its back
We’ll keep an eye on Lars while you crawl around under the bench.
Lol
not datcord, discord
Lars is getting closer to the sheriff again.
lars n say
New New New New ...
Lars says the darndest things
Lars see the thing
Lars is migrating...
Lars is danger
lars is building clones
Lars is many, Lars is one
I tried ordering a reverse TFT feather last night and it went immediately out of stock DX
We are all Lars... 😮
ahahaha
does circuitpython have the pathlib module?
If I saw this scene with Lars I’d just be done
nope. we gotta parse paths as strings in CirPy
ok, so can't just glob
what the lars say
Sadly I must wait to order more ToT
Same
Lol
Ohh, that’s clever! I hate twist ties in packaging
Lars doesn’t need additional weapons!
that's brilliant, great city sound
Haha
that is so awesome @haughty quiver !
Needs a [Thick Brooklyn accent] "Hey I'm walkin' over here!"
No, he doesn't need them...
Ice cream truck complete with Doppler effect!
How about "Are you talkin' to me?"
the walking indicator for them does
The Fonz going “eyyyy”
This is a new concept to me
additional help for the hard of sight
Makes sense!
Not sure if it’s not a thing here or I just didn’t notice…
I like the idea of hiding the USB connector. Maybe stuff it with LiPo batteries so it’ll run for months on a charge, lol
Volume is hard
Added FoamyGuy, Liz, and Noe
What was the TPS board again?
Ah
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to using enable on the boost vs. cutting power to the boost?
I feel like at this point it probably just needs a PCB.
I’d imagine making a custom PCB for this wouldn’t be insanely difficult
Hardest part being the buttons
andy could do fully lars edition
I have many pictures...
What sound does Lars make?
Any idea what the quiescent current is for that boost? Guessing probably minuscule
Sequel learn guide?
He sounds like Peter Lorre...
Basic and then advanced!
You'd have to ensure anything to the outside of the enclosure is child proof.
Word of the Day: FlippyClip.
I found quiescent current in the data sheet for the boost chip, but I’m confused… is there different values if something is on VOUT vs just VIN connected?
Mmmm. Icecream.
Off by 1 Ice Cream Truck Error
The MCU is doing everything aside from amplification, right?
Ice cream not found. Press any key to continue.
Lol, buttons are 0 indexed, files are 1 indexed
Would it be possible to have it play only while a button is being held and stop when released?
could the i in the icecream filename get confused by for i loop?
for icecream in cone()
Computers are weird
Maybe put a print before the list prints?
Cursed blobs
Hiding the goodness
I've seen that happen before. I wasn't able to work out a solution. 🤔
Is that sorted() function the issue?
Bizzare.
i've never seen that happen, weird
Lol, yay!
aggressive caching
An excellent project. Not done until the Kapton tape is applied.
it didn't even print out the foo either
I made a battery pack all pretty with Kapton tape
Noice.
are there 2 boards connected to the PC? are you saying this normally happens sometimes Kyoshii? because i've never run into it. what board are you using when you run into it?
I need to get fresh cells and make high power high capacity caps
Thanks @haughty quiver
Thanks!
Great Workshop, @haughty quiver 👍
I haven’t run into it, was just a hunch XD I had issues with Arduino ages ago where a few first serial characters would get lost, so I’d put filler
thanks!
Thanks JP
haha
Its not showing on the screen
🌲
hmm actually i have seen that happen but only when using byte array and the array gets truncated
usually at the end though, not the beginning.
Have a good day.
thanks so much all

