@open girder I don't know if I can remember that URL. It's super difficult.
I remember the beginning. Thanks to Scotts efforts.

I'll tell the CEM story one of these days.

Yay! Viarail wifi work for live youtube.
Ok that is cool
@fervent meadow it truly is!
Wild - have a buddy here in Colorado who did that for exactly that reason
And now, we hear JP gettin funky
@analog acorn I've said it before "Just be nice" is an excellent minimum bar. You can then move up from there, going above and beyond with "be excellent, amazing, and wonderful". We wouldn't have half the problems in this world if we all did this π
π
@glossy glacier Now I'm imagining a parody song: "We all live in a broken S. E. M., a broken S. E. M., a broken S. E. M."

how do you get on the show Intel next week

That is awesome news info on the circuit python

@haughty quiver No, but I have a TR606 and TR707!
yup! its an easy type of coding

hahaha yeah. its the first language I learnt how to code in
You orginally could only run it on a computer, but micro python and circuit python allows you to use it on a microcontroller

Trying to decipher what bad word George typed
Probably three letters that spell out the title of the first three words of the book?
@dim knot LOL on the bot delete of W T F in title ;)
What is the future of education when on-demand learning outperforms traditional universities in keeping skills up to date?
From the book.
@heavy siren the problem can be knowing what to learn; knowing whatβs important. Donβt need universities for that but itβs a role they should fulfill.
... and learning how to learn.
@odd stream Precisely. A clear vision of the future requires knowledge of a distant past.
pick optimization is very handy
@open girder the algorythm i think do a preview by doing image search with given image from google,bing and then score from it and result from it
great to see inside the operation
@inner spade That is the most important skill a person can learn, IMO
I think this sketchy wifi is making me fall behind.
@fervent meadow I think a lot of cardboard cutters were purchased today on your Maker Update video recoommendation :)
Yes, @odd stream, it is now February 1, 2018
I find myself wondering how long before Iβm contemplating stenciling and baking.
@eager sapphire I thought this train ride was taking a while.
I was lagging big time when watching show & tell, and that was over a wired connection
Now it feels up-to-the-minute
@haughty quiver If it saves just one person from a box cutter wound, I'll feel like a hero. Plus, it really is a bit of magic the way it just falls through cardboard.
More John Park!
John Park is a great source of ideas - a font of digital craziness, and I mean that in a good way
LOL Iβm in Halloween + CircuitPython overdrive @fervent meadow
@haughty quiver @fervent meadow What's the link to this video? (the one with the cardboard info)
@haughty quiver the drum machine guide is great, super easy, now only if i could find more than two alligator cables
@ocean musk thanks! if you are nimble fingered you can get away w/o :)
just tap the onboard pads
im hooking it up to my keyboard
I'll try to have some video of the "spider droppers" we built at work for a haunt for next week.

my audio mic is the webcam microphone. so it makes it worse
I've got a Flashforge Creator Pro and that thing is loud so I understand
It is loud when it isnt even printing
I wonder if you could EQ out some of the high frequency printer sounds
@ocean musk I really like my Audio Technica AT2020usb mic. It's $100-150, usb, and really solid quality before going to an XLR system.
Using noise cancelling techniques, @haughty quiver ?
@dim knot we'll go over a few mins if that's cool
Oh you meant in recording, I meant in noise abatement
My recording set up is a DJI Osmo+ on a Rode microphone arm
And I use a Rode VideoMicro as my mic
The Rode PSA1 arm is top notch.
Love that mister to the huge skull.
I also have a mic-specific shockmount and foam windscreen
Some sound "gobos" can be used to absorb certain frequencies of sound/noise. I use them in my recording studio.
I've made other sizes, smaller, larger.
3x3ft, 3x4ft for bass and drums, respectively
Sweet. I was going to ask about Krack
2" thick acoustical foam is pretty solid. I use spray adhesive on the back of it, and adhere it to sheets of cardboard. I affix the cardboard to the wall with velcro 3M strips.

anyone know the part name of that controller on the skull that holds coin cell battery
Q: Do you think that it's wiser for beginners to get the PTH header Metro328 rather than the SMD header versions?
I love that skull project @hard hollow @rocky reef and Iβm ordering an ultrasonic mister now!
@hybrid orchid your choice: https://www.adafruit.com/?q=coin battery holder prob the 20mm one with on-off switch
@open girder They should be GatorPixels
Q: Arduino High Side Switching for Automotive use - I was looking at P-Channel MOSFET but wondering if you have any recommendations or advice for using purpose made devices like the ST Microelectronics Automotive High Side Switches?
Lights just went off a few times in a row, this might be it for me tonight...
@fallen rivet the smd ones are a bit more fragile, not unheard of to bend the headers by accident.
@glossy glacier my house just flickered I think
Q: Any idea what the pricing might be on the Metro M4?
Give us some RadioFruit news!

