#3rd Age Spell book: An Elite Reward
57 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The differences between a Wizard, Mage, and Sorcerer are as follows:
Wizards must learn spells through tomes and scrolls.
Mages have some natural instinctual ability, but still learn through practice.
Sorcerers have an inherent natural ability with magic, and do not require books or scrolls, with their magic coming from instinct.
This also implies in the canon of Gielinor: Sorcerers do not need runes as they are part Dragon Ancestry; being an independent source of magic in Gielinor. Cue the 2nd and 3rd Age, Magick lost to time (Ancient Spellbook in the 2nd age), rise and fall of nations, unreproducable magical silver armor and dragonhide from an extinct chromatic variant, the depreciation of Magicks over 3 ages, fall of the Dragonkin. Cue the Modern Age: rediscovery of a 2nd Age Spellbook, buried treasure, rediscovery of the Kourend continent and introduction into the Dark Art.
Ancestral Robes:
The (x) of a powerful sorceress from a bygone era.
The PC is both a Wizard and a Mage, but never a Sorcerer or Sorceress. Present: the 1st Age; "The Myth of the Elder-dragons", the Great Olm of the divergent Wyrm class of primordial Dragon-kin, and the powerful Sorceress; a lost to time canon of Magicks of the meagre library of the Wise Old Man.
Canonically correct cosmetic+ spell book rare item.
as for the spells-
-
You say some can be used in F2P, and then you immediately follow that up with that the spellbook reverts to standard if your membership runs out. So... it's just that members can use a few of the spells on F2P for some reason?
-
Levitate, Jaunt, Elven Retreat: No thanks to movement abilities, this wouldn't pass a poll
-
Teleother Self, Teleback Self: This is just last recall in the maingame, it would be incredibly busted
-
Tele-other Avarrocka: Why would a 3rd age spellbook have a teleport spell to a place that didn't exist until the 4th age? I get that it's suppose to be a tele other to Varrock, but it doesn't make sense to be on this spellbook.
-
Imcandoria Visa: This is a kinda cool idea but gameplay-wise it's useless and Jagex would have to actually create the area. You also have to consider that the game isnt meant to be seen from this point of view, so it'd look kinda weird
-
Crandor and Group Crandor Teleport: It's fine, only purpose is for clue steps though
-
Crystallize Self and Other: I like the idea of support spells but they're difficult to balance them to make them actually worth using without making them overpowered. This seems useless, no one is carrying around ashes to cast a temporary defense increase
-
Edict: I would guess this is suppose to compete with thralls but I don't think we need something to compete with thralls. Thralls are already fine if even a bit strong as it is, and people would stick with using thralls because the arceuus spellbook also has spells like death charge
👍
- I don't know where the sorcerers are part-dragon part is coming from, the book you're referring to implies nothing of the sort
- The continent of Zeah and the Arceuus spellbook was never lost, not sure if you meant it like that but it sounds like it
- Olm is heavily implied to be the creation of the Dragonkin Karuulm, who was working to recreate the Wyrms of old that went extinct in the God Wars. They created the wyrms, drakes, and hydras in Mount Karuulm, and then moved south to Mount Quidamortem when Skotizo showed up. That's where Olm is found, and it has a similar appearance to the wyrms Karuulm created, and similar attacks to the hydras/Alchemical Hydra (that Karuulm also created), so it's not an ancient dragonkin but rather a dragonkin creation
From Latin: sorc (witch) serer (sow)
- Sorcerers are known to be part dragon ancestry and Runescape lore isn't an original creation. I'm not claiming to be an academic but it's just obvious. The armor that Ancestral Robes are based off of is from Skyrim, and the woman that wears them in Skyrim is part dragon ancestry.
Zeah was lost after they retreated and isolated themselves.
Implied isn't definitively specified. The primordial gods like Mah, and the Anima Mundi birthed their lesser tiers: Brassica Prime, Zaros, Seren, Guthix and are the most powerful of the gods in Gielinor. But the primordial magick that created the dragon-magick doesn't rely on gods. The Dragonkin are implied to be the most powerful of the Draconic catagory of magick in Gielinor because they have the most history and are communicable. But the Hueycoatl and Olm have no official history, being raging incommunicable beasts.