Mhmm
👋
👋
Very interested in seeing your approach. I did something similar for the PyBadge, PyPortals, and TFT FeatherWing, creating some classes for buttons/controllers, sounds, and displays. Would love to see the result as part of the standard library distribution.
board_id is the board ID, which is the unique name of the board directory
and id on cp.org
is pycharm closing the file window if the board goes away ?
no scratch recovery file ?
Hola from 'rado. 😄
hi ya'll from youtube to discord
Hi Tim and all present. Just arrived home. Happy Friday to y'all
Good evening ☕
Device Agnostic Game Controls sounds perfect.
having all the bitmap tools for displayio in blinka is a big deal. 👍
Thanks 🙂
Computer seems to have locked up
Don't think I can return. So I'll call it for now. Thanks everyone. Have a good night all.
I think the USB device resetting a bunch sometimes wigs out my PC 😦
I failed to get bootloader a bunch of times and that locked it up. I think if I slow down in between retries it might help it
Good night. See you tmw
Getting started for the morning, picking up with the game controls where I left on last night. Follow along on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zT3txK-WgkU or Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/foamyguy_twitch
Hey Tim!
Good Morning
Hi Tim , Jonny and José
hello. nice evening to code. 🇸🇪
good morning ☕
Hello Paulsk and all
🇸🇪
Good morning!
Who are the folks above Scott and below PT? I don't recognize them
Yup, Erin
Erin St Blaine, the neopixel mermaid
does a Google
Also has an amazing WLED mesh-wifi jellyfish project worth checking out
yeah she specializes in aesthetically beautiful projects for harsh environments
once again wonders how long I can hold my breath
i wanted to put Anne in there too but there are more characters than there were spaces, it is a flip book see and say, could probably fill out the 2nd page too with tekktrik and others
Hehe
holding breath
Just over a minute without trying hard DX
But man that mermaid tail is cool
I'd rather have a print statement that says "Button does not exist for this device"
I always encounter "Bus in use" errors which are actually very helpful to let me know I'm doing something wrong.
Include a list of available buttons in the error message — or the way to find them.
That's a good idea too. Let it trigger something like a dir(board) automatically.
That might actually be helpful for CP to do that if you name a pin wrong. Like if you try to use D10 on a Pico with GP10 naming scheme.
Yes that's what I meant. I think that would be helpful to add to CP core to have it print out dir(board) if it detects that module attribute error.
like a helper because a beginner isn't going to know what the heck that error means.
though i also understand the capacity crunch the developers are constantly under, like Atlas trying to lift the world with no overhead.
yeah lol developers are like ohh a new bigger board and more RAM. let's add more frozen modules.... aaaaaaand it's all gone.
how will you deal with joysticks x,y coordinates. some game controllers have multiple joysticks too. joy_x1, joy_y1?
I mean naming them because i didn't see a naming convention in the dict for joysticks
The use of super() may be slightly different than CPython - last I remember the use of self with it when working with CPY builtins, I think I ran into something when multi-subclassing
But it was only for builtins, worked as expected with non-builtins
Not sure if that's changed since
I’ve converted joystick positions into up/down/left/right button values.
Ran into some limitations subbing list. Not all dunders were available. Don’t know if dict has the same issue.
current progress on the tr-cowbell enclosure. will have a flat faceplate to mount stuff.
2"x6", thinking that might not be big enough if someone wants to put on a larger display.
Could the collar flare out and project over the rear of the enclosure?
To accommodate a large display?
off the backend perhaps, could also make it taller with a steeper angle to increase the size.
FoamyGuy what's the largest size display you might want to put on there?
The TFT featherwing is 2.5"x3", that's the biggest one I have, so maybe I'll try for 3"
i should have thought about this before i started printing parts lol