Is there someplace that 3d models are available for various boards to use for design in programs like Fusion360?
support didnt do anythng, thay daid they would contact the account manager, but they never said anythng
@paper peak thanks bud
@inner spade great idea!
@fallen rivet all new Metro 328 with headers are now through-hole. WIll be stronger.
love the name pixel kisses and hugs
Did that new I/V board have a reset button on it???
Im using the microphone amplifier to detect when I am talking, but it keeps mis-reading and saying Iβm talking when Iβm not. Any ideas?
@paper peak Yeah, was thinking that would be the guidance given that the MetroM4 seems to be PTH.
If I have two i2c chips with different addresses that also need logic level shifting, can i use the same logic level shifting circuitry for both devices?
Ok thanks! I'll check out Eagle cad
So, I guess in hindsight SMT headers were kind of a mistake.
I always worried about them.
@fallen rivet never had an issue, but even less of a chance now π
@fallen rivet i worried about them a bit, but never actually had one break, so
@haughty quiver not mine π I loved it and had the default icon so I set it as that, just joined Discord to join the Adafruit chat!
welcome @ember storm
Yeah i like the lunch box idea being sold.
The lunch boxes are great.
I'd love to eliminate hand-soldering PTH headers, but have been worried about the SMD ones.
name/quest/color pls
Any project information on that Tripple feather with measuring.

@open girder Thanks for another awesome evening of shows!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Bye!
Thanks you too @open girder!
thanks all!
no, thank you @open girder!
Thanks! Great show!
@open girder Yup, this made my train trip much more enjoyable!
No, thank YOU @stiff remnant
Also, music and LEDs... Sounds interesting.
This is awesome.
Wednesdays is my night....2x adafruit shows, followed by a really awesome show about Comic Books at 10pm eastern.
anyone have a link to the tripple feather shown on new products today.
It's a pretty solid tripler kit
great for prototyping, especially for stuff with headers meant for a breadboard.
hello
can dose anyone know of a mini gaming mother borad that i can us for a hand held
@magic flicker I'd consider the Raspberry Pi Zero
@magic flicker We all see all the same channels. Please don't post in every channel. But I agree, a Pi Zero would be a good start
but it's limited in gaming power, mostly emulators and the RPi version of minecraft
ok
@waxen thistle Yes, I picked up a doubler and a tripler a couple weeks ago. Used the doubler a bunch so far.
I'm toying around with some display ideas with the doubler....display w/ stacking headers + feather on one side, second display on the other.
and the tripler is overkill....which makes it perfect for us geeks.
That reminds me... I need to write up the CP library I wrote for the dotstar wing.
Or if youβre working on a wing and want to use a display wing for instrumentation/diagnostics.
exactly π
Hello all
@zinc nymph βevening
@magic flicker besides https://liliputing.com/, especially https://liliputing.com/tag/mini-pc, see https://linuxgizmos.com
@fervent meadow You should take a look at the Slice Box Cutter. I have the J-handle one. It seems safer than having the throwing knife configuration.
@river peak sorry i meant the project shown on ask a engineer earlier tonight " that used the trippler ".
ok thanks
@steady fox this? https://www.adafruit.com/product/3417
It's this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/3650
and I don't know which feather they used to drive it all
Catching up on Wednesday shows - @sterile mulch tee hee love those Halloween tricks!
Yay new Gemma & Trinket! My favorite boards! ππ
@open girder @proper trench I love the top secret clover shaped neopixel, I love the idea of some non-circular wearable boards and components
@lethal lagoon Cool observation! Will it be a lucky pixel when it's green, I wonder? π
@inner spade ooh that sounds like a project waiting to happen! π
Yeah. It'll be nice to have until next March to finish it!
i have a dream of designing a little trapezoidal wearable board one day, for the back of a hand, for glove projects
@lethal lagoon π
@inner spade deadlines are how projects get finished! π
@lethal lagoon Ha! Indeed!
@inner spade oh that was you! such a cute idea
i missed the shows live today and was just catching up
*missed the live shows
well add this one to the list π
I think I'm finally learning some valuable stuff from my granddaughter!
it's cool how just changing the shape of a thing gives you new ideas for what to make with it
that's the nature of inspired design, isn't it?
at least it is for me. I enjoy getting ideas from MoMA, for example.
yes, and we look forward for the Post Office to deliver their catalog, too.
same
The latest one gave me some ideas for two matched perpetual calendars, one simple "sliding sticks" design and an electronic version.
But those projects will have to wait until after March. π
we got to visit NY during the Manus x Machina exhibit, omg such amazing wearable tech in that exhibit
oh cool
clover first!
yes! Oh wait, they're not out yet...
right! shh! i don't know what you're talking about...
ok, time to go to bed and dream about it π nice chatting @inner spade see ya later!

