I need to grow them not on exterior growbed?
So I tried and it not working, maybe this is because when I getting close to this particles they disappear? I tried moving away and particles was dropping right on tonguelilies. So I dont know whats wrong.

on a technical level the colliders need to intersect
the particles fall farther than the "AoE" of the mushroom spores
Hey is there a proper way to get the databox in the void without attracting the ghost leviathans, i know of that sound module but as as soon as i exit the seamoth two more leviathans spawn and sometimes that lags the game really bad making it impossible to get the databox without dying. I've also tried using decoys.

I would of liked if the module worked if you are outside the seamoth as well. limiting the spawn to just one leviathan is fine as I'm able to use a decoy to distract it. Its just as soon as i exit the seamoth the two other leviathans spawn making it impossible to get the module without dying. @trail ether could that be implemented.
I explicitly made all three spawn to avoid people trying to rush it
If you are experiencing a lag apike on leaving that is rough. How long is the lag spike?

but for some reason it fires for those planted in freestanding pots, ie not parented to a base

sometimes you need to "miss" them first before they show up in the scanner room
when i was scanning for seamoth mk1 had 2/3 and the last one appeared only when i got physically close enough to it to make it "pop in"
Scanning rooms are like that yeah. If they are fucky swim in the area by them usually helps
scanner rooms can only find things that have been loaded in previously, in that game session
that is just how they are implemented

I know, but this might be the case like with the blood crawler larva. It was working for reika, but not for anyone else. And unlike larvae, there is no information on how tungsten grains should be obtained. Thats why Im still not sure if its bugged or not.

the void spikes worked well for me on my playthroughs before this update. i havent gone there yet on my new playthrough
i mean, the new update worked so well i had 0 lag on a machine with parts from 2014, but i only played like a couple minutes sooo

VRAM is not freed until you reboot your machine
every time it is allocated by something, it is gone "forever"
so if you boot the game 25 times you use up 25 game's worth of VRAM
this is what I was told in 2019, very forcefully when I was dubious
You can monitor vram in task manager though, this isn't windows 98 where system resources go to 95% and the system shits the bed
If that were true, I wouldn't be able to load and unload LLMs into my vram
I could maybe see it is some shitty unity bug where some portion of VRAM isn't properly freed and would cause issues with lower VRAM cards
i remember keeping my pc on for days or weeks on end on my rx 580 with 8 gb of vram, opened subnautica quite a few times, i didnt really notice any extreme vram usage

I set subnautica to realtime and affinity to just core 0 to see if i could work around it, and it locked up my system, waited like 3 minutes then rebooted my system, GPU was at like 85 degrees

Ok, so i can 100% confirm it is the deep vines in a planter box by my base
I was able to get the save game to load by setting the game's priority to High (but not realtime) and core affinity to 0, it was running at like 20 fps, but I was able to go out and harvest and dismantle the planter box, and save the game
once the planter was gone, I went to base, saved and quit
was able to load the game just fine like normal, created a backup of my save, and replanted the deep vines, waited for them to mature and saved again
now that new save is bricked in the same fashion
TreeColony has nothing to do with deepvine
that is for bacterial clusters

they plant still loaded, removing those textures did nothing, all i had to do was just sit and wait for it to load the deepvine and it fixed it

another thing im wondering: ||how do i harvest alkali vines? im not sure what constitutes avoiding detection; i attempted to freeze them with stasis once in the past to try to circumvent their defenses but the vines seemed unaffected, and i also tried to just take them out of the ground with a repulsion cannon when retracted which did work technically but didnt change me not being able to harvest them||

stasis did not originally work - so it depends on how far "in the past" is - but it does now, though it is neither the intended method nor available to you as your first method

i enjoy trying my best to figure out these things on my own but for dealing with something that seems to cause my game to break itd be nice to have a more clear answer
from what i remember you can add an extra moonpool and dock a seamoth in it and it either removes them or stops them from spawning
okay i can confirm there is now lag occurring now that theres a cloud of plankton at the base
its interesting though it seems like theres only one and yet its causing stuttering
so its not a bunch in the same area
since it seems like a bunch in the same spot makes it much more solid based on how the crops look
I'm not sure if this is a vanilla bug, but planting kelp in a 1 tall acu makes the kelp never grow but also prevents you from deconstructing the acu or building another room on top. Fixed it by turning on force deconstruct in the console
okay what ive determined so far: ||base plankton spawn if theres a hatch or a moonpool, they wont spawn below -500, they wont spawn in the void, they might only spawn in dunes, sea treader zone, grassy plateaus, and the mushroom forest? which would explain maybe whats going on here which is that this room is in the grassy plateaus right on the border of where the safe shallows end. which would explain why ive not had this issue in the other part of my base where there is a moonpool and hatch||
also that ||tonguelillies are whats meant to clear them it seems? but im not seeing anything happen from them, another plankton cloud spawned in already after growing them||

it seems to be all my base parts right now, getting rid of them slowly reduces the lag. i wonder if its something to do with them ticking to check if phytoplankton can spawn? im not sure if theres something with the first time they spawn to have triggered this to start happening though
because thats when this all started is when the phytoplankton first spawned
i guess now this is a question for @trail ether if theres any way initial phytoplankton spawning could possibly trigger continuous base lag? not sure if you could think thats a possible bug that could occur

this is a known thing I ran into in my dec 2023 playthrough; for some reason loading frmo inside a base often results in a much laggier session compared to loading outside

it didnt seem to be anything specific since the more pieces i removed the more the performance improved, it wasnt just one piece i would remove and suddenly everything was fixed
