#HELP ASAP Port Forwarding virgin media router
108 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
udp, local start port 27015, local end port 27016, external same ports
assuming you're using the default port, otherwise any valid 2-port range will do (if you're not sure just use the default)
The SDG article helps partially.
so to confirm, this config should work
only asking as this is the exact same as i tried a couple minutes ago and it didnt work(i was probs doing something else wrong)
left is local
right is external
also need to set the local IP if you didn't set it
(ipconfig in command prompt on windows)
yep got it
so now that i have this set up, i start my server from the dedicated server tool, correct?
assuming you actually have a valid external IP the only other thing that could make it not work is a firewall
Wait, Karma
yeah, with the script you made previously
doesn't Unturned use TCP as well?
i have not made a script
Figured some of the UI plugin methods ensured usage of TCP to ensure gameplay affecting elements were properly sent.
also thank you guys for the quick help i am eternally grateful
- Enable UDP protocol.
from the article :p
I'm sure some plugins/etc. could make use of TCP in general but I don't know of any specific ones that do (at least over the internet, I imagine DB queries would be done over TCP?)
but in general the server itself as well as at least any plugins that don't connect to remote hosts should work with just UDP
: 3
well, however you started the server in the tutorial should work fine
it's just the same thing after all, making an external script is generally recommended but not technically required
is there a video or tutorial u could recommend?
Send him Nelson's one
all the ones ive looked at are different and its driving me nuts
anything made in 2020 or after should work tbh
ok
this is the official documentation
Download SteamCMD here: https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/installer/steamcmd.zip
SteamCMD commands:
login anonymous
app_update 1110390
quit
For further Unturned configuration and settings refer to the documentation: https://github.com/SmartlyDressedGames/U3-Docs/blob/master/ServerHosting.md
Installing SteamCMD: 0:00
Installing Unturned 3...
This one.
(except possibly for GSLTs)
Jdance this really is so useful
realistically it just saves me from having to search the docs manually (though tbh I still have it open somewhere) but it's just convenient even if it functionally saves maybe 2 seconds
at least on PC that is, on a phone, well, whole other story
honestly I could probably write some of the common docs page urls from pure memory though :p
also, if my friend is connecting to my server i send him my local ipv4 but what will he put as the port
27015?
if you port forwarded and they're not at your house send them the external IP
and yeah, 27015 by default
ok
If you got any other command suggestions go ahead, I've been trying to brainstorm.
Make sure to give him your public IP
not your private IP
you'll also need to make and add a GSLT (as mentioned above)
I did mention having command aliases for some of the common pages right? :p
what is a gslt
.
The bot sent an article about it.
doing /support GSLT or even just GSLT would be even faster :p
how do i know if im using public or private ip
Yep, how about a /support info type:bans,someotherthing,anotherthing
so one command with different params
sorry ive literally only ever done an arma server before so this is all new
you can look up your own IP in your browser.
your private IP here starts with 192
well, for a lot of articles I feel like that wouldn't really do much since for example GSLT works with docs:GSLT
Seriously Edge? IPv6?
I could probably think of some nice new feature though :p - just not right now since I'm severely sleep-deprived
whatever i put for local IP in this is my private ip correct?
do you have a public v4? :p
well, what are some common things that are addressed often that don't have an article?
im so fucking confusedðŸ˜
o.o I just found out I have an IPv4 on my mobile data connection
I really don't think there are any :p
that could be useful.
thus the only things that would make it faster is removing the article or docs bit
(although tbh there are common questions, they just rarely have a single good answer...)
it's behind NAT of course but I'm not sure if it's full CGN, probably is...
on the other hand I don't actually have a public IPv6 on my PC
what the...
how'd that happen?
it is
I'm pretty sure it just has something to do with the type of service paid for and how the company it's done through is doing things, I'll note that it's a fiber-optic line
the IPv4 is static though which is neat
(for OP: this discussion isn't related to your server, though it is actually kind of relevant for server hosting)
Do i need to make a GSLT if im planning on my friend direct connecting?
yeah, it's required for that as well
ok
I did make a related oopsie a while back #staff-offtopic message
and yeah, that was caused by me changing my IP
I have since learnt to maybe not do a firewall whitelist for a specific IP instead of say, a domain, especially not on the server itself instead of using a provider solution
whenever my friend tries to join it says attempting connection and never stops
i have a GSLT
my server is listed
i followed everything on nelson's tutorial
🥺 🔫
i am able to connect but my friend isnt
@ancient yacht
bro please
been at this an hour and have literally made no progress
@ancient yacht @deft prairie
did you set it as a lan server or an internet server
