#Combine Melee Offensive Prayers Into 1 (the 5% attk, 5% str ones. Same with 10% and 15% ones)

This would clear up more space in the prayer book for potential god alignments in the future as well, or other additions, without needing to change sizes or remove/add prayer function or change prayerbooks.

Also, who ever wants to or ever wanted to flick 2 prayers per offensive attack anyway.. It's only viable to flick with quick-prayers..

Drain rate is probably best to reduce to make that of 15% attk and 15% str together be in line with 15% ranged (eagle eye) or the 15% magic (mystic might) prayers. This means leaving drain rate unaltered as they currently are individually. That's half of chivalry/piety drain rate for the offensive prayer. While using it with "steel skin (15% def)", drain rates match with chivalry/piety/riour/augury.

Now that we have such a customizable prayer book with reordering I think it may be time for such a rework for melee's offensive prayers. Too much space in the current prayerbook is wasted on prayers that many people filter away nowadays anyway.

I'm still quite fond of retaining the original prayers, so I was thinking that perhaps there would be an in-game way to combine the prayers at some stage.

For example: at level 31, the player can go to Edgeville Monastery to combine those pairs of prayers into one.

This specifically and intentionally also helps the pures who keep being offered Chivalry without 60 defense by Mod Wrathmaw, or at least deals with the argument that clicking 3 prayers for similar effect is annoying

so I support in part because it means less likelihood of Chivalry for 1-defense pures getting the VLS repoll forever treatment and we can find a better use for it, and because it's a valid complaint that doesn't change anything but make the build less annoying to use

I just don't understand why melee needs to have it's offensive prayers cut in 2. I get that is has two skills unlike the other two styles (though for a LONG time magic was only accuracy) and that opens some interesting options. But the fact it needs double prayer drain pre-chiv is just silly to me. I think they should be combined but cost the same as they currently do individually.

Hmm I think you're right, it could be the best solution to go for to make it the same drain rate as they are individually currently, just like Eagle eye (15% ranged) or Mystic Might (15% magic) drain rate are:
I think however the defensive prayer (steel skin 15%) could be best left as it is as an individual prayer and same drain rate.

TLDR; Offensive melee, magic and ranged prayers will then have same drain rate

Using Steel skin with any of them will double drainrate to match that of chivalry, piety, rigour and augury

Edited now, revised drainrate proposal to what @gaunt wharf proposed, thank you sir

Good idea. This eliminates 6 redundant prayers from the prayer book. If Jagex ever gets around to implementing god alignments, maybe each alignment could offer 6 new prayers each?

glad meadow
#

It is indeed 6 more slot spaces, tho I'd vote for being very conservative and slow with how many new prayers to be added per alignment.
I think god alignments don't need more than 1, 2 or max 3/4 per alignment. Don't forget how many different Gods there can be too, you know..

In a larger Prayer rework, I think it would be reasonable to allow reordering of the prayers in the prayer tab interface alongside this suggestion. Since it's likely that players will not actually require using 30 different prayers for any given activity.

And that would remove any kind of restriction in terms of "new prayers" or "god alignments" in the future.

I hope you vote accordingly when it gets repolled for the 5th time!

being scared of the wildy is stupid, it's mostly dead outside bosses and some very determined people hopping 50 worlds at the rogue's castle and chaos altar

I mostly don't like any restricted account getting buffs by dodging content requirements, and especially not when the placement of the buff makes no sense in-universe

#

I run into more people doing boss CAs than pkers lol

silver mauve
#

that weird, i run i to 10x more pkers than pvmers

#

are you talking about when you do clues or what

silver mauve
gaunt wharf
#

clues and the singles bosses

if I was hanging around chaos altar and rogue's castle it'd be different I'm sure

#

I'm sorry I don't like your account type getting buffed through random shit like knighthood prayers coming from zombie pirates!

silver mauve
#

yeah, thats where we draw the line

#

not every other random change

# silver mauve having it be 50 def would be useless for 90% of pvp accounts though

Assuming we grant that's the current estimated percentage, perhaps that percentage would increase tho as more zerkers would probably go 45 def->50 def for it πŸ˜›

Anyway, I really think that's the spot. 1 def hasn't passed and I doubt 1 def chivalry will ever pass, so pures are not gonna get it realistically.

