sleeping? who's sleeping during ask an engineer? heathens that's who.
ohh chip shortage song incoming. nice.
My chip shortage is the ft232hq
yes! chip shortage!
i mean not nice, but nice.
i have so many protoboards now i'm planning on soldering an entire pumpkin out of them next year.
Faster than typical ups times
I saw nrf52840 chips in stock
Need to make a design
Any CM4 coming up?
I really want one
was that the guy on Reddit who was like i got banned and didn't do anything wrong.. i'm just like ya ok. probably not, adafruit doesn't ban people for no reason.
I've got a good amount of raspberry pi picos, thanks mostly to you guys. So thanks for your efforts!
the stuff todbot showed on the bootloader for ML music was pretty neat. ML is moving into music now.
Someone needs to train it on identifying Buffalo Wild Wings chicken wing flavors
this has teddy ruxpin vibes all over again. remember those things started turning evil and saying all kinds of crazy stuff... to kids. careful there.
or was that furby? can't remember.
Lots of ideas from the DoLA episode
I like to solder :(
JP's product pick was so cheap this week i got more than a few. very useful for keyboard and large matrix projects.
whaaaaat one look at T'Pol and i was a fan of enterprise, what.
90s themes are really coming back
Ziggy where are we?
my amazon echo saved my reminder as "eat a fruit" when I set a reminder for "adafruit" so I didn't miss the livestreams! lol
Depressed millennial is a real costume this Halloween
Too true
And a healthy tip!
animated svg is a thing?
Yeah
Animated SVG! That's really cool, pt!
animated svgs are fun
SVG can be controlled by both CSS and JS
I learned about animated PNG just last week and now you're telling me animated SVG is a thing too?
Probably can't put an animated SVG on a printed pumpkin
i honestly do love adafruit's product slide show with graphics on their website. always beautifully well done.
I guess youโll have to find out ๐
ESP32-S2 TFT render the SVG on the display or the web page or whatnot
Put it on a smal pumpkin
on a serious note i took a look into the cheating scandal and believe he had some kind of device in his mouth.
aww ye my jam
EXTERNAL USE ONLY!
topologically we're just a toroid, so it's not really "inside"

STM32G0's back in stock. ๐ฎ
Do publicly traded companies have to share number of chips sold per quarter?
looks like I'll keep using RP2040 for a while to come
CP on STM32G0B or C would be nifty.
karaoke
what in the unholy god is that
that looks almost like an atari game I've seen a photo of
That's what the bad guy tried to use to hack the Gibson but Zero Cool stopped him
definitely looks kind of like bop-it lol
View-Masters are still awesome. Original VR
What bugs me with the samdxx shortage is Microchip is steady accepting orders yet I donโt really see evidence of deliveries
View-Master are IP trolls and very litigious
Just want to say... getting CircuitPython 8.0 on Pico W is 30 seconds and awesome
The hardest part of CircuitPython is knowing how to get the board in to UF2 bootmode
geekmom's glowing orb is super cool design with magnets and spacial compacted design.
Any waveform acquisition drivers yet on any of the CP targets ?
will ESP Devcon 22 be live streamed so we can listen in?
it's only online I think, free to register
so burner email, got it
hey i'm on there! ๐
yeah adafruit is all OVER that list... just tons.
one of the main reasons that convinced me it was a good idea to get my project OSHW certified.
dynobot

wait, did adafruit just get hit by dynobot too???
internet controlled murderbots, now possible, thank you!
it's context... apocalpyse now ears on a necklace bad... fake ear on a cellphone, not bad.
can you store extra earrings on it? Cuz if so that's actually kind of useful
who ever did the soundtrack sync to the PnP loading .... chef's kiss
ohh the digikey rulers with a microcontroller on them. i have one, it's honestly too pretty to use as a ruler.
learning how to do capacitive touch with them was very very useful as a beginner though.
so they didn't 3d print the ear?
now I just need a 3D printer that can handle TPU without worrying about jamming...
reminds me of the voyager episode with the ferangi ears and the sages

