#Update dragon platebody to 2009 version
115 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
For 7 years it has been looking like this. I don't understand why you are trying to change this now?
I haven't seen any big community complaints for the last 7 years, so I don't know if the majority of the community would really want this, sir...
Tf you editing and deleting your posts for?
I have not deleted anything, I edited with adding: "xD" and changed "seven" to "7" to make the text more easily readable and the meaning more clear.
Also, this current osrs dragon platebody looks like a red Rune platebody, while the dragon platebody released in 2009 is the correct version of the dragon platebody, and it's the one actual fans and veterans of the game recognise. It's the best version of the armour, and it's what should have been released in OSRS.
Having a platebody that looks like a recolour of a rune platebody is why nobody even wants to use it for the drip, it's ugly, and if this game calls itself OSRS it should use the accurate version.
Dragon is not usable in any scenario, it's outclassed by Bandos, Torva, and Oathplate. The only reason why any did use dragon or will use dragon is for the drip, fashionscape was big back in the day, and the dragon platebody with the full helm was a massive fashion statement, especially trimmed. Just an update, or an additional platebody would be fine.
osrs is a 2007 version of the game, pre HD etc. so you're wrong on that one.
the new design fits the old school aesthetic much better
its never been drip
Well the dragon platebody was released in 2008, Torva was released in 2011, and Oathplate never existed, neither did Masori. If we go by that logic then none of these armor sets should be in OSRS
youre stretching my logic, thats not what im saying at all
Because your logic falls by the wayside
it doesnt youre just very gung ho about wanting this useless change that no one cares about
The Torva armor set in OSRS is the same design as the one that was released in 2011, only difference is that they removed degrading, so maybe none of these armor sets should exist in OSRS if we go by your logic? The bis should be dragon chainbody and nezy helmet, not even the faceguard
youre assuming im saying that this game only has things from 2007 which is not the case
Your argument is that Jagex shouldn't update the dragon platebody to the 2008 release version because OSRS is the 2007 version of the game and the "new" red rune platebody design fits the old school aesthetic better. This logic falls far by the wayside when all of the bis armor sets and equipment in OSRS right now never existed in 2007 Runescape
i need you to read what you said again, slower, and realize how foolish you sound
And it's still RS2 because RS2 was released in 2004
the 2008 d plate is HD era, so the player model and plate model are inherently not old school, but has been modified to be, also, the 2009 version is WAY more iconic than the shitty 2008 version that didnt even fit right
Your logic just isn't there my guy, because Torva is the exact same as it's 2011 release version in the original Runescape
Torva isn't inherently old school and hasn't been modified to be, it's HD era the same as Dragon platebody.
its close but no its not, and has been modified
you're again forgetting HD era gave us new player models, and HD era isnt OS
Yeah they just opened the helmet up in OSRS
no, there are different models, plenty of differences including the sleeves, wasitline, neck, etc
Still a 2011 armor set, so if we are just sticking to 2007 era Runecape then the bis should be bandos and dragon chainbody, no Torva, no Oathplate, no Masori, Armadyl for ranged, Ahrims for mage.
In my opinion, the dragonplatebody in OSRS should either be replaced, or an aditional cosmetic upgrade or new body that reflects the original release version of the dragon platebody, preferably the 2009 version.
no one said that, your logic falls by the wayside
before you try saying more nonsense: no one cares about when things were released, only that they fit the aesthetic, which everything currently does
Torva, that was released in 2011, fits the aesthetic of OSRS does it? Mmm that's some weird logic there
it does fit the aesthetic of osrs in its current implementation yes
osrs is not the same game mechanically or item catalogue wise as the 2007 game, which doesnt matter, its stupid to think thats what people want.
we care about the visuals and interactions
I disagree completely. So you have Oathplate, Masori, that do not fit the aesthetic of 2007 Runescape, but you have an aversion to the 2009 version of the dragon platebody? seems like an odd double standard to take there chum
they do fit the aesthetic, aesthetic is about visuals. your logic is flawed, or you simply dont understand what aesthetic means
What about the dragon platebody released in 2008 does not fit the "aesthetic" of OSRS? while armor sets like Torva, Masori, does?