Titano seems to be about the same size as the TFT featherwing. I think that's about as large as anyone would normally use. These files are going to be shared on github eventually so want to make something that someone can just print without needing modification.
The seesaw uses I2C address 0x49
other devices uses 0x49 https://learn.adafruit.com/i2c-addresses/the-list#0x49-3119931
There's only 1 device that's hard coded with 0x49 a light sensor, all others have changeable addressing.
This display feels like a good max size and is similar to the proportions of the cowbell case. https://www.adafruit.com/product/5394
This lovely little display breakout is the best way to add a small, colorful, and very bright display to any project. Since the display uses 4-wire SPI to communicate and has its own ...
Bigger displays can introduce bigger delays, too.
(Just spent an inordinate amount of time with every Adafruit TFT display for the VCO module project.)
ok why? you can't just spit that out there without explaining why you would do that to yourself.
that would be evil lol. aaaand start... why is my board resetting?
almost as bad as having a keyboard with a help button that does nothing
Was looking for the maximum size/resolution display for a narrow rack module. Was a balancing act of available PCB real estate and design proportions. And of course I only wanted a circle to show, so the orientation and margins were tricky.
they make round i2c displays now
i don't think they come in many different sizes though
Yeah, but didn’t want to mess with writing drivers. Finally settled on the 1.54-inch; very close to a square.
good display, has sd card and eyespi unless you're talking about using the barebones display
well that's getting really fancy
looks fantastic. i don't know anything about eurorack stuff.
Adafruit just updated their .96" display, low cost spi display
Eurorack is pretty handy ‘cause of the built-in power supplies and standard formats/interconnects. Can get pretty spendy, so I prefer to make my own modules.
are those vector fonts? that's sick.
looks like it's setting the pixels manually by row and flipping pixels
If the result is a bitmap, should be possible to convert to a font, as well.
yeah looks like some type of pixelbuf manipulation, very cool.
nice, good contribution. i just saw someone string like 10 of them together to show unix time counting up. think it was micropython but a cool use case.
Thanks for the stream!
Thank you for the stream.
Thank you!
Please keep working on the gamepad button naming stuff, i think that'll come in handy and it's a good idea.
Just watching the baby Einstein tear down. We have adapted hundreds of those for AT switches. Just add a 3.5mm jack in parallel with the single switch and kiddos without effective use of hands and fingers can use them. Maybe @proper trench can show how to add on in a future episode 🙂
If you make a replacement board could you add pins/card edge/jst connectors for the switches?
Maybe a question for "Ask en Eng." tonight:
Is a Pi CowBell AirLift possible (and desirable). Also does the smallest ESP32 fit on a pico size board?
My usecase is not really wifi as that is possible with PicoW, but maybe BLE (not possible yet) and even more interesting for me is the BluePad32 that permit the connection of all kind of bluetooth joystick.
Pico + Feather doubler: https://www.tindie.com/products/arturo182/raspberry-pi-pico-adapter-for-keyboard-featherwing/
yeah the ESP32 pico mini module (aptly named) would fit
Ho, I have that at home. Unsoldered.
(the one on the ESP32 feather V2)
I have the AirLift FeatherWing too... so I could at least prototype that. It is an answer to the #CircuitPython2023 that wanted PS4 joystick support in CircuitPython for the PicoW.
actually the itsy bitsy airlift is thinner that a raspi pico
so not stackable but small enough
is there z shapped pins, like 2 right angles to add or remove one row of width ?
I have not followed all the Pi CowBell that LadyAda has already done or had plan to do...
Z shapped pin... not sure, and to manually do it it will take a lot of patience. Need to check what pin from the AirLift itsy bitsy are in use, and if they match something usefull on the Pico(W).
note, it's probably best to not stack radio antennas, but put them side by side

