One of the appeals of our group iron is that we get to share in the drops that we get. It is unfortunate that when you create a corrupted bofa you are suddenly unable to share with your groupmates. Knocking out venator shards and godwars drops with the group is really fun as we get to all benefit from our progress. It feels sad that we do not get to experience this with the gauntlet.
#Make Bow of Faerdhinen (c) tradable for GIM.

gauntlet grind is just part of iron 🤷♂️
and eclipse gear isnt much worse in a lot of places
Every grind is part of the iron experience. Part of the fun of the Group Iron mode is that it is different than the normal ironman experience in that you have friends to share things with.
Just don't corrupt it and you're good.
Yeah, this post is specifically about the corruption process making an item worse for GIM. Not corrupting the bofa defeats the purpose of the suggestion 🙂
It’s a pretty valid tradeoff, just keep it low-charge and you can put in a few shards as needed and swap it back and forth
I don't understand why there needs to be a trade off. Pretty much every other item we have can be freely traded between us.
It’s literally as simple as what items are tradeable. You’re playing a game mode with restrictions on it that are extremely straightforward
Ah, you understand. And the point of this post is to propose a change to the status quo!
Where do you draw the line? I don’t think it’s a good precedent to make untradeables tradeable. It would make significantly more sense to make the corrupted bow tradeable before making this change work just for GIM, but that’s an even worse proposal
Currently I draw the line at the Bow of Faerdhinen (c). Ah, your concern is that the infernal cape is next. However, that isn't what I'm proposing. Just a bow that is tradable at one point and not tradable at another point. Not really sure why that is "an even worse proposal". If it isn't what other people want, then they shouldn't be affected by it. Trading a bofa amongst groupmates won't have an impact on other players who don't play GIM.
If an item is untradeable to mains, it should stay untradeable to gims aswell.
All types of ironman game mode are an extention to the main game, and those gamemodes shouldnt posses buffs that the mains cant access
I am not a main account and cannot speak for what they want. However, saying that mains don't want something that doesn't affect them should not prevent it from becoming a feature for GIM. Just let Mains vote and GIMs vote and whatever they want can happen. Riding the fence of "GIM shouldn't have this if mains don't" and then following it with "mains don't want this" just stops a feature that wouldn't have helped them anyways. Whether it is tradable on the GE or not does not affect me. I just want to be able to throw it in group storage.
No what i am saying is, that if GIMs should be able to trade it, so should mains and therefor all other types of accounts
Sure, if the main accounts care to have the feature give it to them. I only play a GIM so I don't really have insight to what other people want, only my GIM.
I am not saying no to your suggestion, by all means add it. I dont really care. But no update should ever be added, that affects 1 player type, but not mains.
since all player types are an extention of mains. Any GIM account can revert to a main at any time
Yeah that’d basically sum up my thoughts too
I also dont play a main, so i dont think it matters what type of account you play to see how the suggestion doesnt make sense to only allow gims it
For sure, it'd be cool for everyone to benefit. I just foresee getting everyone on the same page a much more difficult task than proving it useful for GIM.
Not really pitched as "only allow GIMs" more of "at least allow GIMs".
Any poll for a gim buff wouldnt just be gims voting though, so if you want to change something and not allow mains to do it, gl with getting your suggestion through a poll
Well for starters, they've done plenty of votes that only include the affect audience: hardcore, ultimate, PvPers. So I don't see why the same couldn't be done for GIMs. It seems easy to just poll it for Mains and GIMs and whatever the votes say happens. If mains do/don't want it, cool. If GIMs do/don't want it, cool.
No because if it becomes tradeable, then i could also drop it from my iron to my money alt.
Okay, there's plenty of room for developers to come up with the actual implementation. Simply making it only depositable into the group storage would suffice for my purposes. The reason it's untradable is a technical issue anyways. I do not know the inner workings that would make it happen, only the idea that it should happen to enhance the GIM experience.
My group skipped it and just got a tbow. Hate that place only one dude has a set and it’s untradable as it is with mains as well. Don’t think that should change.
Ah, skip it and get Tbow, a reasonable solution.
Just get the tbow drop duh
There are a handful of items like this that just aren't designed well for GIM. The new avernic treads are another example of an item that's needlessly painful to use for GIM, and wildy weapons are borderline useless with their forced 1k ether requirement which already a huge ask without bot farms subsidizing it for mains
I know they said they didn't want special cases for GIM, but the alternative is just bad game design and unbalances content that just doesn't work properly with the game mode
For bofa (c) to be tradable you would also have to make crystal shards and the armour tradable as well for main accounts.
It feels fine how it is. Grind out a bofa if you want your own corrupted version. You can still trade it as is just uncorrupted
No you don't 🙂 We are talking about one item here. Once again, we are talking about GIM, a mode centered around the concept that you don't have to do everything "on your own" 🙂
Well the Avernics even mentioned how it would work for GIM's so yeh.
Untradeables also sucks for mains
Gim is an extension of main. You get to share but also have iron esq limitations. You can't have your cake and eat it
This would also set a precedent for future untradables. Gims have been asking this for different things throughout the years
It's not the same. Mains can buy the tears/etc for the treads from the GE, Ironmen never need to trade them, but for GIM it undermines the game mode by both making the price to trade unreasonable and also discouraging groups from playing together
What exactly is the cake here? It's a previously tradable item becoming untradable. It's the same logic that got applied to the saturated heart that we pass around. We don't need to solve the world's problems with one change. Maybe it's okay things work differently sometimes. That is the charm of the game after all 🙂
I think there's some things that should remain as is. I don't see the value in making a corrupt bofa tradable. The process is you committing to using it for a while. Crystal shards are so much more abundant than they have ever been as well
Yeah, I would like the committment to be a group commitment for my group game mode that I am playing. The value is that we get to continue playing the game the same way we are with almost every other drop. To note: the bofa is an exception, not the rule here. We trade so much with each other. This existing as an item that is counterintuitive to the game mode is an unfun experience 🙂
Sadly you can't balance an item and all use cases. Yes it would suck to corrupt a bofa and not be able to trade it with your team. If I was a gim it would be a "the first enhanced is for me, the second is for the team"
Well, we can certainly try to make the experience better. I am a gim and I'm telling you that your sentiment is not fun or enhancing the game mode at all. It does the opposite.
Counter argument - bofa when corrupt should give you back the crystal shards when you revert it
I'll take it. Anything that lets me move my bofa around.
I play as an iron. The thought of putting non dupes in a shared bank where they can disappear is foreign. Heard many horror stories of "friends" taking and dipping.
Did you also know that reverting a Bofa or salad blade costs even more shards? It's a pretty dumb system
I would be ok with a rebalancing of this system to be more friendly
Lol, my group consists of friends who have known each other for years irl. Someone dipping is the least of our concerns.
Idk if that's the case with so many other past and present gim teams. Seems like you have a unique case which may not be true for others. Happy you have that
For sure, happy to have my group. But it definitely feels like how the mode was intended to be played. Having barriers of trust kind of errodes the fun of the GIM mode. I'm down for a crystal shard rework or something that lets me pass the bow around.
Gl on your endeavours 🫡
