My reason for this is, sometimes when you join the gamemode you don't have enough time in the lobby to choose the ability and you can no longer choose your ability.

Past ZBR had the ability selection before starting in the duo's selection screen, the same way ZDC does.
I wonder why it was changed to the 90 second lobby this time?

PITA to go back out to the lobby to set it, if got re-set or you forgot - Going back and forth will cause problems, and i think is one source of odd 3 person duo's or the 2 avitar- 3 player glitch.