I often wondered what protocol is used in concert or sports events with thousands of devices
speaking of retro, modems are back in fashion
mqtt stuff is for advancers users, that said, for advanced users that looks like a really neat thing to play with... great for global reach cyber deck?
๐
I keep a USB hub for ATTiny
love drop in replacements, ughh that feels so good when that happens.
woah
yeah pca doesn't have i2c addressing. this is awesome.
add the multiplexers to the multiplexer and you get pins galore
Question: how many pins with a 16 pin PCA multiplexer with the new 8 port multiplexer? math
8x16?
that's 128 pins on 1 bus. if you use it with the pico which has 2 busses that's 256 pins. full sized keyboard and then some.
Question: PyLeap for Android what is the status.
QUESTION: When are you going to release the KB2040BT? I want to un-tether my split keyb.
TV be gone? more like all TV's in the neighborhood gone.
@open girder question for the show
I have a project that needs both BT and WiFi, normally the QWICC connection is for things like sensors. Can I connect two ESP- TFT FeatherWings with I2C / QWIIC ?
Question: When can you send moar nOOds!?
Thank you for sharing your time with us.
Thank you @open girder Thank you community.
good night
@haughty quiver @open girder I'm down to do converters for those keyboards but they'll be going at the end of the line ๐คฉ๐
They are incredibly boring keyboards TBH, so the need for a converter is nearly non-existant @robust horizon ๐
That GameCube keyboard tho
yo
on the other hand, doing Dreamcast controller to USB gamepad could be pretty snazzy...
same weird Maple Bus
Maybe I need to make the PS2 to make keyboard bus converter for all those dreamcasts out there
I could branch to controllers next. cables/connectors are the real stumbling block there
Unless there are after market cables still made
oh this is interesting https://github.com/OrangeFox86/DreamcastControllerUsbPico
Someone's already done it? Yay
Why the RP2040 is a Game Changer
To emulate a bespoke bus such as the Maple Bus on an MCU, one would usually either need to add extra hardware or bit bang the interface
So true
one source for connectors could be sacrificing these extension cables https://www.amazon.com/Wigearss-Controller-Extension-Cable-Sega-Dreamcast/dp/B09JJ8S821/
Yeah I don't feel too bad if it's only a third party cable that's being sacrificed
Itโs a beautiful day in the workshophoodโฆ ๐ถ
Greetings, good people.

Yeah, the real party is episode 256.
twice as good as the 128th episode
Why is the hash key sometimes called the pound key?
because you had to pound on it to make a free phone call
Ah. So now I know. ๐
think they just fixed the deep sleep on the s2, so it's actually a real thing now
Itโs the heaviest key on the โboard.
except for the S2 with built in voltage sensor, i think. still a bug for that.
still bugs to fix, we're in the middle of hacktoberfest after all.
ohh didn't know that guide existed, i'm definitely reading that one later.
"In the US it's often called the pound key, because it has long been used to mark numbers related to weight, or for similar reasons the number sign, which is one of its internationally agreed names."
Isn't it 14lb ? Or is that just in the UK?
Menu item #1 is the 0.25#-der
Really cool sequencer! I love how it shows the notes.
== OCTOTHORPE
Code in both CircuitPython and Arduino
nice todbot
thanks!
sounds good, could be louder but i'm deaf it one ear.
aw too bad about the camera framerate
Very nice.
i still haven't gotten past the initial part of lighting up the LED's, the code is kind of complex. probably not a lot of people going to be trying to change any of the code.
one fellow made a euclidean sequencer based on this https://github.com/redraw/euclid-pico-seq
maybe i have adhd, i went into 7 segment, display, and halloween projects. i need to get back to that one.
looks like a ton of fun ๐
now you're speaking my language. bleeps & bloops yass!
the 3D print for it is awesome too
oh they're available now
hey umm, i have one for you.
yeah i saw the one todbot posted of the 4 rows ๐
I had been working on a 16-step version using a SPI display and WS2811 LED drivers to get enough IO. Kinda stalled on it
the MCP2017 chips work great
Call me MIDI-curious and the picoStepSeq seems really approachable.
Somehow I fear it ends with me selling my car to afford synth patch cables.
yeah MCP2017 doesn't get you PWM dimming tho ๐
That is one neat sequencer @cinder wind - very cool! And being able to run that euclidean sequencer on it sounds very intriguing too!
yeah pwm was a sacrifice i was willing to make to get all 16 working
totally
could do stacking headers into a female header on a protoboard
glue gun is a valid maker tool
god i love looking at the innards of builds like this.
easier to write with marker on white, or add label maker labels.
Great workshop, @haughty quiver ๐
Thanks JP
nice projects