Will this be on adafruit/live on YT or ???
yes, live on YT, FB, Twitch, Periscope
Roger that i am on the /user/adafruit/olive page
Not olive. Live.
The olive page, well, I donβt know what that is.
No. Olive. I love olives.
OnLive
Popeye loves Olive, too.
Hello World!
@haughty quiver it's adafru.it/discord
Needs more cowbell π
You could use screams and yells and boo's as well for halloween.
hi all
Rhino the spider-man villain
ABS or PLA
looks too flexible for it to be PLA
you could make touchpads to ufo
Now that's a great idea. Cheap too.
omg think touchpads what make sounds in ufo and tractor beam with sound
The overhead flouresents are reflecting off the side of the glass looking like beams.
much better
A synthetic carving pumpkin. Are we in the 21st century or what?
think that with a lazer carv
a real pumpkin naturally gets scarier over time...
will it have styrofoam peanut seeds inside?
a hot wire knife?
dremel makes a separate "multi max" tool that could work
score with knife blade then cut with saw
(sorry for the stream of comments -- did a lot of foam sculpting for theater sets)
Dremel?
you have a band-saw behind you
yeah Dremel
Or use a small hand dril with a large flat bit and wrap a piece of electrical tape on the bit to mark the depth.
I wonder how they burn
You could use a large HOT soldering iron and melt the foam. Smelly tho
And dirty your soldering iron? Sacrilege!
Actually, that looks more like polyurethane foam.
I wonder how it reacts to cyanoacrylic glue...
that could give you some nice patterns
but also smelly
@brazen grove ahhhh, nothin' a wire brush won't clean up.
there is dremel
Who else is thinking "dentist" right now? π«
well it's about rpm
Now I am. Thanks a lot. π
I was thinking dentist when he was scoring the foam with that hook
Ouch.
You can make a small hot wire knife/former with a D cell battery and short length of nichrome wire.
are those pumpkins safe for candles?
super lighting effect!
Are there any other things made of this material at the store where you got this at?
foamed PVC probably
It looks like polyurethane.
Nice show John. Very cool projects.
thanks all!
Thanks John, another great show
good job
@inner spade great point! Please don't laser things with the letter "V" in their chemical abbreaviation
Thanks for the great show John
... or C (chlorine gas = bad)
it's even bad for the laser's lenses
I'm very behind this week, but good job in the show and tell all (I only watched it last night)
@inner spade Yeah! When I was younger my family had a pool and my dad once unwittingly mixed two different types of pool chlorine (in a bucket in the kitchen sink), not nowing that they would react with each other. That basically released chlorine gas in the house.
Hey guys I have a question... I got a bt keyboard that I want to use with my pi3... when I paired it it said it had no services that can be used with the pi... anybody have an idea how to fix?
Will todayβs 3D show be via user/adafruit/live on YT or a special URL?
Yes, but sometimes the URL lists some custom path rather than user/adafruit/live
(Some custom YT path, that is)
hello, it'll be adafruit/live today π
Hang out with Noe & Pedro Ruiz and discover 3D printing! Get your 3D news, projects, design tutorials and more each week on Google+ Hangouts On Air. Subscri...
Roger that thanks Brothers Ruiz (speaking formally here)
Oh, hey guys! There's the answer! π
@hard hollow and @rocky reef test challenged in discord side
@shell mason confirmed
Thatβs a little odd that Discord would not want this chat posted to a YT stream!
there is an audio version of this livestream?
we do have a podcast that is generated after the show
adblock+ would help
The interwebs are pretty much intolerable now without AdBlock+
Filming model building is just an excellent idea
So you can pre-program the path and viewing angle with it?
@hard hollow @rocky reef now if you have project like death star
well you could have lazer cut parts and you assemble them
thanks for watching folks!
@matamble yep, you can set the degree of angle, time intervales and on playback duration. here's the pan head thingie https://www.amazon.com/Genie-Bundle-Cable-Select-Cameras/dp/B01N6RNWCQ/
@eager sapphire ^
is gonna be impatient for that invite code for show and tell hahaha
Thanks @hard hollow
Im hopinh my buddy can get in. but he's having to get dreseed up all fancy for it lol
so he may or may not make it. I know @open girder would be really impressed with his thing-a-ma-bob