the fact that its designed for an entirely different player model
That's a stupid argument tbh because they used the same skeleton and armature rig just updated models and textures
now you just blatantly dont know what youre talking about, stupid idea, will vote no, but itll never see the light of day anyway
It's still RS2
You seem to have some incapability of understanding how your logic falls so clumsily to the floor, you have an aversion to the 2008 version of the dragon platebody being in the 2007 version of Runescape thats called OSRS, but you are fine with a 2011 Torva, Masori, Oathplate, (never existed in Runescape) all of these armor sets were not released in 2007 or before then, or never existed at all, and do not fit the aesthetic of OSRS. The Aesthetic of armor sets in 2007 Runescape were Bandos and Dragon chainbody, hell most average people their best was going to be Rune armor.
incredible misunderstanding of what aesthetic means, i recommend googling it
Masori and Oathplate do not fit the aesthetic of OSRS at all
they do, quite well actually. if you dont know what aesthetic means just say that
You are completely disingenuous in your arguments because you say that these armor sets fit the aesthetic of OSRS but Torva was released in 2011, with minor differences in the OSRS version, with different colors on the arms and an open helmet, by defintion, unless it has major changes that completely alter it to look like a Rune platebody like the dragon currently is, because we cant have the 2009 original version of the dragon platebody because it doesn't fit the aesthetic of OSRS? And the red Rune platebody does fit it? But the Torva that had no major changes, and came 3 years after the dragon platebody, does? Your logic doesn't make sense at all, and you are being obtuse on purpose.
If we go by your logic then I would suggest that the team behind OSRS make the Torva armor set to look like a purple and grey recolour of the Rune plate set
notice the spikes, decal on chest, thick calf regions, oathplate also features a plume which is present on every smithable metal fullhelm in the game
you simply dont understand my arguments, because youre clouded by your wild need to have YOUR preferred version of something and think "aesthetic" means "it has to look like barrows because thats what was in the game at the time! you cant add new things! thats not what aesthetic means!" which is CATEGORICALLY incorrect and you just simply refuse to see that.
Doesn't fit the 2007 Runescape aesthetic at all dude
If the Dragon platebody in OSRS does fit the aesthetic, then they should make the Torva armor set a purple and grey recolor of Rune, and remove Oathplate and Masori.
then you simply cant see design choices and fundamental guidelines so this conversation will go nowhere
No you are just being obtuse on purpose because you don't even understand how your logic doesn't make sense
the issue is not my logic at all, its your interpretation of my logic which is wrong btw. and also a gross misinterpretation of what the word "aesthetic" means
The OSRS version of Torva is virtually identic to the 2011 release version in the original Runescape apart from an open helmet and different sleeve colors, if we go by your logic that the 2009 version of the Dragon platebody does not fit the aesthetic of OSRS, then by that same logic, then Torva should not fit the aesthetic of OSRS either, because both of these armors were released after 2007.
And if your logic is that the dragon platebody in OSRS fits the aesthetic of OSRS because it looks more like a Rune platebody, then Torva should be drastically changed to look like the Rune platebody as well.
it is not and it takes 2 seconds to see that, but i dont expect you to know or understand this simple fact
Torva, Oathplate, should both have big round pauldrons so that they can fit the aesthetic of OSRS just like this ugly dragon platebody does, if we go by your logic, because those big round pauldrons like the ones on the Rune platebody were what the aesthetic in 2007 Runescape was.
they do, the picture is literally right there
Yeah you are being completely disingenuous and obtuse
The Oathplate pauldrons are the same size as the 2008 version of the dragon platebody, just look at them ffs
maybe you should go buy it in game so you can see how wrong you are
they just took a small sliver from the inside portion and made it black to look like separations in the armour
Infact I would say that the Oathplate set has more in common with the 2009 version of dragon than anything that ever existed in 2007, slender body, smaller pauldrons with more detail and decoration compared to Rune, both have clear differences between cloth and plate, I'd say that Oathplate would fit in the 2009 version of Runescape better than OSRS
And the OSRS version clips with skillcapes. Horrific.
