Thats NOT CONSENTUAL AND VERY PREDATORY and I would like to AT LEAST be able to choose the frog princess...

Its honestly crazy how itd be forced like that, when most people absolutely do not swing that way. Some of them try to say "its not forced, you dont have to participate". But no, it's definitely being slow dripped into content that people participate in. And theres wonder why theres push back.

If you look at the name while speaking to him, it outlines whether it's the prince or princess.

And you can choose to just pet the frog instead of kiss if you'd prefer.

This is an entire non-issue that can be ameliorated by just not spacebarring. Further, the choices as to kiss/pet/I'd rather not are also random.
It's not based on your character model anymore because (and this may shock you) there are people who would choose to kiss the same gender or not kiss the opposite gender

And yes, if it disturbs you so much to kiss a male frog, you do have to pay attention to which option you choose. Similar to how to do the mime event you have to pay attention to the emote used, or for the drill sergeant you have to pay attention to the exercise instructed.

I am, which is how I'm able to simply choose the option I prefer.
Instead of getting embroiled in some weird culture-war diatribe over kissing frogs in a video game, you could simply just see if it says "Prince" or "Princess" on your screen and bam, problem solved.

Make sure next time you complete the quest "Throne of Miscellanea" you don't accidentally romance the prince, as that is an option available.

You can tell by some of the pixels and his name in the chatbox that he is different from the princess, so be forewarned

the frogs that spawn with the prince/ss also have overhead dialogue like “come speak to the frog prince/ss” or “the frog prince/ss is waiting for you!” something like that

there is no core problem because there’s no issue- the whole reason the pet option was added as an alternative to the kiss option was so you’re not forced to kiss ANYONE (princess or prince) to complete the event

Jagex isn't going to change this. It's been changed already to give everyone of all comfort levels of kissing whatever gender frog the option to kiss or not kiss while still getting the rewards.

Seeing as you've been given a solution to fix this bug, as well as been pointed that you can just not kiss the frog (or even dismiss the event entirely). I will be locking this thread.

I also recommend you reporting the bug in game by right clicking the report button and choosing the report bug option.
