent life? It's certainly an alien concept
did the sides of phil's glasses break off?
David Bowie was an alien. I saw the documentary, "The Man Who Fell To Earth"
does anyone know when questions begin?
@versed mountain after New Products, toward the end, maybe in about 10 mins
Usually the last thing in the show
thinks back to the old saying, "If it's too good to be true..."
If we don't figure things out there will be no 'we' to say they didn't figure things out.
Last thing on the show is Trivia Question, questions before that
Circuitpython!
@clear matrix tutorial!
@spring heath Yeah!
Excellent protocol guide @proper trench
@clear matrix A super new tutorial!
@inner spade Thanks!
@clear matrix WHOO!
Also, big shoutout to @clear matrix for helping me get my first guides whipped into shape.
hug report to @clear matrix
@clear matrix
awesome guide!
@split gazelle Thank you π
@clear matrix I feel like I'll be referencing your guide while working on my stuff.
They also show this video in cotton country.
lol. "The 'S' in IoT stands for security"
That's not clouds. It's cotton candy. It's for when Lady Ada needs a little energy boost.
LadyAda speaks MQTT fluently
Adafruit cotton candy machine, powered by a CPX and Circuit Python.
and the heater is made out of neopixels
Doh! I forgot to mention that the lighting controller I showed & told tonight logs motion detection, light levels, and when it turns lights on/off to AdafruitIO using MQTT over the wifi link.
So many prints!
@round willow I am SOOO looking forward to my 3d printer arriving (late January)
@odd stream wow that's a lot!
@odd stream I may have asked you this previously, but what printer did you get?
OOOOO, I just got 3d printer certifited at my library
Prusa i3 mk3
The one that just started shipping
I've heard the Prusas are really good
This one seems pretty packed with features.
I also want to build my own, because I'm crazy like that.
30g:120g car to waste ratio. man, that's expensive...
Prusa is open source I think
Pi0 connector for running Octoprint
yeah that machine is beast. so many great features & all open source
I was just looking at what to get... They get so expensive so fast.
No idea where to start. A lot of options.
@clear matrix I picked up the Monoprice Mini V2
@river peak That was my oringinal plan... but it's a tool. I have other things I want to work on.
I got the kit so I'll get some insight.
It's so big, but it's monthly?
It's decently price. Has some issues (You'll want to do a re-wire for the bed heater), but if you're in here... you're more than capable of it.
Hackspace is working hard
I'm starting to plan a big project with it: a cookie printer.
cookie printer, wow
new new new new
@odd stream I want to build a large one. Like... I was looking for 3m length threaded rods.
My thought is that it'll be like a 3d printer with a really short preint area π
@odd stream A cookie printer would have to have a super fancy heated bed.
