This proposal introduces a Ring Holder, a new mega-rare reward from Raids 4 designed to hold, ehance and combine the effects of multiple rings. The item would function as a high-end utility upgrade while maintaining long-term scalability as the game evolves.

Similar to other mega-rare rewards—such as the Twisted Bow, Scythe of Vitur, Tumeken's Shadow—the Ring Holder would be designed with scaling mechanics that allow it to remain relevant as new content and equipment enter the game. These weapons have demonstrated strong longevity because their effectiveness adapts to future gear progression, enemy stats, or game systems rather than being locked to a static power level.

The Ring Holder would extend this philosophy to the ring slot, allowing players to insert two rings simultaneously. This would enable strategic combinations of ring effects without forcing players to constantly swap rings during combat or skilling. To make it more attractive, the item could even apply additional effectiveness to the inserted rings.

Importantly, the design would future-proof the item. As additional rings are introduced in future updates, the Ring Holder would automatically support them, allowing new combinations and strategies to emerge organically. This mirrors how existing mega-rare items continue to gain value when new bosses, gear, or mechanics are added.

Overall, the Ring Holder would:

Serve as a prestigious Raids 4 mega-rare reward

Allow two rings to be equipped at once through a single item

Scale and remain relevant as new rings and content are introduced

Encourage build diversity and strategic customization

Limitation:
To allow for a better experience, the item would not allow multiple of the same ring.

By following the precedent set by existing mega-rare items, the Ring Holder would provide a powerful but flexible upgrade that grows alongside the game’s future content.

They pretty specifically said they are aware of the double ring suggestions but are not fond of that idea for a mega. I think at some point in the future we will have something like that but its just not interesting enough gameplay-wise to be a mega

although a cool idea, its not impactful nor does it change much about the game, also this would be hard to work in as anything other than a unlock slot which immediately loses its mega rare purchase power or tradability.

it would not be a unlock slot, but a tradeable item that can hold multiple rings. the potential is insane. The options of which ring to equip will vary depending on content, and is highly scalable. We have to see beyond thi sidea that one ring will be lightbearer and the other will be say ultor. Content will define what options to pick. And let's not undermine how strong this actually is for anything other than a mega rare.

It is strong and yeah ofc youll use different rings but that doesnt change the fact that it does nothing gameplay wise. Its just a dps buff in 99% of situations which is pretty boring

you have to see beyond what we have right now. there will be more content added to the game, and it will open doors to different types of content

the potential is insane

Elaborate. In what situations would this be a significant change? What rings? Against what bosses? Because with the info you've given us, it just sounds like a stat buff equal to whatever the strongest ring in that situation is.

Unless you can't equip two of the same rings? Or you only get the stats of one, while the other only imparts passive effects? We need more info

#

I don't think we can rely on the notion that they might add better rings in the future. The DT2 rings are still relatively recent upgrades

normal canopy
#

the raid itself can make use of it by adding debufs that can be prevented by having a specific type of ring(s) dropped from the raid itself

#

dt2 rings are stat buff rings, there are plenty of things in the game, poison(venom), bleed, venom, prayer drain (arceus book), and much more

Id rather have them add both bosses and rings to support making this fun first, not add it in the hopes that it might be cool some day

I would 100% enjoy more rings with passive effects instead of (or alongside smaller) outright stat buffs

but we don't have those yet, and I'd rather not see a bunch if them introduced in the raid just to justify a different raid drop

the combination of lb with another ring will be very fun and strong at at the start, and new ring additions will make it scalable enough for a mega's health. Jagex has made some serious mistakes lately with oathplate, fang and confliction gauntlet from such easy content at such high drop rates, it makes it much harder to keep the game healthy while not giving them them possibility to scale in the future too much from that

This would just mean people camp lightbearer and ultor

@frosty sun Think bigger.

Also a bad president if irons now need 2 of every ring

normal canopy

i was thinking rings would have to be different types

Specify that.
Gamers will always squeeze the fun out of things with efficiency.

How is this balanced
How will people abuse it
What are the main points of functionality

let gamers do their thing and others do theirs. An item that works for all, skillers, pvmers and pvpers alike. Yet strong enough to make it a mega. The ring may even have a side effect that enhances the rings effects/status somehow (just added this to the recommendation)

Thr fact they have said they specifically don't want a second ring slot should be more than enough of an answer 🤷🏼‍♀️

normal canopy

that's what these proposals are for, it opens up conversations for things they have not have considered. What they think right now is not set in stone, they miss things all the time when designing items that have hurt the game

frosty sun

Here are the only combinations of rings people will use. It's not really a creative combo that you think it is

Melee
Ultor + lightbearer
Ultor + belator

Range
Lightbearer + ultor (for melee switch)
Lightbearer+ magus (for mage switch)

Mage
Magus + lightbearer
Magus + ultor

Leaving your thread

Again at first maybe yes depending on that raid's content. Not everything in the game is pvm, and that is coming from a GM with extensive PVM experience everywhere. Like i said, think bigger, not sure that is happening right now, but thank you for your feedback

could limit to 1 offense, 1 defensive, 1 utility

then categorize the lightbearer as an offensive ring and ring of the gods as defensive

offensive rings: self explanatory, lightbearer

defensive rings being: steel, brimestone, suffering, rotg (due to prayer bonus with suffering)

utility rings: gemstone rings (saph-dragonstone), endurance, celestial, ect (opens up other combat utility ring design spaces)