Secure that pumpkin!
Candy? or More Candy? -- seems like a question I ask myself all the time.
Hey jp you should use some invisible string with the saucer, I know can get some at the magic apple
Should maybe add sound to lights. All the lights in stranger things make noise when they turn on or off.
Default to MORE, I think
@lean grail Needs liquid nitrogen.
@green burrow that's a great idea, thanks! I'll go check it out . Especially since Brent got the AC upgraded there :)

@haughty quiver I feel like that UFO would be a PERFECT thing to modify into a drone
@feral patrol A "brilliant" implementation! Excellent!
@split gazelle Thanks, yeah, its a fun suit to wear. I like cosplay and being able to interact with lights directly and letting others to interact too is fun.

have you ever seen the sweet drone project @hard hollow and @rocky reef built?
Some one make me a UFO and I'll string it to my Mavic!!!!
I'd love to hang this little ufo from a drone :)
got my win 10 1709 update it has make code as an app there works really easy will be great for kids!
@haughty quiver I could! if i made the UFO!!!
@harsh bone Thanks! Me too, I'm super pumped
I could have @hard hollow and @rocky reef hang my UFO from their UFO drone and it would be like an intergalactic tow truck.
If you guys are curious on how I made my light suit, here's a video explaining it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpaN6D5UQfg
A walk around of my led suit that I wear under my fursuit. This may answer some of your questions. But if you have anymore, please leave a comment. Links to ...
@haughty quiver Still amuzed at the B flick quality of the UFO project. The visible string reminds me of gen-1 special effects!
@inner spade thanks, It made me laugh, too
@vernal mulch You talking about my suit?
Back in High School, we did a "future" history class video project -- do a newscast from the far future. I suspended a TNG Romulan Warbird (model kit) with fishing line from a broomstick π
@open girder Maybe things are just getting out of hand?
Am I allowed to post Software projects in this chat?
I'd like to see a whole series with the Adafruit puppets
Wouldn't it be great if the CP was on a nationally broadcasted children's cartoon?
Thats cool
Sorry Wrong discord
@feral patrol you put a huge smile on my face the whole time you were on show + tell! Great project, too!!
yay @clear matrix !
yaaaay @clear matrix !
Woo @clear matrix !
yer famous!
@feral patrol - Like many others said - You put a massive smile on my face π
Yeah! Thank you!! π
go @clear matrix ! love how you got the eighth note in there with the modifier key :)
love the UFO sounds @haughty quiver and @clear matrix
@dawn jacinth i was hoping he'd get his camera working. And i TOTALLY didnt geek out when he came back with his working camera feed
@haughty quiver Thank you! That came out of a suggestion from Scott!
Erin has WAY too much fun with her videos π
@haughty quiver Thanks!
I spy metro m4
thanks @rapid hornet turns out that if you give play_tone very low numbers the sounds get very nice and glitchy!
@lean grail I just saw the tail end of the Show and tell. π
oooooooh shiney new
But yeah
Excellent guide @clear matrix !
Next time, I have a 4' x 16' (6 x 24) pixel LED wall to show off. I was hoping my usb hub would run my camera, but noooo.
and excellent use of the key lime pun @clear matrix
@haughty quiver It was too perfect. I said it out loud and realised I had to do it.
its arduino compatible but not arduino official
ah ok
It's like a Uno but with a SAMD51
It's using the Cortex M4 board. Like the M0 boards, but better
Nice π
Question - Can MQTT be used for UDP and TCP networking?
Only here can you find people arguing over the best mqtt function
Nice side-support conveyor
Thanks @open girder π
I love that it's Twin Peaks themed and so tiny
^
On a scale of 1-10, how much am I missing out, having never seen Twin Peaks?
@waxen thistle 8.2
I really liked TwinPeaks
@waxen thistle 11
@gaunt plume has this dialed in to a great level of precision.