Evening 👋
Good evening.
hello~
👋
Ladyada, did you happen to see the TFT BFF I shared on Mastodon? Not sure if you see those things? Shared under oakdevtech
Hiiiii
I gotta order the PCB and any parts I don’t have on hand. But 0.96” TFT on a qt py sounded fun 🙂
I’ve considered hacking my kids toys
Baby Shark do do do do do do
Soldering do do do do do
Adafruit/hacker versions of all the things, lol
Disney buys everything
Cool BFF Skerr. I did see that one.
netflix's trash truck is good
And the bottom which I don’t have a picture of on my phone lol
I hear BabyAda :D
Baby Einstein is extremely popular for new parents. Just wait until you get into Sesame Street on repeat to the point your new favorite jams will all be kids songs lol.
Bluey songs are my current jam
yah, bluey is rad
our kid has a kicky piano, so we are going to replace the songs with elton john songs soon
I’m sad we don’t get all the bluey episodeS
I don't have kids, but I started watching Bluey and it's just plain good
the muppet show was made for adults to watch with their kids, a lot of kids shows are like that, they're excellent
Does adafruit carry the button pills or a cap touch breakout for those kinds of buttons. Could be helpful for PCB designers to have a breakout to learn that segment of electronic design.
little einsteins are good too, they start with "here's the art" and "here's the music" when they start
ESP32 sounds like a good idea
You could do wireless with file glyder or wifi workflow these days.
The C3FH4 has onboard flash as well. No external flash needed
Actually, what about maybe an SD slot in the battery compartment? Since the baby wouldn't be in that part anyway
cool project, looking forward to seeing that one progress
how about a C3, but only turn wifi on if you stick a magnet in a certain place, with a thing inside that knows it through the case ?
like a hall effect switch
interesting idea
@open girder question with the toy hack… is there enough room to put a small PIR sensor under the part the lLEDS blink…, Have a motion activated tune ?
also working on a chatgpt teddy bear, but not ready to talk about that yet 🙂
@echo canopy good idea, will ask limor after this segement
i love that chip for the I2S breakout module. it's a great one. anytime i do audio i reach for one of those adafruit breakouts first.
What is I2S anyway?
serial audio. i think of it as "I2C for Sound" so I2S.
ahh
the protocol was specifically designed for sound
i've played with different audio out methods in circuit python. pwmout does work but it's glitchy. I2S is really the only way to get reliably quality sound.
having I2C built into the I2S chip means digital volume control, mute, etc.. not all I2S chips come with that so they're extra features that are nice to have.
5 band EQ ohhhh. that'll make audio react FFT projects possible. Ummm heck yes. 👍
AdaToys? A line of Adafruit baby/kid toys that are all open source and hackable?
If parents could customize sounds with drag & drop to an SD card I think that would be easiest and most probable method.
Bumping
Being run by smart people also helps compared to the big companies
Adafruit Mastodon instance?

