#Fletching Knife work with Felling axe or equip it to Forestry kit bag

true but then it wouldn't take up a slot
I thought you may be able to use wood on wood to open up the menu but that does work
That's what I suggested in another post about the equipable knife
ok anything happen
You need the knife in your inventory to fletch anyway so I don’t see any reason to make this change. The knife shouldn’t even have an equip option in the first place and there doesn’t need to be a way to fletch with it equipped
The Fletching knife didn't need to have an equip option. But, it would be arguable that a wieldable knife has some use in niche cases (e.g. setting some Hunter traps).
There could be alternatives to avoid having a wieldable knife. But I think it's nice that one exists, in case it helps out in current use cases and future situations. So to some extent it's a good thing the Fletching knife is both a Fletching benefit and a wieldable knife.
Using logs on logs to do a Fletching action would be a bit weird to me.
yeah but you get what i am going for
Yeah, but it's a bit weird.
The action you want is to use the knife on the logs - so for that, you need the Fletching knife in your inventory.
Any idea of being able to fletch without clicking on the Fletching knife in your inventory is a bit controversial, partly because it's a whole new concept, and partly because it could then be used as an argument for other aspects of the game (e.g. make Costume needle wieldable).
i guess just would be handie
When you say it like that, why isn't there a shortcut for recipes like leather crafting? It already exists for birdhouses, being log+clockwork
Log on log would just be a recipe shortcut to knife on log, just like super combats can use any combination of torstol/Ss/Sa/Sd
Yeah idk about "a bit weird". It's the work around when having the knife equipped. It actually makes more sense to me than not
And as for the knife in your inventory - it can be equipped and still give the effect... but you need a knife in the inventory to kickstart the crafting... completely undoing the purpose for an equipable knife anyway
Why would you need a shortcut for leather crafting? You just use the Needle/Costume needle on the leather.
And at least to me, it's not really comparable to Log + Clockwork.
The feeling it's "a bit weird" is precisely because it's a workaround when having the knife equipped.
If a workaround needs to exist to make it work well, then there's probably something kind of wrong with the initial design.
Agree but weird is a stretch that's all
Hmm, would you describe it differently?
At least to me, we normally use one item on another item to do something with both items. Normally to craft something - so Log + Clockwork makes sense because the Birdhouse is a product of the two.
But Log + Log generally doesn't make sense - only really in the case of wooden shields. So at least to me, it would be a bit weird for such an action to do all fletching.
If anything, wielding a knife automatically adding a right click -> Fletch action onto logs would make more sense to me over Log + Log.
But I'm not really sure about that. It can sometimes feel not very oldschool - I think Jagex also had that opinion.
Then what of black dhide+black dhide, does that not entail a recipe using black dhide? This extends to guthix rest as well, using any of the components on each other will prompt the relevant recipe
The issue you will run into when you start adding menu options, is whether they're added by default, or they simplify some form of tick manipulation. The knife already comes with the caveat that is not useful for that already
Perhaps I've misinterpreted something, but I don't understand this.
You can't use dragon leather on another dragon leather to bring up a crafting prompt. You need to use the Needle/Costume needle on the dragon leather to do so.
And you can't use e.g. Guam leaf on Harralander leaf to create Guthix rest. You need to use a herb on the Cup of hot water to do so.
Are you suggesting you should be able to?
Right - there are issues you'll run into if you start adding menu options.
Of the two ideas though:
- Adding a menu option
- Using Logs on Logs
I think the former would make more sense to me. In my opinion, there's more precedence for that - the Celastrus bark has a Fletch option.
Bear in mind though, I'm not really sure about that. I don't really like either option, to be honest.