@haughty quiver I've been studying for midterms this week (taking a brief break to catch up with adafruit newz), my numbering systems are SUPER good rn lol
and @split gazelle has us recalibrating our measurement π
the LED programming for that pinball animation, at the time, must be insane
oh w8, limor said that already lol
new new new
@gaunt plume I think that all the time when I play old pinball tables. the programming! how!?!
Big Clive did a private-for-patrons TI episode that dealt with pinball display drivers....
If you guys wanna see a suit commission I did this year. Here is Gem Raptor. Took nearly a year to do, draws 24 amps if I let it, and has 533 leds. http://www.made2glow.com/gemraptor01.jpg
very cool, @feral patrol
That is awesome
YAY, dano's kit! (i have a super early revision of it on my desk rn)
I LOVE GEMRAPTOR TOOOOOOOO
@feral patrol 24 amps!?
I love the edge lighting on the feathers @feral patrol
That's an absurd amount of power
@haughty quiver Ya, those are 2mm Fiber, driven by APA106 5mm leds.
Adafruit Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE with Stacking Headers - Assembled https://www.adafruit.com/product/3242
Humble Velocipede Ligaments Kit https://www.adafruit.com/product/3652
I'm definitely interested in how you provide that sort of power
@river peak MAGIC OF COURSE!!!!!
@river peak ya. if I 'let' it. lol. I built it to handle 40amps max. (2 20amp dc to dc supplies)
Adafruit INA219 FeatherWing https://www.adafruit.com/product/3650
The INA219 FeatherWing makes power-monitoring problems a thing of the past. Instead of struggling with two multimeters, you can just use the handy INA219B chip on this breakout to both ...
@feral patrol mblade is the fiber sanded to emit light along the length of it? or is this just a normal behavior for fiber?
@river peak And 3 3000mAh 6.6v Lifepo4 batteries. But when I was done coding, the most it draws is like 4.5 amps. But if it was to flash all white, 24 amps! lol
Adafruit PT1000 RTD Temperature Sensor Amplifier - MAX31865 https://www.adafruit.com/product/3648
@haughty quiver Its side emmiting, no sanding.
Shame we can't 'reply' to comments like in Telegram.
I agree mBlade
or slack
Nice!!
ooooooh
A display with MOAR PIXELS!
Adafruit TFT FeatherWing - 3.5" 480x320 Touchscreen for Feathers https://www.adafruit.com/product/3651
oh, I like that TFTWing
I really like the 2.4" ones we have already, can't wait to try out this bigger one.
I was using a ESP8266 with a super-optimized ILI9341 library. That was ABSURDLY fast.
I thought I saw something like that on hackaday not too long ago
zerophone or somesuch
I really want an esp32
@toxic spade Got a link?
Pefect for a Weather station...
Subscribe to hear project updates and be notified when crowdfunding goes live!What is this?This is a smartphone, with a Raspberry Pi Zero at its heart. It's open-source*, Linux-powered and you can make one yourself for 50$!
*except some parts, replacing which would make it crazy expensiveWhy?Because it has so many uses, the idea sems to be obvious and yet there isn't a project like that. Moreover, I've been studying the topic for a couple of years now and this project is meant to be useful to other people as well - so I have a chance of commercializing it (while still keeping it open-source).
What can it be used for?
Calling and SMS - this is the first functionality to be implemented, and will be considered crucial in the development.
All the basic apps - alarm clock, calendar, calculator, phonebook, file browser, web browser and music player.
Your own apps - SDK will be provided and it will be developer-friendly. The laand I'll personally expect, if not at least aid with, social media apps - for a good start, since those are the apps people spend most time in.
Running Linux software - since it's a computer after all, you can run ARM
Oh nice
I wonder if gif's work here.. http://www.made2glow.com/gemraptor.gif
shoutout to @open girder for the 0xDEADBEEF callout on that display for testing π
I also want to take this opportunity to broadcast the greatest project on hackaday: cat-based mesh networks: https://hackaday.io/project/9667-cat-exploit
Cat Exploit is a project focussed on creating an independent and free WiFi network using cats (so-called Server Entities) and related species carrying a minified version of a wardriving-server. While roaming through streets and backyards of the urban area, they tap into open and badly secured WiFi networks in order to repeat and spread the signal through nearby Server Entities for everyone.
The range of usage is indeed very broad and depends on the "needs" of the users, reaching from general parasitic and almost restriction-free internet access to abusive and criminal driven activities.
