Sailing had a successful release, with only minor hiccups and (often hilarious) harmless bugs. However, a few things stick out as either less-than-mid, or just outright annoying. Let's make a pass at improving the pain points

Misplaced facilities: are you one of those that placed the crystal extractor 2 feet away, and can't use it? How did you feel when you discovered this error, and wasted 2m to replace it? No yeah, I imagine that would feel pretty awful, especially when shipbuilding has been so flexible, only for this flaw to rear its ugly head.
add an option when editing a facility to allow it to be picked up and moved

Boat smothering: Many events give you the "can't interact with something under your boat" if you try to collect them underneath. This can be annoying, seeing as how your instinct is to click the box in front of you, inevitably parking right on top.
force objects to shift away from the bottom of a boat, or remove the restriction altogether

Lantern Harpooning: If you didn't know this was a thing - don't worry, you're really not missing out. Of all the cool new features this update, lantern harpooning has to be the most mid additions to the game. Besides being just a retexured swordfish spot, there's no visual change, no mechanical difference, and it's just... lame
darken the screen on the peninsula, change the fishing bubbles to spots that can be baited with offcuts. Your character then holds a lantern over the water to see shadows in the water. Squid will either be harpooned after a few ticks, or quicker with manual clicking. offcuts spawn 1-3 squid, while fine offcuts spawn 2-5

Keg (facility): Ever place one of these on your boats, fill it up, then realize you need to make another trip for a glass to enjoy it? Well, would it surprise you to know that there are two cups, just sitting on the bottom shelf?
add a "drink" option to kegs, removing the need for an extra glass

If you have other grievances with sailing, add them below!

Or remove the need for the beer glass entirely and let us drink straight from the tap. Like some kind of raging alcoholic barbarian

One minor thing that always bugs me - you can't open the cargo when using the net. You can when using the hook, so what's different? You have to hop off the net, open the chest, do your business with crate-ing fish, then click the net again

Lately, some of the click boxes for menus have been larger than the menu itself. While minor, it does get annoying when you expect the screen to close if you click outside. Better mapping the click area to the resolution of the menu would fix this annoyance

On the topic of lantern fishing can we please make Squid Paste a Stackable item?

It’s a secondary component in herblore for one of the lowest tier potion. But the analogous secondary for the higher tier potions, Crab or Rainbow Paste are already stackable. This seems like an oversight.

Lantern fishing feels rushed honestly. It's a shore fishing spot that can't decide whether it wants to be bankstanding to process the paste, or boat-centric to use the chum station. It really just needs to be reworked.

I don't think it feels rushed, the very first proposal always made it presented as exactly what it is - it was always fated to be dead-on-arrival content

#

I was saying that since day 1 of the blog

It isn't meant to be bis for anything, it's a mid food, a rare, midgame weapon, a mediocre source of offcuts for future fishing, and a secondary for one of the most niche healing items. But damn, could they have done more than make it a swordfish spot clone. Even just the ability to fish from the boat would have been novel

You have a weapon that's not relevant remotely at the levels you can make it, food that's slower to get and worse than alternatives at the same level, and overall proposed as literally just "harpooning, but you use a lantern"

novel pivot
#

If it didn't have the adamant dart restriction, it would actually be a sidegrade to the toxic blowpipe. Yes, it's not making any waves in the current meta, but just like all the other weapons added in this update, it's "good enough"

#

And I'm actually fine with that. We've had enough weapons (looks at toa) that have upset the balance, that getting "fair" weapons is a good thing. But aside from the rewards from lantern fishing, the activity itself is just... lame and uninspired, like it was an afterthought

Something that has been frustrating me: coral has only 1 harvest life. Which means that you either get single digit yields, or upwards of 50+ per patch. And often I'm getting less than 5. Coral should be more like seaweed, where the extra harvest lives make the yield more consistent

Since they said they will nerf the exp from the Crystal Extractor and spread some of that exp into other things:

I suggest taking a lot of it into "Trimming" the sails, just because that's such a core thing about sailing gameplay and that it also incentivizes using the boat more for traveling or just sailing around, giving a good base exp for just roaming around like a sailor

Honestly I just wish the click box for the cargo hold could be a lot bigger. So often I un-set my sails to give myself a chance to rummage through storage only to re-set the sails with bad click. You've got the whole bow of the ship that's not doing anything... make it the cargo hold?

Trimming sails on a rosewood boat is huge exp chunks for a level 1 sailor on his level 99 sailing friends boat

#

Theoretically the trim value should scale to the users skill level not the mast/sails type to prevent this interaction.

ideally, the crystal extractor nerf should have just reduced the rate at which the extractor charges when idle. That would have been a fair enough buff to other activities (barracuda trials, trawling, port tasks) while still nerfing afk salvaging

It needs to uncap speed or it's not a substantial buff
Make it uncap speed and you can safely remove all xp from extractor