Question: if the microcontroller get more faster and more RAM, will it be possible to run linux?
I meant are you going to run an Adafruit server for Mastodon for others to join?
Thanks @open girder and good night. 🌔
Nini! Good show!
Thanks! Good night!
Wouldn't it be an SBC at that point instead of a microcontroller though
at what point does a microcontroller turn into an SBC?
awesome show! TY! 🐥 🛁
I also want to know that...
lines are already becoming blurred https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcontroller
it's an SBC if you feel in your heart that it's an SBC
the true SBC was the friends we made along the way
i think we're going to look at back at non-internet connected vintage PC's as word processors.
seems the delineation today is "does it have a web browser"
but you can surf the internet with get requests and web scraping alone so i'm not even sure if that holds true either.
$6 PicoW is a prety capable internet device
and it plays doom
And it can be a web server
Powered by Restream https://restream.io
Javascript example
The YouTube.be share link doesn’t actually embed it on my tablet.
Same on my phone
just checked on my PC and it shows up as embedded and works fine. doesn't work that way on my tablet. forces me to open youtube's app.
Apps are weird
so i'm forced to flip flop back and forth between youtube and discord if i want to chat. it pauses the live stream in youtube if discord is open. so to watch again i have to unpause the stream and scrub to the end to get back to a real time live stream.
Oof… I forgot about that, I’m spoiled with Premium and can play in the background
Yeah, Premium is their subscription. No ads, background play, and YouTube Music
I mean it should be a standard feature for sure, I think it is in the twitch app ?
It should be, but YouTube wants all the muns
Android can do picture on picture for YouTube
iPhone users suffer
hmm didn't think about trying the twitch app
Yeah it does picture in picture with the twitch app
Good guy Twitch
This is much better, thank you.
oh on a related note somebody wanted to scroll text on the matrix, so I hacked a FrameBuffer for it yesterday (not pixelbuf)
https://gist.github.com/Neradoc/70764175a20d6c274833ea0cccf26fcb
I don't know if there was another solution
I think the LED glasses were designed to use the NRF52840 driver board. Maybe there was something specific at that time that needed it?
the glasses class uses the C module that is only available on the driver board
does it have current sensing in milliamps perhaps?
i could see needing to keep an eye on the current draw as a helpful thing for a face full of electronics project.
yes i linked to the driver board product above
i imagine you should be able to use it with other MCU's but again originally i think it was designed to be used with that specific driver board when it was initially released.
that's the module I linked in the support matrix above
i got 2 of them during one of JP's pick of the week. cheaper way to score an NRF52840 for BLE projects. didn't get the glasses only the driver board for it. figured i could use it for something else someday.
I don't know what it does, that library is mysterious 🤷
dunno if you saw, but yesterday somebody wanted to scroll text on the matrix, so I hacked a FrameBuffer for it (quite slow)
https://gist.github.com/Neradoc/70764175a20d6c274833ea0cccf26fcb
looked up IS31FL3741 on digikey, it's just a PWM LED driver chip.
yep, with many pins
looks like it's used with most charlieplexed projects, basically a charlieplex driver.
IS31FL3741 and IS31FL3731 are used by Adafruit
too many different APIs, let's invent a new standard !
that meme is true though
yes
RAINBOW is a list of tuples
but it shouldn't use rainbow
t[0]<<16 + t[1]<<8 + t[2]
for hex to tuple I do:
t = tuple((color).to_bytes(3, "big"))
converts an int into 3 bytes
and the opposite is, but it assumes ints
color = int.from_bytes(bytes(t), "big")
Why is something looking for a literal string ‘circuit python’ seems odd.
there's a displayio text scroller for the LED glasses that relies on the built-in module. The built-in module seems to be only shared-module, no nrf-port-specific code, so presumably it could be enabled for other ports with enough space to allow displayio on the single 13x9.
that sets each LED individually
it sets a red LED or a blue LED, etc.
in my framebuffer implementation I do convert pixel position to LED, with a mapping:
https://gist.github.com/Neradoc/70764175a20d6c274833ea0cccf26fcb#file-is31matrixqt_framebuf-py
Adafruit_RGBMatrixQT.pixel_addrs(x,y) gives you the individual LED numbers of pixel (x,y)
I'm not sure what the missing link is for full-on displayio, I'm not familiar with all the matrix and framebuffer code
yeah it's a mess, I think we need to look at all those APIs
Hi, I missed the beginning, but I have contributed to that library a little bit... (I believe).
Maybe to add support for Pimoroni board.
Maybe also for the LED SHIM from Pimoroni... and I was ask to make a buffer something.
And I did not knew how to. It is a 28 RGB LED strip.
I wanted to run the LED animation on it, but it needed something I did not knew how to make.
Also, maybe there was the suggestion to split the library into one per hardware/card... or at least on python file per board so that you don't waste memory by loading everything.
So what hardware do you have at hands? The multi-color 13x9, the LED Glass, ... what else?
hey I made comet run
though the color order is wrong
the colors are weird though
I just copied the code
wasn't it the issue where we need RTD to update the module to use the new settings ?
because it was created before a certain date
IS31FL3741_PixelBuf's _transmit calls is31.write()
that's just the internal API of IS31FL3741_PixelBuf
so it expects an object (the builtin one) with a write() function that does the real display of the thigns
(it's the PixelBuf API, the real sending of data to the neopixel/dotstars is done in _transmit that gets passed a buffer)
All over my head.
One thing, is that the LED SHIM is linear...
so: animations call show(), which calls _transmit(), which in IS31FL3741_PixelBuf calls write() on the passed IS31FL3741 object
Matrix are 2D.
And LED annimation are all linear (is it?).
WLED has a 1D and 2D animation... maybe that could be inspiration for LED animation?
yeah we should be able to do it at a lower level
The note say it is Katni hosting...
Thanks for the stream!
Will miss the meeting. But working on some notes.
Thanks, complicated stuff. Good stuff.
@smoky island for later, I got it to work by adding write() to the root IS31FL3741 class without using a temp_buffer, instead of the RGBMatrixQT subclass (which is only used to create the LED mapping).
That being said it then works with an RGBMatrixQT too, since it's a subclass, and I don't think it's notably different.
Scrolling text on a 13x9 is31fl3741 using a simplistic adaptation of the technique from the 5x5 BFF lean guide. Would really love it if there were abstractions to make these smaller displays into displayio.Displays.
I did it with a FrameBuffer, it has text()
using a buffer class that has __setitem__
where does the font come into play?
I stick with the default
text(string, x, y, color, *, font_name='font5x8.bin', size=1)
actually I don't know what formats it accepts
I just didn't spot the font anywhere in the gist
that was my one font in the pre-displayio days 🙂
🇸🇪 👋
looks like the product link for JT's product pick of the week doesn't match the description

