I'm looking to build a bigger tricep with dip, but I feel most of the tension on my shoulders. Looking for critiques and advices. Thanks!

How to do Dips The Dip has been occasionally referred to by some as the 'Squat of the upper body'. Perhaps because it's probably one of the best movements to do load heavy and is a great tool to develop pushing strength. However, it's also probably called that because of the extreme commonality of performing

look at the shoulder caving compensation

#

gotta keep your shoulders away from your ears

The right example is a support hold with excessive protraction causing upper back rounding (thoracic flexion) and as a result the rest of the body curls up to balance, with the lower back similarly rounding and the legs moving in front of the body.

Hey thank you mate 🥹 I always thought I was doing sth wrong with my start position until now

Just read that part. Actually I learnt how to dip from

And seems like they have different form compared to what Nick did. This is what I always wonder

jesus old fitnessfaqs video

#

in both examples theyre roughly doing a dip and their shoulder isnt caving

#

looks like yours is

#

so i would fix it and probably you'll feel it a little less in your shoulder

so you studied their form, and then you did dips in a way that your shoulder caves lol

Sometimes I find that correct dip form is even more confusing than pull up

fwiw i dont think theres a huge difference practically or in terms of "muscles hit" between those two form keys

#

you're probably overthinking it

#

keep your shoulders down, find a comfortable hand width, and lower yourself

#

seems easy enough to me

Hmm okay

His torso angle looks different from what I know

Bc most of the time I will try not to lean myself forward too much like keep it upright, but maybe bc I alr rounded my back during start position I ended up mess it up :))))

torso angle barely matters besides comfort and biasing certain muscles
