It's anti-streamlined.
Jagex made updates to wintertodt and tempoross to lean heavily in the direction of streamlining loot.
The looting should not be required.
Making bryn killable like a lvl 3 man would be for comedic satisfaction.

Yeah, its non standard. It’s not even about looting the chest, it’s about potentially broadcasting your failure to whoever is there at the time is the best part, and unless the player is so self conscious to hop worlds to get their pity flier you gots to open it if you wanna go back