Any lower than 50 def would leave 1 def pures at a disadvantage and disrupts meta.

Zerkers getting as high as 50 def and 60 prayer will move further up from pures and it'll be a much needed spot inbetween in progressen versus the piety/rigour/augury pures 70 def they start meeting near/around 100 combat+

#

No way you read all that in 3 seconds

silver mauve
#

or a pvp only poll

glad meadow
silver mauve
#

it wouldnt even give them a max hit except in rare cases

#

or well unless youre using big spec weapons like claws

#

they never polled the magic rebalance that about as much damage

glad meadow
silver mauve
#

its really only gonna give one more damage when you spec

glad meadow
silver mauve
#

yes but also most pures or zerkers have to get +1 combat level

#

if youd trade that off for 1-3 spec damage thats fair

glad meadow
#

Yes, indeed. Tho I just wanted to point out, even though it's not a huge buff, it's a notable one

silver mauve
#

or i guess one more dmg on weapons like soulreaper axe

glad meadow
silver mauve
#

i dont see how this is much different from the other rebalances theyve done

#

its dead content

#

they make it more useful

#

it wouldnt change much for most people

#

shouldnt need a poll at all

glad meadow
#

I think we need to tread carefully. Don't forget it's a quest reward attached to lore and progression etc.
If melee offensive prayers will be combined into 1 as this thread proposes, I don't think there's as much good reasons for chivalry for pures, but Idk, I'd invite you to make a thread here in #1022203837265756231 where you lay out your arguments and thoughts about it and we can consider and discuss it further

# silver mauve i wont make a post here because most people in game suggestions arent willing to...

You mean like yourself? Like seriously think about how you have been behaving in this thread and every other where this comes up. You lash out at everybody who says it shouldn't be a thing you accuse them of being cowardly pvmers afraid of the wilderness. Many of your arguments on this are hyperbole, factually incorrect, appeals to emotion or personal attacks.

IIRC the nature altar/magic secateur suggestion was also from you. That time you had some actual solid points with your argument (the nothing relevant to combat since the RFD gloves already had the defense levels hard input chief among them). Here the it wouldn't increase max hit in about half of situations therefore is a QOL change is just so wrong. I can understand that the focus to you might be a QOL adjustment but the facts are it is a power increase. If this suggestion went through it would be the same QOL improvement as removing the defense requirements of chivalry since it's not like you care about steel skin anyway and probably would rather not spend drain rate on it. So in that way this could arguably be better for pures than removing the defense requirement of chivalry. Since your getting 15/15 for half the drain rate that chivalry would be and at a much lower prayer level.

silver mauve
#

and am i wrong though? most people who have strong negative opinions about pvp have zero experience with pvp or wilderness content, yet they feel obligated to shit on any content proposed even though it wouldnt matter to them at all

grim bramble
#

That statement is pretty self defeating. Inorder to have strong opinions they need some experiance. But if you mean they avoid pvp as much as they feel they can get away with that is a significant number. However there are a lot of people with very strong negative opinions of the state of pvp who regularly engage in it. Also a lot of the people you have made those accusations against are very experienced players who's mains are probably so high level that no pure can ever touch them.

silver mauve
silver mauve

My point was that ther characters can't be attacked by pures

grim bramble
silver mauve
grim bramble
# silver mauve okay zero was just a hyperbole but you know what i mean

I actually didn't, lots of times the idea of pvp only polls is brought up they want to exclude people who NEVER engage in pvp. Because those people are "spite voting". If the never is meant to mean people who haven't developed beyond loot pinata then sadly the argument to exclude them from voting looses all credibility because they are involved, they are "content" they get a vote.

silver mauve
#

people who aren't willing to learn content shouldnt cry about how hard it is

#

thats all im saying

grim bramble
#

A situation were only the wolves can vote is incredibly toxic.

