#Sailing with friends should be as rewarding as sailing Solo

Jmods haven't answered questions about group sailing (from what I could find) so excuse the speculation.

Exp from facilities is likely to be static. Firing a cannon for example could give 100 sailing experience to the person that fires it. That means that if you have a friend join your ship, the 100 exp that could have been yours will instead be theirs, and the exp you might get from fixing a sail will also not be shared.

There's legitimate reasons to do this, the boosting market for loads of activities is massive and I think Jagex and players don't want people selling sailing boosts - I agree.

However from Forestry we've learnt that Jagex have the toolkit to hinder "free exp" and because of that I think group sailing could be rewarded fairly with a multiplier.

Essentially, players could only be awarded exp on a ship if they've interacted with a facility recently enough. Recently enough should be applicable in the sense of a reasonable cycle of experience. For example if a ship luffs every 20 seconds, then experience should be awarded for an interaction within the last 40 seconds.

Through this, Jagex could do a flat XP multiplier by the number of player crewmates, 200%, 300%, 400% based on active players.

For example a ship with three players, but one AFK, would gain a 200% exp multiplier for the two players that are active, with the third player receiving 0 experience.

The result is people can skill solo or with friends without being negatively impacted either way, with preference largely determining which is better. Of course we can probably expect interactions like 2t salvaging or other carved out niches to potentially influence one being better than another ultimately, but the portion of the playerbase that would go to these lengths should be neglible in influencing group sailing being viable.

I'm hoping we can get some responses about group sailing from JMods so there can be a more informed discussion about this before release

I dont think I fully understand your suggestion, are you suggesting that all xp gains should be increased by the number of players on the ship that have interacted with a facility recently?

under the understand that whoever uses the facility is the oen that gets the xp

#

be that from salvaging, trimming the sail, or firing the cannon

port task would be the one assigned the task and that person would have to be the one who collected the items for the task/delivered the crates

the only activity that would be unclear is how the xp would be given when multiple people are deep sea trawling on the same ship

Yeah so im a bit confused, does that mean someone could get like 4x (or more) range xp by sitting on the cannon attacking a mob while the other players are goofing around with other facilities?
