#Avernic Defender dismantle

Because when dismantling other pieces of gear like the demonbane weapons, usually the thing that is easier to obtain is lost
Well I don't know about you; but I'd rather not have to go back and get a Dragon Defender. Also, it's a money sink which means you're not supposed to get your money back, which is why people say to save the Avernic Defender as one of the last melee upgrades because of just how minimal of an impact it makes. If you're making a hasty decision and going out and getting the Avernic Defender that costs millions of gp thinking it's well worth it, that's your own fault.
Almost every single piece of fused gear after TOB's release can be dismantled for little to no cost, it's an arbitrary restriction at this point. Why keep such an outdated mechanic?
Avernic treads can be dismantled at the cost of demon tears which are cheap
Yeah, and those items from TOB you say can be dismantled both carry charges (Scythe and Sang Staff). The Avernic Defender is a permanent upgrade which is never supposed to be taken off under ANY circumstances whatsoever or else it's a huge loss. Avernic Treads is a whole different story and piece of content.
I didn't say other gear from TOB specifically, I said other FUSED gear, like the enhanced saradomin sword, toxic staff of the dead, nightmare staff etc.
You also clearly didn't read the part where I said someone might need to dismantle it in times of emergency, like when a significant loss occurs and someone may need to rebuild their bank
Ok, well the Blood Fury does the same thing but it too has charges, and guess what; the Shard breaks. Same goes for Tentacle Whip, Blessed Saradomin Sword, and the Echo Boots. Nightmare Staff can be dismantled for the orb, and Toxic Staff for the Magic Fang. Also, it would be wise to not get the hilt in the first place in case such an emergency were to ever arise.
Don’t bet the farm?
So your answer to not being able to dismantle the avernic defender is to just... not make it in the first place?
Well yeah, because it's intended for people who can afford it anyways. If you know you can't make back the money, then why buy it?
Why does it make sense for every other "upgrade" to be dismantled returning the more expensive component, with the avernic def being the only exception?
I don't know; save that question for Jagex. They're the ones who made the game after all.
That's... why I made this thread
Alright, that's fine. I just felt like putting my opinion out there.
Unexpected losses can occur at any time
Like what (excluding wildy/PVP scenarios)? Genuinely curious
I feel like I saw you say something about DCing and dying otw back to hydra and tbh DCing was the only reasonable answer I could come up with. However, my response to that would be to address the root issue rather than apply a bandaid fix, see https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1394110593216282744, https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1408304433137193082, https://discord.com/channels/324132423636090880/1359238224555413686
