Book of the damned

The initial proposal for a new "best-in-slot" cape was met with controversy. The second proposal proved to be disappointingly underwhelming, and unfortunately, the third fared no better.

This proposal is intended to replace the Eldritch Necklace.

  1. Demon Text:
unlocked after completing delve 9, allows to make "Book of damned"

  2. Vial of Blood:
Tradable reward, required "book of the dead". Charged based system like blood amulet.

chps = charges per spell

Provides following effects:
infinite source of fire runes (also works in inv) - no charge cost

  • warmth item - no charge cost
  • book of the dead - no charge cost
  • +2 max hit - 1 charge per attack
  • Crumble Undead: Increases both min and max hit by 5 - 5 chps
  • Death Charge: Restores 20% Special Attack energy - 10 chps
  • Thralls (all tiers): Removes the prayer cost - 5 chps per prayer point
  • Vengeance: Increases reflected damage to 85% - 35 chps
  1. Dried Demon Blood
If a player dies in PvP and does not protect the "Book of the Damned", all remaining charges are converted into "Dried Demon Blood".
11,000 Dried Demon Blood can be combined with a "Vial of Water" to create a "Vial of Demon Blood".
    "Dried Demon Blood" is tradeable.

-8 is the highest delve
-Fire runes. Why? No. Especially not in inv.
-Warm item. Why?
-2 maxhits. To what? Why would this be good? Doesn’t this just conflict with other %dmg items?
-Crumble undead. Why? Still a useless spell even with this.
-Death charge. Already strong enough but seems a weird benefit to a mage shield you would have to be equipping.
-Vengeance. Definitely no. Vengeance is already extremely powerful especially in PvP.
-Vials. Do those do anything?

Overall, baffling suggestion.

Ok i wanted to keep the post short but i am going zo add the reasoning.

as for the questions:

  • so people push higher delve, 8 ist not the end, this is an infinitly repeating bossfight
  • so all the runes for the spell, thralls and death charge fit in one inventory slot
  • cause of the fire runes, all item that provide infinite fire runes are considered warmth items
  • this is a shield slot item
  • buff spells so shadow user have some use
  • you are most like to loose this item in pvp

What exactly do you mean by that shadow bullet

i'm not gonna say it's good or bad but it's definitely too much for a single item

jaunty echo

It definitely doesn't look like anything that deserves to compete with Elidinis' ward (f) for sure

the stats are unchanged from the book of the dead

well given it's a book of the dead upgrade, i disagree

#

could remove half the effects and you'd still use it anywhere you use thralls

# stiff hill Book of the damned The initial proposal for a new "best-in-slot" cape was met ...

This didint fit:

  • As a shield-slot item, it cannot be used with Tumeken’s Shadow for a DPS boost, but it still offers strong utility.
  • Infinite Fire Runes allow players to carry all necessary runes for "Death Charge" and "Thralls" in a single inventory slot.
  • The book is untradeable, requiring effort to obtain and maintains as such some prestige.
  • The "Vial of Demon Blood" is tradeable, allowing players who cannot clear Delve 9 to profit from it.
  • The high Delve level requirement for the "Demon Text" encourages players to push deeper.- The book functions similarly to a Blood Shard, ensuring a natural item sink that helps retain its value.
  • The Vengeance buff makes it highly desirable for PvP combat.
  • Since Dried Demon Blood cannot be used to recharge the book, players risk losing significant charges on PVP Death
  • Recreating the "Vial of Demon Blood" from "Dried Demon Blood" is intentionally inefficient, creating an additional item sink in PvP.
  • There are likely additional uses for the item that I haven't considered yet.

I mean it could literally just be botd with infinite fire runes and that would be a "big" upgrade because it's -1 inventory spot essentially

stiff hill
#

this seems rather underwhelming, saving an inventory slot does seems powerfull enough

#

also this would not work well as an charge item, all the mentioned spell effect cost charges

sacred igloo
#

it certainly wouldn't be flashy but that alone would be a big upgrade

and to clarify you're saying +2 max hits? not +2 minimum hits like jagex proposed for the eldritch cape?

jaunty echo

Right which alone would just make it the same as if not better than elid f

this is a continued investment not a one time of, so there will be a point at which this will be more expensive than elid f
