#Can Dorgesh-Kaan be free from breaking grapples?

Currently the mith grapple will never be destroyed within the Hallowed Sepulchre or while doing the Shayzien Agility Course but not Dorgesh-Kaan.

You can also fail the obstacle normally so a 1/25 chance to stop you from using the course at all seems extremely overkill on top of that. Plus the course requires energy and breaks the machine parts if you ever fail. There's just way too many negatives.

Ideally just removing the 1/25 chance for the grapple to be destroyed would be very cool.

Just remove it from all grapples

Can't devalue the fletching cape and the grapple sink. /s

Yeah it's a dumb mechanic

I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen a grapple break, weird. Maybe they’re afraid to misbehave since I’ve abandoned so many after hopping to Kree

#

Honestly should just let the grapple from sepulchre (since you have to earn it anyway) be useable outside of sep and not break

It's hard to understand what the point of the grapple portion of the course was for on release because it was even worse then. Most of the grapple shortcuts you just see in the game kinda makes sense for the 1/25 chance because its one use even though it still really sucks and none of the shortcuts really do anything great

#

But the agility course in Dorgesh uses it six times if you do it back and forth

#

and like I said, you can just fail the obstacle so you'd need to repeat the grapples

#

You go through grapples so often here. I can't post pictures atm but I had two grapples break and then fail the last obstacle. It's crazy how unlucky you can get

As an option.

Of course but my point is that it's like unusable lol

Yeah it's not a great feeling

If I had to guess, the idea in general of grapple stuff was to make it a resource cost in the game.

#

The Dorgesh-Kaan course is unique in that you can traverse it two different ways, each providing different XP:

  • The long route that gives Agility XP only
  • The short route (grapples) that give Agility XP, Ranged XP, and Strength XP
#

In that sense, it's somewhat understandable that if you're gaining Ranged XP, perhaps you want to allocate a resource cost. In the same way other Ranged training uses up ammo.

#

However, I think in modern OSRS, players just tend to get fed up with grapples being used up.

#

When it comes to the grapple shortcuts, there could be other solutions devised to make them better (such as somehow using Construction, or somehow rewarded from the Ranging Guild, or the Sepulchre grapple being available outside the minigame).

#

For the Dorgesh-Kaan Agility course specifically, it might be best to just make it break-free to not interrupt training.

#

Especially since there's already precedence:

The mith grapple will never be destroyed within the Hallowed Sepulchre or while doing the Shayzien Agility Course.