Recalculating...
Going to use 1 to fill my dragon mask with tons of neopixels for this halloween. wasn't bright enough last year, work in progress.
I’m gonna get 2… I have no plans
it's never too early to start planning for halloween 🎃
Ordered!

Oh, yeah, I wanted to make a logic analyzer!
yeah that's the most frustrating thing: some neopixels work great when powered at 5.0V and signaled at 3.3V. But will not work at 5.25V and signaled at 3.3V. So could be a project works with a long USB cable (which drops the voltage down to ~5V) but does not work with a short USB cable (gives the 5.25V from the USB power supply)
Scott showed some interest in maybe using it for a logic analyzer. Looking forward to seeing what he does. I think cgrover might be interested in it too.
I've been thinking that the PIO might be able to gather ( and maybe compress ) data quite quickly - not sure if anyone has done that yet (for logic analysis )
I hope they do it, I’m not advanced enough to figure that out myself!
I think most WS2812B's love 5.0v
Pretty lights too XD
This board has been more than a year in development. So amazing to see it finally get out there and looking great.
The learn guide is really well written... and funny sometimes.
Yes, been waiting for the price of a commercial logic analyzer to hit my budget sweet spot. This could be a useful alternative.
Oh, hey… how do you connect power for the NeoPixels, since the tail just had signal and ground?
kinda looks like Lars is being captured by a UFO too
I don't think the CircuitPython NeoPxl8 library has dithering and gamma-correction yet, so if you notice a difference in behavior when going between Arduino & CircuitPython, that's why
Who was playing with dithering? Gamblor for his xmas strip matrix i think. Maybe he was using DMA or PIO?
yeah would need to use DMA, not sure how that's possible w/ PIO in CircuitPython. But it's how it's done in Arduino
5v 10A whew that's some juice
pfft i'm gonna stick like 200 LED right up against my face powered by 20000mah power pack. i will be blind but it'll be worth it.
What if 200 of the 4W NeoPixels
Those do take some juice but they're really not much brighter than a bunch of neopixels.
The 4W ones can light up a room!
Hmm maybe I was using it wrong? I was powering it on 3v3.. are you supposed to run those at 5v?
5V
~171 btu/hr, 3 x the heat generated by a typical human.
Is the LED Animation library compatible?
In a smol space!
We can see the glow on you! And things in the shop!
is there a "shopping list" to reproduce your demo ?
Thanks @haughty quiver
Good show!
Thanks!
Thanks!
thanks again!
thanks jp!
Thanks JP! 🦂
Awesomeness! Thanks JP

so much lars on that

Good afternoon mr. Callaway!
I am trying to figure out what to do with some "neon" style strips.
Bought some different colors.
Cool.
A mini tree with Noods?
yeah, all good points. thanks for discussing.
I saw one that only used bare brass strips and those small WS2812B breakouts.
Just noticed the Blinka neon sign behind Pedro!