silver mauve
#

i agree, they should also include pvmers who have reasonable experience in wilderness content

#

i myself don't even pk anymore, i really just enjoy the high risk nature of the wilderness content

#

which is why its infuriating when people try to put words in every wilderness pvmers mouth, saying were loot pinatas when you can fight back very effectively, and minimize deaths to almost zero unless the pker completely outplays you or rarely gets good rng which is fair

#

and other misinformed statements similar to that

grim bramble
timber pelican
#

Gives pures the QOL they need

#

And leaves chivalry to be reworked into something that has it's own use , rather than nerfed for pures

silver mauve
#

not just for pures

#

basically every account who got 31 prayer

timber pelican
#

A majority of Mains aren't using that prayer , piety is going to be the go to

silver mauve
timber pelican
#

True

grim bramble
# silver mauve and other misinformed statements similar to that

Misinformed is a funny way of putting things. Because while there is some truth that people don't understand that there are plentiful ways of fighting back it's kind of like insisting something is easy because enough player skill allows you todo it with low power gear. Player skill is not something that happens quickly and a LOT of people will feel burnt out long before being able to get within 70% of that skill level.

silver mauve
grim bramble
#

Your principles are a massive amount of info.

#

And tons of practice

silver mauve
#

and a lot of pkers get out when the pvmers fight back because usually a pvmer risks sub 1 mil while a pker has to risk 5 or 10 times that to do any damage

silver mauve
#

you dont need like 1000 hours of practice or something to survive a pker

grim bramble
# silver mauve there are cheap and even incredibly profitable ways like soul wars/lms to practi...

That allows a safe way to practice and shows you a few of the tricks. But it leaves out the mountain of pvp special rules that there is no easy way to find. And LMS is different from PK defense. Partially because in PK defense your disadvantaged in supplies, but also more esoteric interactions are involved. Like logging in directly under people and there is also the potential issue of having to fight the PKer while also being attacked by whatever you were fighting and how to deal with that.

Depends on the PKer but yes.

silver mauve
grim bramble
silver mauve
#

yeah because the less than 10% of the community pkers can change the outcome of a poll

#

a bit earlier than that they polled the most inconsequentional poll ever, pures being able to use god dhide chaps, which was only +1 prayer over black dhide at the time, and it failed with 35% yes votes

#

and basically every other pvp poll has failed aswell, im not gonna listen to this gaslighting lol

grim bramble
#

I bring facts and logic you respond with emotions and accusations. You said NO reasons; I gave legit reasons. While spite voting is certainly a thing (you yourself have declared your intention todo it in retaliation). It's not the only reason why something can happen. While yes the blessed hide one was silly something like wrathmaw is beyond absurd and rightfully got burned.

silver mauve
#

your facts and logic are that >10% of the community would somehow be able to sway a vote?

#

and even vote against themselves when it comes to the pvp armor

#

rather than the people who are the majority of the community who have a history of literally spamming "vote no to pvp polls" and still do it whenever any pvp polls show up

grim bramble
# silver mauve your facts and logic are that >10% of the community would somehow be able to swa...

Your twisting what I said. I never tried to debate proportions; Despite how much I disagree with your assessment of them. I simply stated other potential reason. I really don't feel like looking up the pvp armors to see why else those might have failed. As for the "vote no to pvp polls" one can find all sorts of interesting creatures on reddit, those loud mouths are rarely indicative of a large scale communities they are trying to represent. In fact an argument you made earlier is the exact mirror of that sentiment.

My big thing here. Is I wish you would calm down and think about things. You are being overly emotional and I with you would actually analynze things better.

silver mauve

if there are hundreds or even thousands in various social media outspoken about how theyre voting no simply because its pvp maybe that reflects what the general community thinks

no content has failed that arent pvp related since they made it 70%

after, they polled sailing a little bit after making it 70%

Just a friendly reminder to keep the original topic of the thread in mind. Discussing the topic, even when that discussion addresses some other topics, is absolutely fine of course – but do try to steer the course back to what the thread is actually about.