thanks JP, good show

Evening
just me or is it buffering a bit today?
Hello Tim from florida
Hi Tim and all present.
May have cut out, but should be back in a sec it shows green again in OBS
Yes I can
back now
woo! just in time. happy friday folks
๐
Submitted a few libs to the community bundle including RangeSlicer, a linear quantizer that uses hysteresis instead of filters for low-latency noise reduction. Just submitted ShadowWatcher, a simple gesture detector originally designed for the PyPortal. Working on an Atari Punk Console emulator today.
Can we get that translated into English please?
Yes, sensor filter for noisy sensors.
ohh nice
Used with a potentiometer to act like a rotary switch, for example.
hysterically useful
Who knew like 40 years later Atari Punk is just an awesome combination of words.
Atari Punk Console not associated with Atari, just makes lo-fi musical noises.
Atari Cyberpunk though... even better ๐
I think the Atari refereence is the case like the 2600 for the project.
Forrest Mims designed it and called it a stepped tone generator.
rip
Is the other end plugged in to the computer?
LED is off by default
is that a power-only usb cable?
Hmm, maybe zork on a feather?
Zork zero text game
should be able to yeah, same for hitchhikers guide
i used to play zork and other games on BBS's, i remember one of my favorites was called Dragonslayer. That was my online handle for about a decade because of that text game. BBS's were a lot of fun.
Pico uses RUN and GND to reset.
wrong port
wifi on ethernet, i have that problem all the time
ok we'll all probably fail anything about TV actresses that involve the cardashians and stuff. you killed it on the tech questions though.
except that one trick question about the teapot made in Utah... no one in Utah cares about tea.
you'd need a json parser in js? using array's?
you probably want to add something like document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', (event) => { ... })
for each sounds like it would work, yeah json is always key:value
ok i don't want to say always, just most times.
....
}```
close the connection on your code
if you close the socket you have to do a full build out of the connection again?
Wifi.radio.enabled
ctrl-c ctrl-d to reset
maybe interrupts are disabled?
You did wifi.enabled
you could try server._sock.close()
goodnight
it might be '\r\n\r\n'
NL = CR + LF ?
CR and LF are ASCII. NL is system dependant.
ie. NL is a concept rather than a character.
probably cutting out again ๐ฆ should be back ina a sec.
There were a few very short drops. (<1 sec here)
SSE
Walrus? That's a weird one. I sort of understood it when I read the description but I doubt I could remember if the right application came up.
:= I think
iirc it was like the += operator but something to do with references or dictionaries.
Walrus returns the value after assignment, I think. Thatโs why in the language spec itโs usually contained in parentheses like a function.
Tim thank you again for this DeepDive. Good weekend to all!
Appreciate todayโs stream. Always learn new stuff. Thank you.
thank you for streaming ๐
thanks!
Starting up this morning stream now working on displayio with pico w. Follow along on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/foamyguy_twitch or YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mo1kZWHc_10
Hello! ๐
good morning
hello
The horizontal power and ground rails are also split in the middle on that physical breadboard.
good afternoon y'all
Yes, where the red and blue lines are broken.
All my protoboards have short jumpers to close the gaps. Failure is a great teacher.
The newer large premium Adafruit breadboards have power busses connected across the gap. They are colored red and black, too. Weโll never know why blue was the legacy standard.
Ah yes. I recall being bitten by the R before.
