shield Flat armour is now more prevelant in-game.

Wouldn't it be nice to know if a creature has flat armour or negative flat armour just by fighting it?

goldShield Pros:

  • Able to easily view it on mobile
  • easily know if you should swap to a faster weapon if a creature has negative flat armour or a slower hard hitting weapon for flat armour
  • Easier to distinguish for newer players

🛡️ Cons:

  • may not be wanted all the time, so toggleable?

Prof_Shieldbearer Note: Could have 3 options for it

  • Always on: shows on all creatures you fight
  • First hit on a npc per session: it would only show the flat armour icon on the first creature you fight during that session (fighting another creature and coming back would reset it to show once again. Alternatively, when you leave an area it resets instead.)
  • Off: for players who don't want to see it

I dont have problems with this but at the same time if weve been fine not seeing hm crush hm slash defence ele weakness etc explcitly then we would be fine without this

#

dont want a toggleable for every single defence in game. its more the slippery slope for me thats the concern

Agreed, I think wiki provides sufficient information about NPCs

I think 2 hitsplats for every 1 would be too much

I do think that community should have more discussions about flat armor though with it indeed becoming more common. Like the kraken getting flat armor of 15 was crazy, as was learning that "magic isn't affected by flat armor". Like, since when was that the case? Apparently forever but there's not very many relevant enemies

i agree ^^ One argument i'd say is flat armour is way more impactful than other defences since it straight up reduces or increases your max hit. though it is a completely different suggestion, moving a monster examine (or even a less detailed version) of the spell, to a right click option on monsters. could be a interesting work around to not having it on the screen. Perhaps it just says basic information like you were saying like "high slash def, negative flat armour" etc - rather than specific values (reserved for the spell)

i feel like this stuff is better suited for a plugin. like a very pouplar one that many ppl care about is defence lvl of a npc. and party plugin has solved that imo and also is really the only way to know actively currently. could do same with flat armor and other stuff

They could make the hit splat slightly different to show armor (without needing two entire splats). Even if it's just in the shape of a shield or something to show there is flat armor, even if it doesn't tell you the number