Generally speaking, Cat Exploit takes place in a legal grey zone, though facing and criticizing outdated laws like the punishment of hotspot owners for usersβ copyright violations. Moreover it is demonstrating and exploiting these weaknesses.
YES!
lol... CATS
Mesh networks are awesome in general
@feral patrol just send the gif as an attachment i believe
Secret stuff? Like radio fruit π
@toxic spade saved for future reading !
I help occasionally π
m4 wew!
(chanting) M4, M4, M4!
150mhz processor....I remember desktop computers that weren't that fast.
I may not need to learn FPGAs after all...
@waxen thistle I remember the days I had a turbo button!
Well, thereβs still a huge performance gap, but still, this is pretty awesome
FPGAβs with DSP primitives are beasts at high rates
I reordered my fpga feather π
@glossy glacier You SHOULD learn 'em though
Sounds like a tegra K1 or X1
fpgas are neatto
FPGA feather????
Did I miss a new product??
@eager sapphire yeah, just a low priority thing for dean and I
Game thing?
@gaunt plume I should, and I will, but I am kinda time limited right now...
Q: Any chance of there being a METRO ESP32 Express? I want an R3 form-factor + Wi-Fi -or-BLE + ESP32 + *Python for a (much) better price than all-Atmel sol'n. I suppose a METRO M4 + ESP would be OK.
what game thing?
Publish or Subscribe?
Is the trellis ok to be ran on 3v
@glossy glacier I know that feeling VERY well right now lol
How do I become a helper?
Q; Can mBlade and I and a few others have a fursuit takeover on show and tell one week?
@fiery coyote hang out in here and help folks π
I was expecting a David S Pumpkins-style, "Any questions???"
I've learned the ESP32 quite a bit... How can I help w/ the CP port?
curious what the ESP32 doesn't do...
@lean grail Fur and Tell.
@pallid bluff USB
Which FPGA is your baseline, @rapid hornet ?
π
@river peak YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
@vernal mulch are you talking a piezo?
@vernal mulch take a look at this: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-arduino-lesson-10-making-sounds/overview
@eager sapphire the ice40up5k
@rapid hornet: ESP32 + EFM8UB1 might be a nice combo. I've done a custom board with that, and the EFM8UB1 can be an arbitrary USB device
Q: Coulomb counting for USB battery packs. Is an INA219 and polling a few times a second my best bet?
@pallid bluff I think it'd be hard for us to move out of the samd line
@vernal mulch if you're talking about a piezo, usually fixed. send it a higher signal
Done...
WOOOOO! totally wanna make fur and tell one week!!!!
What is the IDE you prefer for development/porting?
Is there a way to do normal bluetooth with the bluetooth le?
Fur and Tell! Yay!
Free-range, organic, open-source furries.
Eclipse..
@open girder Q: Do you have any plans on getting through hole DotStars?
Used Eclipse for years. Good to know. Thanks.
Sometimes I use old fashioned notepad...
@vernal mulch to make you a bit scared against putting your piezo up to higher voltages.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G16BPb2PKw
Follow up to the earlier vid. My 1000v MOS-FETs arrived. This is the result.
Question - I am building a game console using the UP Board. While I am wating I am building a basic game using Unity3D. I want to show both the console and the game off one day. How do I get on the Show and Tell?
@harsh bone and @pallid bluff if you want to help with esp32 circuitpython let me know
@rapid hornet For sure...
@vernal mulch MD?
Any plans for any ESP32 WROVER boards? Preferrably with 2.54mm pin pitch π
That's a beast of a giveaway π
@rapid hornet: will do.. i have some experience with micropython on the esp32, but who knows how much time I'll have for other random projects...
Wonder how good her memory is?.. I won before π
stupid slow phone....
He is very lucky since they are out of stock π
Does anyone have the link to the G+ group?
@rapid hornet: maybe this weekend I will poke around to see what the state of things are
@open girder, so on a serious note can mBlade and I actually have a fur and tell one night instead of show and tell? We have enough of us that do electronics involving fursuits in some way that we could will the room
@pallid bluff Keep me in the loop to.. LIke to ptich in... Over in the CP Discord chanel
machine unlearning that would be a great show
i was making my halloween costume the whole time
π
@pallid bluff great! a bunch of us are in #circuitpython-dev all week so we'll see you there
@open girder Thanks for another evening of awesome shows!
Good show guys. Make a great evening. ><>