Recommend that you wire power and ground directly to the breakout rather than using the rails to reduce the number of wires. Would make it easier to check connections.
My notes from connecting a similar TFT breakout https://gist.github.com/rsbohn/0eae96a096def3788c830359d0d59b12
Yes, you can hot swap select, but may need to reinit the display.
Can you get the 'REPL' text (no displayio) to show up?
good morning โ
started playing with the new user pages last night. it kept disconnecting me. only got the intro paragraph written before getting frustrated and giving up.
It may be browser-sensitive. I had problems with safari.
if you go to Learn > click on account > user pages
they just opened up learn guide creation, to anyone.
last night
MySpace for Adafruit Learn Guides? it was almost painful to try to use though. needs a ton of work.
Hi to all present!
yeah i was using Firefox on my iPad which shows up as Safari i guess. was in bed late at night maybe 4am, when user pages opened up, so was on a tablet.
tried pasting my code for the youtube api and it wouldn't accept it. like too many characters maybe.
i think it's the same, says tinymce at the bottom. yeah was a code object i think, it kept failing, not saving when i actually pasted code to the code box.
yeah i should submit feedback on that today
i don't like how it requires an active connection to the adafruit server in order to work. kept disconnecting which kills anything i was working on. super buzzkill.
With safari, I have to refresh whenever a new page or page object changes, otherwise graphics will be invisible.
text box works great though...
same, that's plagued me forever. sometimes things will load and sometimes they'll disappear as i'm scrolling lol. i can see a picture and as i'm scrolling down it'll just disappear. that happens on all sites though. that's an ipad problem.
I only experience that with Adafruit learn.
undo's and stuff makes sense, it's more of a "this browser is not chrome that every website is designed for" kinda thing.
product thing doesn't work. i put in 881 and nothing happens. nothing comes up.
yeah jumping around is frustrating but you get used to it after a while.
i think safari takes over firefox, yeah it's as weird as it sounds.
no web serial with FF. can't use web workflow or esp flasher with it
web workflow works fine in Firefox
oh figured it would use web serial, that's good to know, still haven't used it.
if you're not using the I2C specifically on pins then it's still available. it's per protocol per pin that'll be in use.
it's per I2C bus, of which there are 2
i'm using I2C 0 for 1 mcp23017 expander and I2C 1 for another. that's what allows me to have 32 pins for the step switches and led's.
yeah the neopixels are controlled through the seesaw
the library takes care of that anyway
my experience with pico has been the same it was super easy, everything worked first time, it's great.
haven't used pico w yet but it's identical pinout, works exactly the same but has wifi.
Hope to play trivia some day on my TFT ESP32-S2 Feather.
the s2 tft has input buttons on it too right? i don't have one.
oh those are just boot reset in a different location, nvm
keypad library but don't know if thats for seesaw, i'd like to think something is built into the seesaw library?
nice
lol pretty!, nyan cat kinda thing
you can use adafruit_debouncer, but it will poll every button separately (which takes 8ms each)
I have a couple of scripts for the neokey 1x4 that do bulk reading which makes it more efficient, but you would have to wrap it into something to make it look like keypad, which I might actually do some day
i've never used seesaw yet. seems versatile.
ok, thank you for streaming, looks like the hw and software are in a cool place now. looking forward to next stream where you tie it all together.
Thanks!
Great stream today.

