Hey so Im currently running a fabric server with some epic world gen mods like WWOO, Terralith, Terratonic, Incendium, etc. All world gen mods mainly, Im using fabric in tandem with a ton of server optimization mods, like ferritecore, servercore, phosphor, etc. However I saw that purpur is very efficient, would it be better to switch to purpur? Im running a server where vanilla and geyser clients can join, and if I did switch, could I import the same world?
#Purpur or Fabric

purpur is a paper/spigot fork, so you cannot run any mods on it
Yes dude I know that
well then it depends on what is most important to you
if you don't care about the mods, then yes, def go for purpur
if you want the stick with the mods you can only use fabric
How good is their chunk loading that’s what I’m most concerned about
it's better than fabric's, that's for sure
but you won't be able to spam elytra either
☹️
and render distance should prob still stay at 7-8
Guess I’ll stick to fabric and create my own mods then
either way you're not going to be able to get to that kind of speed without the hardwarer
software only takes you so far
Hardwares fine I’m running premium
Also I’ve noticed that a lot of plugins aren’t in purpur
purpur is a fork of paper/spigot so it supports all paper/spigot plugins
Automatically?
I see
thats good but you need way better hardware than that to be able to spam elytra speeds in latest versions
yes, it's a hard fork
it retains all the features of paper
Idk I’ve been able to spam elytra so far
My chunks load insanely fast
yea it works for like a few minutes
but then the chunk loader stops catching up
esp if you are generating new ones
I’ve tested it and it loads faster than I can fly for a while besides massive mountains
And that’s because I have tectonic installed lol
that doesn't make it faster
it makes it slower
anyways it depends on your specific setup at the end of the day
i tested this on my own server a year ago
i'm not a big elytra-spamming person
That’s what I said…
I’m saying it doesn’t work on mountains
Alright I guess I’ll stick to fabric tbh
