I made a mod for my server, its some barricades and items, so a few masterbundles and unity3D files, id like to protect the mod the most i can from being reused, stolen, modified
ik about the IP whitelist but it doesnt seem very effective against stealing

#

along with that unless you use a few specific plugins the items themselves are mostly useless, but still id like to add extra protection

this will prevent people from just reuploading mod

#

but if someone really wants your assets there is no way from preventing him to reupload

hmmm alr thank u

you can always obfuscate ur mod to make it more pain in the ass to edit for people who steal em, but there's no way to prevent ppl from getting em

if it would be stolen, does the SDG do something about it, if I was to contact him?

If one person gets multiple dmca claims he will get community ban

SDG does not get involved with it. As it has nothing to do with them. As dzzonii said, you can create a DMCA claim on them for copying your work and that's all through steam.

Honestly, sad to say it's easier to just accept that if your mod is good, it's gonna be stolen

#

If someone steal your mod and knows what's doing, they're gonna use a fake account to upload

#

You could create a DMCA claim, but if they want your mod, they will create will most likely create as many accounts ad needed

My mod is for my server, I made it to have something unique above other servers, its sad to say that these shits use other peoples work for their own server

It's just how it is sadly. The most you can do it put the restriction IP on your workshop mod. That atleast prevents people from using that specific mod.

yeah thank u

#

i was wondering if the SDG planned to do something about this, if it would be possible

arctic flint
#

It's more of a "people" problem than SDG problem, all games are like this

distant sky
#

i thought itd be possible for the game to track the specifics of ur mod, like the size of the collider in unity, naming exc.. yk just the specifics of the mod read from the masterbundle or unity3d then if any other mod had the same specifics it would tell u ingame

#

but thats some crazy ideas yk

#

ig i will make it custom data, and IP whitelist it if thats all i can do

twilit forge
#

the false positives on that "prevention" would be so high it would be unusable

distant sky
#

ig

#

but we really need smthin cuz currently u can steal all u want

twilit forge
#

anything uploaded on the internet can be easily stolen

#

Honestly you gotta accept people will be assholes and steal your work

If even big companies can't avoid games being leaked, how would we do

but if like a server was using my assets

#

which they would steal

#

could something be done about that?

#

atleast yk shutdown that server

#

they could create new servers but getting the players would be hard so that would work ig

Sdg can block IPs for stuff like that

once a guy stole a image i made, claimed it as his own and then went to strike my youtube video (it was a video talking about his video so i had clips from his video in there but i said that the clips are from his video) so i had to delete the video.
it is a big and annoying problem which is very difficult to fix. just try to make it as difficult for people to steal it as you can. that could make them quit (i recomend making some post on a platform like youtube or something showing the mod before you upload it to the workshop you could use the video as proof that the mod is yours)
