Good mod combo for my first time

I beat Subnautica playing on Xbox series X and I just got a laptop. A strong one too. Would [de-extinction+return of the ancients+bloop and blaza+deathrun] be a good combo for my first time? Those are a lot of mods and I know that would be terrifying but all of those mods seem really cool. Do you think I should do them 2 at a time or what?? Also, where do I download mods? Someone told me, but someone else told me that return of the ancients wasn’t on steam. Idk

None of them are on steam. You should download all of them from Nexus Mods. Except Return of the Ancients. It can be found on their github ( #🌍┃related-communities , Architects of the Unknown, then go to mod-news)

Personally that seems like a nice combo. If you want i can personally recommend even more mods. There are lots to discover

All of them are free, yeah. Paid mods are againts UWE's agreements
And you could combine them! I would have just excluded bloop and blaza since its more of a youtube content mod, so it might just make the playthrough unplayable

For smaller ones - atrama, odyssey, the hydra
For bigger ones - the prototype is an extremely good mod, honestly. Also beluga
Also just look into Vehicle Framework, its used by most of the vehicle mods

Im honestly a biit concerned since its a laptop, but 5060 is a good videocard, even in its laptop config

If you’re able to run Subnautica with mods with 16GB and 1660 then I should be fine

Personally for me 1660 and 16gb is a stable benchmark for modding
You can run a good amount of mods with it

I used to play Minecraft bedrock edition with marketplace add ons and if I had too many it would mess things up so it’s unbelievable to hear that

No not really. It can be either on steam, on the xbox app or the epic store

Tho steam is usually recommended the most

Almost every mod is hosted on Nexus Mods, where you can either download them manually (download the file and unpack into the correct folder) or use vortex - an automated mod manager (not a mod loader)
I personally like doing it manually

I can go into the specifics if you want, but before that i should finish the actual instructions

Basically all you need to do is download tobey's BepInEx pack and extract everything into subnautica's folder
After that place everything into BepInEx > plugins
Keep in mind that there could be specific instructions in a mod's description

And you are basically done!

For organisation purposes i should also tell you that different modders pack mods differently
Sometimes its literally just the mod folder with the files inside, in which case just place it into plugins
Sometimes the packed structure looks like plugins > mod folder, i think you can kind of guess what you should do

This object is stored as different files on your computer - multiple objects which were created separately

And these files are stored in folders
You will find about that pretty quickly, dont worry about it

I might be describing it even more confusing than it really is 😭
But once you see it you will just go "oooo thats how it works"

Subnautica should be the same across all launchers, but its really weird that its lagging for you this much

I would personally try out steam

I have turned off my laptop, the game loaded, but it was slow even after I turned the graphics down.

whenever I first played it, I was scared like “oh no how am I gonna get out of here? Escaping isn’t working.” because on Xbox you just save the game, return to menu, and then you just leave Subnautica.

If you cant exit the game via normal means then there are 3 alternative methods:

1. Alt + f4
2. the win (or windows) button on your keyboard, then right click on the game's icon, then close the application
3. win, right click on the windows icon on the bottom left, task manager, find subnautica, kill it

After going to the deep lily pads biome and seeing seeing the all the squid sharks, and all the all the vent gardens, and all the dark murky waters where I can only see see 20 meters ahead of me, I just got off the game

I can’t do it

It’s too scary for me