At the desk this week, we've got a fevah and the only cure is testing out the proto picowbell we fabbed this week. did you change tab?
different tab
@ashen dove for kicks, try another browser, it appears all users are now able to use code
For what it's worth, I missed that the code is "deskofcowbell" and tried just "cowbell" since that's what they were saying in the video... then I saw here that no, it's really "deskofcowbell"
I was able to get it to take ๐๐ป
Though no actual order because itโs not payday yet ๐ฌ
yah, deskofcowbell is it as a reminder !
Just got 2 high quality Noods, deskofcowbell worked for me.
nice
can it take >5V power?
this is screwed up, don't have password for other browser
IR blaster definitely is the right term
desk of ladyada and having code deskofcowbell so rimes
@ashen dove try shift + refresh in the same browser after emptying the cart
and try again since ya dont have the password to try a new browser, or can just do a password reset to so you're set up in the future (and good practice to do 2fa too)
Or maybe try an incognito tab/private browsing window
yeah i always have to logout/login on different PC's with firefox to get the cart to update. it's really annoying.
it's not that bad except if you don't have your 2fa authenticator handy it becomes extremely inconvenient.
not working on edge!!!!
A literal Edge Case ๐
@ashen dove so far it's been used for 8 folks, so i think you'll need to reset password, try in new browser, and clear our any cart
double check it's...
deskofcowbell
all lowercase
the infrared LED's projects with a small LCD or OLED you can make your own Logitech Harmony remote... because Logitech stopped making them or they're like waaaay ridiculous expensive now.
that's the problem, thought you said cowbell only
ah! good, yep - try deskofcowbell
the Ruiz brothers or Liz made an awesome project with a learning mode for infrared remotes... the learning feature is a big big deal. adafruit is making it super easy to make your own universal remote.
maybe ask Digikey to list the radiated whatever so you don't have to dig through datasheets yourself?
dreams of companies implementing HDMI-CEC better
the old surface table had IR so if you put glass on top of it the IR if I remember correctly measured the liquid level
isn't 1000ma 1 amp? an amp for a tiny LED. that's crazy.
Oh yeah, any chance you've found any more time to work on the ABLIC S-35710 breakout?
Night all
Hey Tim. In bed with fever and so very bored. ๐
๐
.png support is a huge move forward. Lossless compression and transparency support. Does this build png transparency into the palette?
Wondering if the transparency can be automatically generated by the .png file itself.
Look at the palette list after loading and test for transparency before setting it in the code.
I thought PNG's used an alpha channel for transparency?
Maybe just one of the formats?
Yes, I believe itโs an 8-bit channel.
Looks like it is getting confused of how many columns it is rendering?
Found this:
Palette-based images, also known as colormapped or index-color images, use the PLTE chunk and are supported in four pixel depths: 1, 2, 4, and 8 bits, corresponding to a maximum of 2, 4, 16, or 256 palette entries. Unlike GIF images, however, fewer than the maximum number of entries may be present.
Palette not being the size it thinks?
Ah, no compression and palette required. No alpha support with palette mode.
And stream died.
Can you make lots of colors then specify the max when converting to indexed? That way you can select the number of colors in the palette more easily.
You can use the "file" command in Linux to get info on the image format.
Excellent sleuthing
Isn't 7 the bitmap header?
Seems you forgot to disable YT chat. We got a spammer.
Killed it.
Thanks for the stream.

ok I was confused. Didn't see a broadcast anouncement. FoamyGuy is streaming. https://www.twitch.tv/foamyguy_twitch
i'm on PC and I have all the desktop notifications disabled. Basically only way i get notifications is when I'm on discord in live broadcast chat or announce.
missed the meeting but saw dishipu got PNG support merged. That's awesome. So many cool updates happening lately.
and the list of all the stuff CGrover was working on kept going and going. i was like good god man you're a machine.
Ha! Half of those on the list are from old project repos that are being refactored to apply all Iโve learned from watching Foamy and other CircuitPython experts. Would be embarrassing to leave them as-is even though they worked okay. Finally figuring out how to successfully submit to the Community Bundle was motivating too.
Ethernet frame is 1500. But with some encapsulation like for ADSL or tunnel, you have to be a bit lower.
You may want to have upper layer not make big chunck that will have to be split at the lower layer...
Turn off your wifi?
how do you make sure the co-pro forgot everything?
Must be some โwaiting to fill the bufferโ timeout timer proportional to buffer size?
Thanks!

