Yes to reworking corp, no to adding another shield

It's too strong and the game doesn't need another incredibly rare drop from an awfully designed boss

I can tell you only read the title and not the content of the suggestion itself but if you'd like me to elaborate on why that's not the case I'd be more than happy to do so.

You assume much of people

#

I read your post and gave my opinion. You are not owed more than this 😊

Okay well, you are wrong about the Divine though, and it seems you don't know why you're wrong so as I said I'd be willing to explain it to you if you'd like.

Saying I'm wrong doesn't validate your opinion over others. There's no room for a dialogue. Gl with your post

Your unwillingness to accept the possibility that you're wrong kinda proves I'm right so yeah gg

Refresher on what the differences are between the Elyisian and Divine for people who aren't familiar like the person above:

Elysian: 70% chance of reducing incoming damage by 25%

Divine: 100% chance of reducing incoming damage by 30%, but drained Prayer by 6% of the damage dealt, rounded up.

For example with a Divine if you would've been hit a 30, you'd instead be hit a 21, but lose 2 Prayer points. The Elysian only possesses a chance of lowering that same 30 damage to 23.

In practicality this isn't as powerful as people remember, it was powerful back in the day because there were super prayer pots, Summoning, Curses, armour sets that increase HP, etc. In many cases where you'd consider using a spirit shield, you'd often select the Ely over the Divine just to better preserve prayer points, and a few years ago it was thought the Divine wouldn't really be viable for anything other than PKing due to this fact. It's a little different now with prayer regens which I think could enable the Divine to be usable for other content though, and at least be more competitive against the Ely than previously thought.

#

Examples of where the Divine would be pretty viable are like first Inferno KCs, ToB solos, Nex solos, stuff like that is where the Divine would really make a difference. In all honesty for a majority of content you'd still be using mega rares or DPS shields so I personally don't see the issue surrounding the Divine, and the fact it almost passed a poll several years ago when the threshold to pass was higher supports this.

Ely isnt used anywhere. What difference would an ely with drawbacks make

Personally my vested interest for wanting the Divine is mostly RS2 nostalgia but also because I think it would help enable Nex solos which are currently notoriously difficult to do, and making Nex more feasible to solo would not be a bad thing especially for irons.

If it had a different effect msybe like reducing debuff durations

Divine would mostly just be what it was originally which is a status symbol for bankstanding FashionScape lol, and it would have niche uses for soloing difficult content like ToB or Nex, but it would still be super rare and would give Corp a worthy chase drop to help push the drop rework through, like the first Divine sigil would easily sell for over max cash and they'd probably settle to around 1.5b and stay there for a good while.

divine is the prettiest shield Happie

I don't see any positive to adding the Divine spirit shield, you're either making something that's still not going to be used like the Elysian currently is, and therefore isn't worth adding, or you're making something that's far too powerful for what the boss is. Aside from these factors, presumably the Divine sigil would be rarer than the Elysian, and that doesn't make any sense either - the boss already has obscenely rare drop rates.

sage olive
# left geyser I don't see any positive to adding the Divine spirit shield, you're either makin...

Incorrect. The way sigils originally worked was you'd roll a sigil at 1/512 and then it would split further from that, 1/8 chance for Divine and Ely, 3/8 for Spectral and Arcane. The way they adjusted this for OSRS is by omitting the Divine's 1/4k rate altogether, but they didn't buff the other sigils rates (1/4k, 1/1.3k, 1/1.3k), since they stayed the same, the sigil rate actually lowers to 1/585. So actually, adding the Divine and thus restoring Corp's original sigil rate of 1/512 would actually make getting at least a sigil a bit easier. It wouldn't be rarer than an Ely, but the same rate as an Ely. And this would increase the rate for rolling the sigil table by around 10%.

#

Also, the Divine is really just an alternative to the Ely, I don't think it's inherently stronger or weaker it just depends on the specific use case. Either way it should be polled separate from any rework itself though, but both would pass anyways so yea

All I'm seeing are more reasons to vote no

80% of the community would disagree with you so I don't really care if you feel that way lol

The community is notorious for voting for bad content baited by nostalgia from RS2/3

You act like that's a bad thing when most of the pre-EoC/RS2 content was pretty good and very popular. It sounds like you're the one who is out of touch with the playerbase though, not me. You can't give me any actual reasons why this would be a negative or unhealthy change and that's because there isn't one. You just hate the game and don't like good content apparently.

I'm a big fan of the vast majority of content in the game, but most of the content that is mediocre to straight-up bad is copied or barely adjusted from RS2/3. You can't give any actual reasons why this would be a positive or healthy change, even yourself saying that it would only be an alternative to gear that already isn't even used.

Making the droprate more common to get a sigil isn't a positive change either with the way that Sigils currently exist in the game. "Making getting at least a sigil a bit easier" isn't a good design objective by itself, and if anything it would only be a bad thing for people that have already "completed" the Corp collection log.

If an item with the effects of the Divine spirit shield were added to the game, I would not make it come from the Corporeal Beast, but rather new content, and would make it a completely different item and design. Aside from these factors, the Corporeal Beast, even with loot adjusted as proposed, would not be something that makes sense to have any more uniques come from; it already has 3 distinct drops and the table doesn't need to be bloated any more. You'd be giving a massive and unwarranted increase to the expected value per-kill and also massively increase the expected kills to completion (even if not rarer than the Elysian (which it should be, if it has a stronger effect), the time-/kills-to-complete the drops will increase just by statistics/probability).

The game went downhill long before EoC, especially with things like summoning and lore/storytelling, but many other aspects as well, and "People liked RS2!" isn't a good argument for copying content that doesn't make sense in modern OSRS.

#

You're taking what I said completely out of context. RS2 is a very different game that was played entirely differently. You don't see people swarming to Soul Wars or Castle Wars, and the playerbase is entirely different. People voted overwhelmingly for Soul Wars, and the vast majority of players will never even play the minigame because it sucks

#

I don't think a supermajority of players would vote for it if they actually considered beyond nostalgia. Bad content isn't made better if you thought it was good when you were 8 years old, people just vote for it and then realize later it actually sucked.

#

I have been nothing but cordial in presenting logical arguments, I fail to see how making a valid dissenting argument is "insufferable" or makes me "cancer to the community." If anything you are significantly more stubborn in your opinions than I am.

#

Oh, he deleted the post. I guess he doesn't actually think his idea is worth defending.
