language isn't abusive. The way it's used is. And there are too many people circumventing chat filters to provoke someone, that uses the chat as allowed, and gets penalized.
If it's going to be penalized, revert back to 2008scape where every slur or "bad word" was asterisks.
The percent of people playing rs under 18 has to be astronomically low anyways
then why mute for cursing? point being if we are all adults, quit muting for elementary school banter...
Most people dont like it when you throw hateful speech at them, you know just being respectful is usually fine
being called an insult, and responding with an insult gets the 2nd person muted, not the instigator. do you not see an issue? if not, you may want to seek psychiatric help.
Just don't insult them back.
You can report them first and dont respond? It autoignores when you report, so you dont need to hear them
or be adults and have the banter? with free speech? you don't duct tape someones mouth in the street for saying "you're an idiot"
and generally someone insulted is going to throw shade back.
muting is stupid for real players. muting is only useful for bots.
There are legal reasons Jagex has to do things, based on UK laws and game rating/age accessibility. I am in the US and don’t know all the nuances but there are legal reasons for it.