Hello fellow JPPPotW'ers!
๐
๐ JP's Product Pick of the Week
Is the product direct link missing on the YT page?
๐
Vampires prefer red tooth tech.
๐
I'll post it in here after the broadcast starts. Let's not jump the gun before he even starts streaming.
I'm one of those cheaters
Hello all
I have jumped as well
it's not cheating, it's just creative rule bending
Easy enough to find by title in yt
(I've got a feeling I may have one of the POTW already...)
Product wasn't discounted until like 1 min ago anyway. ๐
Think its out of stock if the learn page is correct
They bump the stock for POTW.
Just refreshed and the product is in stock and discounted.
holy moly
I like the theme music. You can actually dance to it.
Love the โblue toothโ โฆโฆ nicely done @haughty quiver
Used my adabox glasses from last fall for Krampus walk
I was right! (I got one in my adabox w/glasses) It's a great little board!
No GPIO, I2C stemma out only? I2C stemma out still has plenty of uses. More and more as more Stemma QT modules come out. ๐
Why does that glasses board need BLE?
If you need bluetooth and I2C only for your project, it's perfect. Probably great for LED strips.
to change the color with your phone using Bluefruit App probably.
Ah
Is it just me or is the YT feed not on yet?
YT feed is streaming here
YT is working here, too.
So you can change the colors and brightness from you phone in a portable application!
great shirt JP
I modified my glasses so I could change color/brightness of the LEDs through either BLE from my iphone or serial usb from my computer. (I was playing with retro-reflective "green" screen.
No GPIO on this board, but you could get a GPIO expander board and connect via stemma, no?
but is it a darth fader?
That's a great point MikeP.
Ah, the dream of UK shipped ada-boxes
Attach a bunch to yourself and go dancing. ๐
I picked up 2 because never know when something like that might come in handy. At that price it's a great pickup because most of the NRF52840 boards get pricey real quick.
JP aka harald Bluetooth
I use lipo for everything. the built in chargers are too convenient. usually buy boards that specifically have charging capability vs ones that dont.
At this price, it's cheaper than the Bluetooth Dongle:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/5199?gclid=Cj0KCQjwnbmaBhD-ARIsAGTPcfW8rFoV6gUe18elTQkyx-V2P4Swghpd8i9-Zvc0vBEbycMqTKx66wcaAkyUEALw_wcB
i love those faders too
yeah ikr, and having the I2C is super handy for most of the new stuff coming out. everything is stemma now (which is awesome). โค๏ธ stemma qt.
thx jp
thank you all for hanging out
So I'm unclear, we can put it in our mouths?
Today's pick pairs well with the at817 seesaw breakout.
The thumbnail indicates maybe the nose instead
that really is a great deal. thanks JP. oh i finished up the neopixel goggle kit build i got 1/2 off during the pick of the week at the beginning of the month. โค๏ธ
Cool board. Dentist will be impressed.
that's very cool!
Lordy, I broke down and bought me a couple. I'm wondering if I can hook this up to an i2c CAN module?

