Annoying guy here again with yet another suggestion yeah
On today's episode we're tackling the new Mace melee weapon.

My Issue

Mace is the exact same as the Knife except you walk slower with it, you deal 25 more damage (which changes next to nothing, it's still 3 body hits or 1 hit to the back... I don't think room to regen HP matters when you are fighting in melee range), and you have slightly more knockback on hits (which doesn't help you, and doesn't matter if you hit from the back and they died).

Mace is the Knife, but worse. As I see it, the Mace is the worst melee weapon in the game.

Also disappointed that there is no sound for it at this time. If I find the materials I can maybe look at donating some sounds. This would just be a large sheet of plastic or metal, like a plastic chair mat or something. Then just wobble it next to a microphone, delay the sound so it lasts longer and that should be a good heavy swing sound. An impact sound can also likely be made by bass boosting the same wobbling sounds but keep it the same length or shorten it.

My Suggested Change

Visually and mentally the Mace is a big heavy stone weapon that feels like it should be heavy and do a lot of damage. To me if there is going to be a OHKO melee weapon, Mace is the obvious choice.

  • 375 damage
  • Slow swing speed (no swinging it once every second nonsense)
  • Slow walk speed

To give it a real feeling of "oomph" you can set it up to be fast or fastish walking speed normally. After swinging it make the player walk slower as they recover from the big swing. This makes it naturally feel like it is heavier and like it is a massive swing of power. This also punishes players for missing a melee swing and doesn't make it feel like you can swing into player after player with no cares in the world (though you still can, it's just not super simple).

This can mean 100% - 110% run speed while active, and then 80% - 90% while "reloading" swings.