Is Fritzing hard to compile on Windows?
if you're getting the stl from somewhere else, adding text in the slicer would be very nice

Good morning ☕
I followed your snap fit guide and .2mm isn't enough tolerance for my printer, had to hammer it into place with a mallet. I'll have to dial it back to .3mm or .4mm, something I didn't take into account when following the guide, derp. :/
A mallet is a makers best friend.

reminds me of one of those huge halo arm cannons. ohhh metroid
or mega man
Scorpio is an RP2040 with NeoPXL8 friend built in. Plus it's in 5v out, so awesome. Waited for about a year for it. Super excited to revamp my dragon mask using only Scorpio.
Docs on compiling Fritzing was rather confusing for Windows. Much easier on Linux.
🐕
I didn't find your snap fit guide until after I'd already started... and I was like ahhhhh. I have to redesign the snap fit completely over, yet again, again, for the 4th time... which is why those parameters exist so you don't have to do it manually over and over. Next design will be user parameters for sure.
love the arm switch for a rocket lamp, brilliant idea. is it a real arm switch?
might just be a cover
That lamp needs something to weigh it down. I buy lead in a divers shop for that. They even sell used weights, 1/3 the price.
even snap fits on the side, that's sweet!
A superlaser was a device which merged several separate "super laser beams" into a single exceedingly powerful beam. The largest superlasers ever designed, such as those in the Death Star and Death Star II, were superweapons capable of obliterating an entire planet with one shot at full power. There were also smaller-scale yet still immense supe...
a neat idea would be dragonballz characters with a fan for some effects
the fire could fancy if you could make it with noods
a window with a little picture of Noe looking out would be funny 🙂
i like those candles what have fire look on it so it might work too to have pixel for fire shape resin printed exhaust
that's one of the nice things about printables/thingiverse and remixes. once it's out there designs can evolve in ways perhaps you never expected.
keep an eye out for those razorblades sitting out with kids in the house.
Meany. Waking the peacefully sleeping puppy.
cute puppers 🐶
anthiriums are really hard to take care of down here for sure
and peace lillies, they're so delicate
i love the idea of the dog hanger. adorable.
nice
for the chinese zodiacs could be fancy projects for sure
true, wouldn't that be a bunny version this year

Thank you for taking time for us.

Do you have a video on using the measurement tool. I always have a hard time trying to measure the height of a cylinder. It's very frustrating.
Thanks @rocky reef & @hard hollow . See you all tonight.
Great show, @hard hollow and @rocky reef 👍
thanks guys
Thanks folks! cya tonight
thanks so much for having out folks!
When I went to a fishing store to buy lead rope for a wedding trebuchet, I asked as I went in, they asked what it was for and after I told them the said they didn't have any. I had to go back the next day and buy it for 'fishing'.
Hahah, that is funny! Yeah, I never tell them!
Al Stewart can go back to sleep for another 11 years now. 🙂

Good evening all you most excellent people!

You should make ones with different personalities!
Hello there
How’s your beard doing?
Excellent people?? Where??? Oh right, on screen!
Mario Paint!
Oh yeah I recall seeing this mouse online already
Really want to make one for my ORIC someday
Mario Paint is the best SNES mouse game
mario paint!
we need a more trackballs and ball mice in the world
I like trackballs
I thought about using a track ball on a keyboard
I’ve got an arcade trackball I need to mount as a PC trackball
I haven’t done the right of passage keyboard project yet
Dpad on a mouse 😮
Actually Wico made trackballs that would look cool with an Atmos… but they are expensive and only in the US it seems 😦

Maybe put a little fan in front of the fire to make it flutter?
Ohh, I have airflow sensors from vapes I could use for something like that…
Yay Scorpio!
Hehehe
Logic analyzer???
YAY
there is a fan in the enclosure
Scott's cat just chillin
Cat cam? Lol
Sigrok is a hard item to build for the raspberry pi
Scott’s kitty is one of my favorite things about his streams, hehe
I mean the coding stuff is nice too, but cats are something else
Love this a lot
I use it with the cypress chip to give me a 16 channel signal acquisition using raspberry pi
Very excited! I want a logic analyzer, but building one is cooler than buying!
RP2040 oscilloscope soon?
Add in a parallel hs ADC you can do logic and oscilloscope
And cheaper... Still don't understand why what is essentially a fancy, high speed ADC is $300 or more 😉
the pico sigrok code can do 3 adc channels too
I did try sigrok i2c decoder
250khz for 2 analog. 160khz for 3 analog
the scorpio's 8 lines on the end will be digital only due to the buffer
Brent is a human and not a recording, confirmed!
Wow, this is awesome
Ahh
(I haven't gotten analog going though)
PyIFTTT
Little!?
Everything should have as easy of an entry point as possible, to get as many people into it as possible, and as much of a ladder of progression as possible so people can go further and more advanced if they want
I setup github actions for the existing sigrok decoders
What's the frame made of? It looks amazing!
(not all work with pysigrok yet)
You’re always late for last Christmas and early for next Christmas
Except on Christmas, you’re on time for current, late for past, early for future
Ah, 3D printed. Should have guessed. Nice work!