Good evening everyone.
I'll be at Supercon!
Jealous!
I'm jealous. ๐
(it's like 2 miles from my house so I feel I must)
Oooo, nice ocean colored keycaps!
yooo nice progress on the keeb
[i think...]
wait....those are lighter blue. Back to the google I go.
I feel like someone linked the specific keycaps last week
those are great! i used those on a keyboard i built for my mom.
The ones I'm using are Drop MT3 Dancer
They're a great color, though a bit steep being SA....[if you're used to flat chiclet keyboard....or even MT3]
That explains why it weighed so much. I just remember moving it about as a kid
holy transformer batman
Drop, why am I not surprised? So many goodies on that site.
Hey those Commodore floppy drives were WAY faster than using the datasette deck.
@viral sail doesn't make it fast though
Jellies
Although the actual decoding and reading of disk data into the drive's own internal RAM happens much faster, the data transfer rate between the drive and the computer is limited to the very low value of about 300 bytes per second. It can be made much higher by using a fast loader (up to about 10 kilobytes per second).
Love it
When I finally got a fast loader it was life changing
whaaaat it took me a while to realize that was a human and not an LED display
Didn't realize Erin could breathe underwater. Pretty cool!
I recall in '83 using Commodore Pets in a cluster of sorts, the entire class room was sharing ONE floppy drive. So yes, it was WAY overbuilt for a home computer, but it had office uses that no-one could match.
@delicate fractal I did not experience that! wow
Wow, stunning Erin! Those LEDs look amazing on the tail
I thought it was a subnautica creature at first lol
Water levels are always the most challenging....from Mario to Sonic to Zelda to Adafruit's Electronics....but we'll succeed and make it look awesome!
@waxen thistle I found the sand worlds harder, personally.
Haha that space skeleton ๐
or ghost levels
I have an old costume helmet, I should use it for that too.
Sandopolis -- worst of both sand and ghosts!

Space Kook was just a malfunctioning and misunderstood robot friend.
are there any underwater ghost levels in classic mario? must have been a combo by now.
reminds me of
First instance was in Super Mario World -- "Sunken Ship" right before the final world (Bower's island).
you are an encyclopedia
Just don't eat the bat
and now SMW ghost house music is playing in my head
Interesting note -- the sunken ship was the only ghost house in SMW where you could bring Yoshi.....and the level ended by grabbing a green question-mark orb.

Looks like the same chip on the Feather RP2040. Could you theoretically unsolder that and solder one of these on?

But you do specify the flash chip during core compilation

Hi Tim and all present!
Heya'll
I would advise using the seesaw bulk read for the neokey buttons
but that's an optimization for later when you use more than one button
yeah each seesaw read takes 8ms, plus you can use the int pin if you wire it
I have demo code for it, with or without interrupt:

oh yeah it's a trivia game, no need for optimizing the buttons !

Can you touchscreen scroll ?
Or auto-scroll up\down slowly if its too long?

Donโt use brackets for the source string
I was very confused by that too.
Gonna take some work to fit on the feather-tft.
I always feel like someone will take over stream while he's away ...
breadth rather than depth
Could use a feather proto to wire to the Feather TFT
Get the MVP going before you worry about the scrolling
Hmm so I can't memorize the choice position or tell someone which choice the answer is... good call. Can't have cheaters
It's not that loud. Totally fine.

Do you remove the candidate answers when you select one (in the shuffle)?
Did this question only have 2 choices but its not a boolean?
Actually the shuffle looks good. ๐คท
To add the degree char, went looking for the terminalio.FONT binary but came up short. Think itโs in the micropython source somewhere.
No degree symbol in terminalio.FONT (lots of requests for it)
Thank you again Tim. Goodnight to y'all. Have a nice weekend.
Gotta run. Thanks for the coding and the trivia ... now off to find a beer.
Thanks, it's been fun.
@chrome totem I used another font which has it
Thanks. Good times.
@chrome totem: from adafruit_bitmap_font import bitmap_font fn = "/fonts/helvR12-ISO8859-1.pcf" # This font has a degrees sign font = bitmap_font.load_font(fn)
@chrome totem. Here the degrees sign in gps position
Using a font like this makes the printing to the screen slower. The terminalio.font is built-in and prints instantly
I can get six lines of text on the Esp32-S2 TFT Feather if I use the Arial-14 font.

