Nowadays I get the impression that there are less veterans active who check the veteran applicants channel. Either that or a lot less are willing to sponsor applications. Because of this, I think we should reduce the number of votes needed to get the role from 10 to 8 or even 6. The exact number isn't as important though and I'm sure it can be decided later.

(Please not 7 it's an odd number and it isn't a multiple of 5)

#

If anyone knows any other reason why a lot more applications seem to be getting rejected I would love to hear it

I do accept that. I don’t look at the veterans application channel a whole lot, but also a large majority of the people I see there I don’t want to vote for.

Reducing the number of votes needed for a user to become a veteran is a compromise

#

It's good to reduce the number of votes needed because sometimes, your application could be rejected because not enough votes are placed

#

However, there is still a risk with users abusing the vet role

#

The vet role was created to prevent users from abusing the ability to add images and other forms of content

#

Who knows? Maybe this suggestion could work out well, but the current system is good because its implementation has been proven to be effective

I think it definitely falls more upon an issue of trust

#

Snipey as an example didn't take long to be accepted on their very recent application

what about a "trusted" role, that if you go long enough without any problems or incidents you can get it?

sharp wind
#

Reasonable, but people could just play the long game

then require a time limit and activity

#

maybe?

sharp wind
#

Such requirements are part of the application for the vet role

fast zodiac
#

but vet role would require, let's say a year of activity, but you are required to be voted in, but three years of activity to get "trusted"(number exaggerated)

#

Honestly, the vet role should stay the way it is right now

#

The only complaint I have is that one can be a trusted member yet still have their application be rejected since there may be an insufficient amount of votes

inland bear
#

which means they aren't a trusted member

#

if you vote for someone and they abuse the perms, the voter can lose their perms

#

so voters are only going to vote for people they trust

I do check the application channel everyday, and choose who I want to vote for, and have noticed more than one vet that does the same as me

#

It might looks like the application channel is just filled with something like 10 request denied streaks before seeing one accepted request, but there's some reasons behind that, other than simply vets being inactive

fast zodiac
#

my idea behind the trusted role is, you have to be here for a long time, but also not anger a mod

fast zodiac
#

but be active

How would that be different from the veteran role then?

the veteran role requires less time but you need to be voted in by other veterans
