Right now, sorting your bank is a manual job, you drag every single item into place. If you’ve got 800+ items, that takes hours.

With proper sorting and filters, you just click one button:

  • Want all your potions lined up by dose? → Sorted instantly.
  • Want your gear split by combat type? → Done in seconds.
  • Want all your Herblore items grouped together? → One filter, no dragging.

Instead of dragging hundreds of items, the system does it for you. What currently takes hours of clicking could be done in under a minute.

feel hours is a little exaggerated, and thats what happens when you leave a mess till the last minute before having to leave

I really dont understand how this would work in practice. It sounds like Jagex would need to manually tag every item in the game for like their individual skilling/combat/etc usefulness inside the bank tab so that people can sort for it. Not to mention sorting in just like "combat usefulness" doesnt do anything for all your skilling items, and if you sort for "skilling (fishing)" or whatever, then same problem arises

Thanks for your reply!

In the first i have been thinking about "sort on price" and sort on "name".
This would be a huge improvement in my opinion.

My bank is a mess, and a lot of the items change. Sometimes i need to sell items, than i use ">50k" in the search, and that is already helpful.

But the items listed from cheapest to most expensive would make it a lot easier to sell certain items to buy what i need.

I understand this is useless for most people in the end game, but in start and mid game i think this is a good improvement.

For the sort on name, it would be easy to sort my potion, jewlery and maybe more tabs.

The rest are random thoughts, and i hoped that people would reply what would be even better in their opinion.

About jagex tagging items, that would be minimal. 99% would be automated in the time we live.

Your last line, I dont think you actually understand how these processes work lmao. You cant just say "oh surely its all automated these days"

#

As for the price/name, that seems ok, but the real solution is just to actually take the time to organize your bank, sure it might take you an hour or two to get it right, but then its much easier to maintain, and you can even have a "junk" tab you dump loot/whatever into

Lol, I do understand how this works. Items already carry a huge amount of metadata in their definitions slots, bonuses, stackability, doses, tradeability, etc. Sorting/filters aren’t magic, it’s literally just exposing that data as tags and letting the client index it. That’s why automation is possible. No one’s saying it’s a free toggle Jagex can flip tomorrow, but don’t act like the data isn’t already there.

#

But ffs, i think its an good idea and you don't. Ok have a good day!

Feel like bank tags can also do this or just by having a slightly more orginizaed bank (my bank is a mess so i just focus on organizing bank tags and it works better in general for my skilling/pvming needs)

I get what you mean with bank tags, and yeah they can solve part of it, but the point is that tags are still a manual system. You have to create them, keep them up to date, and know what to search for.

What I’m suggesting is something more universal: built-in filters and sorting that just work out of the box. That way players don’t all have to reinvent the wheel with their own tag setups. It saves time, lowers the barrier for new or returning players, and makes bank management a tool instead of a chore.

Why should every single player spend hours organizing, when the game could handle the basics automatically for everyone?

i kind of get it ur saying like if you search gear itd pull up all your gear and further filter it by high lvl gear? i think its useful to make bank tags/ur bank more organized for sure.

Think of it like a webshop: sort high → low or low → high, or sort on name so all Prayer potion (1/2/3/4) line up next to each other.

That makes stuff like decanting easier. But also finding stuff. If the filter is enabled by default, you don’t end up with Prayer (1) way above Prayer (2) just because you didn’t have a slot for it yet.

And it would be cool to have different sorts on different tabs.
So my potion tab is sorted on name.
But my slayer tab is sorted high → low

#

And if you make an item favourite, it will be always above the rest.

#

And yeah indeed, if you have a button ranged, melee, magic that would make it very fast to switch gear

as an avid procrastinator, i know this process very well, and that you have to keep ahead of it, less you start using excuses to not want to do things

that being said, to do this (at least most of this) would take tagging items with keywords so they'd be able to be able to be sorted

then imagine the increased demand on the script that runs the banking code (one of the most used and executed, see sailing blog) to further stress the engine

Only a sort high → low or low → high, or sort on name so all Prayer potion (1/2/3/4) line up next to each other makes will bank organizing and usability a lot better (in my opinion)

"only" is a very oversimplification to what yr asking

You tell me its hard to implement an option "sort a/z", "sort high -> low". In what code language is that more than 1 or 2 lines of code?

i know it will be more code for the full topic, but just an sort option isnt high math

Guys, thanks for the discussion. I've made a screenshot to explain my idea a little bit better. I close this topic and open a new one. Because there i can't add the screenshot here.

I do think a bit better sorting by default on the client would be nice, just not sure if they can physically do it
Hopefully the plugin API on official would enable vanilla bank sorting, though.

So basiccaly i deleted the post because i did not had the option to add an screenshot. But there is no option to add an screenshot,

I've simplified the idea and here is the edited post.

Bank management is still one of the clunkiest parts of OSRS, and more sorting/filter options would make a huge difference in day-to-day gameplay. Here’s what i think that could improve it:.

Sorting options
• By value (low → high / high → low)
• By name or ID (so items like potions or ores stack in natural order)

• By combat style itself (stab/slash/crush/ranged/magic)

Quality of life
• Option to pin certain items to always stay at the top of a tab
• Sort options per tab.

Imagine opening your potion tab and having all doses lined up perfectly, or being able to filter your skilling tab by skill with one click. Bank organization would stop being a chore and start being a real utility.

Howdy, let's please keep it civil and not resort to direct insults. Thank you. 😃
