Certain people can't connect to Minecraft server

I host a server for a community of people on b1.4_01, however some people can't connect. All that happens is a long connecting screen then "End of stream".

A friend and a community member have this problem, but I can't figure out why it only affects certain people.

With my friend I have tried the following:

• Verifying port (25574)
• Verifying version (b1.4_01)
• Connecting to IP directly

Even after trying all of what was mentioned above, nothing has worked.

Also for some extra information, the server is running Project Poseidon Craftbukkit 1.1.8.

afaik, end of stream isn't a no connection, rather the server is reachable but the server stopped sending data. If you are using mods, that's likely the issue

check logs on both sides