-
ahh gotcha, i just didnt know where you were getting it from because I didn't think there was any source of info that said something like that ingame
-
I mean, I don't think they ever retreated or isolated. They've just been doing there own things, fighting their own wars. It was inhabited by the Old Ones til they died out, and it was slowly inhabited by people over time, some who came over to escape from the God Wars happening on the main continent. Varlamore however DID choose to isolate and restrict people from visiting or leaving
-
It's not confirmed but it's just very heavily implied to the point where it's hard to deny:
- Karuulm in his own journal talks about creating Wyrms, Drakes, and Hydras
- The last thing he writes in his journal is about how he's moving his experimentation to Mount Quidamortem because there were lizards there he wanted to mess with
- In Mt. Quidamortem, we find the Great Olm, which is a dragon. It has the same head shape and a long neck, like the wyrms. It has the same kind of attacks as the Alchemical Hydra (acid, crystals, fire, lightning)
just gotta put 2 and 2 together
I believe Kourend refused to fight in the God Wars and then isolated themselves. Varlamore isolating further from Kourend is a product of poor kingdom management.
In this shard the Dragonkin haven't created the QBD to our knowledge, but still reminisce in their "failures" of the White Dragons which are the most intelligent of the standard dragon. Hypothetically if the Dragonkin could create the QBD, they could create the Olm. But if I'm not mistaken, the QBD was a rotten, rotting wretch of a dragon.
In some twisted nightmare they could have created the Olm, or they could just be intelligent enough to take credit for someone else's work since there is no history left.
No spellbooks should be added to f2p
Also these spells seem just eh, theres a few clue teleports but outside of that whats the point
Arguing Dragonkin politics right now.
Zaros ruled over the Dragonkin while Guthix slept. But Guthix created Gielinor as it was to be in the beginning.
It's a cosmetic+ spellbook. You don't exactly see people running around in 3rd age armor for a specific task.
At the moment 3rd age is inflated by gold sellers and gamblers.
[[imafore's betrayal]]
Kourend is a fascinating kingdom. It was formed over a thousand years ago by settlers who had fled the God Wars.
Kourend was founded by refugees escaping from the God Wars, which I guess technically they refused to fight but it's not really the same. Then, Varlamore was founded later on by refugees from Kourend who were escaping the Age of Strife (aka Xeric taking over the kingdom). The natives of the continent, the Old Ones, had only recently went extinct around the time of the God Wars.
They haven't been lost since then, they've just mainly been focused on their own problems

QBD is RS3, and I don't believe there's any evidence of it existing in OSRS, so it's hard to use QBD as an example to say the dragonkin couldn't create Olm
Nah, you misread what I typed on purpose.
what did I misread?
I never said couldn't.
thank you for your input
I've been through the crucible of Souls-like lore long enough to say: you know jack.
Word jutsu so fire to redditors these days
This game really attracts the weirdest people
It's a cosmetic spell book, doesn't need to be dissected by some redditor
they voted for dragonhunter wand after all
Teleports and especially jumps wont pass a poll, same with support spells. Barely anybody would use random cosmetics that require an entire spellbook swap, id rather the devs create some actual gameplay in the videogame we play 🙂
Dont publicly post if you dont want feedback from the public
This too shall pass.
Even more funny than the suggestion itself though is the fact that you just made up your own etymology and mythological origin of sorcerer while proclaiming to be an expert and "having been through the crucible of souls like lore"
Touch grass friend
Oh i can handle it, im just majorly amused
Also making up wrong facts doesnt have much to do with opinion
well stupid people exist in the world, to your surprise
but no surprise to me
i give 0 fuck about this game tbh, this is just a selfish suggestion for something I want and pay for
Quite some walls of text for someone completely uninvested in this game
what can I say, I'm unique
Thank you for surprising me
Made my day
great i hope it's worth it's salt
it's just a cosmetic+ suggestion, not for anything in particular, have a beer and recline
I can buy all the gold I want this month in bonds, in the end, i beat the game when I realized I dont give a fuck anymore
it's a product
Ye ok but who
i lied i like this game a lot
osrs doesn't have a skybox so this wouldn't work
