Alright folks, any ideas as to how to best balance this, and which/how many weapons to add?

I'm leaning towards something along these lines:

  • Top speed at ~80% of the other jets, no afterburner
  • Def: Much tougher against ground-based assets, weak against airborne missiles/guns
  • Att: Stronger attack against ground targets, weaker A/A missiles, stronger gun against airborne assets
  • Weapons:
    • Gun: 300 of the same type as the heli lvl. 2, heavier damage output than the one on the 1-fin
    • Unguided rockets: 8x same as 2-fin
    • A/A missiles: 2 (should be 4 but ✨balancing✨), much weaker than 1-fin's
    • A/G missiles [New]: 4 – only lockable on ground targets, heavier hit than A/A missiles, 100-150 damage each on direct hit
    • Bombs: down the line, could be implemented later as lgbs from a player-held target designator.
  • Don't think there's any difference between the fdms of the two existing jets, ideally would be a little more nimble due to wing shape + speed.

Hmmm I agree, I like the sound of bombs as well, but I think making them laser guided might be too much, to balance them I think they should be very powerful, have the power to insta kill players within a set radius and maybe deal 800-1000 damage to vehicles, but have no aiming system, instead needing to estimate where they will go, kinda like war thunder rb without sights. Maybe they could be released using space as there will be no afterburner. It would spice things up tbh, maybe if you could have 1-2 to use per flight and be the equivalent of the 1 use bgm and airstrike in the air.

I think another cool thing to implement would be to kind of simulate the recoil. So make the gun extremely powerfula and have more ammo than usual, as it is irl, whether through very high damage output or very fast fire rate, but to compensate have it slow the plane down, so players can't just continually brrp lets say in a dogfight and need to time their bursts

I think making it very powerful as an attack aircraft, but kinda clunky in dogfights against the other 2 variants is the way to go in terms of balancing

At the moment bombs don't exist, that would take adding a new feature that would pretty much only be used on here. Could be faked by using a modified version of the GL projectile's physics (forward momentum equal to that of the aircraft itself only).
My thought with LGBs was that it could be added as something a player could add to a slot, then point at a target on the ground and the pilot would be able to lock onto that point and release (within limits). Would require teamwork but could result in a much more effective ground-attack platform. Could also implement them the same way the homing missiles are implemented – if there's something to lock onto they'll lock onto it, otherwise they fire unguided.

Area 15 is decently likly. As for others I personally think southwest would be a must, Northwest could work and could have spots for it. pacific maybe as they’re large enough but lacks a good spot to spawn it. Desert too small and lacks a spot for its to be spawned at. Just my guesses at it.

The amount of flares is sufficient enough. Last thing you want is to help people camp planes 24/7, adding more flares means less of you getting shot down
