#OSRS friendly Vorago

Phases 1-3 are similar to RS3. Phase 4 is different, and is a phase where vorago is stunned by the player's skill at combat. While Vorago is thinking of how to defeat the players he throws out occasional bombs that the players need to tank while the players have the opportunity to resupply around the instance similar to peril of moons. Players can also weaken vorago for phase 5 but interacting with the environment. To speed up kills players can interact with other parts of the environment to skip phase 4.
Phase 5: Much the same as phase 5 in RS3 - a DPS check. However, vorago's strength now scales based on if he was weakened in p4.
Of course, Vorago's RS3 stats would need to be changed for OSRS compatibility. Additionally, drops would be different based upon if you fought him in a 6+ group size, 2-5 group size, or solo. For solo encounters Vorago 'admires your honor in combat' and has reduced mechanics. There could also be an enrage system so that vorago's difficulty can scale to increase drop value or decrease difficulty for reduced drop rates.
Sounds fine enough as a boss for osrs, people who played it on rs3 would probably have to comment and give some more context if these changes make sense and would lead to a fun encounter.
Questions i have would be does this make sense in osrs from a lore perspective? Was it tied to a quest we dont have in osrs yet? What loot exactly would it drop and why bring this boss over instead of designing a new boss with new lore for osrs?
You were saying the reason for making this suggestion is that you "miss the more mechanically intense pvm" from rs3, i have to wonder what pvm content you actually did in osrs so far. Because we kinda really dont have a lack of high intensity content if you want to do it
in RS3, Vorago woke up after Guthix was killed, and it was possibly due to Guthix dying
And with the next big pvm project being raids 4 i dont see this being a consideration anytime soon anyways
So world wakes thing if i vaguely remember correctly?
yeah Guthix dies in The World Wakes
From what I remember the reason for Vorago existing in RS3 is not OSRS lore friendly, so a new quest may need to be introduced. Maybe the Mahajarat returning to Gielinor is what caused Vorago to awaken to avoid another God Wars? I haven't done a ton of OSRS PvM content (no raids that is), my basis for this was that from what I have seen thus far in my own OSRS adventure is that a lot of things are movement based, I need to avoid things on the ground or I need to be tick or near tick perfect on my interactions. I haven't played nor seen anything quite like the way Vorago is set up. Another boss instead of vorago would certainly be an option, really what I feel would be most interesting would be an encounter similar to him in principle or style.
I mean yes the hardest content is osrs is a combination of perfect movement, perfect prayers and gear swapping. Since thats kind of all that the game allows. Im not really sure how this boss would be different from that or introduce anything new? It all sounds like dodging, tanking, stopping dps, running away from the boss which is nothing new. And i cant speak of rs3 combat but there are quite a couple of osrs encounters that are extremely mechanically challenging and can require multiple perfectly accurate clicks per tick so if you miss that you should really start working towards those, there is some great content to do
Edit: Ok i watched a video of the boss and while i probably dont understand a lot of it it seems like the only "new" mechanic introduced is that you can like climb on some walls and click some things? Seems fine, wouldnt be opposed to a mechanic or two like that in osrs but i dont really feel like its quite as innovative or different as you made it out to be
I suppose I will work towards those encounters you reference then. There are other mechanics as well beyond the first phase you saw but mostly its a combination of what's already been done before. I wouldn't call it innovative as much as a different way of approaching the existing mechanics.
I mean i probably came across a bit harsh, wasnt meant that way. I was just a bit confused by the premise of wanting more mechanically challenging content in osrs when you havent done any of the mechanically challenging content. I am all for osrs expanding the design space for pvm and more of the environmental stuff could be a way to do that. I will say though that id rather have the devs design new unique encounters rather than just copy paste things from rs3!
No worries, I could have communicated better on that point! Yes, I agree that new encounters are probably the better option. This was just a late night thought that I had!
Weekly rotation alone is a huge no to me, but I also just don’t want to copy a boss from RS3.
Your description also just makes it seem very much just like another chip damage simulator like Nex
Enrage also is a big no to me, also not a fan of mechanics changing based on group size
Oh, it got deleted. But yeah pretty much seemed like “copy RS3,” without much rhyme or reason
