I have seen a lot of players suggest a gifting or trading system in the past. I propose that instead, we could have an auction hall, where players could sell their unwanted cosmetics/cosmetic bundles, including custom-made and -named cosmetic bundles.
The players could sell any items they wanted (aside from Steam exclusives) in the auction hall, however they would have to be within a certain price range. It's a little tricky to explain, so here are some examples:
- Original price 500 = Auction price range 250 - 750
- Original price 1,000 = Auction price range 500 - 1,500
- Original price 200 = Auction price range 100 - 300
Essentially, you divide the original price in half, then add and subtract the half to/from the OP. These two numbers are the price range limits. Furthermore, when the item that is being auctioned is in the shop, the maximum auction price will match the original price.
In addition, players will be able to put out a request looking for a particular cosmetic/cosmetic bundle for a specified price (the price specified would be the maximum the player is willing to spend; they could purchase it for a lower offer). The same price range principle would apply.
You would also be required to pay a predetermined amount (e.g. a quarter of the auctioned price) to remove your auction from the listings, but not your requests.
I have tried to leave as little room as possible for an exploitation of the system, however, with this type of game addition, it is extremely difficult to completely eradicate these advantageous usages.
See the attached mockups for a general idea of how this could be implemented into our current menu system. I would like to mention that there is a Steam-exclusive item for sale in one of the mockups. This is an error on my part.