thanks for the break, back to werk!
@rapid hornet has anyone interfaced circuitpyth with desktop python ui frameworks yet?
not that I know of @gaunt plume
hmmm, i kinda want to do it but I'm not sure if it's the best solution for what I'm working on
@rapid hornet Got it. π
yay @boreal holly
One day we will gave Fur and Tell!!!! we will consume Show and Tell for a night!!!!
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
I mean what????
@hard hollow & @rocky reef If filament absorbs too much moisture, it gets difficult, if not impossible to print with. I get that. But does it affect the processed (heated/extruded) filament as far as strength?
If you are able to get it to print, of course.
Those new 3.5" feather displays went fast!
@boreal holly maybe this will help, while Noe and Pedro get back to you. see: https://3dprinterchat.com/2016/12/how-moist-filaments-will-screw-up-your-3d-printing/
@odd stream Yeah, I checked during the broadcast, and they were OOS.
Same
It might be small for what I have in mind. Which is a LARS interface panel for my smarthome.
Maybe a 7" hdmi with a Pi0 behind it
Speaking of panels... I do have an arduino shirld TFT/touch screen that I want to try out on the Metro M4.
It shoudl fly on that. It's on a Mega 2560 at the moment

you have two hours to get your cat off your keyboard
@boreal holly I imagine that'd be the case since moisture would cause under extrusion and gaps in between the layers.
@haughty quiver is live starting soon? its 1pm eastern
@ocean musk could be could be
... testing
I didnt study yet!
@haughty quiver You passed with flying colors.
ok, on in a few minutes!
I'm watching the Pope talking to the ISS.
Via radio or other means? π
Not sure. It seems to be re-routed through Kennedy Space Center.
JP showing up on the user/adafruit/live YT URL
there was a accident where military truck and railbus collided 4 died and several injured
how we looking
Yay, @haughty quiver is live! And audio is good!
Looking good here JP
very cool candy corn. nicely done. What flavor is candy corn anyway?
@inner spade delicous
@ocean musk lol I was thinking corn syrup, pehaps?
im thinking you could make a custom firmware uf2 file and rename the drive something else
You can also use Peltier cells to generate power.
well you can have a tubepipe so with touchscreen user select the chilled drink and it comes via pump to the glass
flip a switch in the winter for cocoa
pump the liquid through a copper tube coiled up on the cooler
do you have any of that gel that you put between a CPU and a heatsink?
yeah thermal paste
3m thermal tape would work, and Adafruit sells it, albeit in small chunks
this is one way as build a PC and Chilled Drink bot in one body
well if you spill you get a #sparky pin
if @haughty quiver could get a keg so make a chilled drinks
you could have started your own cold stone creamery! That's more than enough justification to me π
the image what i posted is kegputer but think keg
one what @haughty quiver could do is add heatsink for mosfet as a additional heatsink
I like the idea @haughty quiver , but it's cold up here so an H-bridge will be needed for switching to cocoa days.
line 30 should be "pump.value" not "pumping.value"
@alpine notch John's not paying attention. π€
yeah but he still got it figured out π
That he did.
John need more cameras
What is this βmooβ John speaks of?
@hollow oasis I'm not sure. I was wodnering that too
Some great ideas, JP.
^^ that
Might consider recycling a stainless thermos.
it's a text editor
aluminum or copper fins up through the liquid container attached to the bottom could help cool it faster too
thanks for the project JP!
thanks so much everone! great ideas and suggestions, I appreciate it!
Thanks @haughty quiver ! Looking forward to the enclosure build.
Thanks John - maybe a few more projects on switching higher current devices (while protecting the fingers, of course!)
great, thanks @inner spade me too ;)
I guess 60W through a MOSFET is going to make it a bit WARM