JP!!! Lars didn’t get you!

I still only half get the Lars joke. It's funny anyways
Haha, those graphics are incredible
The final graphics turned out great
Lars is always lurking… plotting…
Wait, that didn't come off of a production line? Looks beautiful!

Creepy sloth noises
gotta love FreeSound.org
there is lars sounds

Yeah I plan on trying those stickers for a project but haven't tried yet. Looks great, just need to fix the color laser printer at the fablab first 😄
Weird animal version?

Or slap it N times to set the volume to N 😄
andy might be doing lars version

I think my nephew (2.5) will probably get mad at me if I start to take his toys apart. Maybe if I let him help...
Question: y’all are hacking a lot of baby/kid toys, but will y’all be designing any from scratch under the Adafruit banner? Maybe a line to grow with a kid into their own hacking age?
@teal river yah, prolly an AI teddy bear, yep 🙂

I assume y’all would do local AI stuff instead of cloud, which excites me

Speaking of ESP32-S3, you should come out with an ESP32-S3 version of the SCORPIO board. Extra memory to drive bigger displays.
got, it got it, got it, need it
aw, more stuff to read 😎
SCORPIO uses the pio to drive those pixel strings fast, the PIO is on the rp2040 only 😦
PT: have you found the Rockabye Baby series, with jems such as Babies Go Talking Heads, Babies Go the Who, Babies Go Frank Zappa (Nanook rubs it!!! 🤣 ), Tina Turner, Billy Idol, The Clash, CSNY, NKOTB, Gorillaz, Tears for Fears, etc. There's a ton up on spotify...
if raspberry pi foundation come with newer one it could be cool
Thank you Adafruit for keeping me company while I make lunches for a week :D
The art reminds me of Scott Johnson
ooh! Rockabye BBabby:Tool!!
Best toy
The toy should talk on what it lands on though.
Yes that is a bit disturbing, but then you cannot choose what you want to hear...
Is it me or did those boards look curved
"The impatient drivers go" 😆
That's the point of the toy. What will I hear next?
We didn't have mp3 players in the late 70s
I think it was just the scoring and bend between them
Also maybe camera lens
So much of my childhood was hunting through radio stations and tv channels. Nothing was on-demand.
I figured camera seems very fish eyed
Yeah, especially certain shots
ooo, digilent -- they make nifty products
So far as I understand, that was a choice, so I think you can make it play on land instead…
If you imprinted on that toy that's how it works 🙂
Gotta teach kids to adapt to changes, lol
Can't always get what you want is a good base level lesson.
Mhmm
And just more engaging. If you have buttons to play the samples it's boring. If you can't choose it's a toy.
Humans love randomness.
Except when they don’t
Explain gambling 🙂
Explain consistent schedules events XD
Those thermocouple connectors are great, and I loooove the polarization
hmm the user guide doesn't describe the protocol…
Do they have active 95/98/XP support???
Oh there's a mention of "message based firmware specification", maybe that's it…
seems so, anyone want to write the Sigrok driver? https://www.mccdaq.com/pdfs/manuals/Message-based Firmware Specification.pdf
(no I do have my own unfinished sigrok drivers to care about :-P)
Question: will Adafruit carry that thermocouple interface? And a thermocouple?

Mmm that one is nice too
