HELP ASAP Port Forwarding virgin media router

ancient yacht

udp, local start port 27015, local end port 27016, external same ports

tired treeBOT

assuming you're using the default port, otherwise any valid 2-port range will do (if you're not sure just use the default)

so to confirm, this config should work

#

only asking as this is the exact same as i tried a couple minutes ago and it didnt work(i was probs doing something else wrong)

#

left is local

#

right is external

ancient yacht
#

also need to set the local IP if you didn't set it

#

(ipconfig in command prompt on windows)

jaunty lance
#

yep got it

#

so now that i have this set up, i start my server from the dedicated server tool, correct?

ancient yacht
#

assuming you actually have a valid external IP the only other thing that could make it not work is a firewall

deft prairie
#

Wait, Karma

ancient yacht
deft prairie
#

doesn't Unturned use TCP as well?

ancient yacht
#

nope

#

just UDP

jaunty lance
deft prairie
#

Figured some of the UI plugin methods ensured usage of TCP to ensure gameplay affecting elements were properly sent.

jaunty lance
#

also thank you guys for the quick help i am eternally grateful

ancient yacht
#
  1. Enable UDP protocol.
    from the article :p
ancient yacht
#

but in general the server itself as well as at least any plugins that don't connect to remote hosts should work with just UDP

jaunty lance
ancient yacht
#

well, however you started the server in the tutorial should work fine

#

it's just the same thing after all, making an external script is generally recommended but not technically required

jaunty lance
#

is there a video or tutorial u could recommend?

deft prairie
#

Send him Nelson's one

jaunty lance
#

all the ones ive looked at are different and its driving me nuts

ancient yacht
#

anything made in 2020 or after should work tbh

jaunty lance
#

ok

tired treeBOT
ancient yacht
#

this is the official documentation

deft prairie
#

This one.

ancient yacht
tired treeBOT
ancient yacht
#

Jdance this really is so useful

deft prairie
#

I know right?!

#

Makes answering these tickets so much easier.

ancient yacht
#

realistically it just saves me from having to search the docs manually (though tbh I still have it open somewhere) but it's just convenient even if it functionally saves maybe 2 seconds

#

at least on PC that is, on a phone, well, whole other story

#

honestly I could probably write some of the common docs page urls from pure memory though :p

jaunty lance
#

also, if my friend is connecting to my server i send him my local ipv4 but what will he put as the port

#

27015?

ancient yacht
#

if you port forwarded and they're not at your house send them the external IP

#

and yeah, 27015 by default

jaunty lance
#

ok

deft prairie
deft prairie
#

not your private IP

ancient yacht
#

you'll also need to make and add a GSLT (as mentioned above)

ancient yacht
jaunty lance
ancient yacht
deft prairie
#

The bot sent an article about it.

ancient yacht
#

doing /support GSLT or even just GSLT would be even faster :p

jaunty lance
deft prairie
#

so one command with different params

jaunty lance
#

sorry ive literally only ever done an arma server before so this is all new

deft prairie
ancient yacht
#

your private IP here starts with 192

jaunty lance
#

ok yea thats what i thought

#

so its whatever ip i used to port forward

ancient yacht
deft prairie
#

Seriously Edge? IPv6?

ancient yacht
#

I could probably think of some nice new feature though :p - just not right now since I'm severely sleep-deprived

jaunty lance
#

whatever i put for local IP in this is my private ip correct?

ancient yacht
#

do you have a public v4? :p

deft prairie
jaunty lance
#

im so fucking confused😭

ancient yacht
#

o.o I just found out I have an IPv4 on my mobile data connection

ancient yacht
deft prairie
#

that could be useful.

ancient yacht
#

thus the only things that would make it faster is removing the article or docs bit

ancient yacht
ancient yacht
#

on the other hand I don't actually have a public IPv6 on my PC

deft prairie
#

how'd that happen?

ancient yacht
#

I'm pretty sure it just has something to do with the type of service paid for and how the company it's done through is doing things, I'll note that it's a fiber-optic line

#

the IPv4 is static though which is neat

#

(for OP: this discussion isn't related to your server, though it is actually kind of relevant for server hosting)

jaunty lance
#

Do i need to make a GSLT if im planning on my friend direct connecting?

ancient yacht
#

yeah, it's required for that as well

jaunty lance
#

ok

ancient yacht
#

and yeah, that was caused by me changing my IP

#

I have since learnt to maybe not do a firewall whitelist for a specific IP instead of say, a domain, especially not on the server itself instead of using a provider solution

jaunty lance
#

bro

#

im so done

#

still not working

jaunty lance
#

i have a GSLT

#

my server is listed

#

i followed everything on nelson's tutorial

#

🥺 🔫

#

i am able to connect but my friend isnt

#

@ancient yacht

#

bro please

#

been at this an hour and have literally made no progress

#

@ancient yacht @deft prairie

hoary pivot
#

did you set it as a lan server or an internet server