At some point, I gotta wonder if a latching relay is a cheaper/more efficient solution to switching hi-wattage devices
Only consumes power when switching, momentarily
@eager sapphire That's what I was thinking.
I thought John's project looked familiar, so I went back through a few recent YouTube videos, and found this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvtm7dFGl_4
Subscribe to my channel for more awesome projects: https://www.youtube.com/user/RcLifeOnSimon By using three powerful 100W peltier (thermoelectric cooler) mo...
@eager sapphire yeah, but remember that a MOSFET's forward resistance would probably equate to a couple of watts with this kind of load. Hot enough for a heat sink, perhaps.
@lavish patrol that looks great, I'll check it out
TFW you wonder why there is no Ask An Engineer, and then realize it's only Tuesday :/
3D Hangouts - 11am ET Wednesdays
Show & Tell (YT only) - 7:30pm ET Wednesdays
Ask an Engineer - 8pm ET Wednesdays
Desk of Ladyada - Random hacker times
John Park's Workshop - 4pm EST Thursdays
Desk of Tony D - Evenings PST Fridays
?Showtimes
Ok, Noe and Pedro at 10 in the morning tomorrow. Must not forget to remember not to forget!
if only they were on at 6:30 ET right before Show and Tell
and then, if they had Tony D on at 5pm right after John Parks at 4pm on Thursdays, well, wow wee!
the Wednesday Trifecta with 3D to S&T to AanE then a Hardware to Software duo on Thursdays.
Best way to make sure you don't miss a show is to subscribe via YouTube
I am, an my phone beeps but I don't have it with me 99% of the time.
And they work. But I tend to miss them.
Nope my phone is only on Prior to 6-8am and after 6-11pm phone is on.
Usually do not make it home in time for the shows these days.
2 hours to work and 2 hours back.
I wonder how much data would be used streaming a show.
@steady fox OUCH, now that's what I call a commute.
On a phone i mean
Yeah i dont drive any more.
I was hit by a car while on my bicycle.
multiple spinal issues and pain 24/7/365 because of it.
Woooo, so sorry. Can't work from home?
along with the wonderful partial paralysis that it also came with.
Nope.
Secure work area.
Pain sucks. I hear ya. RA in hands is never ending either.
Still, 2 hours??
Each way?
Yeah bus 1 hour into town then 1 hour to the site.
Every day?
yeah
except for pain days.
which for last 4 weeks has been about once a week.
I did not realize the time it would take and pain when i signed the contract.
Still they pay well so ...
My RA has its moments. Even a mouse is too hard to operate.
yeah on bad days spend most of time in bed trying to rest through the pain.
Gotta do what ya gotta do I suppose. Stand strong friend.
Thanks
Yeah funny thing is i turned down another job that was closer to take this one.
I find it much better to take a job that will be challenging and interesting.
The better road is normaly the harder one to travel.
@steady fox It looks like SD quality video (480p) is average 500MB/hour. That's an average from four different sites, the actual numbers ranged from 250-700MB/hr.
No problem.
I wonder if it would be truncated for mobile phone viewing.
Definitely worth testing at some point before settling on a data plan, but at least it's a place to start.
Could be, some mobile stuff is throttled.
Yeah dam ISP's
They "throttle" everything that is not their stream these days.
lol
f'n is not a swear word dyno bot.
is A hole a swear
guess not dyno bot did not like the A and Hole together. hahaha
@clear matrix Hey! I used your cpx class today to access the accel. Cater pointed me to your code.
Works great. Thanks eh?
There definitely are. π
Then again they could probably teach us a thing or two on swearing and slang used today.
Who loaded the bots in here.
like that idea.
Actually, todays kids don't swear. But they do have their own slang. Have learned alot from my three.
Anyone know what language Dyno Bot was programmed in?
Is it a plugin to this app.
Cool bot
it can play music as well