yeah the original 2009 version of the dragon armor looks so much better, it looks like something a high lvl would still use, the current dragon plate set looks like something you might wear if you are broke or a noob lol i play on hdos so i see the good dragon armor lol
It would look super out of place
If we're gonna update any dragon armor we should make the helm not look so ugly
The med helm is iconic though
Med helm is good, full helm needs an update
Things that could have been
Not really when Torva is in OSRS
Quality of life update
Fr I would use it just cause its the OG drip, hell the Oathplate and Bandos, I need to kill shiz with drip
All my melee skills are 99 anyway
I did try gilded but tbh I think I prefer default more
How does it look like a rune platebody?
Gaudy =/= good and is usually the opposite. The dragon platebody already leans toward gaudy
What?
It's a red rune platebody with spikes on the shoulders and elbows
The original is miles better and looks distinctive from the others
looking good af
I don't remember the animated whip being in 2009
Or the spikes on the legs
And the combat style
Ohhh that was 2008 im thinking of
Rs3 wiki should have a history of all models of the gear
I remember that exact whip model .
Overall a lot of people including myself feel that 2008-era graphics are awful and worse than existing graphics, and this is also reflected by how small the population of HDOS players is. “HD” in RS2 was possibly a worse change than RS3 graphics and I don’t want to downgrade this game.
btw, you'll never get support if you're looking to completely replace current gear models, it's better to suggest it being an ornament kit
Completely incorrect about 2009 Runescape and comparing it to RS3 and saying its worse removes all credibility from your small brain
2009 Runescape was the absolute peak of RS2
But i wouldn't expect a kid that never played Runescape back then to understand
I did play lmao I started playing drastically less during late-RS2 due to the graphics, lore/quests/storytelling, summoning, dungeoneering, etc. taking the game in very bad an undesirable directions. The game went downhill long before EoC and the graphics are not excluded from that. Aside from all that I just like the OSRS/2007 graphic style and I don’t like “HD” where it’s just bad shaders and gaudy/overdone textures
The shaders can be bad on character models i will say that
But there’s no need for you to personally attack people for having a “wrong” opinion, especially when you’re clearly in the minority opinion. You’re making a lot of incorrect assumptions
Hdos has the option to turn HD off
I was like 10 in 2009. Did they add summoning then, or later?
Yeh no please take this back
insane thing to say
I looked it up. Summoning was in the game back then so this is objectively wrong.
I'll throw hands and words with anyone that puts shade on 2008/2009 Runescape
2013 was when it went to shit, and hdos has the option to tune the shaders
I tuned it to the 2008 version of RS
I’ve been wanting them to add the spiked ornament kit set. I feel like it would accomplish a similar look for the platebody as the default 2009 version.
I aint so sure about that one ngl
I use the default skin just cause I just like it more than gold, but now that I use hdos I might try it out with the attack cape
you remember it, i can hear it from memory XD
but yeah, the old d plate armor looks 10000 times better, it's unique, and not just recolored rune, it has the same vibe as armadyl and bandos armor, it's own thing thats both strong and good looking
it never needed an appearance nerf, it's supposedd to be special, thats orichalcum armor, the helmet from mithril dragons minimum and the platebody (originally from tormented demons as a boss drop)
it wasn't just an upgraded d chain, that set was an achievement and it is less with both a look nerf and and obtain nerf
Please refrain from bypassing the chat filter to insult other players.
It's fine for you to disagree with others, it's fine for them to disagree with you. You should be directing your energy towards convincing people that the change you want is a good idea rather than "throw hands" with anyone that doesn't like the aesthetic.
osrs dragon plate body/legs are waaaay too thicc they look like granite
thats the extra spikey version i believe, but yea it looks much slicker