Oddly enough the larger matrixes sell better but also larger pitch. Iโd rather have the more condensed pitch. Itโs weird because in monitors, the more pixel density the more expensive they are..for microcontrollers the opposite seems true.
Oh Iโm specifically talking about the RGB matrix panels. Thatโs where you see a big difference in pitch translate to large differences in size.
Hello!
I was up all night coding. About to crash coming down from a caffeine high.
Never heard of it. Never played wordle either, hear thatโs pretty popular too.
Hey Tim! Hey guys!

It is kinda nice to see the progress of CircuitPython, even though it just by managing translations of new error messages. ๐
https://twitter.com/treasuredev/status/1583779757493141506?s=61&t=AoRq0AI571M-VZlqqwxLiw hereโs what I was working on. 4 separate APIs in one script. Feather S2 has sooo much ram this stuff is possible now.
Good morning twitheads! I had a wonderful redbull infused night of coding and API shenanigans. Very happy with how this one turned out. #circuitpython Sooo much caffeine, yusss happy. Code will be on Github soon. Last stats are Adafruit's discord where I usually hang out.
Thank you. Everyone working with apiโs lately. ๐ it was a frustrating learning experience. Just wanted to share that with you before I nod off. Iโll be falling asleep watching you this morning.
morning all! Hope everyone's well
I can also put six lines on that screen if I want to.
Hi Tim & all present. I am a bit late. I was in FaceTime with my son in Louisville, KY.
Wrote a short test script to see the touch values of adafruit_tt22100 module with the esp32-s3-box. Odd: that the 0,0 is the right top corner instead of left-top.
Maybe you got the Australian version.
Bought it through Adafruit Ind.
Or Arabian or Hebrew? They write from right to left too isn't it?
I was just thinking that it works as expected if you hold it upside-down.
Or there is an error in the algorithm of the tt22100 module?
I copied the source. I have to study it
Here is the 'property' touches of the tt22100 module
The author of this code is Scott. Wrote it in 2017.
Hello. Joining late after running an errand. Settling down to a side of breakfast fiber while watching the dive. ๐
You may need to translate the touch points to match the display. See https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_CircuitPython_TT21100/blob/main/examples/tt21100_paint.py
If it was Scott it is obviously correct. ๐
So touch is 180ยฐ off compared to the display?
@chrome totem thank you. Yes, I was already thinking about something like that. So, I don't have to re-invent the wheel ๐
@clever summit it appears like that.
@clever summit Scott sure is good, I experienced that. On the other hand no human is infallible.
However first think the algorithm is correct. See was could be the cause for this odd 'mirror'-ing.
That is true. The thing I am trying to teach the guys I mentor at work is that I am never wrong, but that does not mean I don't make mistakes. ๐
๐
Often I experienced with debugging problems that it was me that caused the error or an omission.
The "never wrong" actually only means that all final decisions are mine.
I sometimes checkin bugs just to show I am not unfailable so they don't feel bad when it happens to them.
Junior developers.... ๐
Btw these are the relevant struct.unpack format characters explained
the greek letter lambda is indeed commonly used as the half life of a radioactive isotope (among other things)

I am pleased that I now have CPY running on my ESP32-S3-BOX. Unfortunately there is a serious problem when trying to connect to a WiFi AP in the house. The MCU goes into a boot-loop, reporting internal watchdog timer did reset the PRO CPU and reset the APP CPU. I created an issue. Danh is looking into it.
yep
I see now that the SPI mode of the MCU is 'QIO'. I Checked and see that I flashed the tinyuf2 bootloader (combined.bin) using ESP2S3 Flash Download tool V3.9.3 with SPI MODE 'DIO'. I don't now if this could be a source of the problem?
A on cars is Austria. Interesting as it is named รsterreich natively.
I just flashed the tinyuf2 bootloader now with SPI mode QIO...
The latest CPY from today.
It's really functional and looks very clean as you click through, well done!
That interaction is something I hate doing so I really appreciate it when it's done well like this kind of thing
Unfortunately.... still crashes on WiFi connect attempt.
